More Work
Despite the family and housing drama, there's still work to do. Oh, mainly that script. Soon was not looking forward to this. Mai-Pai patted him on the back.
“It's okay,” she whispered. “We can do this.” He said nothing. Mrs. Henderson sat across from them. He looked up at her. Might as well get this over with.
“So,” Mai-Pai said. “Where are we starting?” Soon and Mrs. Henderson stared at her. The latter smiled at her. Okay… This is going swimmingly.
“Here are my notes,” Mai-Pai said. She took out a small notebook and slid it across the table. Soon took a read.
“What does it say?” Mrs. Henderson asked. Mai-Pai explained everything slowly and carefully. The old lady nodded.
“Do you have notes?” Mai-Pai asked.
“Notes?” Mrs. Henderson asked.
“Yes,” the other woman said.
“Ah,” the editor said. “Yes. Here.” She got out a small notebook. Mai-Pai turned to Soon.
“Do you have notes?” she asked. Soon hung his head.
“No,” he said. His girlfriend frowned. Okay then…
“Right,” Mai-Pai said. She picked up Mrs. Henderson's notebook. A confused look came onto her face.
“What is this?” the woman asked. The old lady grinned.
“My notes,” she said. Mai-Pai made a face. She narrowed her eyes. The letters made no sense. Soon didn't even try. The old lady smiled. (Does she always have to do that?)
“Is something wrong?” she asked.
“Um… I can't read this,” Mai-Pai said. She slid the notebook back to Mrs. Henderson. The old woman looked at the pages.
“Where are you stuck?” she asked.
“Everywhere,” Mai-Pai said. The old lady frowned. She put on her glasses.
“Oh,” Mrs. Henderson said. “Some of my notes are a bit hard to read. Sorry about that.” Soon nervously laughed. Seriously. A sweat drop formed on Mai-Pai's head.
“Okay,” she said. This would look like this day would fall apart. This was… three days now they were stuck like this. And they were still going nowhere with this. Something had to give.
Mai-Pai stood up.
“You know what?” she asked. “We need fresh eyes to help us.” Soon and Mrs. Henderson looked at her.
“Wait here,” Mai-Pai said. She turned and walked out of the den. Her boyfriend and the old woman just looked at each other.

Mai-Pai knocked on Choko's door. She stood back when it opened.
“Yes, miss?” Choko asked. Her boss straightened up.
“We need your help,” Mai-Pai said. The secretary blinked for a moment.
“Oh…” she said. “That bad?”
“Yeah,” her boss said. Choko followed her down the stairs. This seemed like a long shot but it was better than nothing. Maybe they could form a breakthrough today. Mai-Pai frowned to herself. Maybe…
