Flames
Old love keeps popping up. Chiko liked Roco and wanted to start a
new relationship with him. But first…
“So good to see you again,” a man said.
“Yeah…” Chiko said, nodding. They were at a fine sushi restaurant.
He had just come back into town. He called her up.
“Hey, Chiko,” he said.
“Jiro?” she asked. Shock washed over her face.
“Are you free tomorrow night?” he asked. Chiko's face turned
red.
“Y-Y-Yes,” she said. “W-W-Why?”
“I would like to take you out to dinner. Is that okay with you?”
Jiro asked.
“Yes!” she yelped.
“Okay,” he said. “See you at six?” Chiko took a breath.
“Yes,” she said.
“Want me to pick you up?” Jiro asked.
“Sure,” the woman said, nodding. “Sure. Sure.” There was a pause.
Chiko frowned. Was that too much?
“Alright,” Jiro said. “I'll see you then.” Chiko thought she was
going to faint. Her heart pounded against her chest.
“Oh…” she said. Her face turned red.

Speaking of old flames…
Mai-Pai went to the eye doctor. She had just gotten her glasses.
The woman frowned as she looked in the mirror. Black flames. Small
and cute. She could see better though.
“Those are some cute frames,” a voice said behind her. Mai-Pai
whipped around. Her heart froze. A man in a black suit eyed her. He
straightened up his glasses.
“Mai-Pai… -san?” he asked. Her jaw just dropped.
“Suzuki…-san?” she asked. She covered her mouth.
“Oh my…” the woman said. Suzuki-san smiled.
“It really is yes,” he said. “How have you been?”
“G-Good!” she said. Was this real? Mai-Pai blinked many times.
“How long have you been in town?” she asked.
“A couple of days,” Suzuki said. “I'm here for my daughter's
wedding.”
“Oh… I see,” Mai-Pai said. “How is she?”
“Good,” he said. “How are your kids?”
“They are doing great,” she said. “Be has a boyfriend and Jin will
be in college soon.”
“Ah,” he said nodding. How long has it been? Ten years, right? Has
it really been that long?
“Hey,” Suzuki said. “Are you free for lunch?” Mai-Pai about
jumped.
“What?” she asked.
“Do you have time for lunch?” he asked. She lifted her chin.
“Uh… sure!” Mai-Pai yelped. “Yes!” Suzuki chuckled.
“You're just like I remember,” he said. Her cheeks were bright
red.

Old flames are nice. But are they worth it? Mai-Pai is already
married. Chiko might start a new relationship. But there is the
thought of what could have been. The question is: is it worth it?
Only one way to see.
