And Then…

Ten years have gone by. Soon opened the curtains in the living room. The house sill felt a little weird with just him and Mai-Pai. It was nice though. However, today was about to change.

Soon turned to see Mai-Pai standing in the doorway.

“Oh,” he said. “You just get up?”

“Uh-huh,” Mai-Pai said. Soon looked at her with concern.

“Are you okay?” he asked.

“Yes,” she said. “Why?” Soon shook his head.

“No,” she said. Soon was about to speak when the doorbell rang. The couple looked at each other. Who was that?

“I'll get it,” Soon said. He walked over to the door and looked out the peephole.

“Who is it?” he asked. Hindeo and Be stood outside with a little girl.

“Hello!” Hindeo shouted as he waved. “We're here!” Soon perked up as he opened the door.

“Be, Hindeo! It's so good to see you! How have you been?” he said.

“Great!” Hindeo said.

“Where is mom?” Be asked.

“Inside,” Soon said. He knelt down to the little girl.

“And how are you, Kiko?” he asked. The little girl perked up.

“Great!” she said before bursting into laughter.

“Kiko, is that you?” Mai-Pai asked.

“Yeah!” the little girl said. She raced into the house. Her parents followed behind. Soon smiled to himself as he closed the door.

Moments later, the doorbell rang again.

“I've got it!” Soon said. He power-walked to the door. The old man looked out the peephole. Chiko and Roco stood outside waving.

“Chiko, Roco!” Soon said as he opened the door. “How have you been? We missed you.”

“Great, sir,” Roco said. Chiko seemed to glow with her hand to her stomach. Soon whistled.

“Wow! Chiko how far along are you?!” he asked. The woman giggled.

“Seven months today,” she said. Suddenly, Mai-Pai ran up to the door.

“Chiko, is that you?” she asked. She gasped when she saw her former employee's stomach.

“You're pregnant?” she asked.

“Yes,” Chiko said. The older woman looked ready to fly away.

“Oh! This is great!” she said. “Come in!” Mai-Pai rushed the couple inside. Soon closed the door behind them.

Moments later, the doorbell rang again. Who was it now?

“I've got it!” Soon said. He hurried to the door and looked out the peephole. The old man's jaw dropped. It took him a moment to open the door.

“Jin? Dad? Kimiko? And who's this?” Soon asked. Shin grinned.

“Surprise!” he shouted, holding up bottles of sake.

“We came to see you,” Kimiko said. Jin held the hand of a woman with long dark purple hair.

“Soon, this is my girlfriend, Kana,” he said.

“Hello,” Kana said. Soon sank to his knees in shock. They were going to have a crowded house now.
