Meeting

Raja made it home in time for the meeting. He turned on his laptop and clicked on Zoom. The other line rang.

“Hello?” the matchmaker asked when he came up on the screen.

“Good evening,” Raja said. “How are you tonight?”

“Good,” the matchmaker said. “And you?” The businessman adjusted his headset.

“Fine. Tell me you have some good news,” he said. The matchmaker grinned.

“Even better,” he said. “They are a perfect match. We can get started in the morning.” Raja perked up.

“Oh good,” he said. “So do you need more money?”

“No, no,” he said. “Just letting you know of our progress.”

“Okay,” Raja said. There was a knock on his office door.

“Yeah?” he asked.

“Honey?” Tomoe asked as she poked her head in the doorway. “You're still up? I thought you were going to bed.”

“Excuse me,” Raja said over the call. He took off his headset and looked over his shoulder.

“I will. I'm about done here,” he said. “Just go ahead of me, darling.”

“Okay, good night,” his wife said. Raja waited until she went to their bedroom. Raja put back on his headset.

“Sorry about that,” he said. “Anything else?”

“No,” the matchmaker said. “Just bringing you up to speed. Do you have any questions?”

“No,” the businessman said. “Thank you for the update, Keep up the good work.”

“Thank you,” the matchmaker said, bowing his head.

“Goodbye,” Raja said as he bowed his head.

“Goodbye,” the other man said. The men hung up. The businessman breathed out and leaned back in his chair. That part was done. He just needed to let the matchmaker do his work. Raja looked at his closed office door. He really should get to bed. Tomoe was already waiting for him. She probably already went to sleep. Raja chuckled to himself as he thought about his wife's sleeping face. Tomoe could sleep through anything. He couldn't wait to cuddle up next to her. Raja turned off his laptop and left the room. He couldn't wait for tomorrow.
