Alana went to school the next three days and made sure Yori knew the same rules as always. If he went out, he was Haden and he wasn't to get into any trouble because it would fall back on Alana. After school on the third day, she took her time coming home. She walked to the park and sat down in the sunny spot Blue Yori loved so much. Laying back on the grass in her school uniform with her school bag to her side, she closed her eyes and let the warmth soak in her skin. She missed Blue Yori.

Yori was going crazy. How did fish boy put up with this? He was stuck at the house all day. Whenever he went out he had to be Haden. That guy was so boring! Grabbing the holo ring he began to toy around with it. After a few minutes of tinkering around with, he stared at his image. He looked exactly like himself except without ears, tail, claws or fangs. He looked disgusting.... He winced as he started to move. Genetic modification left you drained and he felt off balance without his tail. This was weird, and probably wasn't a good idea. He missed his fluffy ears already.

His actions sparked a reaction out of fish boy, however, who was protesting all of this. He felt weaker. His senses weren't as good and his body was really sensitive. Taking a few steps to get his balance he looked down at his feet. "Humans wear shoes don't they?" He'd never bothered with them, but he could probably squeeze into some of Alana's.

One final modification made his eyes looked blue. He hadn't seen too many humans with golden eyes. Whistling, he started outside. This could be fun.

Alana rolled on the grass and opened her eyes. Weeks ago, Yori was sitting next to her, laying there and complaining about her taking his spot. She moved her hand over the grass then sat up. Around her, the park was getting quiet. Eldarians were going home for the day since the clouds were setting in. It was going to rain.

Yori couldn't believe how nice the humans were to him as he walked down the street. They nodded, smiled, and waved. He could get use to this. He whistled as he walked, wondering what he should do first. Maybe go to a human bar. He heard those always got really rowdy. As he kept walking, he passed by one of the Eldarian parks...his park. He sniffed the air, but he couldn't tell anything.

"Stupid nose," he muttered. Pushing his hands into his pockets he started walking to the park to see how the Eldarian's treated him.

Alana knew she wouldn't be missed at the house, so there was reason for her to rush home when it was about to rain. He probably wouldn't even care. That was Golden Yori for you. If it didn't affect him, it wasn't worth the trouble. She laid back down on the grace as the dark gray clouds rolled over the sky. The park was getting dead fast. Eldarians hated rain.

The park was nearly a ghost town. Looking up at the sky he moaned. No wonder, it was about to start raining. Thunder cracked in the sky and he felt fish boy jump inside of him. Damn scaredy-cat. He pulled his jacket around him. He might be human right now, but that still didn't mean he wanted to get wet. Looking around he spotted a familiar form. "You know, if we did it right now no one could say anything," he smirked as he looked down at her.

Alana's eyes narrowed. "Stop tampering with the ring. It's not a toy." She rolled on the grass, settling on her side. "Go away. Don't you have something destructive to do?"

He sat down beside her and laughed. "Oh come on. I'm human now. We can do all the naughty things in public. I was thinking about going to a bar and getting drunk. I've never been to a human bar, for obvious reasons. It might be fun. Drink, smoke, try some illegal drugs. Fun!"

Alana grabbed her bag and stood. "You do that then," she said and started home.

He had to hurry to catch up to her. He nearly tripped and fell twice. Stupid body. He was still getting use to not having a tail for balance. "Oh come on. Live a little. I even have blue eyes just for you."

Alana turned to look at him. She looked at his eyes. They were blue. Her eyes hardened. "If you don't benefit from it, you don't do it. If you want sex then fine, let's go. But if you think that we are going to do it your way, you are sadly mistaken. I'm not playing by your rules, not anymore," she snapped and started walking again.

He grabbed her arm to stop her. "What does that mean?" he asked, his eyes narrowing as he glared at her.

She pulled her arm back. "I've let you have your way. I've let you pull and push. I've let you make me bleed and leave bruises but I want you to know I never did it for you. Not once. I did it for him because you are part of him and I needed you to be happy so you didn't fuck up and go on one of your psycho 'I hate the fucking world' emo trips. But now that he's not even part of the equation anymore, we get to play by my rules." She glared at him. "You want sex, you have to earn it. And when we do have sex, there will be no bruises left behind or bleeding unless it's coming from you. Got it!?"

He just stared at her as if she was crazy. "Right, I'm sure that's how it's going to be," he said as he rolled his eyes. "In case you haven't realized in our wonderful time together, I'm not fish boy. I couldn't care less about being gentle or nice in bed." And while he enjoyed pain in the bedroom, he didn't like the fact that she was trying to imply that she could hurt him. He was an Eldarian, he could kill her six different ways with his tail.

"Fine. Then go find someone else to fuck! Because it isn't going to be with me," she snapped harshly. She turned around once more and started home. The sky cracked and the rain rushed down. She didn't look back at him.

He felt fish boy nearly jump out of his skin lightning crashed down around him. "Damnit, fish boy! Get your ass back out here! I'm tired of trying to live your life." He could feel fish boy trying to push him away from the lightning. He hated the storms. Maybe....

"I've got an idea," he yelled to Alana, a smirk plastered on his face. He started to run toward the storm. He forgot that he wasn't an Eldarian right now. He forgot that his skin wasn't hard as rock and he didn't heal quickly. He forgot a lot of things. He just wanted to make fish boy take control.

Alana groaned. "Great...now he's so emo he's suicidal." She looked up at the sky. Should she care and go after him or should she got home and just forget about it?

Yori looked at her hand and then to her. Despite the rain and the lightning he stood his ground. "Are you still mad at me?"

"I'm not doing this here, Yori. I will leave you in this rain. I swear it," she said looking at him. "Take my hand and we can go home or sit there and sink in the mud. That's your only choice."

He looked down and finally nodded as he took her hand. "Okay," he whispered.

Alana walked with him back to her house. Once there, she dropped her school bag and started stripping. "Take off your wet colds so you don't get sick. I'll make a fire," she said. "Go get some towels when your down stripping."

He just nodded and did as she said. He went upstairs and took off his clothes. He stared at him, his hands running over his body. Did the other him use his holo ring to do this? He didn't want to do anything until he was certain of what happened. Grabbing towels, he went back downstairs, shivering as he handed her some of the towels.

Alana started a fire in the fire place then set the towels beside it to warm them up. Grabbing a blanket from the couch, she sat it on the ground then threw a bunch of couch pillows with on it. Once the towels were warm she wrapped a few around him then one around herself. "Sit by the fire. I'll be back," she said and walked to the kitchen. Pushing a few buttons on the fridge, two things of hot chocolate came out of it. She grabbed a bag of marsh mellows then a thing of ice cream and two spoons. She walked back to him and sat next to him on the blanket. "Here, this will warm you up," she said handing him one of the hot chocolates. "And this will make you feel better," she added then set the ice cream and marsh mellows down. The house was dark except for the fire that cracked in front of them.

He smiled. He hadn't really realized how much he'd missed this. Taking a sip of the hot cocoa, he looked up and smiled at her. Looking down, he toyed with the spoon for the ice cream. He wanted to play with his tail, but that was sadly missing right now. "What...what happened? Why am I like this? How long has it been?" His voice was soft and deliberate.

"Three days," she whispered. Reaching over, she feeled around for his ring and pushed a button. Watching him, she saw his normal self come back to her. She pulled the ring off and set it aside. "You left me, that's what happened. You left me here and you didn't bother to care about how I would feel. All I ever do...everything I do....all of it is because I care about you. I would never do anything that would hurt you. I brought out Golden Yori because I know if you push him back he will grow mad and lash out. Though, I'm sure he hates me as much as you do too. It doesn't really matter now." She took a deep breath. "I'm...breaking up with you..."

Yori smiled as he rubbed his tail. He was back! He looked over at Alana, flashing her a grin as she spoke. That grin quickly fell as he stared at her. "What? B-but...." He shook his head. "You yelled at me for nothing! The other me causes nothing but trouble. I made sure he couldn't hurt you...but I was mad at you. I'm sorry. I'll never do it again."

He looked at her with big eyes, hoping that she would accept his apology. "I don't hate you, Alana. I could never hate you. I was just mad... I say stupid stuff when I'm mad."

Alana turned to the fire and watched it. "While you were gone, I missed you more than I thought I could miss anyone in the world. It hurt so much to know that you shut me out just because I was doing what I know was best for you." She put her cup down and pushed her wet hair from her face.

"And while Golden Yori looked at me with lust and anger, I knew...I could never feel the same about him as I do you. I can't talk to him. I can't even have sex with him. I tried not to play favors and I tried not feel this way but I do. And I can't be with you and not be with him. He's a large piece of you and it would be like telling you I prefer the left side of your body but not the right." She looked over at him. She had thought so hard and long about this the pass three days. The way he looked at her made her think of that ten year old mind he had. She felt guilty for hurting him.

"You are very childish and you don't understand things the way I do. It's hard dealing with that. And I've been able to over look it all this time, but being with Golden Yori mad everything a little clearer." She wanted to touch him, to caress him and make that sad look go away.

"You mean so much to me. I don't really know how I'll be able to get into the swing of things once I no longer have you, but because you are so much younger than me at mind set, I can't talk to you about the things I need to. Where is this relationship going? Will we fall in love or is this just about sex and the thrill of sneaking around? And what if we are never caught? How will we live our lives in secret? What about children? There is so much to consider and I can't ask you to consider them. Not when you..." She looked away. "Not when you have the mind of a ten year old. It's so much easier if we just go our separate ways. I'm crazy about you but I can't be with you and not be with Golden Yori. There are a number of reasons why we shouldn't be together. And I wish I could explain them all to you, but it's just too hard. When you get upset, you push him out and leave me here with him. Yes, you may be able to hold him back from doing anything harmful, but what if you keep pushing him back and suddenly you get mad at me. You won't be able to hold him back from hurting me or other people. The only reason you want to hold him back is because of me."

Finally she looked at him. "Let's face it, Yori. I'm no good for you. You were so much better off with your sister. She knew how to take care of you. I don't."

Yori's hands fisted his legs. He didn't even notice his claws were stabbing into his legs. "This isn't about sneaking around," he told her. He couldn't even look up at her anymore. "This isn’t just about fooling around." He growled and looked at her. "I understand a lot more than you or any else gives me credit for! I think about things to. I have my own questions and worries, but being with you makes me happy."

He turned to look back at the fire. "I like you, Alana. More than I should. It hurts when I think about you being with the other me. If it is me...it's not. I don't like it. That's why I don't like him coming out, because in that time I'm not with you."

"Before you kick me out...could we...at least try to talk?"

Alana reached over and grabbed his hands to keep him from digging into his skin. "Stop that. I don't like you hurting yourself." She used his towel to wipe the blood. She moved his wet hair from his eyes. "Ok, we can talk. We'll talk all night if we have to."

He looked down. He hadn't even felt it. Retracting his claws he wiped them off of his legs. He was sniffling, though it was hard to tell if it was because he was getting a cold or something else. "Okay," he said slowly. He wasn't going to be childish. He was going to listen. He was going to think. He was going to try his best. "Where do you want to start?"

"Well...what about where this is going? It's not like we can get married or have a life together...what exactly is this?" she said and sat back against the pillows while on her towel tightly around her.

He bowed his head. He hadn't thought about marriage. "Well, we're still both young," he said slowly. "Marriage would be a long ways a way. Maybe in that time human and Eldarian relations will get better." He smiled. "You seem to be pretty good at it. I'm certain that you'll be able to make the difference."

Alana closed her eyes. "You are thinking of now. Stop doing that. I'm talking about the future. Right now, we are kids, but there may come a time when we fall in love. I doubt I can change the world before that time comes. I can't change the world in less than ten years. I'll be lucky to even live that long with how deep I'm getting into this stuff. This Saturday, I'll be all over holo screens and everyone will know. I could get shot." She sighed. "But I don't want to talk about that. If we are going to do this...be together...then I don't want it to just be a phase we go through. We are risking our lives, Yori. But what exactly have we accomplished relationship wise? Nothing. I don't like your other side and I can't be with someone who I don't care about completely." She looked at the fire again. "I wonder what he would say if he thought he could lose me..." she mumbled to herself.

Yori looked back at the fire. "He would say that he was sorry. That he cares about, even though he sometimes has a hard way of showing it. He would say that no matter what happens, he wants to be with you." Yori looked over at her with his blue eyes and smiled. "We...are one. I know he would say that, because that is what I would say."

"He won't change and that makes it hard to be with him...with you. He wants something I can't give him. I'm not an Eldarian. I can't take the abuse he conflicts on me during sex. I will break..." she said and ran the spoon in the ice cream. It was completely melted.

Yori nodded. "I'll.... I'll talk to him about that," he said softly. "Everyone can change, and so can he." This would all be a lot less complicated if there simply wasn't another him.

"You can talk to him all you want. He won't change. The only reason he cares about me is because you do. I'm sure he would be just as happy having any girl to fool around with," she said as she laid back.

"Well, he's not going to get any other girl. The only girl I want is you...." He was quiet for a moment. It was clear that something was going on in his head by the way he absentmindedly played with his tail and stared off. "I think.... What if I could get rid of him?" He bit his lip. "There's a ritual among my people.... It seals away our feral side, and I think that's what he is. If I do that...maybe it can just be me."
