Alana shot up. "No! You can't do that!" she said quickly. "He's a part of you. What can't you understand that? How many times do I have to say it? He is you. You can't just make him go away. Not for me and not for anyone. He feels just like you do. What if it was him I cared about and he wanted to get rid of you?"

Yori looked confused as he held his head. "So...you can't fully care about me because of him.... But I can't try to get rid of him either?" He bowed his head. That made no sense to him, but he didn't want to argue. "I won't...try anything like that. I won't try to get rid of him. I guess I'll just...try to work with him."

Alana placed her hand on his face. She hated seeing him like this. "Yori..." she sighed. "I'll make you a deal. You try to get him to change, and we can stay together. If he can't change within a few weeks...then I can't do this anymore."

Yori looked at her with determined eyes. "He'll change," he promised. He had a plan. At least...he thought he did. Every time he thought he had a plan it somehow involved fish and then he got hungry and forgot what he was thinking about. "I promise." He smiled and licked her face playfully as he purred. "You know....this is good curl up on the couch and watch movies weather."

Alana smiled and wiped her face. "Ok...that was weird..." She pulled at his towel then at hers. "It's been three days. I don't want to watch a movie." She pushed him back and crawled on his body while their lips met.

Yori smiled into her kiss. His tail wrapping around her. He had missed her....

Two days later they were getting ready for her next speech. Yori was in the back with her, not bothering with his disguise until they had to go up front. "You'll do great," he promised. Smiling as he pressed his lips hard against her. "That's good luck...from both of us."

Alana pushed at his chest. "Don't do that, ok? Not here. Not when we can get caught," she said. She wanted to say more, but they called her on stage.
She smiled and waved to the crowd. It was much larger this time and the news crews were zoning in on her. Some cheered because they had heard her last speech and some grumbled and threw things on the stage while she made her way to the podium. She dodged them, and Haden was her shield for the ones she couldn't dodge. It was obvious that there were Eldarian haters in the crowd...and human haters. She took a deep breath, looked over at Yori's father then turned back to the crowd and begun the long speak she worked on all week.

Yori shifted uncomfortably behind her. He was scanning the crowd, looking, listening, and sniffing for any signs that any of them might be doing something. His father had given him an ear device which let him hear more then he normally would. He said it was standard issue for body guards, so he might as well look the part. There was no real sign of danger. He heard a few people muttering curses and death threats, but he could see any weapons on them.

As he started to relax, his eyes narrowed as he heard something charging. He scanned the crowd, trying to single out the sound to see where it was coming from. Before he could find the target, he heard the energy release. He acted purely on impulse. "Alana!" He jumped, and pushed her off stage as the bolt of energy slammed into his chest. Pain shocked his core as he landed limply on the ground.

All hell broke out in that instant. Those who supported Alana and his father tried to stop the guy who shot at Alana. Those who didn't tried to stop the people who were trying to stop him. In short, a riot ensued.

Alana landed hard on the ground. She didn't have time to react or to cry in pain before she was being kicked and stomped on by those who were fighting. Someone grabbed her hand and pulled her to her feet and she cried out. Her shoulder was dislocated from the fall and a few of her ribs felt broken from Eldarian feet that had accidentally stepped on her. She was scratched up and bleeding, but that wasn't as back as her ribs or shoulder. She held her body and tried to look for Yori. She knew he was hurt but she couldn't see him.

"Haden!" she yelled. Her voice barely heard over the sounds of screams and yells.

Every part of his body hurt. That was a new feeling for him. Energy still crackled around him from where the plasma bolt slammed into his chest. There was a hole in his chest. He just realized that. It hurt...at least, it should, but he couldn't feel it.

While the chaos erupted Yori's father quickly took charge, sending out the cops to try and stop the riots. That lasted all of ten seconds before a feral growl erupted from the podium. Blood splattered everywhere as Yori's claws tore through the people who were attacking Alana. Human. Eldarian. It didn't matter. They were hurting her. They were going to pay. The humans stood no chance without their guns. The Eldarian's that were attacking her didn't fair much better. He spent years fighting in the arena. They couldn't match his combat prowess.

He should be happy. For once his two sides agree upon something. As his claws raked through the chest of an Aldarian, he grabbed at a human and flung him off stage. His fighting was graceful, elegant, and precise...with just a tinge of bloodlust mixed in. It was the golden eyed Yori's fighting style...but blue eyed Yori was the one using it. His feelings for Alana mixed with his other half's murderous rage and skill. A deadly combination to say the least.

As he flung the last human from the stage he growled at the Eldarian's. In the struggle his collar had broken off, so nothing he said was in English. He flexed his claws and growled once more. The Eldarian's quickly scattered, limping and bleeding. Yori looked down at Alana. She was a mess. Even though he was cut up, shot, bleeding, and it seemed as if he got burned somewhere down the line...his only concern was her.

He growled at his father who quickly called for an ambulance.

Alana reached over and grabbed Yori's collar and held it close to her chest. She didn't want it getting into the wrong hands. She could the steps to the stage and walked up them while holding her ribs and shoulder. Once she was next to Yori, she allowed herself to slip to the ground on her knees.

She let her tears free but she smirked at him. "You look like shit," she said. "Pop my shoulder back in. Try not to break it. Then I want you to take your collar and get out of here."

He looked down at her. He caressed her face. He didn't care who saw. They were all too busy fighting over the riot to pay attention to them. Besides, he was already in trouble as it was. He wasn't certain that some of those humans were going to make it. His hand slid down to her shoulder and grabbed her bicep. Placing his hand on her other shoulder, he knelt down so that he could meet her eyes. He'd had this done before. It hurt. A lot. He motioned for her to take a breath since his collar was busted he really couldn't say anything that she would understand. She seemed to get the gist of it, however, and as soon as she did it he pushed and popped it back into place with a loud crack.

When she pushed the collar toward him, he shook his head and pointed at her and then toward the hover medics who were coming to get her. He didn't want to leave her. She could still be in danger.

She screamed out in pain and had to take deep breaths after her popped her shoulder back in place. Alana stood and looked at him harshly. "Do as I say!" she screamed and handed him the collar. "Go now!" she demanded, hoping Golden Yori would understand this enough to know it was wiser to leave than to stay. She needed Golden Yori more than Blue Yori right now.

Yori looked down at the collar and then to her. He frowned, but he soon heard the police yelling at him. He took one last look at her, squeezing her hand before he took off. Every move hurt, but he had to run as fast as he could so that he could away from them. Placing his collar in his mouth he ran on all fours, disappearing into the chaos and confusion.

His father was by her side an instant later. "Come with me," he told her. "Let's get you checked out."

Alana watched as Yori ran off. He would be safe. They would have to create a new face for him once again. Sighing, she nodded to Yori's father and he helped her to the ambulance. They cleaned the blood off her and sanitized her wounds then moved to her ribs. Three of them were broken but she refused the construction process. It was a lot more painful than just letting them heal on their own. Instead, she took the bone construction bills that would speed up the process of natural healing. When they weren't looking, Alana grabbed some other things from the ambulance and shoved them in her pockets. Yori would need it.

After they bandaged her up, she spoke with the police. She told them she fired Haden and he ran off. She said she didn't want to socialize with a killer and that now that he wasn't employed with her, he wasn't her concern and it wasn't her responsibility to know where he was.

They then ask Alana why Haden seemed so chummy with her. She glared at them. "When you have a bodyguard, you need them to be close to you. Is it my fault we became such good friends!?" she snapped. "I'm going home. I have to find a new bodyguard."

"Hold on, Alana," his father said as he stopped her. "Let me take you home. It's not safe for you to go anywhere by yourself right now." He turned to the cops. "Do they know who the shooter was?"

The cop shook his head. "Some say it was a human. Some say an Eldarian. I'll leave it up to your imagination which said which. We'll be going through paperwork and statements for a month until we figure it out."

Yori's father nodded. "Well then, I've already given you my statement. I think it would be best if I took Alana home now."

Alana sat in Yori's father's hover car as he drove. She pulled out a few things from her pockets and looked at them. She had grabbed some Eldarian medical supply the hospital uses when an Eldarian was seriously injured. Her hands ran over her ribs, wincing light.

"At least it's not a hole in my chest..." she mumbled to herself.

His father nodded. "Yes, Yori seemed rather...insistent to save you," he said, never taking his eyes off the road. "He also seemed rather accustomed to touching you."

"I pay him to make sure I'm safe at all times. I trip and fall a lot...so I have him play doctor to fix me up so I don't have to go to the hospital. I live alone; otherwise I'd ask my aunt to do it. But Yori is the only one there so it's up to him. I pay him extra to do it," she said as she looked out the window. Why did Yori have to touch her? Couldn't he just have ran and left her be?

"I see. Well, I'm glad that you two get a long so well. Yori isn't always the easiest person to deal with. So I'm glad that he's found a friend." As he pulled up to Alana's house, he escorted her inside. Sniffing the place, he nodded. No one was in the house. No one. "Yori isn't here," he said slowly. "If he was afraid he was being followed he might have gone some place else to hide." He sighed. "I hate to admit it, but you probably know my son better than I do. Do you have any idea where he might have gone?"

Alana shook her head. "No...the only other place we went to together was the park." Where was Yori?

He frowned and picked up his phone. He dialed his daughter who picked up almost immediately. He had to hold the phone from his ear because she was yelling. "I think I found him," he told her. "Don't worry. We have some medicine for him. Just keep him there. We'll be there in a few minutes."

He hung up and looked at her. "If you want, you can stay here and rest. I can take the medicine to Yori."

"No, I want to go," she said. "Just give me a second." She walked inside and went to her wall safe. She got out a stack of money then went back out to the hover car. "I have his salary. He usually gives it to his sister. Mind as well give it to her myself."

He looked back at her with curiosity. "That's quite a large sum for my son," he said. "If he gives all his money to his sisters, then how does he afford to live her and eat?" He was curious about their 'working' arrangement. As they slid back into his car, he started off toward Yori's sister's house.

"He lives free here and eats free here as long as he does his job well enough and play doctor when I need him to." She looked at him. "He does a lot more for me then just being a bodyguard. He's my friend. I would have let him stay at my place for free if he needed a place to go." She then thought a moment. "Of course, if it wasn't forbidden I would."

His father looked at her and nodded. "Well, to me...it seems that sometimes the forbidden things are the ones most tempting."
