As they pulled up to Midori's place, she was standing outside to greet them. Though 'greet' wasn't exactly the right word. "Do you want to explain to me why the hell my little brother came in looking like he just took on a Scrying Doom Worm?"
"There were...complications at the speech today. Alana was nearly killed. That put Yori into...one of his moments," he said, looking over at Alana. "But he seemed more in control this time.""That's cause I am." Yori walked out, looking like himself save for the fact that he wasn't wearing anything other than boxers and was still covered in his blood. His eyes were golden. "Yo!" He waved to his dad who was obviously confused. While Midori tried to explain it he looked over at Alana.
"Fish boy made it absolutely clear that I had to ask you this as soon as I saw you. Are you okay? How are you doing? Are you mad at him? And...something about wanting fish for dinner." He shook his head. "Also I'm under strict orders to be as nice to you as possible." He tossed the apple core down on the ground and kicked it.
"The little runt is blackmailing and threatening me. On one hand I'm rather proud of him for being so devious. On the other hand...if Yori is blackmailing people who can you trust nowadays? I mean, it's Yori." He shook his head. Seemingly oblivious to his wounds.
Alana walked over to him and handed him the things she had. She pulled him off to the side so they could speak in private. "Your father asked a lot of questions. I'm...glad that I'm talking with you instead of Blue Yori. Look, you have to get it into his head that he can not touch me in public. Not ever again. I had to clean up the tracks." She glanced at his father then back at Yori. "I'm glad you fixed the collar. Make sure he knows I'm not mad...and I'm fine." She lifted her shirt slightly to show him the bandages. "Just a few broken ribs, a sore arm, and I'm scratched up a bit. How are you?" Her eyes softened. "I was really scared something might have happened to you. We'll need to make you a new face and give you a new name."
"Don't worry. The runt and I had...a heart to heart so to speak," he told her. "He was afraid you'd be mad at him for touching you. That and he was really drained from the injuries and worrying about, so I took over. And this," he touched his collar, "is only temporary. I came here cause I knew my sister had an extra one. I'll have to get mine fixed somewhere, but that means I'll have to go to someone who actually knows how to fix these."
He shook his head as she looked at his wounds. "They're not that bad. I've had worse. We can worry about the face and name later. Fish boy wants to come out so he can see for himself that you're okay." As he said this, the other Yori took over.
"There were police at your house searching for me," he told her. "That's the reason I came here." He looked down at her, confirming that she was indeed okay. "I can't believe.... I should have moved faster. I can't believe someone actually tried to kill you." He wanted to hug her and hold her, but his father was here. His other half's warning still ringing in his head. He pushed his hands in his pockets so he wouldn't be tempted.
Alana smiled. She brought her hand up to caress his face but stopped quickly and pulled back. "I'm ok. I have pills that will help my healing. You and Golden Yori are really getting alone. Maybe...this was just what was needed. He was nice to me. That was a change." Glancing over at his father and sister, she brushed his tail with her finger tips before pulling back. It was just a small touch of thanks.
Yori smiled. "We finally found a common ground," he told her happily. "That and I found something to use against him." He got a really evil look on his face as he slid his hands together menacingly like that one evil scientist in a movie he'd seen. He stopped and smiled when she brushed his tail. It was the small things which mattered to him.
"What have you found to use against him?" she asked.
He was beaming as he told her. "It's something sooo evil! Even my other me thought it was bad." He was grinning ear to ear, his tail danced about excitedly. "He hates pop music. So I told him that if he was mean to you I'd listen to it nonstop while I was in control. Then I'd get it stuck in my head, which would mean that he'd get it stuck in his head!" He laughed. "So, he promised to be nicer from now on."
Alana frowned. "Wow...you just got lame on me..." she grumbled. She walked over to his sister and handed her the stack of money. "His payment."
Yori's jaw dropped and he stood in the corner pouting as she said this. He though it was a good idea.
Midori looked at the money and gasped. "This is too much," she told her. She looked over at Yori who was acting all gloomy...and still bleeding. "Yori! Use the stuff they gave you!"
"Yes sis," he said sorrowfully.
"He did just risk his life for me. I think that deserves a raise," she said and looked back at Yori. "Read it before you use it. I know how you like to skip steps."
Yori frowned and looked at the directions. All the while his father just stood back and watched this. It was like Yori had two sisters now, though he couldn't shake the feeling that there was more to his and Alana's relationship which met the eye. Something about the way they acted.... Then there was what his daughter just told him about Yori having a split personality. That was a lot to take it, but it made sense.
Midori looked at the money and then to Yori. "Please, the next time you decide to give a speech both of you need to wear some sort of protection. Because you're bound to get shot and my idiot brother is bound to jump in the way of the blast for you."
Alana watched Yori put the medicine on then turned to Midori. She sighed. "I'm sorry," she said, side glancing at Yori. "I'll make sure he won't be so foolish next time." She looked at the sky. "It's going to rain. I better go." She looked over at Yori. "Are you staying here tonight?"
He looked over at his sister and then to Alana. He shook his head as he finished rubbing the cream over his chest. "I'd like..." He looked over at his father. "I don't think that it's a good idea for you to be home alone right now. I'd better go with you."
Alana shook her head. "I'll be fine on my own. Stay with your family," she said. "I'll see you when you are better." She waved to his father and sister and started walking home.
Yori watched Anna leave, his ears falling as she started walking. He looked over at Midori who sighed and rolled her eyes. "Go on and make certain she gets home safely."
He smiled and bounded after her. As soon as Yori was out of ear shot his father looked over at Alana. "Yori seems to really...care about that human...."
Yori caught up to Alana in a few moments. "There's no way I'm letting you walk home alone."
Alana looked down at him. "Yori...you are in your boxers."
Yori looked down. His cheeks turned red. "Well...it's late. No one should see," he told her.
Alana took off her coat. "Here, so you don't freeze," she smirked. She watched as he squeezed into it. They continued to walk. After a few minutes, they were at her door. "Go home. Get your collar fixed. Come back when you are all better. I won't leave the house until then. Now hurry and leave before my neighbors see you in your underwear while wearing my jacket."
Yori bit his lip as he looked at her. Slowly he nodded. He didn't want a repeat of last time. "Take care. I'll come back tomorrow. Be safe...and," in the darkness he blew her a kiss. His movements were shadowed by his jacket. That should be safe enough. With that he bounded off into the night.
Alana smiled as he disappeared. Going in her house she set the alarm then went upstairs to sleep. Her body ached horrible. She didn't even bother to change as she laid on the bed, trying hard to get comfortable with her broken ribs.
The next morning Yori took some of his money and went to the only person he knew who knew how to fix their collars. It was a human, but he made his life off of fixing stuff for the Eldarian's. He was a “don't ask don't tell” kind of person, and Yori liked him. While he fixed his collar, Yori sat down and played with his tail. His wounds from the other day were now nothing more than scars. Hopefully tomorrow they wouldn't even be that.
When his collar was done he quickly swapped his and his sister's out. He smiled as he ran his hand over the familiar material. He then started to Alana's house. It was still early morning, so he would have to avoid being seen.
Alana took a few of the pills to help her heal then groaned. Why couldn't humans be like Eldarians and help in a matter of hours to days? It was so unfair at how fragile she was. She walked around her house, sighing at the emptiness. She hadn't been alone in it for a long time. She turned off the alarm on the house in case Yori decided to sneak in instead of creating a new face.
Yori jumped through the window. Tripping over his tail and landing flat on his back. "Ow..." He laid there for a few moments before finally getting up and sniffing out Alana. He gently hugged her from behind and nuzzled her neck. "How are you feeling?"
Alana pulled his arms from her while wincing. "Please...don't do that..." she said and turned to him. "Really sore. Not all of us are super heroes," she said poking him in the chest. "Wish I was super awesome like that."
He smiled and kissed her. "You'd make a cute Eldarian," he told her. "Maybe you should get a holo ring like me. Then you could heal up quickly."
Alana smirked. "I don't think they work like that." She then grew serious. "About yesterday...don't do that anymore ok? Jumping in front of energy blasts it's part of your job description. I..." she rubbed his ears, "I don't like seeing your hurt. And try not to touch me in public. You're father is suspicious."
He purred as she rubbed his ears. "But I'm suppose to protect you. If you'd gotten hit with that you would've been really hurt maybe even...dead. After a night of healing I'm fine. As long as they don't start using bigger guns it's a lot safer for me to take the hit than you."
At the mention of his dad he frowned. "Yeah, dad kept looking at me funny last night." There was a pause. "Funnier than usual. I'm sorry about touching you. I was just worried. It won't happen again."
"I promised your sister I wouldn't let you get hurt. If I'm meant to die...then I'll die," she said. She wrapped her arms around his and rested her head on his chest. "Now that Golden Yori has calmed a bit, maybe now I can get to know him better. Maybe even care about him as I do you."
Yori sighed. "Can we not talk about you dying? I'll take shots for you as long as I'm breathing," he told her. She was talking about his other half again. It still made him nervous leaving her with him. He didn't like to share.
She lightly racked her nails along his back as she nuzzled his neck. "We don't have to talk about it." She closed her eyes. As much as she didn't like admitting it, she missed his arms around her. "I think later tonight you should let Golden Yori out so he and I can talk. I'll record it again if you want."
He nodded against her. "If that's what you want, but for now can we simply enjoy the moment?" He smiled as he pressed his lips to hers and slowly pried her lips open with his tongue. When he pulled back, he leaned his head against hers. His hands gently ran over her body as he purred and held her.
For the rest of the day, Alana and Yori cuddled while watching movies. Later that night she laid on her bed in her pajamas while he sat in his boxer. Alana pushed record for the TV to record. "Ok, bring him out."
Yori pouted. Kissing her one last time he closed his eyes and felt the increasingly familiar shudder as he was shoved into the back seat of his mind. Opening up his golden eyes he looked her up and down, a smirk on his lips. He was about to say something when he winced. "Fish boy says you wish to talk," he said, rubbing his head. Stupid pop songs.
Alana smiled. "That's cute. He has so much power over you."
"He does not!" He quickly retorted, his eyes narrowing as he glared at her. "You wanted to talk and here I am."
"Oh come on, Goldie. Don't be so uptight. There has to be something you like about me besides the idea of sex. If we are going to get along, we need to start getting to know each other better."
"Goldie?" He was glaring daggers at her by this point. He was about to turn her into a scratching post when he stopped and took a deep breath. "Goldie it is," he said slowly. "As I stated before. Fish boy likes you, therefore I like you. I like your body. You're pretty. It's nice watching you when we fool around. All the emotional and heart touching stuff is all fish boy."
Alana groaned. She sat up and winced lightly. Moving closer to him, she settled in front of him. "There is nothing you like other than my body? Nothing at all? Then you aren't afraid of losing me at all?"
"There were...complications at the speech today. Alana was nearly killed. That put Yori into...one of his moments," he said, looking over at Alana. "But he seemed more in control this time.""That's cause I am."
