As the sun started to rise, they were finally calming down and trying to go to sleep. The sheets were torn and a mess, but that didn't seem to bother them. They were too exhausted. Even he was sore and tired, which was saying something. His chest, legs, and arms looked as if he got into a fight and lost. Though he had been more then happy to lose that fight.
Alana rolled over and snuggled into Yori's chest and her arm wrapped around him. She was breathing hard, but her eyes were closed. She was exhausted and all she could think about was sleep. Her body ached badly and she was bleed like it was her first time. She only carried a few bruises and a few claw marks considering what she had done to him. He had gone gentle with her.
It was nearly noon before Yori finally woke up. He yawned and looked down at her. His blue eyes twinkled as he kissed her head and he slipped out of bed. He looked at the left over fish that they never got around to eating. Shrugging, he downed what was left and got in the shower. It wasn't until he was in there that he realized he had bruises and cuts all over him. What had he done last night? Shrugging, he tenderly washed himself off and got dressed in boxers and pants before going downstairs to fix breakfast.
Alana ran her hand over the mattress. Her eyes opened when she noticed that Yori wasn't there anymore. Sitting up, she winced and groaned. She could smell breakfast. Going to the bathroom, she showered then changed. She had a smile on her face as she came downstairs. That smile widened when she saw Yori cooking. Her arms moved around him from behind.
"Last night was wonderful, Yori. But don't put Eldarian catnip in my breakfast," she said with a lightly laugh as she buried her face in his back.
"Uh, I'll make sure not to," he said. Ever since he and his other self had been swapping, he'd been able to remember bits and pieces of what happened. As soon as she talked about the catnip he caught small glimpses of what had happened. "I'll just make sure to save it for dinner." He looked back so that she could see that it was him and not his other self. "But last night was fun."
Alana pulled back. She pushed her hair behind her ears when she saw it was Blue Yori. "Oh...I just thought he would wake up with me..." she said slowly. She fond herself smitten with him...and missing him. She quickly put on a smile and kissed Yori. "I missed you yesterday. You missed a lot. I'll catch you up over breakfast."
"No need," he said as he tapped his head. "I'm starting to remember what's going on when he's in control. Well, bits and pieces at least." He caught the look of disappointment in her eyes when she realized it was him and not his other self. He tried not to let it bother him. He failed.
Putting her food on a plate he slid it toward her as he fixed himself another plate so that he could sit down and eat with her.
Alana nodded. "I was going to talk to Gold Yori about what your father asked me, but since you are here I'll ask you and ask him another time..." she said then started eating. "Your father wants to get us diplomatic immunity so we can come out to the public. I told him I would talk it over with you...both of you."
He nodded. "We don't see a problem with that," he told her, making certain to use the plural term. "As far as we're concerned, being out in the open will make life easier and harder. No more disguises for one, and we can act how we want in public...but it'll put you in danger more. That's the only thing we don't like about it."
"I'm not afraid of the dangers for me. But if we do this, then I want your sisters moved to somewhere safe. You are a prince among your people...I don't think they will see me worthy enough to have you," she said honestly. "And...I may loose all my money from my aunt so we defiantly need to withdraw a shit tone of cash."
He smiled. "I don't think you realize how little my title means to my people. Well, most of them anyways. The younger generation couldn't care, it's the older ones which still respect the...hi...the hie...the royal stuff." He ate his food, scarfing it down with gusto. "As for money...I could always rob a bank." He smiled so she'd know he was joking. "Or if my memories are right...you got strong enough to hold up a bank last night." He ran his hand over the multiple cuts and bruises.
Alana held up her hands in defense. "Not my fault! Golden Yori drugged me and I was the victim."
He just smiled sheepishly. "I know, though I'm surprised that you could even walk after all that."
"I'm ok," she said with a shrug. "Since your father talked to me yesterday, you can talk to him today and tell him we are in. I'll with draw some money before it's too late. I still have my trust fund, which she can't take from me, but I won't get it until I'm eighteen."
He looked at her, his hand going on top of hers. "When me...and the other me, discussed this, we were mainly thinking about your physical well being. I don't think we even considered what your aunt might do.... If you want, we can keep it a secret for a while longer."
"Who cares what she thinks?" Alana said sharply. "I have saved a lot over the years, but I want to get a little more out of the before anything happens so I'll be set before I turn eighteen. When I turn eighteen, I'll be set for life. She can't touch my trust fund," she said.
Yori looked at her, his head turning to the side even as she got angry. "You may not like her, but she is family Alana."
Alana stood and glared at him. "I don't know what a family is! Lay off my back!"
She left him there then went up to her and grabbed a bag. She put all her money from the safe in it then called the bank and told her how much she wanted out. They were sending it to her. After taking care of that, she started packing her clothes in suit cases. She would find an apartment as soon as the word was out.
Yori didn't say anything as she got up and left. He took their plates and dumped them into the disposal unit. After washing off the plates, he went up to his room and just curled up on the bed. He was still sleepy, and he'd made Alana mad. Maybe telling the media wasn't such a good idea? It would make all their lives harder. Was it worth it though? He really liked Alana, he liked her a lot. He'd taken a bullet for her, so why couldn't he do this for her...for both of them....
Alana heard Yori in the other room. She sighed. She snapped at him. It wasn't her fault she was mad. Family was a sore spot for her. She had all the money in the world yet no one to share it with before Yori. Everyone she was related to had nothing to do with her. While she packed, she cleaned off the bed and put new sheets, pillows, and blankets on it. She sat on her bed and clicked on the video phone. She dialed out Yori's father and waited for him to pick up.
His father picked up after a few rings. "Yes? Oh, Alana. You look....well, you look tired. Is everything okay?"
"Yes...long night," she said with a blush. She shook it off. "Listen, we've decided to do it if you can get us the immunity," she told him. "I think you should move your daughters to a safe house though...I don't want them to get caught up in this."
He smiled, noting the blush on her cheeks. Apparently his son took after his old man. "I'll talk to Midori, but I doubt I'll be able to change her mind." Looking at Alana, he gave her a wide smile. "I am glad that you are going to do this. I'll talk to the president and see what I can arrange for you. Until you get the okay from me don't say anything."
"Tell your daughter I won't do this unless she and the other two are safe. I won't risk their safety," she said quickly. "I won't do anything until you tell me too."
"Good. Is Yori there? I'd like to speak with him about this as well."
"Yes," she said. She stood and walked over to the joined doors. She opened them and looked at Yori. "Your father wants to speak with you," she said and stepped to the side so he could see that his father was on the video phone.
Yori looked up and over at the monitor. Getting up, he made his way to the screen. "Hey dad," he said softly.
There was a choking sound on his father's end as he saw his son's chest. "Well, um, yes, I take it that it was a very long night for you two. I-" He was about to say more when a special news bulletin popped up on their screens.
HUMAN GIRL INVOLVED IN LOVE AFFAIR WITH ELDARIAN PRINCE?
His father paled as he read the caption. "Turn on the news," he ordered as he did the same.
Yori looked over at Alana who was already doing as he asked.
"Today, we pose a question. Can a human love an Eldarian? Here you will see Alana Homes, who is protesting for Eldarian rights. Beside her is her guard Haden, who after several searches does not actually exist. After the failed attempt on her life and Haden's outburst resulting in the deaths of one Eldarian and three humans, police searched for him, but could find nothing.
At her next speech she showed up with a new guard, sporting a matching suit to her dress. After a few concerned looks during the speech, we later see her with the prince of the Eldarian's, wearing the exact same suit as before. A suit that a local tailor said was suppose to be one of a kind."
Alana had to sit down. She didn't even make it to the bed as her legs collapsed under her and she slipped to the ground. She watched the screen as her body shook. She was terrified. Of course, they had no solid proof, but it wouldn't change the fact that people would talk. She turned to Yori's father quickly.
"Get that immunity now! My life is on the line!"
He was nodding, still staring at the screen. "It will take some time. I'll send another holo ring by your house. Use it and go somewhere until I can get you the immunity." He turned off the screen so that he could get to work.
Yori didn't waste time. He stood and began putting the rest of her clothes into her bags. They were going to have to leave now.
Alana rushed down stairs to her mail shoot. The bank had already sent her the money and she let out a deep breath. She grabbed all of it and tossed it in the bag with the rest of the money. Moments later, a holo ring came through the shoot. She put it on then rushed back upstairs and help Yori pack. The whole time she was shaking. Her mind shot back and forth between her death and the trouble she had cause Yori's family. What was his sister thinking now? Of course she had seen the news. She was always into keeping up with the latest ever since Yori got shot.
She did her best to keep herself together, but she was falling apart. She was terrified.
Yori was trying to act strong, but it was hard. He wanted his other self to take over, he would know what to do...but at the same time he wanted to be the one to do something right. He wanted to be the one with the answers. Gathering her clothes in one arm he grabbed what clothe she had and stuffed them into the bag as well. Grabbing his holo ring he started on a new identity. They couldn't see anyone connected to her. "Hurry and do your ring," he told her. "We need to get out of here."
Alana used a common form. She gave herself blue eyes and blond hair. She added a small beauty mark above her red lips. Her hair was wavy and a little shorter than her own. She looked around and took a deep breath. "I'll come back for the rest of my things later. Let's go," she said.
Yori nodded, wincing as he took back on his human form. Any human seen with an Eldarian right now would be subject to question. Grabbing shoes, he put them on as they hurried out the door. "I think I have a place that we can stay," he told her as he took her hand and they started down the street trying not to look too suspicious.
"I'll call you Tye, it's a common human name. You'll call me Lillian. They are simple names, but they will do," she said as they walked. She took her hand from him. "Please...not now..."
He looked down as she pulled her hand away. "Fine," he said as they started walking. Already he could see cars of people and reporters heading toward her house. This was definitely not good. They walked for a while, he wanted to make certain that they weren't being followed, and since he couldn't sniff them out right now he was going to have to play it cool like a normal human and just double take every now and then. Once he was certain they weren't being followed, he took them to a small motel on the border of the Eldarian zone. The owners were humans, but they were old and friendly. They often hired him to do work for them, and he knew they were nice people.
Alana knew she had hurt Yori's feelings when she let go of his hand. But physical contact was what got them into this mess. She just wasn't ready to hold his hand...in any form...in public unless she knew she and he weren't going to get killed for it. Her hands ran through her blond hair and she plastered on a smile as the got to the motel. They gave them keys to a room and Alana followed him to it.
The room was small. One bed, a holo screen, a bathroom and a small fridge. She sat on the bed as he put the bags down. For the first time, she was starting to wonder if she was really going to die because of this.
Yori sat their bags down and sat beside her. He didn't know what to say. Somehow sorry just didn't cut it. Picking up the vid phone, he sent his dad their number so that he could call them when he got the chance. "Dad will get your immunity, then you'll be safe," he told her.
"And what about yours?" she asked. "What about your sisters? And how in the world will we be able to find a place to stay now. People won't rent to me knowing I'm with you. I don't think my money can get me out of this now."
He stared at the ground. "Well...I can stay as a human for a little while," he told her. "Or...you can tell people that we aren't...you know. That way you can go back home and won't have to stay in a place like this."
"Do you think I would so easily deny my love for you, Yori?" she whispered looking down at her lap. "I want to see this through."
