"You've got to be fu-" Yori leap frogged over her as she lunged at him. "Great. Now my girlfriend is being controlled by my psycho ex-girlfriend. You know. I really should have seen this coming."
As he said this he had to duck beneath Alana's claws. With Ophelia controlling her body, she was actually a decent fighter. Jumping up, he climbed up the wall and flipped over her. "Ophelia! Last chance! End this now!"
"And just why would I do that?" She purred, enjoying the fight taking place.
"I warned you," Yori growled. He stopped moving and let out a loud feral roar. "Eldarians! Now!" His roar echoed through the building, and soon it was joined with a chorus of other growls as Eldarian warriors began to appear from the shadows, armed and primed for war.
Alana body took this as a chance to strike. She lunged forward, flying past the others and landing on Yori. Her hand went to his throat and the other to one of his hands, pinning it down. "Yori...I can't stop..." she said through her tears. "Kill me..."
Yori gasped for air as her claws tightened around his throat drawing blood. His one hand was practically useless, pinned beneath her grip. He struggled to say something. To yell at her or talk some sense into her. That was easier said than done as his oxygen was being cut off.
His free hand went up to Alana's ears and pulled roughly at them, his tail wrapping around her neck in an attempt to subdue her.
Alana screamed in pain over her ears. She jumped back, flipping in the air and landing on her feet while rubbing her ear. She was in tears now. Not because she was in pain, but because she couldn't stop herself from going after Yori. She was quick and she didn't know how. She was graceful and had more balance than ever. Alana watched him slowly stand and she fought with herself. Her body stepped forward and she struggled to keep herself at bay. Doing so caused pain, most likely part of Ophelia's plan. If she resisted, it would hurt. "Please! Kill me!" Alana screamed as she went to one knee. The pain was over baring, but she had to keep herself from striking at Yori. Her body struggled for her to stand once more.
Yori kept a hand clamped to his throat as blood dripped from it. "I told you I was going to get your trust back. Killing you seems like a step in the wrong direction." He tried to keep an eye on her while watching the battle. His warriors were strong, but the Reavers were literally born to kill. They had to stop Ophelia. The rest were nothing more than slaves to her will. Slaves, that were tearing through his warriors like paper.
"Alana, I really don't want to hurt you," he told her. He hated to think about it, but maybe he should break her leg, just to keep her from going after him.
Alana couldn't hold back and longer, the pain was unbearable. "No..." she whispered and went for him. Her claws slashed and he ducked making her fall forward. She hit the ground and rolled, the gun slipping from her side. She grabbed it and pointed it at his head, but just before she could pull the trigger, she pointed it at herself. The gun went off and she hit the ground with a large hole in her stomach.
"Alana!" Yori growled as he watched her fall. Damnit. Did she have to be so dramatic about everything? He could have simply broken a leg....
There was a growl behind him and pain filled his shoulders. Ophelia stabbed her claws deep into her arms as she threw him back to the ground. "Your little girls are all dying, lover. You better choose quickly whether you want to be with me or you want everyone to die."
Yori jumped back in pain. She'd hit nerves, he could barely move his arms. "There's another option, Ophelia. You can still give up."
Opehlia licked the blood from her claws and purred. "And just why would I do that? I have everything I want right here."
Yori took a deep breath. This was going to suck so bad. Charging Ophelia, she crouched and knocked him out of the air. Their claws were violently swinging through the air. Hair, fur, skin, and blood was splattered across the ground as they bit and clawed at each other.
The sounds of their growling seemed to overshadow the turbulent fight beneath them. Pushing Ophelia back, Yori fell to one knee and glared at her.
She landed gracefully, wiping blood from her lip. "It's over, Yori. I'm afraid that you're just going to have to die."
"Bite me bitch."
"Already did that love."
As she lunged at him, Yori fell back, his feet ramming into her stomach with his claws stabbing into her flesh. Rolling with the momentum, he pushed her beneath him and slashed his claws across her throat. He kept her pinned there, watching the life fade from her eyes. Only once he was certain she was dead did he stand on shaking and bleeding legs.
"Stop! Ophelia is dead." He raised his broken hand for the Reavers to see his ring. "As ruler of the Eldarians, you are to follow my orders. Cease this immediately."
The confusion of war soon died down, as the Eldarian warriors and Reavers fell to their knees in respect. Yori couldn't care less what they did. Stumbling over to Alana, he fell by her side and hit her in the head. "Idiot."
She was gasping for air but smiling. "Had...to...be quick..." she said between breaths. "Just...a...flesh wound." She looked up at the ceiling while trying to concentrate. She would heal...just really really slow. But would the drug wear off once she was healed? Would she still want to kill Yori?
"Yeah, well next time just stand still and let me break your leg," he told her. He stroked her ear lovingly as he checked her wound. He was clawed to hell and back, with pieces of his bone actually showing, and yet he was still more worried about her. He was going crazy. "You're still and idiot."
"You are one to talk," she said wincing as she moved. "I blame you for this." She glanced at him. "You look like hell."
"I'm fine," he assured her. Watching as a portion of his flesh fell off as he moved. That wasn't good. "And how can you blame me for you shooting yourself?"
"You let her inject crazy 'Kill Yori' juju in me," she said. "How am I going to get home? You obviously aren't going to touch me...you are icky," she said. She looked down at her chest. "Looks weird to have a hole in me and not be dead. Where's your dad when I need him?"
"I didn't let her. I wasn't even there when that happened." He fell back slightly. Blood loss was a bitch. "Eldarian DNA just saved your life." He yelled and Rhiana came to his side.
"Could you please help her home? She needs to rest and heal."
"My Lord, with all due respect you need to-"
"I'm fine, Rhiana. I'll heal."
"Do not listen to him. He's a little on the stupid side in case you haven't noticed," Alana argued.
"You...be quiet," Yori said, shaking his head as he stood. Holding the wall for support he nodded for Rhiana to help Alana up. "You go home and rest. I need to go talk to dad about this."
She glared at him. "Stop trying to ditch me, prince boy!" she yelled then winced. "Ouch...damn hole." She looked back at him. "I'm going with you. They may follow your orders but I don't ever do anything you say."
Yori groaned. Why couldn't he have the whole mind control thing that Ophelia had. He stopped and looked her over. "You don't feel all psycho and want to kill me do you?"
"Not yet, but keep pushing me and see what happens," she groaned. Rhiana tried to help her walk to the door she pulled away. "If you don't stop touching me I'm going to bite you," she warned. "I will bite you so hard I'll take the meat off."
Yori sighed. "Go ahead and tend to the wounded," he told Rhiana. Yori took three steps and slumped slightly, catching the railing to keep him steady. "You don't have to threaten everyone," he told her. "Besides, biting people is bad. Bad kitty."
Alana moved to him and took off her jacket. She put it around him. "Come on, Sir Hops Along. Let's get you to your daddy."
"Sir Hops Along? Really, Alana." Yori turned and spit out more blood. God, he was going to be tasting blood for a month. Looking at her, he groaned before gently leaning against her for support. She was strong enough to support his weight, so she would have to deal with it until he started healing.
Alana winced more than a million times as they made their way back to his father's house. Hopefully he would be awake and the body of the woman she kill would be gone. She knocked on the door. "Special Delivery."
Midori opened the door and groaned as she motioned for them to go sit down on the couch. "Dad woke up not too long ago. News has already spread about what happened. You're lucky to be alive. I can't believe the Reavers would do something like this. The entire city...it's nothing but Eldarians now."
Yori winced as he sat back on the couch. He was going to stain it, but he couldn't care right now. "So the entire city...it's been...."
Midori nodded. "The virus spread. They're working to stop it from going further."
Alana looked at the blood stain on the floor. She knew it was from the woman she killed. "Sorry about that...my first kill. Couldn't have been cleaner," she said then sat down as well.
Midori looked at the blood and shrugged. "It's okay. I've gotten good at cleaning up blood after living with Yori," she laughed. Going to her dad's office she came back with two needles. Stabbing one into each of the injured kids she groaned and sat down. "That should speed up your healing factor.""Thanks," Yori said. He wanted to sleep. Saving the human race was tiring. "So what's going to happen now?""We don't know. Dad's trying to stop this, but from the way it looks there's no way to reverse the effects of the nanites. They are trying to stop the virus from spreading further."
"If he needs someone to test on, I'll do it. I don't mind," Alana said while looking at the hole in her stomach. "I bet I weigh at least twenty pounds less now."
Midori smiled and handed her a towel. "You'll be fine in no time," she assured her. "They're not going to be focusing on a cure until they can get the virus stopped."
"They should melt the snow. The dispose of the water into space like the rest of our waste."
"Easier said than done," Yori told her. "That wasn't the full rank of Reavers. Undoubtedly Ophelia had a contingency plan in case this one failed. There are probably more labs set up to spread the virus."
"Which is exactly what we're looking for." Raize walked through the front door, took one glance at the kids and sighed. "You're lucky that you're not dead."
Yori winced as he pulled his ring off. There was a popping sound as he pushed his finger back into place just to pull it off. "Here."
Raize took the ring and slipped it back on his hand. "You did good, son. You too, Alana."
"Yeah yeah," she said waving her head. "All I did was shoot myself so I wouldn't kill Yori. I'm beginning to think it was a mistake. Can you believe he actually tried to order me to go home?" She laughed lightly. "Stupid Yori."
Yori groaned. "I'm not stupid."
"Listen kids," Raize said with a sigh. "I think that you need a vacation from this."
"I don't like where this is going."
"While I'm busy trying to get this virus handled. I'd like you to do something of a...goodwill mission for me."
"I really don't like where this is going."
"We don't have the technology to fix this, but the Illumians might. After you get healed up and rested. You feel like galaxy hopping?"
Alana paled. "I went into space once...me and the blackness of vastness do not mix." She sat back. "Is this your nice way of telling me I'm getting in the way of progress because I can take it."
Raize smiled and shook his head. "This is my nice way of saying that I'm tired of you kids getting shot, drugged, and mutilated. You're an excellent politician, Alana, you stand a good chance of getting the Illumians to at least listen to our cause. Not to mention they can check your DNA to see what they can do for it."
He was taking off his tie and pouring a drink as he talked. "Consider it a world saving honey moon so to speak."
"What!?" Yori choked.
Raize smiled. "I'm just saying."
"This is no honey moon because there is no 'us,'" Alana said closing her eyes. "I'll do it because you asked me to and because my race kind of depend on it."
Raize and Midori exchanged looks. Yori stood and excused himself. "I'm going to grab another shot," he muttered, closing the door to his dad's office and locking it behind him.
"Um, you want a change of clothes?" Midori asked quickly to fill the sudden awkward void.
Alana stood. "Yes, thanks," she said and followed Midori to her room.
