Max was confused, and feeling more then a little uneasy. Which …wasn’t exactly a new combination of feelings.

But as far as he was concerned, having awoken from hyper sleep on a bizarre planet filled with frisky felines, with no sign of the colony, or even another human, he had every right to his feelings.

Now compound that with being analy plundered by a huge honkin’ cat man, only to find out that you were married to said giant-penis butt taker, who HAD to continue the backdoor filling, and didn’t even bother to put on a kitty condom, or he would die.

Yeah….Max was fairly certain that if anyone else had all that plopped into their lap they wouldn’t react much differently then he had.

Plus all that earned him the right to freak out about any of it, at any time. And if they kitty boy’s didn’t like it? Well….they could pound sand.

However…this time Max wasn’t uneasy about something that was about to happen to him….and of how frequently it was just that. No…this was something new, or at least he thought it was.

He had Kasan had just returned from a trip, and by trip he meant time away from Kasan’s bedroom where the cat would show him new, admittedly cool stuff….then pounce and penetrate him.

Max rubbed his bottom…damn furry eared hornball.

They hadn’t been back for more then five minutes when another pouncing occurred, only this time it wasn’t Max who was getting it. Kasan’s brothers had appeared out of nowhere and…just swarmed all over Kasan, though blessedly NOT in a sexual way.

They had spoken way too fast for Max to be able to make out more then a word or two, but the look on Kasan’s face had worried him. It had jumped all over the spectrum of emotions, and Max didn’t have a clue what would cause Kasan to do that.

He had expected an explanation when the group of giants had left, but to his irritation Kasan had just plastered on a smile, gave Max a kiss and a pat on the butt, then asked him to wait for him in their room.

On a side note it still freaked Max out every single time Kasan called his room THEIR room.

Max had gone to Kasan’s room, not missing the cat men who had followed him. But once he arrived and sat around for a while he began to feel stupid. Something was obviously going on, but instead of letting Max know what it was Kasan had just sent him to the room.

Max was getting tired of the room, after all…nine times out of ten naughty things happened when he was sent to the room. Besides….who did Kasan think Max was? Some kind of kid to be sent away or…more likely Kasan was treating him like his…his…bitch or something!

Max growled under his breath. He wanted to know what was going on, and he wasn’t going to wait for Kasan to go through his usual pattern of come back, molest him whether he wanted it or not, fall asleep, possibly molest him again, wake him up. Then molest once more and then perhaps finally tell him what the hell was going on.

…God damn he got molested a lot….

Nodding affirmatively to himself Max hopped off the giant bed, making sure not to look at the damn sex mirrors Kasan had set up on the ceiling….he was SO going to pay for that.

He was going to go get his answers right now, and if Kasan didn’t like it then…then….then he was cut off! That’s right! He could do that, and he could do one better. Kasan wouldn’t get any and he would sleep on the couch. Yeah!

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Getting by the two humongous-saurs at the door was easy enough, he just walked right on by, they didn’t stop him, though he hated the way their eyes followed his every move. Always felt like they were sizing him up to be eaten. He wasn’t a cookie damn it!

“I don’t’ care what they call it. I hereby dub this planet Pervo, planet of the perves.” Max muttered under his breath.

A little unsure where to start his super-secret-cause-Kasan’s-a-butt chunk information gathering Max simply made his way back towards where they had been when the bro squad had shown up. That was the key to detecting right? Start from the beginning?

There weren’t any shadows to stick too though, so Max just hugged the wall. It turned out that his awesome detective instincts were right on the money, and as he neared the big main entrance he could hear shouting, very loud shouting, of voices he recognized.

Swallowing the lump that had materialized in his throat Max inched himself closer. He wasn’t sure he had ever heard the group yell so loud before, odder still was that the loudest of the voices sounded like Zonta.

Max had a moment of hesitation. What if they were fighting? He totally didn’t want to walk in on that, he could be crushed!

Of course his only other option was to head back to Kasan’s room like a chicken boy, and he wasn’t a chicken! He was…a…a very brave thing that wasn’t even remotely poultry related!

Finally reaching the corner Max carefully peered around it, and…was a bit overwhelmed by what he saw.

Zonta was right up in the giant of giants, Tisu’s, face and the two of them were practically screaming at each other, their sharp teeth gleaming in the light.

The rest were gathered around the two, though no one seemed to be making much of an effort to break it up.

That was up until the much smaller Roto interjected himself between the two. Max watched in fascination as Roto, who had to be two or three feet shorter and at least a couple hundred pounds lighter, completely cowed the angry giant that was Tisu.

Max couldn’t quite make out what was being said, he had made considerable progress in learning the native tongue, but he had yet to have a class on top of the lungs yelling all mixed in together.

Roto wasn’t yelling near as loud, but form his tone and body language Max could see he was like…scolding Tisu. More amazing was the fact that Tisu seemed to wilting more and more by the second, his ears were flat, shouldering slumping.

Max was secretly thrilled.

“Go Roto!” He cheered. “Show these big people thy can’t push us smaller guys around!”

But thought Tisu seemed to be shutting down, Zonta showed no signs of calming any time soon. He had turned his attentions to Aosh, who seemed to be defending himself with just as much force, and both were making motions towards something on a table that Max couldn’t see.

Where they fighting over something? Or…someone?

It seemed silly, but from what Kasan had already shown…they were a rather possessive people. That thought provoked another…had Kasan fought for him at first?

He didn’t have time to focus on that for long as Kasan suddenly took Zonta by the arm. It wasn’t a violent motion, looked more like Kasan was trying to calm him down. But the moment Kasan touched him Zonta turned and snarled. With one big thumping shove Kasan went stumbling back, only to smack against the stone wall before he could regain his balance.

Now that scared Max.

If anything Zonta had come across as the nicest, gentlest, sweetest of them all. Not that Kasan wasn’t all those things at times, but Kasan was also a horny bastard. So if he was being super friendly one moment, there were probably hidden motives behind it.
And by motives Max meant his penis. Which Kasan always wanted to “hide” inside of him.

Not to mention Kasan was practically a superhero, what with his wall climbing, back flip-Falling Max catching, and super ass kicking abilities.

Zonta was really the only one other then Kasan that he could be all alone with and not feel threatened. Plus he didn’t get pounced around Zonta.

But now…it seriously looked like Zonta and Kasan were about to throw down. Kasan was glaring up at Zonta, he looked stern, but not too aggressive. But Zonta looked pissed.

Max didn’t know who to worry for really. Kasan had already proven himself to be superhero tough, but Max didn’t know anything about Zonta. He was a lot bigger then Kasan after all.

For all he knew Zonta was actually like a…kitty-fu master or something.

Zonta was growling something that Max couldn’t even hope to make up, but whatever it was Kasan sure didn’t seem to like it, as he was growling right back. Max didn’t know what was going on, he certainly hadn’t expected this when he had set out. All he did know was that he didn’t want the only two giants he felt safe and comfortable around beating the crap out of each other.
Steeling himself Max jumped around the corner.

“*No fighting!!*” He shouted as loud as he could.

Humorously everyone froze, but it wasn’t so funny when well over a ton of raw muscle turned its attention on him.

“*Max….*” Kasan said softly.

Pushing away form Zonta Kasan practically rushed to his side. Once Kasan moved however Max was finally able to get a better look at whatever was on the table, unfortunately there was a white sheet wrapped around it, so he couldn’t tell what it was.

It did look kinda person shaped though, but a lot smaller then the brothers or even Roto. A kid maybe? Was someone hurt?

Kneeling down once he reached him Kasan put his hands on Max’s shoulders.

“*Kasan asked Gisho to wait in room.*” Kasan said softly.

Max rolled his eyes, cause always waiting on the bed didn’t make him feel like a prostitute at all…

“*What going on Kasan?*” Max asked. “*What is that?*” He pointed at the table to make sure Kasan understood.

“Yes Kasan…tell him. What is that?*” Zonta echoed sarcastically.

Kasan gave Zonta look, and it wasn’t friendly.

“*Is….is nothing Max.*” Kasan answered hesitantly. “*Come….we go.*”

Zonta jerked his head to the side with a snort, which only added to Max’s feeling that he was being lied to. But why would Kasan lie?

“*Is not nothing.*” Max said. “*Now tell.*”

Kasan stood up.

“*Later….but is nothing now…*”
Well what the heck was that?

Before Max could say anything more Kasan abruptly picked him up by the waist.

“Damn it Kasan! What are you doing now?!” Max growled. He wasn’t’ a baby damn it! “*Down Kasan! Max want down!*” He demanded loudly. “*Put Max down!*”

Gabriel didn’t so much wake up as much as consciousness flooded back into him. Of course with awareness came pain, blinding, raw pain.

No stranger to being knocked the fuck out Gabriel tried to keep himself as still as he could while he struggled to regain his wits about him. He couldn’t’ tell where he was, or what he was covered in, but he didn’t need anyone knowing he was awake. Because when your capturers realized that you were awake, and didn’t want you to be so, they tended to beat you in the head with a hammer or inject you with something.

Each sucked in its own way.

He shifted slightly, trying to relieve some of the pressure on his aching ribs, they didn’t feel broken, but they were definitely badly bruised. But the moment he did so pain came rocketing up his body like a bullet train from his hip.

Oh….that was right…kitty-saurous Rex had soccer balled his ass off a building. Asshole….

Carefully cracking open one eye Gabriel was dismayed, totally full of may, at the sight of at least half a dozen kitty men standing around him. None of them appeared to be looking at him currently, but only a slight tilt of the head would change that.

Okay…so his ribs where bashed up, head continued its feeling of a continuous concussion, missing fingernails on the one hand, big road rash like gash on his face, shoulder blades felt bruised, arms and legs each a beacon of exhaustion and pain, and then finally a possibly broken hip.

Couple that with a large group of large assholes right on top of him….yeah….escape wasn’t looking good at the moment.

His head was pounding, but even through the blood and pain thundering inside Gabriel could hear someone kicking up a serious fuss….and he could understand it.

“Put me down Kasan! I’m not kidding!”

The words were fading in and out, more from his injuries then anything else. But even still…he knew that voice…

Slowly tilting his head Gabriel peered towards he sounds, he couldn’t see much better then he could hear but he could make out one of the cat men and a set of smaller flailing feet.

Gabriel watched carefully as the giants began to turn away from him. Slowly, cautiously, Gabriel began to slide out from under the sheet and off of the table, keeping his eyes on the ridiculously ripped backs of the kitty men.

Pain shot through his body as he distributed his weight, threatening to put him out again. He fought against it, yeah it hurt, and yeah what he was about to do was going to suck beyond belief but…

“I know that voice….” Gabriel growled.

Max was getting really pissed, Kasan had finally put him down, but he was still trying to drag him away….and he STILL wasn’t telling Max what was going on either.

Zonta kept making snaky little comments, encouraging Kasan to do just what Max was asking him to do, and Kasan kept firing back with various types of shut up statements.

Clearly Kasan was trying to hide something, though that didn’t’ explain why no one else was saying it or why Kasan would want to do so in the first place.

Max didn’t’ like it.

He planted his feet and tried to pull his arm out of Kasan’s grip, but all he succeeded in doing was jerking his shoulder. Kasan wasn’t squeezing hard or anything, but his huge hand easily encircled Max’s entire bicep.

“*Gisho please…*” Kasan started, but before he could finish Max heard one of his brothers call out something followed by a loud gasp/grunt of pain…and then Kasan’s whole body lurched forward as someone jumped on his back.

Two arms wrapped around Kasan’s neck and held on. Kasan released Max’s arm as he stumbled forward. Grabbing at the arms around his neck Kasan spun himself around, and Max had to duck just to keep from being kicked in the face by the swinging legs.

Kasan was trying to reach up and get a hold of his hanger on, but couldn’t seem to get a good grip. Max watched as the arms tightened, clearly trying to cut off Kasan’s windpipe. It was way too small to be one of his bothers and….and it was wearing faded jeans.

Kasan swung back around, and whatever it was hair whipped to the side, exposing a face. Max locked eyes with a person and….he couldn’t believe what he saw.

“Gabriel?!” Max exclaimed.

“Run!” Gabriel shouted. “I got em! Run Max!”
Swinging around again Kasan caught a hold of Gabriel’s right leg and began to rush backwards.
Wham!

Max winced as Kasan crushed Gabriel against the stone wall, and he could swear he heard bones cracking. He opened his mouth to say something, to tell Kasan to stop, but…nothing would come out. He just couldn’t believe what he was seeing.

“Is that all you got?” Gabriel slurred. “It’ll take. -gasp- a lot more…then that to get rid…of me.”

Kasan growled and took a few steps forward.

“*Kasan no!*” Max and Zonta both shouted as Kasan hurled himself backwards.

WHAM!

Gabriel spit blood along Kasan’s front as the giant cat smashed against the wall with all his weight.

“Okay….yeah….that oughta do it….” Gabriel chocked as his grip broke.

Reaching back Kasan got a big handful of hair and with one mighty pull of his arm, ripped Gabriel right off of his back and over his shoulder.

Gabriel hit the floor with a sickening thud and with a feral look on his face Kasan started to bring up his foot, to take a step, or to stomp on the fallen man.

Max didn’t know which it was, and it didn’t matter. He was moving then, and two steps in he realized that he was too far away now to get to them in time like this.

He didn’t know what Kasan was planning, or what the hell was going on at all. All he knew was that his little brother was one the floor.

Instinct kicked in…and Max dove.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Kasan’s mind had fogged over, slipping into an instinctively protective mode. Which tended to happen whenever someone attempted to strangle him.

He hadn’t been quite sure who had jumped on his back at first, nor had he known when he first drove them into the wall. But he knew now…and it didn’t improve his mood.

He had held a great deal of sympathy for the new human, perhaps it all had been once huge misunderstanding that had brought them to this point. But right at the moment he had thrown the human off of his back he had felt nothing but threatened, and still did, and even worse now that his consort could be in danger.

Max was after all, very close by, and here was this new human, who as beat up as he was had chosen to attack again. It was crazy, even if there weren’t as many of them around as there was.

The human had killed, and had just chosen to attack him for no reason, very well could have been attempting to kill him. Why else would he put so much pressure on Kasan’s throat?

Kasan had heard some yelling, and the human had garbled something out next to his ear, but Kasan had blocked it all out. It didn’t’ matter, all that did matter was keeping this….insane creature away from his consort.

He took a step towards the fallen human, not sure what he was going to do exactly, but suddenly his little Gisho was there, draping himself over the other human.

Fear surged through Kasan, Max was far too close to him, and while it made sense that he would go to a member of his own species….Max didn’t’ know what this human had done.

Before he could do anything about it someone slammed into him from behind, arms wrapping around his waist. Before he knew it he was off his feet and unable to do much as rapid footsteps rang in his ears…and the far wall raced towards him. He didn’t even have time to get his hands up as he was planted face first into the stone wall.

It wasn’t a pleasant feeling at all, nor did the shoulder in his kidneys fill him with happy thoughts.

Getting his legs up Kasan pushed off the wall, knocking them backwards. He heard Zonta grunt and wasn’t all that surprised to learn that it was him. He did admire his younger brother’s resolve towards his duty and what he perceived as right….but Kasan wasn’t about to take chances with Max’s life.

Zonta arched as he stumbled backwards, and instead of landing on top of Zonta as he had hoped, Kasan found himself being slammed down on the back of his neck and shoulders.

Twisting to try and free himself from Zonta’s grip Kasan was able to turn his gaze towards Max. His Gisho was right where he had been, but now the human Gabriel was starting to rise.

Aosh and Jolan were closing in slowly, obviously doing their best not to spook the little nut ball. For that Kasan was grateful…now if he could only get Zonta off of him.

“Damn it Zonta! Let go of me!” Kasan growled.

He didn’t want to use his claws on Zonta, but he wasn’t seeing many other choices, Zonta’s grip was just too strong.

As Kasan watched helplessly, Gabriel staggered to his feet, and pushed Max behind him. More falling then walking Gabriel pushed Max backwards into a corner. Kasan’s panic rose then, but instead of turning around to face his Gisho, Gabriel just balled up his hands, and slowly raised his fists.

“*I told you…to run.*” Gabriel slurred.

Kasan stilled, casing his attempts to break free of Zonta as he watched. The flower-faced human was more leaning on Max then standing. His one leg was practically limp, his other was bent at the knee and shaking badly. He was bent at the waist, seemingly unable to straight out. Yet….he was glaring up at Aosh and Jolan through his sweaty bangs, looking ready as he could be to fight.

Kasan didn’t speak Max’s language, his attempts to learn it had ended in rather embarrassing failure. But he did know a last stand defensive, bring it, posture when he saw it…and that was exactly what the human Gabriel was doing.

More importantly….he was defending Max.

He wasn’t pounding on Gisho in a desperate attempt to inflict injury before he could be stopped. He wasn’t bighting or clawing or strangling…

No…the first thing he had down when he regained hi wits and saw Aosh and Jolan approaching was push Max behind him.

The guilt hammer came down hard, right on top of Kasan’s head.

“Zonta….stop. Let me go.” Kasan said softly.

“Why so you can beat on him some more?!” Zonta snarled. “God knows the damage you just did.”

“Z…I’m….I’m not going to hurt him.” Kasan insisted.

“Yeah…and I-”

“Look at what he is doing Z…” Kasan whispered.

Zonta twisted, yanking Kasan to the side as he sat up. Kasan waited, staring at the floor from his upside down, bent in half position, patiently.

After a few moments Zonta finally released him and stood, only to shoot him a wicked glare and bare his teeth before he rushed over to the two humans.

Kasan stood just as Zonta shoved Aosh out of the way. Zonta’s aggressiveness was surprising, especially since he had always been so timid before all of this.

Kasan did not did not rush over, he took his time, not wanting to startle either of the humans…or Zonta. Gabriel was slowly dropping to the floor, Max had his arms hooked under Gabriel’s armpits but was allowing himself to drop as well.

From the looks of it Gabriel was slipping back under again, and the guilt hammer whacked Kasan again.

And again when Max leveled an angry glare upon him as he neared.

Jolan and Aosh had backed off, each on one side of Zonta as the younger Kyashin argued with two guards that had appeared.

Kasan couldn’t quite make out what was being said, they were talking to low for eve him. But it sounded tense and angry, no surprise considering Zonta’s mood.

Max had Gabriel’s upper body cradled in his lap, and was whispering in his ear. Gabriel wasn’t really answering, Kasan could see he was bleeding from the back of his head and he seemed to be treading the thing line between conscious and not.

Max pulled Gabriel in tighter as Kasan knelt in front of them.

“Kasan no hurt Gabriel.” Max growled. Kasan winced and held up his hands. Just to be on the safe side he stood again and backed up to give them some space, only to have the two guards that Zonta had been arguing with push past him.

They both stood in front of the two humans, one on either side. Max looked up fearfully at the two, and then locked eyes with Kasan. He didn’t like that look on Max’s face, didn’t like it at all.

“He ahs tog o back in the cell.” The guard on the right said.

“Like hell he does!” Zonta snapped. “I think he’s been through enough as it is.”

“Prince…please….understand this is not our choice.” The left guard said.

Kasan stepped forward, interjecting himself between Zonta and the two, which from the look on Zonta’s face was probably for their own protection.

“Now wait a minute here….under whose orders? I am sure Father didn’t order it, not if he knew the situation.” Kasan pressed.

“Elders orders sir.” Lefty said.

Kasan winced. Damn it…why did they have to get involved?

“Listen….” Kasan started. He had to try to do something, if only to remove the look from Max’s face. But the right guard went down, and began to reach for Gabriel.

“Kasan no hurt Gabriel!!” Max screamed with such force that everyone jumped.

The right guard did back up slightly, and gave Kasan a pained look. Max glared up at him, and the guilt hammer came down so hard his vision practically blurred.

His little Gisho had tears in his eyes, and they were definitely not of the good variety. He wished that Zonta would throw him a bone, but the redhead was too busy shooting murder out of his eyes.

That too was upsetting, he had never seen Zonta this angry before, not from one of Aosh’s pranks, or an experiment gone awry….nothing had caused this kind of reaction from gentle Zonta.

The right guard made a move towards the two humans once more, and Max kicked at his outstretched hand.

“Please…” Kasan said as he pulled the two guards away. It was obvious Max wasn’t going to allow them to get near, and he didn’t want to have to intervene if Max decided to get physical. Orders or no orders….no one was going to manhandle his consort.

Max watched them all carefully, and held the fallen human tighter…God knew what he was thinking right now.

“Max….Kasan sorry….not mean to hurt.” He said softly. “But need to take him.”

It sounded good to him, but Max hardly looked convinced. Max began to look around almost frantically, and Kasan could see the wheels turning in his little love’s mind.

“Zonta! Zonta!” Max exclaimed as he pointed at the redhead. Zonta stepped forward, moving to Kasan’s side. But before he could speak Max foraged ahead, but seemed to struggle for the words. “Zonta!” Max said again, but this time he pointed at Gabriel. “Is Max’s Zonta!” Max pointed at Zonta himself. “Kasan’s Zonta.” Then he pointed at Gabriel. “Max’s Zonta! Gabriel is Max’s Zonta!”
Wait…what? What did that mean? And how did Max know the other human’s name? They had spoken to each other briefly a short time ago, though Kasan had a hard time believe that they had dispensed pleasantries.

Zonta made a noise beside him, and Kasan turned his head to look at his younger sibling.

“Well now….that is interesting.” Zonta mused.

“What is? What is he talking about?” Kasan asked.

“I’m your Zonta…and he is his.” Zonta answered. “Interesting way to put it.”

“Put what? Damn it Z…just spit it out.!” Kasan growled, getting annoyed with all the games. He always hated that, if someone knew something then they needed to simply say it, not play the lead around game.

“What am I to you Kasan?” Zonta asked.

Kasan ground his teeth together, that was NOT an answer.

“You’re my little brother. But that doesn’t answer-”

“Sure it does.” Zonta interrupted as he looked at Max. He put his hand on his chest and spoke. “Zonta is Kasan’s little brother. Little brother Max.”

Kasan watched as his Gisho mouthed the words, running them through his mind.

“Ittle bayder….l-little broother…” Max muttered, then glared up at Kasan. “Gabriel is Max’s little brother!”

Kasan’s stomach dropped….no way….how…but…..Zonta patted him on the shoulder.

“Congratulations…..you just smashed around your brother in law.” Zonta said.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Kasan was still struggling with the concept. IT just didn’t seem possible, perhaps Max was confused or trying to say something else. But then….

“Where Max family Kasan?”

The words rang in Kasan’s head. That was right….Max had asked him that once before. He had answered honestly of course, there had not been any family of Max’s there. Hell…there weren’t supposed to be ANY human’s left…..yet here two of them were. It was long odds but….to be honest…if you could find one member of a thought long dead race…why accept that another one could be related to the one you found?

In came the guilt hammer. Whack! Whack! Whack!

Something had to be going on, because after a little talk with Zonta Max released Gabriel and allowed Zonta to pick him up. A talk that Kasan hadn’t been privy too, as they had used Max’s Human instead of Hinta.

That wasn’t fair…and it made him wonder. Obviously Max was upset with him, he would have been upset if the situation was reversed. But still…there was no need to cut him out, he could help after all. If there was anyone Max could go to for help, it was him…Max was HIS consort after all.

As it was Kasan was trailing behind Max and Zonta as the two followed the guards. Zonta had obviously relented in allowing Gabriel to return to the cell. But Kasan knew Zonta wouldn’t allow him to remain there for every long, and he agreed. He had serious doubts about the story he had been told by the others now, granted maybe something was wrong with the new human….but in a pinch he had put himself in a protective position in front of Max, had tried to defend him from a perceived threat…and that told Kasan volumes about his personality.

And if this Gabriel really was Max’s brother…well then it was a whole new ballgame really. Because now it wasn’t just a person defending themselves from a possibly corrupt guard…it was a person related to the royal family by marriage doing so.

Zonta was carrying the human bridal style, being very careful to support him properly, and Max was watching Gabriel intently.

Kasan narrowed his eyes as they entered the tower. Here? They had been keeping him here? Now that wasn’t right…only major security threats when to the tower.

And that meant that this Gabriel had escaped from the tower…hoo boy….no one had ever done that before. The security warden was going to pop a blood vessel when he heard about that. It might even be funny to watch.

Stopping in front of the small cell one of the guards pulled back the bars, and Zonta stepped inside. The next second Max grabbed a hold of Kasan’s clothing, giving it a firm tug and capturing his attention.

“In there?! Why in there?! Gabriel hurt, needs help. No help in there Kasan!” Max’s zone was angry and accusing, which was like a dagger in Kasan’s heart. He fumbled for words, his mouth flapping like a fish.

What could he say? He couldn’t very well just brush it aside.

“Not….not Kasan’s decision.” He put forth feebly. He wanted to fight it of course, but until he got in front of his Father and the elders he couldn’t. Zonta knew that too, which was obviously why he was going along for the moment. Defying it now would only make them dig in their heels even harder….some of them more then others. They meant well of course, even the ones with the nastier tempers cared about them. But if they went and fought with it now, then they would be called foolish children who didn’t know any better, Kasan knew that from personal experience.

Max’s face fell, crushed in a way Kasan hadn’t seen before, in a way he did NOT want to see at all. The guilt hammer came down so hard it nearly leveled him, and he wanted to take his feeble excuse back almost immediately.

“N-No worry…Kasan get him out soon Max…” Kasan stated.

He reached for his consort, as much to comfort him as to be comforted, but his little Gisho took a step away from him.

“Prince…please exit the cell.” One of the guards requested.

Kasan forced his attention away from Max for a second, needing something to distract him from the pain he felt in his heart, needing something to keep him from seeing the look on Max’s face.

Peering into the cell Kasan saw that Zonta had stretched himself out on the small bunk, and was cradling the human gently.

“Prince…”

“You can go split your gentiles.” Zonta muttered.

“We will have to lock the door prince.” Righty, who obviously had a bit of an attitude about him, said.

“Oh gee…will you? Gosh…I could have never figured that out.” Zonta remarked sarcastically.

The guard grunted and began to pull the cell shut. With only a foot or two left to go Max suddenly surged forward and slipped though the little gap and into the cell just before the door slammed shut.

Kasan heard the lock click shut and instinctively grabbed a hold of the bars and pulled hard, trying to open the door.

It didn’t even budge of course, and Kasan turn towards the two guards.

“Do you have the key to this?” Kasan asked. Lefty shook his head.

“N-No sir.”

Okay…now that pissed Kasan off.

“You just locked a door that you can’t open?” Kasan growled.

“We were only supposed to escort him back. Not guard him.”

Kasan rubbed at his temples, and flicked his claws out at the two.

“Well then….I suggest that someone find me the one who DOES have the key. Because I will not have my consort left in there.” Kasan snarled.
He didn’t even bother to wait for a reply, but the fleeing footsteps told him all he needed to know. Turning his attention back towards the cell Kasan watched as Max was gently feeling around Gabriel’s brow and face, and he definitely did not seem pleased.

“Um…Max?” Kasan called out. “You shouldn’t be in there Gisho….”

“Max stay with Gabriel….Kasan bad.” Max growled. “Gabriel hurt, Kasan hurt more, Kasan ignore hurt. Stupid Kasan….Max stay.”

Kasan winced, God that hurt. He hadn’t done this to the human, Tisu had done most of the damage….and he had only been trying to protect himself and Max, though yes, he did concede that he had done damage to the little creature.

But Max couldn’t stay in there, it wasn’t right at all and….

‘Kasan no have sex with Max either. Stupid, bad Kasan.” Max stated, giving Kasan an unfriendly look. “Kasan want Max out? Kasan let Gabriel out.”

Kasan did not like the insinuation that he only cared about Max for sex, it wasn’t true at all. Nor was it his fault that he needed to couple with Max at times, he certainly hadn’t invented the weapon that would kill his people, nor the nanite solution to defeat it.

Looking at his younger sibling Kasan tried a request, Zonta had always been reasonable after all.

“Come on Z….help me out here.”

Zonta gave him an unfriendly look that mirrored Max’s

‘And if it is not too much trouble…could you send a doctor? And the supplies to clean him up.” Zonta retorted flatly.

Kasan resented that as well.

“I’m not the bad guy here Zonta geez….” Kasan snapped hotly. “So don’t act like I am. Especially after what you told me he did with that wire….how was I supposed to know? I mean….what are the odds for Gods sake?”

“We’ll see….” Zonta whispered.

Upset at the lack of faith, and being bludgeoned half to death by guilt, Kasan crushed his teeth together tightly to hold his temper in. Blowing out a tight breath Kasan focused back on Max.

“Kasan be back soon.” He said. “Trust Kasan…Kasan always help Max.”

Max’s eyes softened a little.

“Good.” Max said.”

Max listened as Kasan’s footsteps slowly echoed away. So much had happened so fast that he was still feeling a bit overwhelmed. He had barely had any time to process it at all. He still couldn’t believe what Kasan had done to Gabriel….he could have killed him! Crippled him!

Gabriel..

Max turned towards his sibling.

God….he hadn’t seen Gabriel in years….and now he was here…as impossible as it was…he was here. But as far as surprises/miracles went…Max was definitely grateful for this one.

The last he had known Gabriel was doing some highly sensitive research on various viruses. AIDS and Ebola in particular if Max remembered right. God that had scared him so bad….his little brother working around things like that. He had hated it, hated every second that he knew Gabriel was around them. Yet….he was still always so very proud of what Gabriel had been trying so hard to do.

But then…there had been some kind of incident or something and Gabriel had supposedly suffered some kind of breakdown. There had been other details given of course, but Max had had a very hard time swallowing them.

The idea that Gabriel would just snap was rather laughable, especially to someone who truly knew the man. Gabriel was not the type to crack under the pressure, by definition people like Gabriel had to have nerves of steel just to handle the materials they did. Besides…there really wasn’t all that much pressure, beyond person, in Gabriel’s field. After all…you certainly couldn’t rush that kind of work.

Too many things just didn’t add up about the whole situation, even now. Like why the family wasn’t told of Gabriel’s whereabouts, despite frequent requests as a matter of fact. The answer that “He can’t handle visitors.” just didn’t fly, and left a bad taste in Max’s mouth.

If someone suffered a nervous breakdown, who was better to help nurse them through then their own loving family?
But to the new situation….how the hell did Gabriel even get here? He hadn’t been on the colony personal, Max was sure of that. He had only had to go over it about a million times.

But at least that question had an easy possible solution. All he had to do was wait for Gabriel to wake up and ask.

That thought make him really focus on Gabriel. He was so….beat up. He had a nasty gash on the side of his face, brushes on his arms and shoulders, fingernails were missing on his one hand, and Max could see bones poking up from his hip.
The sight made Max sick to his stomach, Gabriel was filthy, covered in dirt and blood was smeared over his hand, his forearm, and his face.

His jeans were worn and frayed, not to mention wet with something. Why he looked like he was wearing some kind of torn up straight jacket Max didn’t even want to know.

And he stunk….

He smelled like sweat and grime and….other things Max didn’t want to know about.

All he wanted to know is why his younger brother, whom he had not seen in years due to some strange circumstances back home, had suddenly appeared on a strange alien planet that neither he nor Max should have been on in the first place.

He wanted to know that, and he wanted to know why Gabriel looked like he had been…tortured.

And he really wanted to hear that that wasn’t true.

Just the thought brought back a host of old fears that he was just starting to banish, he was only just able to stop himself from allowing them a foothold in his mind.

Max looked up at Zonta, who was softly whispering something as he ran his fingers over Gabriel’s brow. That made Max feel a little better, Zonta did seem to care….and he was really big.

And possibly a kitty-fu master.

Though he had BETTER NOT end up being married to Gabriel somehow….

“If you humped my brother in his sleep…I’ll….I’ll….well I’ll punch you right in the ass and nuts Zonta…” Max grumbled.

Zonta turned his head to the side and gave Max a sympathetic look. Putting a possible Gabriel penetration out of his mind, Max closed his eyes for a moment and took a deep breath.

“*Tell what happened.*”
