Original Stories Fan Fiction ❯ Through Harushi's Eyes ❯ The Cherry Blossoms ( Chapter 6 )
[ P - Pre-Teen ]
Yuji was waiting at the old tree near the front gate. “Where is she?” he questioned himself. It was a sunny day, and the baby pink cherry blossoms made a leaf like pattern in the shade. “I’ll give her five more minutes.”
There was a very slight breeze, and it carried a sweet smell that warmed everyone who was in it. Yuji saw Muri up towards him.
“Whatcha doin?” she asked him.
“Oh, just waiting for someone.” He replied honestly.
“Who? For Harushi? Why do you even like her? She’s weird. A freak.” She said with hostility. She dropped her shoulder bag on the ground and sat next to Yuji. “Really, I don’t see what you see in her.” She said as she slid closer to Yuji. She was sitting right next to him. As Harushi walked back from class, she saw Yuji and Muri sitting together under the tree. Sadness fell over her. She felt empty. She had fallen from grace.
“YUJI!” she screamed with love, and anger. Tears welled up in her eyes. She turned away and started running, forcing her tears to fly behind her. Yuji stood up and looked at Muri angrily. He ran after Harushi.
“Where is she going?” he asked himself. Muri, however, didn’t care at all about the situation, shrugged and walked away. Harushi knew where she was going. She needed to force the truth out of Yuji. The wind blew violently. She ran past the people in the streets, pushing them as she ran. Yuji was trailing behind her. She was heading towards the cliff, which was out of bounds. The fence didn’t mean anything to her, as she jumped over it. A feeling of dread came over Yuji as he ran. “No, she couldn’t. That’s not it!” he said as he played the future in his mind. She was going to jump off the cliff. “Harushi! Stop it! Stop! It’s not that big of a deal!! Don’t!” he yelled after her. Harushi stopped at the edge of the cliff, and faced Yuji.
“Yuji, do you really love Muri? Do you?” Harushi asked. She wasn’t yelling, she was crying her words out.
“No! I don’t like her at all!” Yuji yelled forcefully. He walked up to her, as if to hold her hand and walk her back. “Please, Harushi, don’t do this to me. Please! I know you’re upset, but you don’t have to go this far!!” Yuji said with a calmer voice.
“I’m not that emotional as to jump off a cliff recklessly, but I need to do this to get the truth out of you, Yuji! I told you my secret because I loved you and I knew you would understand! You’re not like those shallow guys, you’re different!” Her words flooded out of her heart. Cherry blossoms blew around Harushi and Yuji. Yuji smiled, and Harushi smiled back, even though she was still crying. Above the silence, they both heard a small crack. Yuji’s eyes were filled with dread. He ran towards Harushi as she slipped off the face of the cliff.
“NO!” he said as he reached for her hand. Harushi was screaming loudly, but it seemed that no-one else could hear her scream. Yuji felt the tip of Harushi’s hand, but it was too late. She had fallen, and Yuji was yelling, then he knelt down and cursed himself. He was feeling so many feelings. Sadness, sorrow, grief, regret, melancholy, anger, and the result of these feelings made the world stop for Yuji. It seemed that way.
