Original Stories Fan Fiction ❯ Through Harushi's Eyes ❯ Remember and Kill ( Chapter 10 )

[ P - Pre-Teen ]
That night, Yuji looked at his clock constantly. It was close to twelve, so he got up and opened the window. His parents weren’t home, so it was safe. The wind was chilly and strong as he climbed over the window. He walked up to the road, and was startled by the speed of a red car that zoomed past him. He calmed himself down. “Ok. To the bridge.” He said out loud. Yuji started running towards the bridge. He was running against the wind, so it was harder. Suddenly, Yuji had a gut feeling, and he stopped in his path. “Something isn’t right here.” He said as he looked backwards. Even so, he kept walking. After less than a minute, he stopped again. “I thought I heard footsteps. I must be imagining things. No-one could be out this late.”
Again, he kept walking. He wasn’t far away from the bridge when a man came up from behind him and grabbed him while holding a gun to his head. “What the... who are you? What do you want?!” he yelled, but he was cut off by the man’s hand covering his mouth. “This guy was tracking me the whole time!” Yuji thought. “Oh no! They might have got Harushi and Muri! I’ve got to get out of this!”
He blamed himself if they got hurt. He wanted to ask if they were ok before he could do anything, but he couldn’t. The man seemed to know what he wanted to say though.
“Don’t worry, the two girls are ok. I only ask for you to do one thing.” He said in his deep voice. “Don’t pick the psychic girl.”
“Why should I?!” Yuji said as he had already escaped from the mans grip. “You can’t just tell me what to do?!” Yuji objected.
The man stopped, and put a strange gadget to Yuji’s forehead. Yuji tried to escape, but something was pulling him towards the gadget. Memories of another life started seeping into his mind, and more and more. Soon it was flooding with other memories of another person and another time. The man took the gadget away.
“Hi again, Yuji 78QWR.” The man said to Yuji. “I remember now. So now I have to kill her, right? I was brainwashed and sent to her school because I was meant to kill her. And if I wasn’t I would be suspected, right?” Yuji asked.
“Yes. That is exactly right. Just what I’d expect from an esper.” The man said.
“But...there was one problem. I fell...” he started. “In love...with her.” Yuji told him.
“That can’t be good. Do you still love her now?” he asked. They were talking about love as if it was just a regular problem.
“I’m not sure, but I’ll kill her anyway.” Yuji said. The other man nodded. Yuji changed his path; he was walking to the park. That way, he could lure Harushi. To kill her.
