Simone and Bill had absolutely flabbergasted Rin. Never before had she met people so… nice, she almost wondered what they expected in return.

She had stayed with them 'til after midnight last night, enjoying her first, second, third and fourth encounter with hot chocolate. When her clothes were washed and dried, Simone had driven her home, or rather to where Rin had told her she lived, she was too prideful to let the wonderful woman see where she lived; instead she had directed her to Hailey's house.

She had slept there a few times when her father had been in his moods, he had never hit her, but he had times when he was so high on his poison of the day that he had no discretion and it just wasn't healthy or possible to sleep in her own room.

She spent the night on the floor in Hailey's room, they had been best friends since grade school, and had somehow stuck together through all their differences, in life, family and beliefs.

It was now almost six in the evening and Rin found herself looking forward to the class at the end of the day

Bill felt ridiculous looking at the clock all day long, but the seemingly year long day had finally drawn to the hour he wished, or pretty damn close.

He arrived at the pool half an hour early and tried to take his time changing, but when he stepped out on deck he grudgingly noted that he had only taken two minutes; and so he sat in one of the chairs in the viewing area watching the people swim, and looking for Rin.

It took him only a few moments to realize she was the lifeguard this time, she wore a ridiculously large white shirt once again with the word for lifeguard blazoned across the front and back; the shirt was so large it looked more like a dress.

When she spotted him he noticed her blush and head over his way, doing a sort of twirling walk, she would walk backwards two steps, turn to her side to see him, take a few steps in his direction, then turn back to the pool and walk backwards a few step and continued the cycle until she reached him; he laughed at her.

"What was that?" He teased, flipping his hand to indicate the way she had walked and she stared at him blankly for a few seconds before realization spread across her expressive face.

"Oh!" She blushed, laughing, "It's so I can see the pool while walking away from it, does it really look that silly?" Her eyes seemed worried.

"Only slightly," he soothed.

"You're here early." She remarked as she leaned back against the wall beside him.

"I thought I'd take longer to get here," he replied as he leaned back against the same wall he noted how the top of her head barely reached his shoulder.

"Oh," she smiled but continued to scan the pool.

"So what did you have to do to become a lifeguard?" He asked to fill the, what he thought of as, uncomfortable silence.

She smiled, "you'd be surprised by the amount of training we have to have," she paused to look him briefly in the eyes and blush, "first you have to have your German lifeguard assassination certificate, which includes certifications in first aid, teaching swimming, and rescues; it's a rather big course, can take up to a few months." She paused and shifted her feet, "Most people look down on lifeguards and swim instructors, they think of it as a college job, or a lazy man's job, but its actually hard work!" Her voice became a little exasperated at the end.

"That's why there are so few of us, but the pay isn't so bad," she laughed and turned to him slightly, once again taking a few seconds to look him in the eye, "so, what do you do for a living?"

He was utterly stunned; she had no idea who he was? He blinked a few times and his jaw flapped, for once at a loss for words.

"I-I'm a singer. You mean you honestly don't recognize me?" He looked more than slightly surprised and she gulped.

"I'm sorry," she stammered, "I guess that I'm supposed to know who you are, right?" She looked mortified and he hurried to soothe her.

"No! its fine, I like it, not being immediately hounded for an autograph and other-such things." Her eyes rounded and he sighed.

"How often do you watch TV?"

"I don't," she shrugged and blushed. He decided he liked that she didn't really know who he was to the rest of the world, that she would only know him as Bill, not Bill Kaulitz the rock-star, just Bill, and so he dismissed the rest of the conversation by changing the subject. "Do you have any pets?"

Her blush softened at the question and he could see some sort of strange longing enter her eyes.

"I used to have an anole, it's a little lizard. He was easy to care for, fed him bugs and stuff, he died about two years ago, he was pretty old. But I've always wanted a dog, one of the little ones you know-" she placed her hands about a foot apart in front of her, "Like the ones you see those rich girls carrying in their purses, I'd love one of those."

Bill laughed.

"I have one, he's this little black thing, still a puppy." He wrinkled his nose, "Though he's in Hamburg right now with my brother."

"You have a brother too?" She asked quietly, but moved away form him when a boy came up to her dressed in a uniform similar to hers. "Thanks Anders, I've got a class in ten minutes."

Bill looked at the big digital clock hanging on the wall, and sure enough it was ten to the hour.

"I guess I'll see you in the pool in ten then," Rin smiled and softly touched his forearm before walking away, having passed her guarding duty on to the boy she had called Anders.
