Kanto Journies: Chapter 2: The first badge: Richie and Taylor were walking down

Vidiran Forest, and they were about mid way through, when they got jumped by a scouting patrol of 4 Beedril, so it was Pidgey, Charmander, Squirtle and Staryu vs. 4 Beedril. All the Beedril ganged up on Pidgey and K.O'ed by it but they were easy targets for an ember by Charmander. This knocked out all of the beedril except for one, which got angry and used a fury attack on Charmander. Since it had used 2 moves in 1 round so it was exhausted, and the fact that 2 tackle attacks were by Squirtle and Staryu did not help it any either, in fact it was a knockout!
They went back to heal Pidgey. After Pidgey was healed, they went back into the forest, where Richie and his Pidgey beat 12 Weedles (level 2) to grow from level 4 to level 7 then Richie's Charmander and Taylor's Staryu trained against 6 (level 2) Weedles each to grow from level 6 to level 7.
Then they went back to heal their pokemon again, once Nurse Joy was done with their pokemon they continued on this time going deeper into the forest. They were almost to Pewter when 2 Bug Keepers challenged them to a twin battle (note all pokemon in this battle are level 7): Silcoon and Cascoon vs. Charmander and Squirtle. Charmander fried Silcoon with an ember taking it out of the match, and Squirtle nearly got Cascoon in one hit with a tackle, while Cascoon used a poison sting on Charmander, which did not affect it much. Charmander finished it with an Ember and both Charmander and Squirtle grew to level 8. They got 500 poke yen each.
Right before exiting the forest, Richie and Taylor both trained their other pokemon (Pidgey for Richie and Staryu for Taylor), against 18 Caterpies/Weedles (level 2), so they both went from level 7 to level 8. Once they finished that, the two moved on to Pewter.

Richie and Taylor arrived at Pewter and went straight to the pokemon center to heal, then Richie went to the pokemart to buy some potions (they both got 10,000 from their own granddad), when he saw they were 300 poke yen, he decided to go ahead and buy 10 of them so he would have enough for Flint. So now, Richie has 6,500 poke money left.

Once Richie was done shopping they went to challenge the gym leader, Richie went first and asked for a 1 on 1 battle, Flint accepted and threw out a Onix, after hearing Flint's choice, Richie decided to call on Pidgey. Even with its level disadvantage Richie's Pidgey still had speed advantage and used sand attack, which blinded Onix and that, caused Onix to miss on a rock throw. Then another sand attack made Onix even more blind and it started to bide, and for the next 2 turns Pidgey continued with sand attack so by the time Onix stopped biding its accuracy was nearly as low as it could go, Flint desperately tried to rock throw. Missed, and Pidgey used a gust which Onix did not notice with its ears catching the rock snake off guard and giving the match to Richie. Pidgey's level shot up to 9 and it was half way to growing another level. Also Richie got 1000 poke yen brining up his total to 7,500, Richie also received the Bolder Badge and the T.M for Bide.

Then it was a 2 on 2 match for Taylor after Flint healed, with all the pokemon on at the same time. It was Squirtle and Staryu vs. Onix and Geodude. A bubble by Squirtle and a Water Gun by Staryu started the match, both aimed at Geodude, which could not take its ultimate weakness and went down. Flint used a Bide, but 2 water guns and 2 bubbles were too much for Onix, giving the victory to Taylor. Therefore, he got 1000 Poke Yen, brining up his total to 10,050, the Bolder Badge, and the T.M. for Bide.

Just before leaving Pewter, the group went to the pokemon center to heal and Taylor decided to follow Richie's example by buying 10 potions, so his total Poke Yen is 7,050.
