Pokemon Fan Fiction ❯ Red cloth of fate ❯ Chapter 2

The group walks over to a waiting Jeep, and he shoves Kara inside and buckles her seat belt. The other Magma members get in with Kara and Bannai in the back seat. During the drive, Kara hangs her head, refusing to make eye contact. Bannai grins. “Cheer up. You'll see your family soon.” He then calls to the driver. “Lee, take us to the base.”
*But I don't want to see my folks. If I go home I'll never be free again.* She thinks as she sees Lee nod. “Now behave." Bannai orders “If you don't it will go bad for your brother." Kara nods and looks away, trying not to show her fear.
“Alright. We are here.” Lee says “You'd better introduce her to Maxie.” Bannai grins evilly “Good idea. Jake, you run ahead and tell him I've found something of interest”
“Alright. We are here.” Lee says “You'd better introduce her to Maxie.” Bannai grins evilly “Good idea. Jake, you run ahead and tell him I've found something of interest”
“Right away” Jake replies and hurries off. Soon Lee's radio beeps. “Maxie is interested. Bring her in.” Kara is forced to walk between Bannai and Lee past her house to the house next door.
*The “For sale” sign is still up. That means they didn't have to kick anybody out.*
She thinks distractedly as she is marched up the front walk. Lee knocks on the door, and when it opened Kara was shoved inside. Growling under her breath, she made a mental note to make them suffer as soon as she got the chance.
The capture squad stops in the hall for a moment and Kara took the time to look around. The walls were painted black, gray and red, with pictures of legendary fire pokemon adorning them. The black stone tiled floor contrasted with the red chairs and tables in the rooms that she could see into.
A sharp tug on her arm reminded Kara why she was there.
“Come on. Let's go.” Lee orders, pulling her down the hallway and past some doors. They stop in front of a steel gray door with the red Team Magma emblem painted on it.
Bannai knocks on the door and an authoritative voice answers from inside, “Enter.” Lee opens the door and follows you and Bannai inside. The middle aged, red haired man sitting behind a large cherry oak desk immediately captures her attention. He sternly gazed at Kara and then looked at Bannai.
“Well. This is the girl?” after getting a nod in response he looked at Kara again. “You, my dear, are going to help us obtain that Gordon fossil.”
“How?” Kara ask quietly. “When your parents find out that we have you hostage, they will have to give up the fossil to secure your safety.” Maxie explains. Puzzled Kara asks, “What is so special about this fossil?”
“Well,” He explains, “You know Groudon is a legendary pokemon. We of Team Magma are hoping to revive Groudon from that fossil so that we can use its powers for the good of pokemon and humans alike. With Groudon we can…” Maxie goes on about this for a while before suddenly looking at the clock on his desk
“Hmm. 5:48. It's too late to put this plan into action today. Bannai. Assign two of our female members to be her guards. Have her wash up and have her stay in the spare room next to yours.” Bannai nods and starts to lead Kara out the door when her stomach growls. Maxie sighs. “Bannai, make sure she gets something to eat.” He then looks at some papers, apparently no longer interested in Kara's welfare.
Kara was shocked. All the stories she had heard about Team Magma depicted them as cold and ruthless, with no concern for their prisoners.
From the moment she had been taken captive, she had been expecting the worst. Kara hadn't expected them to care about how she was treated. This threw her completely of guard.
*I might have to think this over. If they learn that my folks don't like me, will they still care? Will they go through with their plans regardless?*
Still in a numbed state of mind, she allowed herself to be led out the door. Bannai led Kara down the hallway to a large room.
There were many members of Team Magma there, most of them occupying themselves with some form of recreational activity. Most of them stopped what they were doing when Bannai entered. Murmurs filled the room as Lee pushed Kara forward. "We finally have the key to getting that fossil." Bannai announced. "But since she arrived so late, we need two ladies to volunteer to be her guards."
