Isn't college fun?

I don't own Ranma.

Akane clenched her fists and inhaled deeply. She would have to face Ranma again. Especially if he was in their room. She exhaled and opened the door slowly. Ranma was indeed there. He was lying peacefully in her bed. She walked over, intending to wake him up, but couldn't help stopping in her tracks. He looked so cute. He was stretched out, but his face was so peaceful and contented she didn't have the heart to wake him. Instead she threw her covers over him and went to her computer to email Kasumi, as she did daily. Ranma was snoring softly, and the sound was distracting her. It felt strange to have Ranma in her room, sleeping in her bed.

Ranma felt something warm cover him and he smiled in his sleep. Who could it have been? He was lulled back to sleep by the warmth of the blankets and slept soudly. It was the knock at the door that woke him. Akane rose to get it and heard his muffled exclamation. She opened it and admitted entrance to Shimo. "Oh my god, Akane! Did you hear?! There was this totally hot guy on the roofs! Some girl says she saw him doing punches and stuff and then he lay down; get this, ON THE ROOF! Then all these people gathered to see what she was warblin' about and he smiles, waves then jumps down! And the scariest part? No one found his body on the other side...Isn't that totally amazin'?!"

Ranma coughed slightly and Shimo peered around Akane to see him. "Who is--?" She looked at Akane in amazement. "You finally got a boyfriend? It's about time!" Akane grit her teeth. "Shimo..." she said softly. "This is my roommate, Ranma Saotome. ROOMMATE, Shimo. Say it with me, roommate." Ranma grinned friendlily and Shimo dragged Akane aside. "Oh wow, is he single?!" she whispered. Ranma scratched the back of his head nervously, Shimo's intense stare was making him uncomfortable. Akane pried her arm away from Shimo and said, "Yes, but he's actually a homosexual." Shimo sighed in frustration, "The hot ones always are, aren't they?" Ranma heard this part and frowned, "Wait, that's not true, I used to be Akane's--" Akane's hand conveniently flew back as she yawned, straight into his face. She turned in fake surprise, "Oh my! So sorry, Ranma! Here let me help you." She grabbed him and threw him into the bathroom. To Shimo she reassured her by saying, "Don't worry, he'll be fine. I better go help him. Mind if I stop by later for our regular study session?" Shimo was staring at the bathroom door. "Huh? Oh, yeah, sure." She waved goodbye and left, calling out, "Byeee, Ranma-kun!" As soon as she left Ranma walked out, with a slight bruise on his nose.

"What was that about?" he asked painfully. "It hurt Akane!" Akane glared. "Look, I don't want my friends knowing we were engaged, okay? I don't care if you want to go out with them, just keep me out of it, alright?" She looked down, "But..umm...sorry about your nose..." Ranma sighed mockingly, "I guess I forgive you." There was a knock at the door. As Akane opened it, she winced. There was an entire fleet of guys outside, with bouquets. Ranma stifled a chuckle and walked up beside her as the guys all asked, "Will you go out with us Akane?" Akane smiled in an unsettled way and said carefully, "I'm sorry guys, but I'm not interested. I'd really appreciate it if you just gave me some room, okay?" The guys looked at Ranma and glared daggers. "And who's your friend?" one of them asked suspiciously. Akane looked at Ranma in surprise, "Oh, this is my roommate, Ranma Saotome." Ranma grinned and said, "Pleased to meet you all." He walked back into the room. There was a chorus of different things, but pleasure was not one of them.

Akane slammed the door and leaned against it wearily. "Just like old times, eh?" Ranma joked. Akane slumped lower, "They just won't leave me alone. And if I act violently I could get kicked out of school; which I can't have." She sighed and rested her chin in her hands. Ranma felt his heart speed up and frowned in puzzlement. "Why don't you just go out with someone?" Akane laughed dryly. "Maybe I should? I don't know...I'll think about it." She got up and went to the small kitchen. "Hungry?" she asked. Ranma winced, "Umm..." Akane poked her head around the corner with a glare, "I know how to cook, thank you very much." Laughing, Ranma put a hand behind his head. "I guess so. Er, thanks." Akane smiled brightly and ducked back in.

Dinner was uneventful and a tight silence stretched between them. Finally Ranma yawned and cleared up their dishes. "Tomorrow, will you show me to my classes, Akane?" Akane nodded, "Sure, just wake me up earlier if you can. I don't want to be late." They both got into their seperate beds--not before Akane 'accidently' splashed Ranama with cold water--and said goodnight to each other, politely. The room felt stifled. Ranam tossed and turned all night and Akane made little distressful noises in her sleep. It was long and torturous.

As planned Ranma rose early and quickly bathed. Getting out of the shower, he thought Akane would still be asleep. "Ranma! Don't walk around in just a towel! Get dressed!" Ranma grinned, "Admit it, you like what you see, huh, pervert?" Akane threw a lamp at him. She brushed by him and showered languidly. Dressing inside the bathroom and walking out with a damp towel, she complained, "Ugh, I feel dead." Ranma looked over from the kitchen and remarked, "Yeah, and you look like it too." Akane's shoe connected with his face. Rubbing his sore cheek he said, "It was a joke," and passed her a warm plate. Akane blushed and thanked him. She looked up and said, "Perfect, we've still got time. C'mon, let's get going. Where's your schedule?"
