Chapter 4: THE OTHERS
Meanwhile, in the kitchen of the mansion, Akane and Ryoga were just entering. I don't think that guy ever knew where he was going.
"Ryoga, do you know where were going?" Akane asked him.
"Ah, no...not really," he admitted. "But that's never stopped me before!"
"We shouldn't have separated from the others...what if they get lost, like us?"
"Hey, we're not lost...we just don't know exactly where we are right now."
"But we should stay close to them...what if they find a way out?"
They walked past the kitchen counter. Many utensils were strewn about, and it was all piled up into a huge mess. Around the long end of the counter, Ryoga came to a stop.
"What is it?" Akane asked.
"It's one of those things," Ryoga said.
She looked and saw a dead body lying on the floor. "Just step around it, like so..." She put one foot over it and brought the other foot over...but not before the zombie grabbed ahold of her ankle and took a large bite out of her calf. Akane cried out in pain and fell over.
"Akane!"
Ryoga reacted instantly by dropping all his weight into his right knee and bringing it down square on the zombie's head, crushing it into shit. The zombie instantly ceased moving.
"Are you alright?" Ryoga asked, kneeling next to her.
"Y-yeah...just a little shook up..."
Ryoga leaned down and took off one of his bandannas, tying it tightly around the wound on Akane's right leg. He helped her up and they opened an elevator cage just beyond the now-dead zombie and stepped inside.

Ukyo had just stepped into a room with a strange looking statue of a globe standing in the center. There was a path off to the left, and she followed it. Looking to the right, she saw a door at the end of the hallway.
"Man, this sucks. I say we just bust our way out, right, Mousse?"
She heard a grunt and shuffling feet behind her, taking it as a sign that Mousse wanted her to keep moving. She began walking towards the door at the end of the hall.
"What do you think of all this, Mousse? I mean...zombies? What's all that about? They're not supposed to be real, right?"
"Uhhhh..."
"Right! I think maybe Ranma was having a hallucination from one of Shampoo's potions or something. I mean, the dead don't just get up and walk around eating people, right?"
"Uhhhh..."
"Right."
Standing at the door, she pushed it open and looked inside. It appeared to be some kind of dressing room...but that's not what held her attention. Two zombies in the middle of the room were hunched over, facing her, eating the flesh off a dead body in front of them. Sick.
"HOLY SHIT, ZOMBIES! Mousse, we gotta--"
She spun around and came face to face with a zombie. It stood in front of her, glaring at her with its one good eye. Ukyo looked confused.
"Uhhhh..." it groaned.
"You're not Mousse...you're an imposter!"
The thing swung at her and nearly knocked her over. Ukyo was stunned for a second, but she suddenly looked mad.
"Oh, I don't think so, bitch."
She unsheathed the giant battle spatula from her back and spun around, gaining momentum, and swung it. The spatula ripped the zombie in half, and Ukyo had to stop herself by embedding the blade into the wall. She extracted it and looked at the struggling zombie torso, still trying to crawl towards her. She lifted her battle spatula above her head and brought it down hard, severing the zombie's head.
She smiled at her triumph. But suddenly, she felt the cold hand of a zombie on her shoulder. Her smile quickly faded and she brought her elbow back, INTO the zombie's stomach, spilling its intestines. It released her, and she spun around and moved back, getting into a fighting stance. The stunned zombie regained its footing and decided to go back after Ukyo.
"Alright," Ukyo said, panting, "now you die."
As the zombie came towards her, she swiftly executed a high-kick to the face, and the zombie's head flew off, hitting the ceiling and bouncing onto the floor in the next room. The other zombie had still been feasting on the dead body, but his compatriot's head bounced off his face, making him notice Ukyo. He began to get up.
"Not this time, buddy."
With lightning-quick speed, Ukyo pulled her battle spatula out of the floor, ran full-speed into the next room, and plowed through the zombie, slicing it in half down the middle. She took off her overshirt to reveal a once white, now blood-stained teeshirt, along with her bandolier and several throwing spatulas.
"Now...where did Mousse go?"

Tatewaki and Kodachi walked up the massive staircase in the foyer. Kodachi was armed with only a ribbon, while 'ol Blue Thunder carried his familiar wooden sword. As they reached the top, they looked either way and saw that the staircase led in both directions.
"Well, it looks like we've come to a fork," Kodachi said. "Shall we split up further, brother?"
"Perhaps we shall," Kuno said, "I shall take the right, you the left."
Kodachi nodded and went up the left set of stairs. Kuno headed up the right and went straight. Shortly, he came to a door. Looking to the right, he spotted another door nearby. Hmm, decisions, decisions...
"Alrighty," he said, heading down to the other door. He opened it and stepped inside...no danger here. Walking into a narrow hallway, he headed for another door at the end.
Along the way, Kuno noticed blood staining the walls.
"Hmm..."
He turned and opened the door and stepped through. It was some kind of terrace or something. Wild crows were flying around, but there were few of them in sight. Kuno stepped out onto the terrace and noticed a path leading around the side. He walked over and stopped when he noticed another S.T.A.R.S. corpse. This guy had been pecked to death by crows, apparantly; his eyes were hanging out of their sockets. He was holding a large gun...
Kuno stepped over to him and kneeled down, reaching for the gun, but still looking at the guy's face.
"I don't think you'll be needing this anymore...I shall borrow it."
He unhooked the corpse's hand from the bazooka and strapped it around his shoulder. Almost immediately, the corpse's hand reached up and grabbed at Kuno's clothing. Kuno gasped and jumped back, weilding his sword defensively.
The zombie stood up and staggered towards Kuno. Kuno, however, was a little stunned at this, and backed up a bit. The zombie closed in on him.
>>CHK-CHK<<
***BLAM!***
The zombie's head exploded in a mess of blood that splattered the walls, the floor, and Kuno. The headless corpse still lurched toward Kuno for a second before falling. Kuno looked over to the door and saw Mousse standing there, a shotgun in his hands, still pointed forward.
"Hey, check out what I found," Mousse grinned.

At the same time, Kodachi was entering a hallway above the kitchen. She got a nice view from there of Hiroshi and Daisuke sitting at the long kitchen table. Hiroshi looked rather ill. Daisuke looked up and saw Kodachi.
"Hey," he called, "what's going on up there?"
"Nothing, as far as I can tell," Kodachi responded. That's when she looked around--and she realized that three zombies were headed right for her. "On second thought, I may have trouble here."
They were slow, and that gave her time to maneuver around the other side. However, the zombies quickly caught onto her. Two of them began to go back the other way while the other kept going in the same direction. Kodachi was about to be cornered, but she found herself pressed against a door. She quickly pulled it open and rushed inside, slamming it shut.
Kodachi faced the door and backed away as the zombies on the other side began banging on it. She backed right into someone's arms--and immediately, she knew she should've looked around for danger. But it was too late; the zombie that grabbed her took a large bite out of her shoulder, causing her to scream.
She quickly got the zombie in a headlock, its arms flailing, and she ran up to the closest wall and ran up it, somersaulting over the zombie and snapping its head off in the process. Her hand went straight to her bleeding shoulder as soon as the zombie was dead. She headed around a corner only to see two more zombies headed right for her...but she was also right next to a staircase. She jumped the rails and landed on the steps, heading downward.
Kodachi was in a dark basement hallway now. There was a door off to the right, but she decided to see if any threats were wandering these halls. She slowly walked down the hall, avoiding the large wooden beams going from the ceiling to the floor in the middle of the room. Briefly, she glanced out a nearby window and saw that even though it was early in the morning, it looked extremely dark outside.
She continued forward, but no sooner than she had taken two steps, one of those undead dogs burst through the windowpane and landed right on top of her. Its teeth ripped at her right arm, and she pummeled it with her other arm. She cried out in pain as the blood began to flow. The dog snarled and continued to pull at her arm. Kodachi did the only thing she could think of; she took the handle of her ribbon and jammed it right into the cerberus' eye. The dog yelped and fell back, thrashing around. Kodachi stood up shakily and flinched as she saw another dog burst through a window further down the hall, and another at the end of the hall.
She immediately ran back to the stairs, but she saw that the zombies were already on their way down. Kodachi went around to the back of the stairs and hid in a dark spot underneath, breathing unevenly.
"Ho ho ho...they won't find you here, girl...they won't find you here..."
She tried to reassure herself as she saw the zombies continue past her down the hallway.
"Heh heh...they won't find you h--"
A sudden, low, hissing sound stopped her. She realized suddenly, that she was not alone under the stairs. She slowly turned to see a large, grotesque, reptillian creature with massive muscle structure, yellow eyes, and wickedly sharp claws and teeth. It almost seemed to be smiling at her.
Before Kodachi could make her next move, the beast's arm shot out and punched right through her chest. She fell back, spewing blood, feeling the pain. The creature twisted its hand around inside her, ripping her vital organs apart. Kodachi coughed out blood one final time before her head hit the floor.
The Hunter removed its hand from the dead meat and shrieked as it leaped towards an unwary zombie.

Daisuke was completely alert. He was helping Hiroshi along as they headed up the stairs. Hiroshi was getting paler and paler.
"Uhh...why...are we going up here, dude?" Hiroshi asked weakly.
"I thought I heard something...besides, why should we just sit around? It's boring."
"It beats getting mutilated..."
"Yeah, yeah, shut up. Do you still have that gun from that one soldier?"
Hiroshi reached into his pants and yanked out the pistol, handing it to Daisuke. They came to a door and entered. There was a zombie at the end of the hallway, his back to them.
The two tried to be as quiet as possible as they inched towards a door on the right. The entered quickly and looked around. This room was a little bright than the previous one. They headed forth and turned left at a corner...
And they saw another S.T.A.R.S. soldier lying on the ground. He was holding onto a wound, but he had many; it looked like something big tried to take a bite out of him. Also, the wounds were turning blue, purple, and black. Daisuke leaned down next to the guy and Hiroshi stood back, simply staring.
"Holy shit...what happened to you?" Daisuke asked the guy.
"...there's...a big fuckin' snake around here...took a bite outta me...poisonous..."
"Just hold tight, man. We'll find a way to get you outta here."
"...you...with S.T.A.R.S.? Take my radio...I ain't gonna need it..."
The guy handed Daisuke a small radio and closed his eyes. Daisuke looked at him for a moment longer.
"Thanks, man--"
The guy's mouth opened and he spewed a shitload of blood into Daisuke's face. Daisuke remained motionless, yet stunned as he opened his eyes.
"...thanks a LOT."
He stood up and waved Hiroshi forward. Hiroshi stepped over the dead body and followed Daisuke into the next room, where two zombies awaited them. Without thinking, Daisuke raised the gun and pulled the trigger, blasting a bullet into one zombie's head. The other zombie was right behind it, and the bullet had gone straight through into his head as well. They both dropped. Daisuke and Hiroshi looked at each other and grinned.
"Dude," Hiroshi said.
"Dude," Daisuke agreed.
Now they had a choice: go straight or go left. Deciding that it would be a shorter walk, they went straight, up three wooden steps, to a locked door. Daisuke shot through the lock and pushed the door halfway open.
"Was it locked?" Hiroshi asked.
Daisuke turned back, annoyed. "Of course it was locked, dumb shit. You think I would've shot it if it wasn't?"
"Oh...right."
"I swear," Daisuke said as he turned back to the door and pushed it open the rest of the way, "you'd just die without me--"
As soon as the door opened, the last thing Daisuke saw was a giant snake rearing back, getting ready to strike. It leaped forward and sank its teeth right into Daisuke's midsection. It pulled him into the air and shook him around as he screamed in pain. He raised the gun and shot the snake in the head, but its thick skin didn't allow for penetration. The snake's giant tail whipped out and snapped Daisuke's hand off at the wrist, leaving him without a gun. He screamed and beat on the thing's hide with the radio in his other hand. The snake's tail took off that hand, too, sending it clear into the other room.
Hiroshi simply stared in shock, mouth agape, as Daisuke first screamed, then began to turn purple, then fell to the floor in a splatter of blood that hit Hiroshi square in the face, knocking him down the stairs to the floor. He looked back to see that the snake had actually bitten off Daisuke's ribcage, and was now swallowing him from the feet up.
Hiroshi fell onto his stomach, shaking, wide-eyed, face covered in blood. He tried to crawl slowly forward, and he stopped as he came to a pair of shoes. Looking up, he saw Kuno looking down at him and Mousse observing the carnage in the next room.
"Oh my god," Mousse said, still staring. "Kuno, we gotta go now. Get him and then take care of that snake."
Mousse backed towards the door, pointing a shotgun in the direction of the snake. Kuno nodded and grabbed Hiroshi by the back of the shirt, dragging him quickly into the next room. Hiroshi sat up and watched as the snake finished its meal and turned back to see fresh meat. It hissed, but as soon as it opened its mouth, Kuno raised the bazooka and fired a round right into the snake's mouth. He slammed the door shut as soon as it hit, and there was a loud explosion on the other side of the door.
Mousse looked down at Hiroshi, who was still scared out of his mind. "Are you ok? Can you walk?"
Hiroshi nodded and Mousse helped him up.
"BACK!" Kuno yelled suddenly, and both Hiroshi and Mousse leaned back as Kuno's sword darted through the air between them and skewered the face of an oncoming zombie, which stuck to the door.
