Return to the Cabin
“Hmm how does it look,” I ask.
“Well its not quite dark enough don't you think. Maybe we should have gone with a different color. Plus it kind of looks a mess. Has no one ever taught you how?” he laughed slightly.
“Well I am a city girl at heart, we tend to hire people to do this work,” I replied.
Adrian continued to examine my paint job. It wasn't the date I had in mind. After our confessions at my hotel room, Adrian decided to take me shopping. He wanted me moved into my new apartment as soon as possible. I think he was worried about Drake finding me at the hotel where security wasn't the best. At least the apartment building required a key to get into the complex. After I bought what furniture was needed he helped me settle into my new apartment, which I quickly fell in love with. It was that night he asked me out on a date for that following weekend. He told me to pack enough clothes for a couple of days. I had no clue what he had in mind. He picked me up yesterday and we ended up driving to his cabin in the woods. I was completely surprised. I had thought oh it's going to be a nice romantic weekend in his cabin, until he handed me some overalls and paint buckets. I even smile at the thought now of what my expression must have been.
“Ok I guess I'm going to have to give you a lesson in painting a wall,” he laughed as I was taken away from my thoughts.
“If you insist,” I smiled.
Adrian came up behind me and took my right hand into his. He was so close that I could feel warmth on my neck from is gentle breaths. Luckily he couldn't see how red my face had become at this closeness.
“Ok you want your brush strokes to go in a specific pattern,” he spoke softly has he guided my hand. As we continued to move together, he gently placed a kiss on my neck, which caused a shiver to go through me at his slight touch. “I think you are getting the hang of this” he whispered in my ear. He is driving me crazy, I thought to myself.
He pulled away suddenly to observe my work. As he backed up he didn't realize the paint can was behind him, which he soon tripped over and fell on the floor causing the paint can to spill all over him. I turned around in time to see the site and couldn't help but laugh.
“Well I thought the paint is supposed to go on the walls not the floor,” I laughed while looking at Adrian on the floor with paint all over him. “Though I think red is your color.”
“Oh ha ha. I'm glad you are having fun at my expense. Could you at least help me up?” he asked while holding out his paint covered hand.
I put the paint brush back into my tray and took his hand in mine.
“Adrian!” I yelled as he pulled me onto him and the paint instead of letting me help him up.
“Well I thought red was also your color too, I couldn't let you miss out in all the fun,” he chuckled as he touched my nose leaving a paint mark. “Aww your nose is all red now,” he laughed.
I then took some paint in my hand and rubbed it on his cheeks. “And now you have rosy red cheeks. I think they suite you.” I laughed.
“Oh you think,” he said with a smirk which then led into us both having a paint war. We both ended up getting paint everywhere; the floor, the walls and ourselves were speckled in paint. Soon we both stopped and looked at each other, breathing heavily. He then came at me and pinned me to the floor tickling me.
“No fair, that's cheating!” I said through laughter. He soon stopped and looked down at me as our eyes met. The look he gave me took my breath away. It revealed so much with so little expression. He showed me what true happiness looked like in an instant. He slowly lowered his face towards mine and stole a kiss, which I gladly granted. He wrapped his arms underneath me lifting me to him as he deepened the kiss. The kiss felt different. I didn't know that I could feel anymore bliss than what his previous kisses gave me, but this one topped them all. I guess he will continue to surprise me with how much he cares through every touch. I then run my hand through his hair while holding on to him with my other hand, as if telling him I'm yours; yours to protect, yours to cherish, yours to have completely. While his one hand held me to him, the other lightly rubbed my back caringly. He soon trailed kisses down my neck but quickly returned his lips to mine not wanting them to feel left out. This lasted for several minutes, until he pulled away suddenly. He laid me back to the floor and sat up looking at me.
“I think it best if we get cleaned up before all this paint dries,” he smiled. “I have to take care of something first, you may have the shower if you like,” he said while helping me up. He gave me a quick peck on my cheek to say everything was fine, but something felt different. He soon walked away and headed outside.
Something is bothering him; I wonder what it could be. I guess he will tell me if he wants me to know. I soon head to the shower and get cleaned up. I changed my clothes and then headed back into the room where we were painting. He still isn't back. I then head outside and find Adrian sitting on the porch swing staring off into the darkness of the night.
“Adrian?” I spoke up. He didn't respond. I walked towards him saying his name again, “Adrian?”
He looked towards me and smiled. “Sorry didn't hear you. I must have been lost in thought.” He scooted over to let me sit next to him.
I took a seat, “Is everything ok? You seem a little distant.”
He took my hand in his and brought it to his lips in a kiss. “Everything is fine. I just got caught up in a moment back there, and I didn't want to rush anything. I was also a little caught off guard.”
“By what?” I asked.
He looked to me and placed an arm around me, cuddling me closer to him. “I was caught off guard by you; by us. I've never felt such feelings for another person before. Not feelings so deep. I care for you greatly. I hope you know this.” He looked down into my eyes.
I leaned up and met my lips with his. “Yes I know everything you are feeling. It's as if we are sharing the same thoughts and feelings, like one soul.” I smiled up at him.
“I like the sound of that. Two bodies yet one soul,” he laughed slightly at the thought and started to rock the porch swing holding me in his arms. I leaned my head against his chest as we both looked into the starry night enjoying the quiet that it provided. I soon drifted off to sleep.
The next morning I found myself in the bed of one of the rooms of the cabin. Adrian must have carried me here last night after I fell asleep, I thought with a smile. I stretched and embraced the morning sun and soon I smelled something good wafting in the air. I changed into some cleaner clothes and headed to the kitchen where I found Adrian making breakfast. He looked so at home in his pj bottoms while cooking. I felt like a real couple, a feeling I don't think I had with Drake.
“Good morning” I said while wrapping my arms around him from behind, leaving a peck on his back.
“Yes it is quite a good morning,” he quickly turned around taking me into his arms. “I hope you are hungry.”
“Oh ever since I smelled breakfast from my room I was hungry.” I laughed slightly as I leaned against his chest.
He kissed my head and let me go as he resumed making breakfast. Once he finished we enjoyed some idle chit chat as we ate the delicious food. Thankfully he can cook. As breakfast was finished we both looked somber. We both knew that it was time to head back to the city, the real world in a sense.
He looked at me and chanced a smile, leaning across the table to kiss me as he got up to take care of the kitchen. I helped him and soon everything was as it was suppose to be.
“I guess our weekend is about over.” I said sadly.
“Oh but it's only the first of many,” he said with a smile.
“Well if you put it like that it doesn't sound as bad,” I returned his smile.
He walked over to me and took me in his arms. “Come, let's get you home.”
If he only knew that at that moment, I was home.
