Slowly, Yuui and Fai Fluorite trudged into their gym class. As twins, they were tuned in to the other's emotions, feeling the same. Right now, they were anxious. A bully was awaiting them here, bent on beating them into a pulp, all because Fai had to open his big mouth and tell the bully that his science project sucked. Seconds felt like hours as they waited for their fate.

The gym teacher, a short but over-muscled man in his early thirties, strode over to the front of the room. "Alright, you sissies," he screamed. "Today is dodgeball! I will assign the captains!" He looked around the room, hoping to find two idiots stupid enough to take the positions. His eyes strayed to one of his best students, Kurogane You-oh Hagemaru. Then his eyes found the school's ultimate bad boy, Taki Aizawa. Confident in his desicion, he turned to face his class. "Alright, team captians are Hagemaru and Aizawa!"

Everyone groaned in response. The coach always picked the athletic ones to lead the weaker ones. Well, that and those kids always picked the best for their teams, so that the weaklings were left for the last team. It made most of the kids dread any team sports in Physical Education.

Aizawa spotted his victum immeadiately. That stupid kid that insulted him in biology, Fai Fluorite, was going to be first to go on his team. First on the team, and first to recieve his special Aizawa Punching Bag Beating. He could already hear the pathetic wimp's screams. It made him giddy with anticipation.

Kurogane also spotted Fai. But unlike Taki, he didn't want him on the team for revenge. He had seen that no one ever picked him for any team. He was basically doing it out of pity, guilt, and curiousity. He wanted to see what the thin, frail blonde could do in a dodgeball game. He prayed to God that the coach would let him choose his first teammate.

For a moment, silence filled the large gymnasuim. The sound of breathing could be heard from the other end of the room. Some twitched at the slightest sound, others tapped their foot on the ground. Just as everyone thought that this idea was the dumbest one ever conjured, the coach pointed to Kurogane, indicating that he choose first.

Taki had to take Ashura, the new kid. He didn't really care right now. He just wanted to pound someone to the ground. Once the game started, he changed his mind. Ashura was a monster, pounding everyone that opposedc her. Her size baffled the kids, then they would be pummeled by a dodgeball aimed at their gut. One by one, Kurogane's team dwindled. Soon, it was just Fai and the captian versus the remaining eight in Aizawa's team, including Aizawa himself and Ashura.

The only person Aizawa feared from the other team was Fai. Quiet and shy as he may have been, in a dodgeball game, he was just as muderous as Ashura, maybe even more so. Suddenly, three of Aizawa's men were down, groaning and clutching their stomachs in agony. In turn, he tried to hit the others with balls, only to have them be dodged. None of this would have bothered him so much. It was just a stupid game, after all. But it was Fluorite's smirk that made him see red. That look of self-assurance frazzled every nerve in his body and blocked common sense.

He strode over to the other side of the court and gave Fai a punch upside the head. Blood spotted his fist and Fai's now pale face. Aizawa could barely hear the whistle blow, the sounds of the outraged students, or the principal yelling at him 5 minutes later after apparently being dragged to the office. All he heard was the applause from somewhere deep inside. He had never experienced such praise, and wanted more. More, more, MORE!

Meanwhile, Ashura, Kurogane, and Yasha (who tagged along to protect Ashura) waited outside of the nurse's office impatiently, tapping the wall and nervously drumming their fingers against the wall. Those spots of blood had turned into pools, and Fai had not been able to support himself as they had walked to the nurse's office. They weren't too sure if he would make it out of the office alive.

A few moments later, the nurse stepped outside and motioned for them to follow her. When they entered the small room, they were shocked. Fai was sitting upright, all signs of bleeding nonexistant, and smiling! Yasha and Ashura both sighed in relief. Kurogane, however, could see right through that thinly veiled act. Something was very wrong with that kid. That was the only thing that went through his head as the three approached the blonde.

"Hi guys! Did you worry about me?" He tilted his head up at the celing and close his eyes. "If you did, then don't anymore. I'm perfectly fine. It was just a blow to the face, after all."

Ashura was now sitting on the roof with a sullen Kurogane. He had practically begged her to accompany him, then didn't say a word to her in the ten-minute time span. She was considering getting up and walking away when the black haired boy finally spoke. "You know he's lying, right? He still has a concussion from the blow, and he's acting as though it was all a dream.

"I hate people like that," he said, turning to look at the little girl. "It makes me want to puke when I see someone living in a fantasy world, refusing to face the truth. To me, they're weak and spineless, and I don't really want to have anything to do with them."

Ashura stared at those red orbs, feeling a mixture of guilt and fear. She was exactly the type of person he hated. She hated dealing with being a genius child, born without a gender. Instead, she pretended to be like the other students, a female, and a perfect human. This made her wonder if Yasha was the same. What if he hated fakers too? Ashura felt like she would die if he came to hate her.

Her heart felt as it were contricting on the spot. Quickly, Ashura leaped up and started to run away. She didn't get very far because at that moment, she felt a large hand wrap around her wrist and tug her back. The teenager smiled warmly at the frightened child.

"I don't hate you, kid. Sure, I didn't like you at first, because you acted all superior at lunch, but that dodgeball game changed my thoughts about you. I kind of regret not picking you first. Aizawa didn't deserve you to play for him." All this time, he looked at Ashura straight on. He never released his grip on her wrist. "And about that Yama person." That made Ashura's ears perk up. "He'll protect you from people like that scum. He doesn't seem to care whether his friends are real or fake. He's a good guy-"

Suddenly, the sound of the fire alarm going off shook the rooftop. The two jumped up and ran down the staircase. Kurogane took off to the front office, leaving Ashura alone. The smell of blood wafted through the air. She could practically taste death.

After that, her mind went blank.
