"Well, your husband flat lined three times during the surgery. We're not quite certain that we were able to remove all of the tumor." She looked at the board once more. Her long black hair fell over the board. She was a beautiful lady, probably in her early twenties. "If we weren't able to get all of it out then there is a chance it might reform and cause complications later."

Anna placed her hand on her stomach. She felt like she was going to be sick again. "W-what..." she whispered. "Can I see him?"

The nurse looked back at the ward. "Yes, but you might not want to," she whispered. "He's hooked up to a lot of machines right now...."

"Let me see him!" Anna screamed. Seven hours alone in a room with no news and they suddenly spring on her that they didn't do a good enough job because he flat lined three time and might have not gotten it all out. Some hospital. Some doctors. Her mother was right. All of them were just a bunch of bull.

The nurse nodded. She led Anna to Jun's room. The sounds of beeping could be heard as a machine monitored his heart rate. The next machine beat with the steady rise and fall of his chest as it pumped air into his lungs. His head was bandaged up and his head was shaven so that they could operate. He had IVs in his arms and tubes running into his nose and mouth.

Yes, she was going to be sick. She ran for the trash can and once again threw up. She hadn't eaten anything so hardly anything came out. After catching her breath and washing her mouth out, she ate another mint and moved slowly to Jun's bed. She sat down, grabbed his hand, and laid her head down. Once again...she was here. Watching Jun's chest, Anna cried silently and waited again.

Reisha came in a few minutes later. She sat beside Anna without saying a word. Nothing was needed to be said. Nothing could be said. Anna fell asleep by Jun's side, and Reisha covered her with a blanket. She stayed there all night as well so Anna wouldn't have to be so alone. The next morning they came to take Jun. They moved Anna so that they could wheel him back out in an attempt to do another surgery to remove anything they might have missed. It was another day of waiting and not knowing.

Three days. In that time Jun didn't wake up once. They had removed as much of the tumor as they could, but there was still a chance that it could be cancerous, which meant that he was going to have to undergo chemo. As it was, there was no way for him to do that in the condition he was in. He was going to have to get better before he could get worse.

After three and a half days of surgery, Jun finally opened his eyes. "I have a headache," he mumbled, barely lucid thanks to the numerous drugs he was on.

The nurse came in and smiled at Anna and Jun. "I'm glad to see you're awake." She walked over to his side and held a glass of water so that he could sip on it. "How are you feeling?"

"Terrible...."

Anna sat in her doctor's office. "I should be with Jun..."

"If you weren't so careless, you would be," her doctor said. He had an IV in her, feeding her.

"I've been a little stressed lately. I just forgot to eat," Anna said as she laid back.

"Passing out in the hallway isn't something you should be getting use to, Anna. You have to think of the baby. If you don't eat, the baby will die. If you stress, it could cause a miscarriage. You need to learn to relax and take better care of yourself."

"My husband has a tumor in his head. For three days, he has been in surgery. It's going on four days she I've spoken to him...I don't think my life can get any more stressful. If the baby survives this, it will survive everything." She wiped her eyes. She had cried so much lately. All the waiting had brought back too many painful memories and even though Reisha assured her Jun would wake, Anna couldn't help but think that he was going to sleep forever, just like Adam. "When can I go?"

"When your stats are up a bit. You need to relax a bit and let the IV feed you. Three days is a long time to go with only snacking on crackers and water."

"It's not like it would matter. I throw up everything anyways."

"You're still in your first trimester. It could go away when you get into your second."

"Wow...I didn't know good news existed in this world..."

The nurse smiled as Jun drank his water. "There we go." She looked at the small pads which monitored his heart beat. "Here, let me change these out for you." He wasn't in much condition to object. Taking the pads off of him, she then reached behind for his pillow. "Is this comfortable?"

"Yes, it's fine," he told her. Still she moved his pillow so that she could fluff it. These people really did worry too much.

As she fluffed, she put the pads on her chest. Looking down at him she smiled before leaning over and pushing the pillow to his face. "Eric sends his regards," she whispered as she pushed him down and he was too weak to fight against it as she began smothering him.

Anna slammed the chair into the back of the woman. She stepped back and dropped the chair as the woman hit the ground. Moments later a doctor rushed in and looked at Anna. Anna was shaking.

"She...had a pillow...over his head..." Anna said as she placed her hand on the wall for balance. The doctor checked the woman's name tag. "She doesn't work here." He pushed a button and security came in. "A lot of people have been trying to come in and get a piece of Mr. Higarashi. Though, we didn't know some might try to kill him. We'll place guards outside the door."Anna nodded slowly. Her doctor came rushing. "Anna!" He ran to her and grabbed her arm. The IV had been cut and Anna still had it attached to her arm. "You can't do that! Think of the baby!"

Anna looked at Jun. "But...he's awake..."

Jun was coughing as they replaced his IVs and they hooked him back up to a respirator. He looked at Anna for a second, even as his eyes began to flutter he reached out to her. What kind of hell had he woken up to? Everyone was fussing over him. People were running about, yelling that he needed some protection. This was just great. They were fussing over nothing. He felt reasonably fine. He wasn't dead. Everything was a success. He started to get up but the nurses pushed him back down.

Anna pushed herself off the wall and from her doctor. She roughly pushed at the nurse. "Don't be so rough with him!" she snapped. Anna smiled down at Jun and caressed his face. "I'm going to look after you."

"Anna," her doctor said. He walked over to her and grabbed her arm. She watched as he pulled the cut IV cord out of her arm. "You need to get more in you." He grabbed a chair and pulled it to her, forcing her to sit. "For the last time. Think of the baby." He grabbed her shoulders and forced her to look at him. "If you don't eat and relax the baby will die. Let me help you."

Jun looked at her. He tried to speak, but with the oxygen mask he really couldn't. He motioned for the nurse to give him something write with. When they finally did, he quickly scrawled something on the paper and held it up for Anna to see: Take care of yourself and the baby, and worry about me later! Rest. Eat. Get fat. I'm fighting to see our child so you fight to take care of it.

Anna grabbed his hand. "I'm doing the best I can. It's not so easy being on the outside looking in. This is my second time at this and last time I was selfish someone died." She moved the mask from his face for a moment to kiss him gently then put it back on. "Let me take care of you." She looked at the doctor. "I'll take the IV, but I'm not leaving this room."

The doctor sighed. "Fine," he said and motioned to the nurse. They brought in a new IV bag and rack. Anna held out her arm and let them hook her up. "This isn't a replacement. I'll be sending you a meal every five hours. And you aren't allowed to move until the plate is clean. Otherwise, I'm telling Jun."

Anna laughed lightly. "Sure, ok. Now go away." She turned back to Jun. "I'm so happy you are awake."

Jun waited for the nurses to quit fussing over him. Once they were all gone he relaxed and pulled the mask over his head. "I'm glad to see you again," he said, coughing slightly as he did so. "How long have I been out?" He didn't know why they thought that he needed a mask. It wasn't as if he'd forgotten how to breathe. There was no telling what he might have forgotten however. He still wasn't too fond of the fact that people had been poking around inside his head.

Anna pulled the mask over his face again. "Three days. Keep the mask on. If I have to where the IV you have to wear the mask," she said. She ran her lips over his hand. "I was beginning to think you were giving up on me. I thought you weren't going to wake up."

Jun groaned into the mask. Picking back up the pen and paper, he wrote down his response. I told you, that no matter what I'd always come for you. This is no different.

Anna ran her hand over his face. "Better remember that," she said. Her smile faded but her hands stayed on his face. "Did that woman say anything before I hit her with a chair?"

Jun tensed. His hand rested on the paper. No. Nothing that I can remember.

Anna's eyes narrowed. "I felt that tense on my fingers, Jun. Spill it or else," she said.

Jun closed his eyes. You have enough to worry about.

"I didn't ask for you to pay my father," she said. "Spill it or I'm going to tickle you."

That's not fair! I can barely lift up my arms, much less fight you! Jun looked at her. She wanted to know, but what good would her knowing do? It wasn't like she could stop him. They had guards outside his room. Once this was over, once he got better...if he got better. Slowly the words scrawled across the page. Eric sent her.

Her hand left his and she took the notepad. Her hand ran over Eric's name. Him again. And now he wanted Jun. Her lips tightened. She couldn't be afraid anymore. She needed to deal with this. She needed to take care of Eric and do it before that bastard tried hurting Jun again. She took Jun's hand again and kissed it once more. "Then I'm glad I showed up when I did. That bastard won't get near you again," she said. She kissed his forehead. "Get some sleep, ok? If I'm not here when you wake up it's because I plan to go home and take a shower. But I'll be back, so don't worry ok?"

Jun's eyes narrowed. He didn't like that look in her eyes. Don't do anything. Please. Just stay here.

Anna smiled. She moved his hand to her stomach. "Don't be silly. I'm carrying your child, Jun. I wouldn't put it a risk. Plus I'm too weak to do anything. I'm not you. I'm just going for a shower and getting some fresh clothes then coming back. I don't plan on leaving until you fall asleep."

Jun closed his eyes. Okay. He tried to get comfortable, but it was harder then he imagined. Looking over at her. His hand moved over the paper once more. I love you. He smiled, not that she could see it with the mask on. If they could get through this they could get through anything.

She stroked his face again. "I love you, too, Jun." She moved his mask once more and kissed him hungrily. Slowly, she pulled back and placed the mask on and laid her head down.

A nurse came in a few minutes later with some pills for him to take. He downed, them, nearly choking the process. Whatever the pills were they helped to put him back to sleep once more. At least when he slept it didn't hurt and he didn't have to worry.

Anna wrote a small note for him on the notepad just telling him she loved him and would see him soon. She grabbed her things and walked out. The press swarmed her as she walked out, but she ignored them as she got into the car and spun off. She sped to the police station and asked to see the nurse that attacked Jun. She walked over to the jail cell and smiled at the lovely young woman.

"What did he promise you? Money? Because he isn't good for it," she said and leaned against the wall. "Where is he?"

"He didn't have to promise me anything," the woman hissed. "All he had to do was mention Jun's name. His father ruined my life! He gave me the information and I was more than willing to do it." She laughed. "He's going to make your lives hell!"

Anna shot over to the cell and grabbed the woman's hair. "If he so much as comes near my family again I will shoot him! You tell him that the next time you see him. I will fucking kill him without regret," she said and let the girl's hair go.

She left the girl and walked back to Jun's car. Getting in, she drove home. She got a shower and changed then grabbed the gun Jun bought from the top closet. She loaded it then put the safety on and slipped it in her purse.

Eric watched her as she left her house. His lips curved into a smile. She was going to die, but not yet. He wanted her to suffer. She'd yet to learn the meaning of suffering. The 'gift' he'd left her was right by her car. Two murdered doves. Their throats slit. Beneath them was a cracked egg with the baby dead.

Anna looked down at the birds. He was watching her. "Bring it..." she whispered.

She wasn't going to be scared anymore. She wasn't going to be the fragile little girl anymore. It was time she grew a back bone and fought for what she wanted. Throwing her things in the car, she got in and headed back to the hospital.

Eric watched her leave. He smirked. "This is going to be fun," he hissed.
