Shy Blush

-Toshiki-

I don't get women. Especially Mami and Yumi. One is just nuts. The other is in love with me for some reason. I don't get the latter. She's just a kid. She already wants to marry me. I don't know her. She doesn't know me. Still, I don't know what's worse.

Mami looked like she wanted to kill me. I put up my hands.

“He's busy, I swear,” I said. She said nothing. Please go away. Please go away. But she didn't. Oh boy…

I smiled through the pain.

I'm sure Mami is nice. I just met her. So I don't know anything about her. But still…

I looked up when I heard the door open. A woman with long magenta hair poked her head out of the doorway.

“Oh, hello,” she said. Mami wrinkled her nose.

“Oh, it's you,” she said. The woman bowed her head.

“Hey there, Akita-san,” I said.

“Where is Don?! I want to see him now” Mami shouted. I wanted to jump out the window and run. Please leave. But I couldn't say that. Maybe she will take the hint? No. Please kill me.

Still, Mami didn't try to hit on me.

Oh, Yumi. I don't understand her. So why do I stay? I have nowhere to go. Yeah. It's kind of a sticky situation. But what can I do? It can't be helped.

January of 1995 was uneventful for the most part. Everything was good. I had stability in my life. I had somewhere to work, a place to live, food to eat, and some friends to talk to. Yumi was still hitting on me. She waiting for me to give her an answer. I should say no. But why haven't I? Well…

She won't listen. Yumi is determined to marry me.

“Why?” I asked. Yumi gave me a curious look.

“Why what?” she asked. I gave up at that point. Nothing was getting to her. I had to go with it. Honestly, it's getting exhausting. Her parents were okay with this? I rubbed my forehead. What was going on here? I thought I was going crazy.

“Is something wrong?”

“Huh?” I looked up. Yumi leaned in with a concerned look on her face. I stumbled backward.

“Gah!” I shouted. Where did she come from? She blinked at me. I blinked too.

“Oh,” I said. “I'm fine. Really.” We didn't speak. Okay, this is getting uncomfortable. I got up and walked to my room.

Now, it's February. Valentine's Day is coming. Yumi's always planning gifts to get me. I probably should stop this now. This was getting out of hand. I sighed aloud. I doubt she'll listen. What am I going to do? I just don't understand her!
