Yokoi no Death and Rebirth

Chapter 2

"Shin are you crazy! You can't honest be thinking of go back there," He sister's voice was raised octave above normal as she started to stand only to be held in place by her husband who despite every thing had remain relatively calm during Shin explanation. /Either that or he's in shock. /

"No sister I'm not thinking about it. My mind is made up. I'm going back to Toyama,"

"Shin you can't!" She begged her eyes pleading with Shin to see reason.

"I'm sorry but I have to, my friends are depending on me."

"When do you leave?" his mother's question was solemn and just over a whisper as she stared down at her small cup of steaming tea, a blanket draped over her shoulders.

"We're all supposed to be back by Saturday."

"I see."

"I really sorry mum, but I have no choose it is my duty and I simply can't turn my back on it." Everyone set there in silence, letting what had been said sink in. Shin of course hadn't told them every thing, how could he? Thing were hard even for them to except without know that Shin had spent over a month held captive by the Dynasty, that he had dead after been absorb by Arago that he had spent more night crying in that one year then he had every cried in his entire life. No, they didn't need to now that. / I'll protect them from that. /

"Shin…" The feathery voice of his mother was accompanied by an equally soft touch that brought Shin back from his memories as she knelt down in front of him.

"Mum…" Tear gathered in her sea color eyes as she stared at him.

"I'm very proud of you."

"Mother!" He threw his arms around her and turned to sit next to her as she cradling his head on her bosoms. Her warmth and steady heart beat filling his body and soul with calm.

"It's all right. I know this must be very hard on you. Don't worry Shin we're all here for you, and when this is over we'll be waiting for your safe return."

"Thank… you…" He managed between choked sobs as he felt her rock him like she use to when he was but a little boy. After sometime Shin gain enough control of himself to ask, "Can I stay here just a couple more days, just until Friday?"

"Of course Shin sweetie, of course." Slowly she petted his hair as he felt another pair of arms wrap around him.

"Thank you."

---------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------

Saya pulled away from him.

"I knew it, but no one else believed me not that I tried to convince them. I was too busy trying to convince myself that it was all just a dream. But somehow I knew."

"Saya, how did you know? The whole world thinks it was only an earthquake, no one else remembers the pass year, how is it that you do?" Saya reaction to Touma's answer had been a mixture of shock and relief. Her face had suddenly lost all color as she stared wide-eyes at him; a glassy far off look filling her brown eyes.

"I don't know I just…" she paused in her pacing and glanced over at him. Touma immediately responded rising from her bed to comfort her. He stretched his arms around her shapely frame resting his head on hers.

"It's ok, just take you time." Touma had yet to tell her anything about the armors or Arago. "Just tell me what you remember." She nodded closing her eyes to conjure up the events of the past year.

"It all started about a month after I met you and Shu. I kept seeing the same dream of two glowing ball of light floating in a thick darkness. One was a vivid blue and the other bright orange. In the distant I could see three other orbs, one red, one light blue and the last green."

/Oh no…/

---------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------

Seiji had already left home and was now cruising down the highway in a ride that definitely turned heads, but his mind was else where. He was far to busy focusing on other things. He knew there was no need to rush back to Nasty's, after all the guys probably won't be back until Friday or Saturday but still he felt the need to return as quickly as possible.

Seiji sighed glancing in the rear view mirror catching sight of a hot blue sport car coming up fast on his left side. /Blue… Dammit! Not again./ Seiji had only a few minute ago been able to shake the images of the blue eyed, blue hair archer out of his mind and after all that hard work a thing as simple as the color blue had his dreaming of deep kisses and soft caresses. /Dammit, god dammit. I mean it! Why am I doing this to myself I know he's taken, he did nothing but talk about her the whole year. He more then simply likes that girl he loves her. And make a mentally note her not him, her! Dammit! /

Seiji took a deep and hopefully soothing breath before focusing on the blue sport car, that had now pulled up beside him the drive and his girlfriend make all sort of stupid gestures.

"They want to play do they?" /Good thing dad's a cop with his tags I won't get pulled over even if I do get spotted. /

Glancing over at the other drive Seiji signaled that he was ready, instantly the girl stopped and turned to face front as they both hit the gas, their cars squealing as they zigged in and out of the lanes. /Well this should get my mind off you Touma. /

---------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------

The front was lined with costumer as always at this time of day. Touma signaled for Saya to pull around the back and she did so with easy, twisting the handle just a bit as she turned pulling into the alley where the Faun's parked. Twisting the key her engine cut off. Touma slid off the back stretching as he unlatched his helmet and Saya did the same.

They walked up to the open back door before starting through the bustling kitchen; greets being thrown out to Touma as they passed.

"About time you got back," a very thin balding man said as he gave Touma a playful punch to his arm. "Mama Faun been ranting a raving all day see if you can calm her down a bit."

"Sure thing Gin. Do you know where Shu is?" Touma asked as Saya looked around trying her best not to be notice or to get in the way.

"Yeah he's out busting tables I think."

"Thanks." Touma must have notice Saya nervousness because he reached over grabbed her hand to help guide her through the chaos of the kitchen. After dodging large spoons, trays, bowls and flaming pans they final made their way to the exit and out into the main part of the restaurant.

Touma glance around his height making it a bit easier to see over the horrid of hungry customs.

"Do you see him?"

"Touma I'm five foot remember I'm luck if I can…"

"Hey you two! Suddenly Saya found herself in the mist of a Shu bear hug.

"Shu!" she choked out as he continued to squeeze her.

"Hey Shu," Touma smiled brightly as he turned to greet his brother.

"Shu, I think you're killing my girlfriend," Touma final pointed out as Saya felt her lung collapsing under the far too friendly welcome.

"Oh I forgot," Shu smiled sheepishly releasing Saya at last; she quickly spun around gulping in two lung filling breath before telling him.

"Ok from now on you have to ask before touching me. I don't remember your hugs hurting that much."

"Yeah right, you know I think blue is really your color," Shu grinned as he reached out to pinching her oxygen starved cheeks.

"And black and blue are yours, wanna see?"

"Hey calm down you two," Touma laughed.

"He/she started it!" They exclaimed pouting like school kids.

"Yeah whatever, but seriously," Touma face took on a much more solemn look as he asked, "We have time to talk?'

"Oh… Mama just went up to check on papa and the kids so we should have few minute what's up?"

---------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------

"Oh shit!" Shu blurred and quickly looked around the now quiet restaurant. The lunch crowd had clear out a little bit ago and now there were only a few patrons left. "So now what are we suppose to do?"

"Tell the other of course, I'm pretty sure this isn't coincidental. They is a reason Kaos protected Saya from the Dynasty. Nasty might be able to find something out."

"So then you're coming back with us?" Saya only nodded and it was easy to see that she was as uncomfortable with this as Touma. /Who would have thought? She must have been so lonely. /

Saya had explained everything to Shu with Touma pointing out the matching event that Saya not only dreamed about but also saw. The castle over Toyama, the disappearance of all the people in Toyama. Their first battle when they were separated. Their first battle with Arago and the demon's lord escape into Youja Kai dragging the five of them with him. Shin and Shu's capture followed by Ryo's short captivity before Touma and Seiji rescued them bring them back to an empty Japan. And then their final battle with Arago and the Masho's and last the collapse of Arago's castle which had been felt not only in Youja Kai but also in their world. /It's just too much. / During all this time Saya had been in Tokyo. She's spent a great deal of the year alone in Tokyo with not a single other human to be seen.

"Don't worry Saya…" Shu smiled as he placed his hand over hers. "It'll all be fine, I promise."

"Here you are and… Touma!" Shu flinched at his mother's voice but quickly recovered as her attention shifted to his adopted brother. "I was wondering when you'd show up. I was starting to worry." Her tone softened a bit until she laid eyes on Saya.

"Hello dear."

"Hello Mrs. Faun, sorry for keeping Touma away so long." /Bad move Saya, she was going to lay the blame on you anyway. /

"I see, well I'm afraid I'm going to need him for a bit so why don't you run along home Sario-san."

"Actually Mama Faun I'd like her to stay," Touma began. "We have something important to discuss with you and Papa." Suddenly mama's face wrinkled in fear.

"Oh my god, she not pregnant is she?!" Shu quickly slammed his hand to his mouth as he looked from one horror filled faces to the next.

"Mama!" Touma exclaimed. "Of course not." Touma managed his horror replaced with blazing embarrassment while Saya just set their in stunned silence.

"Oh," was all that mama said as she turned and headed back toward the kitchen, "Ok then when you're done talk can you two come give us a hand in the kitchen."

"Sure mama," Shu nodded tears rolling down his face as the laughter he'd been hold back burst from his lip filling the restaurant.

"Oh shut up!" Saya muttered folding her arms in huff.

---------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------

"So to what do I own this little visit Lady Kayura?" Kenbukyou (Lord Saberstrike) ask stroking Kokuen-Ko, the dark tiger as it vocalized its happiness in a deep purr.

"I'm sure by now you've heard of Arago's very timely demise," she asked her tight black suit curving around her now more teenage looking figure.

Kenbukyou had only seen Kayura a few times before this but as he gazed upon her now he could see that what every spell Arago had place on her must have also kept her body from growing past childhood. /Perhaps she's lost her immortality. /

"Yes, of course. I was informed a short while ago. My understanding is that the bears of the five element yorois lead to his demise by combining their armors powers."

"Yes, it was a glorious show. The power that they wielded was truly immense." Her eyes sparkled with delight as she appeared to be reliving the event. /Interesting I would have thought her more upset over Arago's death, but it would seem that his evil has worked it way deep in her heart and soul corrupted her essence. / "You should have seen it. Someone of your power and strength would have truly enjoyed."

"Is that why you came here," Kenbukyou began getting a bit bored, "too inform me of what I missed?"

"No as I said I have come here to make you an offer, Lord Kenbukyou," she stared straight into his mask her gaze launching on to his. "You see I know what you desire, I'm willing to let you have it."

"I see and what is it that I want?" He asked an unseen white eyebrow rising in interest.

"The swords, you'd been searching for those Soul Swords for centuries, I sure you were quite distressed when you found out that those youngsters had taken them right from underneath you."

Kenbukyou had to cringe at that statement, how was it that she knew of this. Did Arago know this too? Yes he probably did or at least he used too.

"I also can see the longing in that cat's eyes, he wishes to be reunited with his brother, does he not?" Kayura seemed to have this well thought out. /But what's the cost? /

"So you've done your researched, but all will be for not if you are asking too much in exchange.

"Ahh, yes. Well I was just getting to that. You see with Arago gone the neither spirit have scattered no longer being held captive by the demon lord's powers. This mean there are no soldiers and without soldiers…"

She paused allowing him to fill in the blanks.

"I see so you request the use of my army in exchange…"

"In exchange you will not only get the swords that Rekka wields but also the return of your beloved Byakuen. Sound fair?"

/Hardly, but… There is much more to be gained by joining with Kayura. With her help I can gain more power here in Youja Kai and perhaps in…/

A feral smile crept to his lips under the sleek metal helmet he wore.

"Yes, Lady Kayura, it does indeed."

"Good we move out at once." Kayura grinned proudly. "This is merely the first step Lord Kenbukyou, I'm sure you can guess what will happen once those Samurais are destroyed." She said her body beginning to fade.

"Ningen Sekai (the mortal world)."

---------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------

Touma watched from the hall as Saya's fighter pounded poor Fai's Karate guy into the cement on an extremely old 2D playing field. Touma and Saya had been sent up to the house to watch his younger sibling so that Papa Faun could help with the dinner crowd.

Despite Touma's having lived with this family for over 10 years he still was a complete disaster in the kitchen. Sure he could bust tables, take orders and run the cash register but ask him to toss some salad and you better have the fire department on stand by.

With a sigh Touma pick up the phone in the hall. He was truly dreading this call, but had insisted that he be the one to make it. /Ryo's not going to be easy to convince but I have too. /

Another sigh escaped his lips as he begun to dial Nasty-san's number.

Turning around he found Saya forsaking her controller to watch him. She had agreed to go with him back to Toyama in fact she had been very excited when he suggested it that morning. /Kaos protected Saya for a reason. I just hope Nasty can…/

"Moshi, Moshi, Yagiyu residents Ryo speaking."

"Ryo," Touma exclaimed. For second Touma was overcome with happiness at hearing the voice of their leader, before noticed the raised eyebrows of Saya as she set her arms folded over the arm of the couch, her head rest upon them.

"Hey, Tou! How's it been? I heard you went to see that girlfriend of yours before check in with your mama and papa. Boy you really are sprung aren't ya? She must be some hottie."

Touma felt his face burning as he Saya giggle silently from the living room.

"Hey funny you should mention her because, well, Ryo …" Touma took a deep breath holding the phone to his mouth only. "She remembers every thing."

There was pause, an incredible long pause before he risked putting his ear back to the phone.

"Ryo?"

"So you told her then," Ryo asked but Touma could tell by his voice that Ryo mean something else.

"No Ryo. She remembers. Don't ask me how it happened, she just…"

"Oh shit!!" Ryo exclaimed.

"I know that's what I thought, but…"

"No the hottest car just pulled up to the house. Shit what the hell is that?"

"Ryo?!"

"Hold on a second." Touma waited patently as he felt arms wrap around his waist.

"What is it?" Saya ask quietly, "Is he not taking it well?"

"Can tell," Touma replied glancing back at her as she laid her faces against his back, hot breath passing through his shirt sending shiver up and down his spine

"Hey, Touma!"

"Seiji, you're back already?" Touma was shocked but could help but smile at his friend's voice.

Suddenly there was click and Ryo came on using one of the other phones in the mansion.

"Sorry now what were you saying about Saya?"

"Guys, she remembers, she remember the whole year."

"Touma are you sure?" Seiji asked as calm as ever.

"Yes, she new about what happened to us in Toyama way before I even mention our armors. It would seem that she not only witnessed it, she dreamed about it too. Though she never actually saw the armors she saw the whole thing as aura's floating about in her dreams."

"Touma are you…"

"Yes Ryo, as much as I hate that it's true it is. She saw the battles not only in this world but also in Youja Kai. She saw when Shin and Shu were captured she saw when you were captured and when Seiji and I managed to free you guys. She saw the combination of the auras into Kikoutei. She watched it all while alone in Tokyo."

Touma paused for a moment waiting for a response before continuing, "And, and I think Kaos was the one that showed it to her."

There was an even longer pause before Seiji ask.

"What should we do?"

"I don't know," Ryo simply replied and Touma could feel the tension through the link.

"Shu and I both agree that she need to come back with us so that she can meet every one and explain things in more detail. I'm sure that Kaos was the one to protect her from Arago's army when they invade Tokyo and if so we need to find out why."

"But bring her here, Touma are you sure?" Seiji asked. /Do I sense irritation in that tone? /

"Yes, I don't think it's a good idea to leave her here until we figure this out."

Ryo sighed before agreeing. "I guess you're right. So how is she taking all of this?"

"A hell of a lot better then me," Touma grumble getting a giggle out of his girlfriend.

"Well then when are you three going to get here?" Seiji asked as Touma felt Saya loosen her grip, just before placing a delicate kiss on the nap on neck.

"If all goes well tonight we'll leave here tomorrow and be there by noon."

"Alright then, it looks like Shin won't be here until Saturday at the earliest." Ryo informed them.

"Alright then wish me luck."

"Sure thing Tou, I'm going to go take Seiji's new car for a run."

"Like hell Ryo, don't you touch it."

"Too late, ja ne Touma." With that the phone clicked.

"I'm going to kill him." Seiji mumbled.

"So Seiji do I get a ride when I get there, from Ryo's statement when he first saw it the car must be tight."

"Yeah sure Tou, I knew you'd ask."

"Of course you…"

"Touma!!"

"Sorry Sagey, gotta go, bye."

---------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------

click

"Bye, Touma…" Seiji took in a deep breathe closing his eyes as she leaned against the wall. /Tomorrow… but… Dammit, why this have to happen, with my luck she'll probably turn out to be a yoroi bearer./ Seiji eyes suddenly shot open as he heard the roar of a car engine outside.

"Shit! Ryo!"

---------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------

Touma handed Shu another glass as the two of them washed and dried the special dishes they had used for dinner. Their mama had insisted that if `that girl' was staying for dinner they use the good dishes instead on their normal mismatched set of chipped and stained dishes.

"Hey Tou, Saya looks like she's sitting in the principles office," Shu called elbowing is the blue hair archer as he scrubbed away the orange grease stains from the last pan.

Touma glanced past Shu swiping his unruly hair out of his eyes to get a better look as the caramel skinned girl. She sat her shoulder slumped slightly, with half hidden hands folded in her lap, while she attempted to stare a hole in the table.

Feeling the eyes on her Saya glanced up and her doomed expression changed to suppressed laughter her lips press into a thin line as the giggles filled her cheeks.

Looking up to his younger brother Shu expected to see Touma making face at her instead he saw a confused soap cover archer.

"Touma?! How'd that happen, man?" Shu asked laughter now threaten to take over his every word as Saya's giggles exploded from her mouth her body doubling over the table.

"What?" Touma asked unaware of the white bubble clinging to his hair and left cheek.

Suddenly noise from the hall grabbed their attention cutting off the teens' laughter. Quickly the two troopers continued on the few remaining dishes as they heard their parents enter the dinner room where Saya had been basically forced to stay first by Touma and then by Mama Faun who ordered Saya to stay in that seat when she tried to help Touma with the dishes.

"Finally," Papa Faun sighed as Shu heard him drop into a sit most likely the chair as the head of the large, wood table. "It didn't it taking Shu nearly that long to go to sleep."

"Now, now Papa," mama began, "Shu was different case entirely."

"I guess so; he was always too tired after wolfing down his dinner and desert."

"Mama, papa! I can hear you and we have a guest!" Shu shouted as he continued to dry and put away the dishes Touma was handing him. Shu looked down at the teen before asking via their link, ^what's the matter? ^

Shu could feel Touma anxiety and he was slightly puzzled as to why.

^Shu…^ he practically hissed. ^ The armors, our parents, don't tell me you're not worried. ^

^Of course not Tou, I've got it all figured out. ^

A mental cringe on Touma's part could be felt, and Shu gave him a mocked look of hurt before smiling some what manically. Touma slowly handed Shu the last dishes before cleaning out the sink.

^ What are you planning, Shu-kun? ^

^ You'll see Touma-chan? ^ Touma's nose turned up at the cute remark, before wiping down the counters.

"Are you boys done yet?" mama called gaining and instant response.

"Yes mama!" Within second the two exited to kitchen to see poor Saya still sitting in the doomed position, while their parents set to the left, papa at the head of the table mama on his right across from the brown eyed girl.

"Alright so what this all about?" their mama began leaning on the table her elbow resting tiredly on the table top.

"Yes, new news do your to sons have," papa Faun asked a note of him humor in his heavy voice.

"Well you see," Touma began starting to sit down next to Saya before Shu grabbed him by the shoulder.

^You never did know how to approach them. ^ Shu shook his head before pulling his orange kanji orb from his pocket.

"Mama, papa it's about this," Shu began holding up the small shiny yoroi ball.

"A marble?!"

"No papa, it's much more then that."

/Under-gear up! /

"Oh my god!" The speechless response was all Shu needed. ^See told ya. The rest will be a piece of cake. ^ Shu waits for a response and when none came he glanced at his brother. Following his gaze Shu found Saya staring wide eyed at Shu, her mouth opened in silent awe.

---------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------

Night had long since thrown its veil over the sky and land, causing the seas' horizon to mix with the ink blackness. Shin was never quite sure if he like this but at this moment he couldn't pull himself way.

His family, though they didn't quite understand were understanding; if that made any sense? / I wonder how the others are getting along. / Shin hadn't heard from Shu or Touma since earlier, and didn't really expect to until tomorrow sometime. Ryo and Seiji on the other hand he'd heard from, they were busy fight as usual. Ryo love irritating Seiji and Seiji loved the freedom of acting on his emotion for a little while at least.

Shin could feel all of them as the welcoming sea washed upon his feet begging him to come in. A plead that Shin was trying his hardest not to listen to. He hadn't slept since leaving Nasty yesterday and knew full well that if he took even one step into the sea that he'd longed for he wouldn't emerge until early morning.

Shin closed his eyes focusing on the guys. Shin was getting much better at this. Not only could he easily pick up their emotions, he often found himself hearing their surface thoughts. Ryo, and Shu's thoughts were the easiest to pick up but he found that Touma and Seiji usually had some sort of shield up over theirs, Seiji more so then Touma. Shin believed this was due to their up brings and subsequent personalities. Touma's from what Shu had leaked out had a very rough childhood. His mother was dead, Shin never figured out how or when, and Touma's father well, he was no less then a monster. Shin was quite sure that Touma keep his mind blocked off without even realizing it where as Seiji's thoughts were being blocked on purpose. A technique developed through years of hard training by his grandfather.

/Touma… upset… worried…about Saya…I don't want her involved I don't want her involved…

Shu…proud of his handle of his parents, but worried…. Worried about Touma and Saya… Why are they both worried about Saya? Ryo mentioned that she was going with Touma and Shu back to Toyama, but if Touma is worried why doesn't he just have her stay.../

Taking a deep breath he concentrated on the soft soothing sounds of the surf dashing against the rocks and sand before sending its calm through the link to his to comrades.

^Thanks Shin-san. ^ Touma called his mind settling somewhat as did Shu's.

^Yeah thanks… You seem tired, is everything, ok? ^

^Yes Shu, everything's fine I just need to rest. ^

^If you say so. ^ With that Shu went back to the matter at hand. Shu and Touma parent must have been taking it pretty well since the worries weren't focused on them.

Shin shook it off deciding to call the Fauns tomorrow.

Reaching out again Shin touch the edges of Ryo's mind to find him sleeping. Ryo had been sleeping a lot since their last battle with Arago, an effect of the yoroi's energy merge to create, Kikoutei. Ryo's dream though seemed peaceful, so Shin decided not to worry.

Final Shin came in contact with the very confused mind of Date Seiji. /Seiji confused…/ This was very unusual not only was Seiji confused, but he was so wrapped up in his thoughts that he had let his guard down. Slow Shin pressed forward trying to gauge what the blond teen was so upset about.

/Let's see… Foolishness, stupidity…it will never… stop thinking about…/

Shin frowned at the hurtful words the sword man was directing upon himself. /What's gotten you upset?/ Peeking in just a little deeper Shin blinked at the flash of blue eyes that he saw floating about just beyond Seiji's mental wall.

/…love…no it's lust it's… /

^SHIN! ^ Shin flinched as Seiji realized Shin was invading his mind and thoughts.

^Seiji I was just…^

^What did you see! ^

^Nothing really I was just worried you were so confused I was only…^

^Shin I've told you before, Stay. Out. Of. My. Head! ^ With that Seiji's link slammed closed.

"Now you've done it," Shin whispered staring out over the ocean. Sighing Shin sorted through what he'd seen in those brief seconds.

/Stormy blue eyes… confusion…love… Seiji is in love…? / Shin chastised himself for being so surprised. /I mean he is human and he is a teenager… but who could it be, some girl he met back home? But if so why didn't I sense it before today?/ Shin felt he's eyes droop begging for sleep and he realizing he was too tire to figure it out or even really try Shin headed back down the beach toward his house.

TBC….

Shu: Wow that was still boring, when is the action starting.

Shin: It's coming Shu, she has to build the plot first.

Shu: *sighs and then whines* But it's taking so looong!

Seiji: Quiet! We've got teaser to say.

Nasty: Will I get a part in the next chapter?

Touma: Is Shin going to figure out Seiji secret? Yes of course he always does. In every story I've read Shin…

Shin: Touma you're ruining the teasers.

Touma: So what's Destiny's lot going to do about it?

Ryo: Speaking of witch, hehehe, where is she?

Byaruen: Over there sulking.

Ryo: Why? *obviously use to talking cats, been in to many SM crossovers*

Nasty: Must be because she only got 1 single review.

Shin: Poor thing. Let's all help to make her feel better.

Shu: How?

Touma: You know, review, review, review, review, re… *Seiji grabs Touma mouth with his hand*

Seiji: I think I get the idea.

Shin: The point is did they? *points at you* Please read and review.

D.L.: Yes please. I long to admired and admonished by all. To stand in the spot light bathing in the warmth and glory of praises that is all I ask. *spotlight flashes on the short, 23 year old with an Anime obsession.*

Ryo: She needs help.

Seiji: Seriously.
