A New World
~NO POV~
She had never felt so relived as the blue light that meant that she was going back home consumed her. She looked to her left to make sure Sango was still there. `I have never seem Sango so nervous in my life' Kagome giggled. Sure enough the demon exterminator was quite pale. Her knuckles were blood red, and her lips were pressed so tightly together that her lips were turning blue. `The well seems to be taking a lot longer to bring me back home than usual" noted Kagome. `Maybe its because Sango is here with me'. Right after this thought crossed her mind, the transition ended, and they were on their own to feet.
"We seem to be here Sango" Kagome pointed out. Sango was still a bit pale and her knees a tiny bit wobbly. "Sango, I'll climb up first and tell my family that you are here okay?" The exterminator only nodded weakly. `Odd there is no ladder. Sota must have taken it away that little brat' Kagome growled. (Ain't she a nice sister. ^_^)
When Kagome reached the top of the well, she expected to see a wooden enclosure. What she saw was a forest. She was absolutely speechless. By the time Sango got out of the well Kagome had just gotten over her initial shock. "This is where you live?" Sango questioned, "How is this any different from where I live?"
Kagome glared at Sango (hey, even sister's have their fights). No. My time is a lot different than this time. Something must have happened. I know we still aren't in the feudal era or we would be dead by now." Kagome muttered. `This place is completely different from Sango's time and my time. If it was my time there would be really tall buildings and a wooden structure covering this well. If this was Sango's time then we would be dead, and the forest would feel a tiny bit younger than it was now.
" We will think about where we are later. For now let's just go to sleep. We will figure this out in the morning" Sango remarked.
~The Following Morning~
Kagome got up groaning. She hoped that everything she experienced was just a dream, but somehow she knew it wasn't. Dread seized her heart. It wasn't that she still longed for Inuyasha, which she did, it was that she didn't know where they were and she didn't know how they would survive. Setting aside her fears and doubts, she started a fire, and used some water she found from a stream near by.
Sango awoke to the smell of ramen. It wasn't much of a breakfast; however, it was all that they had. After eating in silence Sango suggested, "Why don't we try to go back down the well?" Kagome merely shook her head. `So,' Sango mused, `she doesn't want to go back. Could it be because of Inuyasha or is it because she is afraid if we go in there again then we might come out somewhere worse.'
Once the short conversation was done, they both walked towards the area where they could sense a hint of life. After walking for ten minutes in silence they came across a river with a bridge that had construction that was to advance to be from Sango's time and to primitive to be from her own. They both warily crossed the bridge. As soon as they crossed it they regretted it though.
They had just happened to walk into a very busy market place or something like it at least. Women were dressed in kimonos and police walked around with swords and guns. `Wait a minute GUNS?!' Kagome thought, "The only way they could have GUNS is if we are around the Mieji Restoration, and from the looks of it, it appears as if the Mieji Restoration has already occurred.' "Sango?" Kagome inquired, " I have an idea of where we are…"
~She explained about the Mieji Restoration, and I'm not gonna explain it cause you should already know what it is, and if you don't sorry about that~
Sango was absolutely speechless (I don't blame her ^_^). She thought the idea of Kagome being from a different time was is crazy, but to her this Mieji Restoration seemed absolutely insane. Since this was her future and Kagome's past she trusted Kagome to be truthful on this account. They both slowly and hesitantly walked into the busy market.
"Look at those two girls over there," one woman whispered. " The women wearing an that long strange looking kimono is okay, but look at the other one. Has she no modesty. Her skirt is too high, and too much of her legs are showing. Disgraceful." (AN: Kagome is still wearing he school uniform)
Kagome and Sango walked through the crowed with their faces almost beat red because of all of the attention they were receiving. They both picked up their pace when they heard a drunk man whistle at them. Sango blush deepened, but Kagome was completely red.
By the time they had made it out of the little shopping area both of their faces were so red that it almost appeared as if they both received a terrible sunburn. They were soon exhausted from both walking and trying to hide their faces while they walked through the market. They found a small island with a single tree on it. They both decided to relax there for a moment.
As soon as they reached the tree Sango out all of the laughter she had suppressed during their little encounter with the natives of this time. While she was laughing, she fell to her knees, with one hand holding her side and the other resting against the tree. `Oh man.' Sango thought, `I thought that in the feudal era she really got picked on for her outfit, but here it was much worse.' She looked up and Kagome glaring at her.
After Kagome was done being angry with Sango, she sat beside her exterminator friend and reached into her pack, hoping to find some water. (AN:I know that they are surrounded by water, but lets just say the waters really dirty.) What she found was not a bottle of water, but a huge ball of fur. When see took it out she exclaimed, "Kirara?! What are you doing here?"
The outburst caught Sango's attention, and she looked over at the small fire neko. `She must have hidden herself inside the pack, when Kagome was in her trance thing.' Sango wondered. `But how did she get in there unnoticed, and how was she able to stay like that for so long?' (Good questions. ^_^)
The little neko's head appeared out of the little ball of fur, and she jumped to the ground. Kirara looked at Kagome and then Sango and back to Kagome. She walked over to Kagome and started rubbing against her bare leg. "Meow" the fire neko begged. IT wanted to be petted, and Kagome answered its plea. She picked Kirara up in one hand, and scratched her ears with the other. Kirara purred to Kagome as if saying thank you. When Kagome was rested enough she got up and went back on the main road, with Sango following her at her heels.
As they walked down the main road they came across a field that lied along the banks of a river. A young (AN: or maybe not so young. ^_^) man with red hair, stood within the reeds that connected the river and the field. He wasn't tall, but he wasn't short. He had a sort of elegance to him. His outfit consisted of reddish-purple and white (AN: I don't know what his outfit is called sorry). He just stood there looking at the currents. Even though they were not able to see his face, they could still tell that he was depressed. Kagome was about to ask the man what was wrong; however, Sango placed her hand on the miko's shoulder. With a look and a shake of her head, Kagome reluctantly kept on walking without looking back.
~NO POV (KEN SIDE OF STORY)~
He noticed when two females, and an odd animal, stopped in the street to look at him. He wanted to see what they looked like, but hen they would have known that he was some what intrigued by them. Instead of looking at their physical appearance, he settled for their aura. The younger of the two gave off a very strange aura. It was powerful, pure, yet at the same time soothing. While he was surrounded by the aura, he didn't care if he would ever return to reality, he just wanted to drift within the comfort it was giving off. He desperately wanted to find the source of this aura. He never wanted to leave its presence.
As soon as they source walked away from him, he was ripped fro the spell that it had casted on him. Before they were out of his range of he probed the aura of the other. It made it seem as if the person was kind and very protective of her friends and family. It also made it seem as if she was somewhat cold to people she didn't know; however, beneath that cool exterior, she seemed to be a very enjoyable person. It somewhat remind him of Megumi (Spelling?). When they were both far away, he looked at the path they went down. They heading in the direction of the dojo so he followed them. Kenshin thought, `What ever that aura was, I somewhat feel lost without it. Why?'
~NO POV (KAG + SAN SIDE OF STORY)~
`I don't know who that man was, but who ever he was he made me forget about all the troubles I went through during the feudal era. I wonder who he is?' Kagome pondered. She glanced over at Sango knowing that she wouldn't approve of the man, especially considering what had just happened with Inuyasha. (And who would blame her. v_v)
"Don't get friendly with the people here Kagome." Sango commanded.
"Why not?"
"Kagome, you have to understand that you could be hurt just as easily here as any other place."
"So, you're telling me to not get comfortable with anyone just in case they might hurt me in some way?"
"No, I'm just worried that you'll end up hurt again, Kagome. Besides we won't be staying here much longer anyway."
"I wouldn't be so sure of that Sango."
"WHAT?!"
(To be continued)

Gin: Yo! I just want to thank everyone for reading this. Oh, and I kind if need your help on two things.
1st -I need to find someone for Sango to be with; here are my ideas, so far.
Sango/Aoshi
Sango/Sonoske (spelling?)
Please send me more if you can. Please vote!!
2nd -I need to figure out how to get Karou out of the story, here are my ideas…
Have her never existed (boring)
Have her die in some way (if you choose this one try to give me some ideas)
Have her get married to some foreign guy and leave the dojo to Yahiko.
Pleas vote as soon as possible, or else I might have to come up with on my own and do something you guys don't like.
Sango: You're actually letting the audience decide?
Gin: Yeah to some extent. Give the audience what they want right?
Sango: I suppose so. By the way, where is Kagome?
Gin: Oh. She's getting a little punishment from what she said earlier. (Looks over her shoulder to see Kagome tied to a chair with duck tape over mouth). Any way the Rurouni Kenshin characters will be introduced with more depth in the next chapter. Please Read & Review.
