Chapter Two: The Move
Kagome's Great-Aunt Madoka's house…
Kagome had arrived in Kyoto after traveling the 508 km from Tokyo via train. The young woman had immediately holed up in her new room and unpacked. Setting up a daily routine seemed to be the next thing on her agenda so Kagome soon left to take in the sights of Kyoto. Finding a small park near by, the young woman entered and sat on a bench overlooking a koi pond. It was early evening and the temperature was very comfortable for a Japanese summer. Kagome wore a pair of jean shorts and a spaghetti-strap green tank top with a pair of brown sandals to boot. Kagome sighed and put her elbows on her knees. Life would be vastly different now that she didn't have to travel through time anymore.
That thought brought Kagome's subconscious mind to ponder a certain hanyou that betrayed her. Kagome grew angry and kicked a pebble into the pond. `Why can't I stop thinking of him?' Kagome thought to herself as she exited the park. Lost in thought, Kagome did not see the figure coming her way. "Oof!" Kagome went backwards and almost lost her balance. When she turned indignant eyes on the stranger, she was met with an amber gaze. Brown met amber… "Pardon me…that was my fault," Kagome apologized. The stranger nodded and continued on. Kagome stood there, looking after him. `Weird…but I wonder why he had his hand where a sword ought to be…' Having traveled with Inuyasha for a number of years, Kagome recognized a defensive stance that included sword handling. The stranger also had flaming red hair so Kagome noted his appearance to the back of her memory bank and moved on.
Later that night…
A silent figure ran silently through the dark alley, sword glinting in the pale moonlight. He was on a mission…a mission to shed the blood of a man. Spotting the appointed spot where his victim would soon appear, the figure waited, patiently. Soon enough, the victim appeared. He was a drug dealer…a scourge of humanity indeed! Another figure appeared…the buyer perhaps. The assassin leapt done in almost God-like speed and slashed the shocked drug dealer through the neck. The other person tried to pull a gun out but was stopped by cold steel to his heart. The assassin flicked the blood from his sword and disappeared. The clue to his identity was the red hair that shone in the moonlight.
The next morning…
Kagome awoke to a rainy morning and a rather loud alarm clock. Kagome was about to turn the alarm off; it was on the radio setting, when a news alert broke through the music. The announcer said, in a rather serious way, "Another murder has occurred last night. The victims remain unknown but sources tell that they were killed by sword. Here's Connie Tsung."
The reporter said, "Locals are rather afraid to talk to us but one brave soul said that it was the Battousai that struck last night. For those of you who don't know who Battousai is; he is a mysterious assassin for hire that uses an ancient katana to carry out his dirty work." The news alert went away but Kagome had already gotten up to shower. Thirty minutes later and dressed in a blue blouse and khaki skirt, Kagome was ready to go job hunting. Sliding on her brown Doc Martins, Kagome slipped outside. The rain had stopped and the sun was trying to peek through the clouds. Walking out to the curb, the young woman hailed a taxi and told the cabbie to take her to the nearest shopping center. By noon, Kagome had landed a job at a men's tuxedo shop. The uniform consisted of a long black skirt and a long-sleeved blue blouse. Kagome walked down the sidewalk and into a local sushi bar. It was still mid-afternoon so after a small lunch of eel and pocky, Kagome hit the local theater and decided to see the American Movie, Matrix: Reloaded. Three hours later, the young woman was back in the small park she had found near her new home.
That's it for now…^_^' don't flame!
