The usual I don not own any of the characters from Rurouni Kenshin. Guess what Any and all other characters are me, unless otherwise stated.

Sadly I have forgotten where I wanted to go with this story so I'm gonna wing it and hopefully I can get back into typing this fic.

"You can go see Kaoru now if you like. You'll just need to get someone to help you walk there. You lost far more blood than I originally thought, after sleeping 4 days." Megumi hand on Misao's forehead. "You look pale, but you don't feel warm, so you can get up and walk, but not for too long." Megumi nodded as she removed her hand and stood up. "Would you like to see Kaoru now?" At Misao's nod Megumi left the room.

Misao sighed. `I've been with Aoshi for the last year, and he still is unable to say goodbye, before he runs off to go train." A scowl adorned her face as she shook her head. `He will return.' Misao said in her mind over and over. The door slid open and broke Misao from her chant. She lifted her head and met Kenshin's violet gaze. A smile came to her face as she hid the turmoil, by shutting her eyes.

Kenshin stared sadly at Misao and then spoke at her awkward smile. "You wanted to go see Miss Kaoru?" Kenshin questioned.

Misao nodded opening her eyes. "Yeah, so is it true she doesn't remember you or Aoshi?" A silent nod was her only answer as Kenshin approached her.

"Here you need to get up, so you can go see Kaoru." Sad eyes stared down at her. Misao cast her eyes away, unable to take the look of pity from her friend.

Misao's eyes widened as she realized Kenshin hadn't said Miss. Misao returned her eyes to look at him. `So he truly does care for her. Kenshin stretched his hand out unaware of the formality forgotten. Misao looked at his hand and then looked at his sad eyes, `maybe it wasn't pity.' Misao thought. She grasped his hand and Kenshin helped pull her to her feet slowly. Misao winced as her wound seemed to ache with any movement having to do with her shoulders.

Slowly Kenshin walked with his arm around Misao waist., towards the clinic room Kaoru was in. Misao slid the door slowly open so as not to startle Kaoru. She stared into the room locating Kaoru, who was sitting up in her futon staring out the window. Kaoru had turned her head to see who entered her room. Her eyes seemed startled at the scene that lay before her. Misao was unsure why she would be startled. Kenshin stepped into the room with Misao and walked wit her toward Kaoru. Misao shrugged as Kenshin helped her to sit in a chair, as sitting on the floor would jostle her wound more.

Kaoru had been startled when she looked to the door as Kenshin's arm was around Misao's waist. Her heart seemed to ache and she turned her eyes toward the wall. She smiled when Kenshin helped seat Misao in a chair, then he quickly turned and left the room. A sigh escaped Kaoru making her flinch in pain. "It still hurts I take it?" Misao questioned trying to stat a conversation.

"Yes, I can't really take deep breaths it hurts quite a bit." Kaoru placed a hand under her wound. "My side still aches as well. How are your wounds faring?"

"Yeah mine hurts too, I wish it would stop." Misao smiled as Kaoru looked at her.

Kaoru dropped her gaze and her eyes were covered by her bangs. "Is that man you came in with...is he...are you two close?" Kaoru meekly asked searching for words.

"Huh?" Misao squeaked and blinked. "Me and Kenshin?" Misao started to laugh. "I'm sorry but no." Misao snickered at the look on Kaoru's face. She sucked a breath in as pain shot through her shoulder.

"But he had his arm around you?" Kaoru was perplexed. `Since when is a man able to do that and to have them not care for one another?' Kaoru questioned to herself.

I had to have someone help me, so I could come see you. I'm still week from my blood lose." Misao explained. "I like another guy, who has gone to train recently." Misao placed her right hand over her would lightly and then dropped her hand. "He's supposed to return, when I don't know though." Misao mumbled, a small smile coming to her face.

"How did you meet this man?" Kaoru question, seeing the pain flicker in Misao's eyes.

"My father was killed and Aoshi offered to be my body guard. He's been guarding me for a year already. He's cold and distant, but I've fallen for him even with his attitude. I know he cares for me as well." Misao glanced at her wrist, where a bracelet was. "He gave me this, I didn't even notice until Megumi pointed it out. I was so sad he'd left without saying goodbye to me.

"Mmm, I bet a goodbye would have made it impossible for him to leave and do what he needed." Kaoru spoke softly.

Misao met Kaoru's gaze and a smile came to her lips. Misao nodded, "You're probably right." A small laugh came from her. "I can't be sad, Aoshi would be mad, that I am doing this to myself."

"Yes, you know he's coming back, so you shouldn't be sad." Kaoru smiled a small smile.

"What we really need to worry about is getting your memory of Kenshin back. He cares for you so much." Misao's attitude seemed to be back to normal.

A shocked look came across Kaoru's face. "What do you mean?" Kaoru questioned, but continued her rant of questions. "How can he like me, I have yet to meet him properly. I didn't know his name until you said it."

"You've met him, but the poison seems to have made you forget the guys around you."

"I remember Sano though." Kaoru blinked.

"Well maybe it's the guys you are close to then. I know you didn't have feelings for Aoshi, but he seems to get along with people. His attitude may be cold, but he still gets along with people. He would protect you if needed. You know that right, well you did I mean." Misao rambled and then sighed.

A confused Kaoru stared at a rambling Misao. A giggle escaped Kaoru. "To tell you the truth I was a little angry that Kenshin had his arm around you." A blush stained Kaorus cheeks.

"Then only your minds forgotten him, we just need to bring those memories to the surface. Misao smiled as did Kaoru.

"Misao you need to go back to your room and rest now." Misao turned to look at Megumi and nodded.

`A months passed and still no word from Aoshi. I thought he might at least send a letter but nothing. My wound and Kaoru's seem to be healing well, and as soon as Kaoru's strength returns, we'll travel back to Aoshi's longest home. He told Kenshin that was the last place we stayed, but if it had been, then it would be a pile of ashes on the ground now. Sano is coming with us to help Kenshin on the rode there. He may stay or return here. The dojo will be taken care of by Megumi, who'll only be checking to make sure its being left alone.' Misao sighed and tugged at her braid. "Kaoru still doesn't remember anything about Kenshin." Another frustrated sigh escaped her.

"She'll remember in good time, that she will." Kenshin's cheery voice made her jump and turn to face him.

Misao ran her hand through her bangs, `Whoops she thought.' "You scared me." Misao giggled.

"I'm sorry Miss Misao, I did knock, but I didn't receive an answer so I thought you were resting."

"I was absorbed in my thoughts and voice aloud my last one, I guess,"

"I just brought you some lunch." Kenshin set a tray on the table.

"Thank you Kenshin." Kenshin nodded and left.

Kenshin walked back toward the kitchen once again. "It has been 8 years since I have been to Kyoto. I had hoped not to return for awhile more, but if the oniwabanshu can help protect Kaoru, I will return there." Kenshin's eyes flashed a gold.

"Kenshin." Kenshin heard Kaoru's call and walked past the kitchen to her room. He knocked lightly on the door to let Kaoru know he was coming into the room.

"Yes Miss Kaoru?"

"Could we talk for a moment?"

"Yes." Kenshin entered the room shutting the door and sat close to Kaoru's futon. She was sitting up and watching him closely. Kenshin placed his sword sheath next to him. He saw Kaoru stiffen. "If you would like I can help you to the kitchen."

"No, I'm just not use to men is all." Kaoru tried to relax.

"Do you remember the men who tired to...?" Kenshin trailed off. The naieve look o Kaoru's face made him stop. "Ah never, mind. What did you want to ask?" A rurouni smile coming to Kensin's face.

"I wanted to know what you are to me?" Kaoru said meekly.

"So the poison was entered into the wrong person?" Two officers stood in a room on the opposite side of a desk, where one man with gold eyes sat. His gold eyes gleamed in the darkness of the room.

"Yes, it seems instead of the Battousai, it was entered into a young girl. We had had assumed he would intercept the arrow. It seems we were wrong. The girl has forgotten any man she has ever met, that either had an interest in her or she was interested in. It seems it's has swiped her memory of them from the last year. If I recall she only has the record of two men, one is a man she's met recently and the other was the first person she killed. She knows her father is dead, but she thinks it's only been a year or so. We haven't contacted her and questioned her to know if she knows it's been almost two-in-a-half years. She also doesn't recall the real reason her father was killed. The second officer read from a report, fumbling from the lack of light.

"Why was it neccisary to put the poison into him sir?"

"You are a low ranking officer, and that information is not meant for you to know. Is that all you have to report?"

"Yes sir." Both men stated.

"NOW LEAVE!" A loud growl came from the man who stood up from his desk. Both men nodded and hurried out of his office. The door opening let some light in to show his angular face and a preditory smirk.

The door shut cutting off any light and he returned to sitting in his chair. He placed his elbow on his desk and lit a cigarette, which protruded from his mouth as he though. `Battousai, that will b the only way to get out of this, too many high officials are in this to not become Battousai.' His gold eyes gleamed in the darkness as his cigarette glowed.

"I am just a bodyguard hired to keep you safe, that I am." Kenshin with his rurouni smile I place.

"I know that, what I meant was what feelings do you have for me? Kenshin's eyes widened.

"What makes you think that...?" Kenshin was cut off.

"I understand I have forgotten a lot but some however without Misao telling me taht I had feelings for you or the other way around..."Kaoru trailed off. Her head bowed.

"Yes Miss Kaoru?" Kenshin watched as Kaoru turned her already hidden eyes away from him further. "Miss Kaoru?" Kenshin tried to get a look at her eyes, but she turned away.

Both jumped as Kaoru's door opened resounding with a clack. "Oi Kenshin, Megumi is here and wants to speak with ya." Sano's voice was heard.

Kenshin's face returned to a normal rurouni smile, as he had turned serious with Kaoru's question. He turned toward Sano. "Thank you Sano I will be there in one moment. Miss Kaoru and I were talking.

"K," The door slid shut with another resounding clack.

"I know," Kaoru mumbled.

"Miss Kaoru?" Kenshin faced her once more.

"The feelings are already there." Kaoru lifted her head and met his violet gaze. "I know I have feelings for you.

Kenshin's eyes widened, her weight was then felt against his chest and his eyes blazed into a mix of gold and violet as his arms wrapped around her carefully.

Its taken forever to get this out even did some revisions. I hope everyone will like this chapter. Sorry it took so long.
