A Place to Call Home

The Kamiya dojo gates were parted with the brute force of Sanosuke's fists. The three were aggravated with Kenshin and looked for the whereabouts of the two. Yahiko looked through the courtyard for Kenshin or Kaoru, Sanosuke looked through the dojo, and Megumi was left to search around the outskirts of the building. The three met up in the Kamiya kitchen.

"Nothing…I wasn't able to find a thing. Damn it that Kenshin." Yahiko cursed.

"Shit, and to think that the bastard would actually take Kaoru into his possession. I can't believe it. And I wasn't even here to protect the missy. I can't even think of forgiving myself without her back in one piece. Shit!" Sano yelled hitting his fist against the wall.

"Yahiko, Sano look at this. I guess they left a letter."

Yahiko, Sanosuke, and Megumi:

Kenshin and I left for a better life together. Please don't worry about us. I'm in fine care, since Kenshin won't even let me out of his sight. Saitoh gave us word that there were people that were out to get my life and I didn't think that was true. But Kenshin reassured me that there were people not only after me, but his life as well. I can't bare to see Kenshin protect my life just to save me. I wouldn't like to see him loose his life just for me.

For the way he's been acting, possessive and coldly, please take it into consideration that Kenshin merely wanted me as his own to protect. He as the Battousai is still effective as a means to handle my life and to keep people from attacking me. Find it within your hearts to forgive him. He won't do a thing to me. I promise, and he promises.

We may not be back for a while. And we don't know where we'll make a home for ourselves. However, we'll try to come back as soon as possible. Yahiko, you're a good apprentice. Keep practicing, I hope to see improvement by the time we meet again. Megumi, thank you for all your help medically and emotionally, practice with your medicine and let it exceed the limits. Sano, thanks for everything. Try not to get in trouble while Kenshin and I are gone and try to stop gambling.

I really don't know when we'll come back. Take care of the dojo. I leave things in your hands now. Take care.

Kaoru and Kenshin

"That's what Kenshin and Saitoh want us to believe! That they're in trouble with people in search of them! That's just the perfect scheme! He took Kaoru and is forcing her to make love to him!" Yahiko screamed.

"But that letter was signed by Kaoru." Megumi responded.

"So what. He could have held his sword to her neck commanding her to write the letter." Yahiko scoffed.

"I don't think so Yahiko. Remember at the Akabeko, there was word that some officials were killed? Saitoh had assassin those people in accordance to Kenshin. He probably noticed Kenshin trying to deflower the little miss and knew that it was Kenshin's main priority."

"So what do you propose we do Sanosuke?" Megumi questioned.

"Well, there's no point in finding them now is there? If the missy says she'll be okay, then I guess I'm gonna take her word for it. I just hope that Kenshin is as honest as Kaoru states. If he does something to her, I can't find a way to forgive myself."

"Wait a minute," Yahiko screamed. "Umm…looks likes there's gonna be people headed for the dojo looking for those two. So what do we do if they come here. We're gonna need to find a way to defend ourselves. Who knows who they could be? For all we know, the Yakuza are after Kenshin and Kaoru. We can't give so much as a clue to those bastards where they'll be."

A dark shadow over crowded a desolate alley in Tokyo, overlooking the quiet of the Kamiya dojo. It neared the building and smirked with an evil smile enveloping the minuscule face. The shadow neared closer to hear voices, none. None could be heard. The shadowed figure protested with disappointment, and caused another smile to appear on it's face.

"Well then, it looks like the occupants at the Kamiya house seem to disregard for word about the two's whereabouts. All in due time. I wonder, where could those two possibly be? Oh well, to whatever end, I'm sure Lord Shishio will find the Battousai. Until then, I guess I need to carry out my orders."

The young form, almost feminine-like, trotted off with a fast pace and stopped at the top of a cliff. He scanned the darkened streets and saw three people running, and smiled in assurance. How careless of them. Running around this late at night? And to think that they would know someone was after their dear Kaoru and Battousai. Have they no thought of what will happen to them? Let alone when people find that they're the only ones with much knowledge as where the two happen to be, they won't even last a week. The arrogance seemed to tone off the young boys lips as he turned around and ran off in the other direction.

"Just where do you plan on staying Kenshin?"

"I'm not to sure for myself."

"Are you telling me that we're walking for miles upon end, only to find ourselves in the middle of the forest with no place to stay."

"Seems like that so far." He sighed.

"Kenshin!" Kaoru screamed. "We've been walking for over 3 hours, and I'm hungry. We have no shelter, it's dark out here, and my feet hurt."

Kaoru continued with her prolonged comments and complaints about their journey out of Tokyo since the minute they left the city. Kenshin found it an annoyance with his Kaoru bickering continually for hours upon end. At the beginning, she protested about the food, how he didn't bring enough to sustain for the night, and being the glutton she's more than happy to be, finished all of the rice balls. After he had finished telling her that they didn't need that much food since their destination would come up by early morning, Kenshin sighed when she continued about water. He told her that they had a canteen that would last for the night, yet Kaoru demanded that she get more water just incase she dirtied herself due to venturing; he led her to the river twice. Next, Kaoru complained about the tensed muscles her legs began to emit due to hours of walking.

Kaoru paused and dropped to the floor, knees bent. "Kenshin, can we stop!"

Kenshin snarled mentally and cursed at himself. He was fed up with the relentless bitching that Kaoru wouldn't let up with. He gritted his teeth and headed in her direction. He looked at her pouting face as he tried to pull out a death stare.

"You don't scare me Kenshin."

"I don't," he mocked, taking his sword out from his sheath. He eyed her and his amber orbs looked deep inside her azure. His sword trickled down her neck feather-like and Kaoru felt the goose bumps overlap her body. "Kaoru. If we stay here for the night, anyone that is after us will have more of an efficient chance on finding us. Staying here sheltered under a tree will only limit us from time in duration on how fast we need to get to where we're suppose to. So, you'll just have to make do with what strength you have left." Kenshin dogged her one last time before smiling at the now pouting, sour-faced Kaoru.

"What? Why are you smiling at me."

"Your eyes, they're so beautiful, and innocent. Koishii, you look sexy like that, on the floor so vulnerable. If you'd like, we can rest…but only to do one thing." He teased.

"Kenshin! You idiot!"

Kenshin frowned at her remark, noticing the crimson red that flushed on her cheeks. He positioned his calloused hand on her velvet cheek, placing his free hand around her waist. Kaoru smiled and brushed a light kiss over his arm. Kenshin felt the flame within burn a passionate inferno. He clenched his fist as he felt himself wanting to devour more of her sweetness. He dipped forward and kissed Kaoru with a lustful taunting of his tongue in her mouth. She found herself pinned to a tree with Kenshin's body evident near her own. The sensation raced to her heart, beating huskily and rapidly. Kenshin caught her bottom lip between his teeth and suckled gently, enticing Kaoru to come in contact in a more intimate way. He trailed chaste kisses from Kaoru's mouth down to her neck. He took in her lapel with his teeth, causing her to groan slightly. His wandering hands found a resting place on her yukuta, the only thin fabric that separated his hands from her chest. He made an attempt to part her clothing slightly, giving him more access to her milky skin. He was about to part her yukuta when he thought to himself. Not now, this isn't the right time to do that. Who knows who could be watching. Besides, we need to get to the mountains by morning.

"Kenshin…" she pleaded him not to stop.

"Koishii, we must continue with our walking. A few more hours and we'll reach the peak of the mountains."

"What's up there?"

"You'll see."

Kenshin delicately picked up Kaoru by the waist and held her in his powerful embrace. They continued their walking and Kenshin kept a watchful eye on Kaoru. He saw her expression turn sleepy. Her unwavering body became limp with exhaustion. Kenshin smiled at the lithe bodied-goddess he held in his arms and kissed her on the forehead.

"Lord Shishio, the Battousai and his woman are gone from the dojo. I tried listening to conversations at where they could be, but the remaining people that inhabited the Kamiya house are gone, in search of the two. It's quite remarkable, how the Battousai surfaced once again and decided to get a women after ten long years." Sojiro laughed.

"Oh, so that's what it's all about huh Sojiro? I don't get it, why did it take a little girl to make the hitokiri submerge from within the Battousai. As for me, the last battle we had didn't even manage to bring the assassin to his full potential."

"I see Lord Shishio."

"What to do? Sojiro! I want to face Kenshin, as the Battousai. Then, I'll kill his ass. That fucker made a fool of my self last time. All of Kyoto seem to laugh at my ass, seeking refuge and reformation because of that fucking wanderer. How dare he. What do you think, hmm Sojiro?"

"Well," the boy smiled. "It looks like no one is going to place as much as a finger on that Kaoru Kamiya. Only that thought is intact with the Battousai near by the girl, if only we can pull the two apart. What do you think sir? She'll be vulnerable, that's going to upset Mr. Himura."

"Sojiro, I want you to split the two. However, whenever, just do it. Torture the bitch, fuck her, kill her for all I care!"

"Why, lord Shishio. Don't you think that's a little too harsh."

"Sojiro, shut up. Since when did you care for women?"

"Good point."

The sun rose over the misty-fogged sky and shone over Kaoru's sleeping form. She stirred under the soft, warm, and brilliant rays that contacted the smooth of her skin. She let out a sigh and sat up in her futon. Where am I? What am I doing here? Oh! I guess Kenshin was able to get to where we needed to be after all. Wow, he actually walked here all night long, carrying me? Where's Kenshin?

"You're awake I see. How was your sleep?"

"Good. Kenshin, where are we?"

"This is a former place that I use to reside at. Long ago, perchance saying…15 years at the most. This is where I grew up with my sword technique, under the training of the master of the Hiten Mitsurugi. I learned much here, being my first home and all. Now, it's just a little cabin at the top of the mountains that my former master would come up here once in awhile."

"When was the last time he occupied here?"

"I've not the slightest idea."

"Oh."

"Koishii, I've prepared breakfast, so please. Eat at your leisure."

"Yes. Thank you."

Kaoru stretched at the foot of her bed and yawned. She watched Kenshin exit the room and head for the kitchen. Kaoru looked around the room and noticed dust collected over the furniture, signifying to her that no one has used this cabin in over years. She grudged at the dirt-infested furniture and stood, taking path in Kenshin's direction. When she exited, she yawned once more and saw Kenshin eating. She took a seat near him and placed the chopsticks between her fingers. She looked at the food and derided it. Kenshin looked at her and snickered.

"What is this Kenshin?"

"What does it look like. It's your food." He growled.

"I can see it's food. Just what the hell is it though?"

"It's venison. We ran out of meat, or shall I say there was none to begin with."

"You're crazy if you think I'm eating deer for breakfast!"

"Have it your way."

"I'm hungry still."

"What can I do? You refuse to even touch what's on your plate."

"Kenshin. I thought you can prepare a meal from whatever."

"So."

"Why don't you cook some miso soup or something, huh?" She begged, gripping his arm and putting on a sad-puppy face.

"No."

"Why not?"

"You're being relentless so early in the morning."

"That's because I'm hungry. And I'm not eating deer for breakfast."

"There's no need for you to repeat your self."

"Ken…shin," she protested, pulling herself closer to the Battousai. "Please, I'm hungry."

"We have no time to cook. And besides, since you won't leave me alone about it, why don't you cook it yourself?"

"I can't. You know as well as I that you cook far more better."

"You can learn," he teased, resting his hand on the little of her belly. "But, if you insist I can teach you some methods, if you prefer."

Kaoru blushed a deep shade of crimson and smacked Kenshin on the back of his head. He smiled at her and brushed her down to his lap. Kaoru attempted to gain her footing but Kenshin applied firm pressure on her stomach, ceasing her futile attempts to sitting position. Kenshin grabbed his chopsticks and placed a piece of venison between them. He lowered it to Kaoru's face.

"Eat."

"I told you already…I don't want any deer in my mouth."

"Would you like anything else in there, Koishii?" He teased.

"Kenshin! You…" she yelled at his remark.

"Kaoru, you have to eat something. We're in for a long walk later on. You need your strength, so eat."

Kaoru stared at Kenshin in a dumbfounded way. He glared at her and Kaoru grimaced back. Kenshin let out a sigh of impatience and brought the deer meat to Kaoru's mouth as he parted her lips. She closed them in defiance.

"Have you ever tasted deer before?" He heaved with frustration.

"No," she replied quizzically with her right arm pushing away the meat.

"Here."

"Kenshin, stop. I don't want that."

He rolled his eyes at her in annoyance and made one last attempt to feed her; she refused and pressed her lips shut tightly together. Kenshin shook his head at her disobedience, plopping the venison in his mouth. Kaoru thought Kenshin let up with the forceful eating and calmed her self. Suddenly, Kenshin caught Kaoru's lips with his and shoved the meat into her mouth with his tongue. He broke contact. "Eat the meet." She started to chew slowly, eyeing Kenshin while doing so, and then swallowed. "Good. If you decide not to finish, I'll be more than glad to pass you the meat little by little with my mouth." He smirked.

"I'm sure you'll enjoy that. I'm still not gonna finish."

"Have it your way."

Kaoru struggled upon Kenshin's lap. She started giggling when she saw Kenshin place another piece of meat in his mouth. She tried getting up, but every time she did, he only applied more firm pressures onto her belly signaling her to stop. Her child like antics were getting the better of her when she gestured Kenshin to try his method of feeding once again. He looked at her and sat in place, ignoring her challenge. She crinkled her nose after several minutes passed with Kenshin not doing a thing. She remained there on his lap, with his hand positioned on her stomach gently, awaiting any sudden movements. Kenshin chewed the meat and then swallowed.

"What now? I thought you were gonna feed me. Hmm? What happened Kenshin?"

"Watch."

She started to giggle as Kenshin beckoned her to kiss him. She rose to meet Kenshin's lips and brushed against them gingerly. With her distracted, he grabbed another piece of meat with the chopsticks, lowering it to her body. When she broke away to catch her breath, Kenshin touched her lips with the ends of his fingers. He parted them slowly, and then placed the meat in her mouth. She stammered at his actions and dogged him.

"I told you I'd make you eat."

This continued on for the morning, with Kaoru giggling and Kenshin kissing. She enjoyed it, she enjoyed the way Kenshin would look at her evilly with a piece of meat concealed in his mouth, and when she was unaware he would part her lips with his tongue and feed her. Kenshin enjoyed the sound of her childish laughter, it was music to his ears, the chiming of a goddess that was lying upon his lap, a goddess that belong to him and only him. She took the chopsticks away from his calloused fingers and took a piece of venison from his plate. She brought it up to his face and addressed him to eat it.

"You've been feeding me most of your food. Here. You need to eat something as well." She delicately placed the meat in his mouth and watched him eat, and then continued every so often. Kenshin pulled back the stray locks of Kaoru's black hair and caressed her face. "We'll be leaving again in a few hours. Prepare your stuff and rest as much as possible. We're going to cover some 20 miles or so to a dojo that once belong to my master, and now is entitled to me."

"Lord Shishio, word has come that Aoshi Shinomori is on his way right now!"

"Good job Sojiro. Aoshi, former assassin, will be a good asset to our scheme and the death of the Battousai. How did you ever find such a man great enough to execute our intentions in a well thought out manner?"

"Oh, it was nothing." Sojiro giggled. "You see sir, Aoshi longs for the death of Mr. Himura. Now that he heard about the Battousai's submergence, well he wants to kill him for himself."

"Well planned, Sojiro. I applaud your injustice. However, I want the Battousai to suffer, to feel the pain and agony that I went through. I want him to feel the burns and torment of hell upon his skin, like I did! I want him to fight me. I want that Kamiya girl taken away from him. Just don't kill her. I want to teach Battousai a lesson."

"Yes sir, Lord Shishio."

Kenshin placed his travel sack near the door of the cabin, awaiting Kaoru and their ascend towards their new home; it was a former dojo he grew up in that he thought would please her as an ideal home. The luxuries, the spacious interior, the courtyard, the bedroom. She'll love it.

"Kenshin, I'm ready. We can go now."

"Okay, lets go now. We have a long journey ahead of us."

The two unanimously walked together, hand in hand. Kaoru noticed Kenshin staring at her from the corner of her eyes. She looked at him and flushed a deep crimson color. Kenshin smiled and caressed her cheek. Night passed as they finally came closer to their new home. Kaoru noticed a darkened building through the densely wooded forest. "Kenshin. There it is! We're here!" She yelled happily dragging Kenshin along with her as she ran for it.

"Wow, it's bigger than I expected."

"Yes it is, Koishii. I hope you like it." Kenshin said, covering her eyes in attempt to surprise her with what lurked behind the marble-embroidered gates. When he pried the door open, he directed Kaoru inside to the living room. He let his arms fall to her waist as she gasped at the sight of the dojo.

"Kaoru, welcome to my home."

Author's note: I have no idea what deer meat tastes like, I just used that as something to create and mess around with until I got the motivation to continue writing; I lost some of my intentional ideas, yet I have to say that the whole feeding scene was kinda cool. Well, gotta keep writing for you readers to read. I may take awhile, but I'll get it done.
