Trunks stepped out of his black BMW, whistling as he walked up the steps to the front door. He stepped inside and headed towards the elevator. Hitting the button number 3, he leaned back on the elevator wall. He waited till he heard a familiar “ding” to signal his leave. Quickly walking out, he went straight to his fiancé's apartment.
Opening the apartment door with his keys, becoming surprised when his saw his lover sitting on the couch in the den. He walked into the room and walked around the couch, then leaned down in front of her. Serena held a blank look in her eyes, a hand lightly touching her lips, a small smile on them. She didn't look sick anymore, although, she still looked very pale.
“Serena?” said Trunks, taking a hold of Serena's hands into his own. He looked down at her wrists and saw the bruises that were forming around them when the sleeves of her shirt scrunched up her arm a bit. He frowned, lightly brushing his thumb over the bruises.
He looked back towards her, placing a hand on her surprisingly cool face, “SERENA!
Serena slowly turned her dazed eyes onto him for the first time. She cocked an eyebrow questioningly, “When did you get here?”
“I just came in a few seconds ago,” He paused, looking her in the eyes, “What's going on?”
Serena held a look of confusion, “ What are you talking about?”
Trunks held her hands up into her view, “Where did you get these?”
She eyed the bruises, eyes widening a bit. Her mind began to race over some excuses, trying her hardest to come up with something. “Um…I…fell out of the bed. I must of hit my wrists on something,” Trunks eyed her, starting to believe her. Letting go of her hands, he brought them up to her shoulders, causing Serena to suck in a deep breath and hiss.
Trunks frowned, quickly moving to unbutton Serena's dress shirt she had put on that morning. Once it was opened, he pushed the shirt off her shoulders, his eyes widening in shock. He was put in deep surprise when he saw the dark bruises that were upon her shoulders. “Where the hell did you get that?”
“I told you, I fell!” exclaimed Serena.
Trunks stood to his feet “I don't believe you,”
Serena too stood up, eyes narrowed in anger, “What the hell do you mean you don't believe me?!”
“Like I said, I don't believe you!” He crossed his arms over his chest, “Are you cheating on me? I mean, seeing those hickeys and such on your neck this morning, which I didn't give you!” He began to pace back and forth, “Does Diamond have anything to do with this?”
Serena narrowed her eyes dangerously close, placing her hands on her hips, something she had learned from her mother, “What does Diamond have to do with any of this?”
Trunks growled, “You didn't answer my question! Are you cheating on me?”
“No, I'm not cheating on you!” she shouted. She turned on her heels, turning away from Trunks, stomping her way down the hall into her room, slamming her door shut behind her.
Trunks sighed and ran a hand through his hair. He sat down on the couch and stared blankly off ahead of him. He groaned then stood to his feet and headed towards his fiancé's bedroom. He knocked on the door and heard a muffled reply of “Go away,” He opened the door anyway, walking inside. He slightly shivered upon entrance and walked over to the opened window and closed it.
He turned towards his fiancé who was only clad in her unbuttoned white shirt, white lacy panties and a matching bra. Her face was buried in her pillow, not wanting to look at her lover. Trunks walked over to the bed and sat down beside her. He placed a hand on her side and she moved away from him, mumbling, “Go away,” once again.
He leaned down and started to kiss along her jaw, then trailed kisses down her neck. He pushed her onto her back, continuing his kisses, taking off Serena's shirt off in the process.
Serena began to squirm beneath him when he climbed on top of her, “Get off Trunks! I'm mad at you!”
“I'm sorry,” whispered Trunks, before he started to kiss and nip at her left ear. Serena groaned, trying to fight the urges to succumb to her lover's kisses. But, the attempts failed and she wrapped her arms around him, bringing him closer to her.
“You don't know how much I hate you right now,” she mumbled, as Trunks pulled the covers over them.
“I know,” he said. With that, the two lovers became lost within their passion of lovemaking.
Next Morning
Serena shifted in her sleep, rolling over to bump into something hard, yet soft at the same time. She wearily opened her eyes to see Trunk's sweet serene sleeping face. She smiled, brushing the locks from his forehead, only for them to fall back into place. She kissed his forehead before she climbed off her bed and headed to her bathroom nude.
She made sure that she closed the door behind her this time, while she walked over to the mirror to examine her shoulders. She eyed the bruises that were on them, they were dark ugly black and blue marks shaped like handprints. She turned and went inside her bath tube, turning on the warm water; she began to wash her hair, then soon her entire body. After about 10 minutes or so, she grabbed a towel, wrapping it around herself, and then exited the tub, moving over to the sink.
Taking a hold of her toothbrush and toothpaste, she brushed her teeth, followed by brushing and combing out her hair. Wrapping her towel more tightly around her, she put on some deodorant, and then exited the bathroom.
Upon entering her room, she saw Trunks sitting on the end of the bed, wearing only his boxer shorts. His head was down and he was scratching his head lightly. Serena pushed open the door wider, causing him to raise his head, a smile appearing.
“Hey babe,” said Trunks, motioning for her to come to him. She followed his instructions and brought herself to him. She sat down on his lap and he wrapped his arms around her.
“Morning hun,” she said, giving him a tender kiss on the lips. She laid her head on his shoulder and wrapped her arms around his neck.
“You look better today. Though, you're still rather pale,” said Trunks, looking over her complexion.
“Yea, I feel much better,” she said, tracing invisible circles on his chest. “I'm going to work today,”
“Are you sure? I mean…maybe you should stay home one more day,” said Trunks in a worried tone of voice.
“I'm fine. Besides, I don't want to be cooped up in here all day,” said Serena, standing to her feet and walking over to her dresser. Trunks stood from the bed, “I'm going to go and take a shower,”
Serena nodded and watched him leave, before turning her attention towards her task, finding her clothes. Finding what she wanted to wear, a black skirt with a red blouse. She began to put on her under garments, followed by her clothing. Finding some stockings and high heels, she sat on her bed put them on. She was ready to put her hair up in a bun, but decided against it and went off to search for her briefcase.
When she found it, she brought it into the kitchen and settled it down on the table. She looked towards the kitchen counter, noticing the bouquet of roses. She walked over to them, remembering that Trunks had told her that Diamond had sent them yesterday. She smiled thinking about her best friend as she breathed in the heavenly scent of the flowers.
She let out a startled yelp, when she was suddenly grabbed from behind and was twirled around in circles several times. When she was put down, she turned and playfully punched her fiancé in the chest. Trunks stumbled back a little; surprised by the strength that was behind the hit, “Damn woman. I think you're getting stronger!”
Serena blushed and walked over to her suitcase, opening it up and looking though her papers. Seeing that everything was there, she closed the suitcase and took it off the table, holding it tightly in her hand, “I'm leaving now Hun,” she said, heading off for the door.
Turning towards his fiancé in surprise, “Wait, aren't you hungry?” he asked, following her towards the door. Serena rubbed her stomach, she was feeling hungry, but she couldn't eat normal food anymore.
“Um, I can grab something to eat on the way,” she lied, kissing him on the cheek. She grabbed her keys and walked out of the door. Trunks shrugged his shoulders and realized that he was still in a towel.
“Crap! I have to get dressed for work,” he exclaimed and ran off to his fiancé's bedroom.
************
Serena walked into an elevator, seeing that there were 3 other people in there as well, 2 males and a child. The child was a little girl, short black hair and violet colored eyes. Her father held her small hand tightly in his own. The little girl looked up to Serena, smiling and waved at her with her free hand. Serena grinned down at the little girl and waved back at her.
When a familiar `ding' rang out, Serena as well as the other 3 people walked out of the elevator. She was about to exit the building when she stopped right before the doors. “Wait, I'm a vampire now…can I go out in daylight?” she whispered to herself.
The two men and the little girl walked passed her. Serena looked at the little girl and her eyes widen in shock, when the little girl grinned at her, fangs clearly visible. “My God, they must be everywhere,” she whispered.
The little girl winked at her before she disappeared out of the double doors. Serena stared at the door, “If she walked outside, I guess I can as well,”
She slowly made her way towards the door. She looked around her to make sure no one was there, then slowly crept open the door. She swallowed the lump that formed in her throat, then took one of her hands and held it outside the door in the bright sun. Waving it around, she brought it back in and examined her arm.
“Hmm, no fire or melting…” she said, before she stepped outside. She squinted, the brightness of the sun beaming directly into her eyes.
“Damn it's bright,” She quickly headed towards her car, a silver Mercedes Benz. Unlocking the doors, she tossed her briefcase into the back seat of her car, before she climbed into the front seat.
Placing the key into the ignition, she started the car and turned on the AC. Looking in the review mirror, she began backing out, and then drove off and down the road. She was in the parking lot of her job in less then 20 minutes. She exited her car, grabbing her briefcase, and locking the doors. Waking inside the building, she was met by her best friend Diamond.
“Serena! What are you doing here?”
Serena smiled, “I work here silly,”
Diamond blushed as the duo walked towards their workstations, “That's not what I meant. I mean, I thought you were sick,”
“I was…but I'm better know,” she replied, putting her briefcase onto her desk. She looked down at her table and noticed that all the work papers she hadn't completed the day before she was out, and the things that were suppose to be done yesterday, were all done and stacked neatly in a pile.
Turning to Diamond, “Who did this?”
“I did,” he replied, giving her a genuine smile.
She walked over to him, giving him a hug and a kiss on the cheek, “You're so sweet. You really didn't have to do that,”
He shrugged his shoulders, face turning a deeper shade of red, “Yea, I know…but I wanted too,”
Serena took a seat at her desk, “Well, thanks again,” Turning towards him, “and thank you so much for the roses. They are beautiful”
“No problem,” he said, taking a seat at his own desk as well. He held one hand to his cheek, the very spot Serena's lips once were.
Serena turned towards her computer and noticed that there was a sports bottle beside it. Picking it up, she once again turned to Diamond. “Hey Dee…do you know who this is from?”
Snapping out of his reverie, he turned and glanced at the water bottle, then turned back to his computer. “Yea, it was from this tall built chick. She was pretty scary looking I tell yea, looking like she was about to kill anyone who stepped in her way. Anyways, she said to give it to you…so I placed it on your desk so I could bring it to your house when I got off work.
Serena narrowed her eyes, “She even knows where I work,” she whispered. She took the sports bottle and took the top off. The harsh arousing smell of blood invaded her nose, making her stomach give off a startling load roar. Serena jumped, letting out a gasp of surprise, as Diamond turned towards her with wide eyes, before an eyebrow quirked slightly with humor. “Someone must be hungry, eh?”
Giggling nervously, she quickly stood to her feet and headed outside with the water bottle clasped tightly in her hands. Finding the exit, she practically made a mad dash out of the building, moving over to a wall and leaned against it. She popped off the top of the bottle, engulfing the surprisingly warm blood down her throat, causing her to moan.
She was startled when her cell phone began to ring. She quickly straightened up and began to fumble with her phone. She was finally able to open the lid on the third ring.
“Hello?”
“Darien?”
“Oh my gosh! Hey!”
“You're coming down? Rei and Amy are coming too?”
Her eyes suddenly widened, “TOMORROW?!?! No no, I don't have a problem with it…just surprised,”
“I can't wait to see you! Love you,”
“Bye,” she closed the lid of her phone and ran a hand through her hair with a sigh. “Oh man…why did they have to come at such a bad time?” she looked around, putting her water bottle to her mouth once again to get the last drops of blood, then walked back into the office building once again.
*************
Serena exited the office building, Diamond beside her. She stifled a yawn, heading towards her car.
“Man, I didn't think we would be here so late,” said Diamond, looking at his watch, “I mean, it's a quarter till midnight,”
Serena groaned, “Yea, I know,”
Diamond turned to her curiously, “Did you call Trunks?”
“Yea, I called him a couple hours ago. Told him he didn't have to come over tonight,” she said.
Diamond started to enter his car, “Hey, I'll see you sometime tomorrow, hopefully,” With that, he got into his car and drove off. Serena watched him leave, and then entered her own car, tossing her briefcase to the passenger seat. Putting the key into the ignition, she went to adjust her review mirror as a piercing scream erupted from her mouth. Amara sat in the back seat, hands now covering her ears.
“Shut up woman!” she exclaimed, glaring at the blonde.
“Well excuse me! You startled me,” she replied, a hand on her chest, feeling her rapid heart beat. She looked at Amara oddly, “How the hell did you get in here? I locked my doors,”
Amara sat up, scooting up in her seat to be closer to Serena. “I have many ways love,” she said, taking Serena's hands into her own.
Serena looked down at her hands, shifting uncomfortably, She looked into Amara' s green eyes, seeing something that sent shivers up and down her spine, “Amara…you do know that I have a fiancé right?”
A frown formed upon Amara's face, her thumb brushing over Serena's engagement ring, “Yea, I know,”
Seeing the look in the other woman's eyes, she decided to change the subject, “Where's your friend?”
It took her a moment to register who she was talking about, “Oh, my cousin Michelle? She's spending time with her lover,”
Serena nodded her head with a small smile. Amara began to grin, causing Serena to cock an eyebrow curiously, “What are you smiling about?”
Amara's grin widened, “Let's go on a hunt,”
Serena's eyes widened, “You mean go out and kill someone? I couldn't!”
Amara shook her head, “We don't kill, and we feed. Besides, we don't go after the innocent.”
“What do you mean? How can you tell one is innocent or not?”
“Well, vampires can sense things, “ Amara brought Serena's hands up to her lips and kissed them, “I'll teach you,”
Serena's cheeks began to warm up, causing her to blush. She looked into Amara's face, seeing the anxiousness within those eyes. With a sigh she replied, “Sure…I guess,”
“Great!” exclaimed Amara. Serena gave her a nervous smile. Amara noticed and gave her a peck on the lips, “Don't worry, all will be good,”
************
The two female vampires were out in the bad parts of the city. They were walking about, looking for a victim…a satisfying prey. Amara spotted a candidate and turned to the nervous young vampire, “Look there,” said Amara, pointing the person out.
Serena turned towards the direction, seeing a large Latino looking man. He had a bald shinny head, massive muscles. He was wearing a tight white t-shirt and some blue jeans. A shudder ran through her body, causing her to tremble with fear.
Amara came up behind her, wrapping her arms around her, “You feel it don't you? Search harder! Tell me what he did,”
Serena's eyes began to darken, searching through the man's background. A gasp escaped her and her hands began to tremble…She put her hands to her ears, closing her eyes tightly, “The screams!”
“Tell me…tell me what he did,” whispered Amara.
Tears started to roll down her pale cheeks as she began to shake her head from side to side, “He…he…”
“Tell me Serena!” demanded Amara, almost in a hissing tone.
Serena turned to her slowly, “He killed them,”
“Killed who?”
She closed her eyes, thinking over the horrid visions…. the blood, the screams…the horror-stricken faces. “His wife and two kids,” she whispered.
Amara nodded her head, already knowing what had happened, “I see,” her eyes suddenly turned hard and serious, “doesn't that make you angry…that he's getting away with such a crime?”
Fangs began to sprout from Serena's mouth, eyes becoming even darker. She growled with anger, “Yes it does,”
Amara watched as the man walked into a dark alley, she grinned, the man was making this all the more easier, “Go get your prey…make him suffer,”
Serena nodded, the both of them walking over towards the alley. Amara stayed out by the entrance to keep watch, as Serena crept inside. Her eyes turned green upon entry, as she got closer they turned a dangerous red. The man was leaning against the wall, puffing on a cigarette. He turned towards the vampire, giving her a dirty look.
“What are you doing here girl?” he sneered, spitting on the floor.
The vampire didn't say a word and continued her slow pace towards him before she stopped, standing about 2 feet in front of him. The man eyed her fangs and red eyes, “What the hell are you?”
She took another step forward and suddenly struck him in the stomach, “Your worst nightmare,” The man's eyes bulged out of his head, crouching forward, dropping his cigarette from his mouth. He began to cough up blood as she struck him in the face, making him stumble back, hitting the wall behind. He slid to the floor.
He looked up at her, fear in his brown eyes, “What do you want? Leave me alone!” Serena smirked, darkness etching across her face. She grabbed him by the throat, raising him up in the air, leaving his feet dangling. She clenched her hand tightly around his throat, feeling the bones cracking. She eyed the side of his neck, hearing and feeling the blood moving within his veins. She licked her lips and suddenly sank her teeth into the flesh. The man began to scream, which quickly died down as Serena violently sucked every drop of blood out of his body.
Once done, she leaned back, dropping the man to the ground with a soft `thud'. She licked her lips and jumped when Amara came up and snaked her arms around her, “Nice job. Did better then I expected,” She kissed her on the neck several times, “You're a fast learner,”
Serena grinned for the first time that night, “I actually did it, “ She began to frown, looking over to the limp, lifeless body, “the stupid punk deserved it,”
“Yes he did,” Amara tightened her grip around her, “How about we go out somewhere?”
“Like?” asked Serena, not ready to go home yet, the night was still young…well, for a vampire.
The shorthaired blonde thought it over before she smiled, “We can go to a park I know of,”
“Sounds nice, lets go,” replied Serena, latching onto Amara's hand. Amara smirked, she was going to win this girl over…she looked at Serena's engagement ring…even if some people had to die, she will get what she wants. No doubt about it. She looked at the blonde, and then escorted her to the park.
***********
Amara sat on a swing bench with Serena lying against her, head resting on her chest. Amara had one of her legs off the bench, pushing her foot into the ground to make the swing rock back and forth. The silence was comforting with the exception of the creaking sound the swing made.
“Mmm…I'm stuffed,” whispered Serena, a smile gracing her features.
Amara gave a husky chuckle, “I bet,”
“Can I ask you a few questions,” asked Serena.
“Yea sure,”
She sat up a little to see Amara's face better, “About this vampire stuff, can you tell me the things that I need to know…like things I can or cant do, if I have any special powers and such?”
“Hmm…lets see. Well, as you know, you can go out in sunlight. I suggest that you wear some suntan lotion and sunglasses, especially when it's really bright and hot outside. Your skin and eyes are very sensitive know,”
Serena nodded her head and Amara continued, “Lets get some things out of the way. Crosses, holy water and garlic don't affect us; that's all urban myths. But, I must say, a wooded spike to the heart will dust us, kill us instantly.”
“Are there any slayers or anything like that?”
“Very few actually,” she paused, thinking, “There was a war a few centuries back. The outcome was a peace treaty. Though…there are those who want to do their own things. Fate is in their own hands, vampire and slayer,”
“Go on,”
Amara smiled at her eagerness, “Well, anyways, you have unbelievable amount of strength. More powerful, more agile, and it improves over the years to come. Now, back to your eyes. You're able to see much more clearly in the dark, as if you were seeing in daylight…much like a cat,”
Serena quirked an eyebrow, she looked around and indeed she could see everything that she hadn't been able to see in the past, “Wow,”
Amara smiled once again, she looked so darn cute with them wide cherubic-like eyes, “And as you already know, you have senses now,” She tapped her chin with a finger. “And you have very sensitive hearing.”
Serena suddenly became curious, “Are there werewolves?”
“Actually there are werewolves, but they're rarely seen in these parts. Vampires and werewolves aren't what you call companions…we're pretty much enemies,”
The young vampire's eyes suddenly widened unusually large as she quickly looked down at her watch, “OMG, I have to go!”
Amara frowned and tightened her grip around her, “Why?”
“Because! It's 3:30 am. I have to pick up my cousin and some friends tomo…I mean today and Trunks must be worried! Thank goodness I don't have work!”
“Ok, well if you have to go,” said Amara.
Serena turned to her, hearing the disappointment in her voice, “Look, it's not like I'm not going to see you again. I really have to get going now though,” she stood up, turning to leave. Amara stood up as well, taking a hold of her. She took a hold of the woman's lips with her own, giving her a passionate kiss. When they finally broke apart, Serena looked slightly dazed.
“I'll see you later.” with that, Amara was gone.
Serena stood there momentarily dazed. She snapped out of it as she looked down at the bench she had just been sitting on. She spotted some writing and with closer examination, she saw two names, “Amara & Sara 4 ever” carved within the bench with a heart around it.
She looked at the names puzzled. “Who's Sara?”
