For a moment it was dark and silent. The emptiness in that moment engulfed everything. Then there was a burst of light and the darkness was no more. When it was gone sparkles hung in the air like someone sprinkled stardust everywhere and then stopped time. From everywhere at once came a sound almost like someone singing, but slowly and softly. It was faint, sad, and soul crushing. The last hollow sobs of a mother who just lost her children. The singsong cries of a fallen queen and a goddess losing her grace. It sounded faithless, unforgiving, but yet so full of hope. Like the childless mother waiting on a miracle to save her lifeless child. That beautiful, determined, heartbreaking sadness enveloped everything. Though there wasn’t a single soul left in the galaxy to hear it, it continued. It echoed across a desolate world, past empty houses, down lifeless streets, through a deserted palace and onward past a royal sized garden to a platform made of marble that overlooked a silver sea.
There in the center of that platform two clear crystals hung in the air above two seemingly lifeless women. They pulsed as if alive in rhythms like heartbeats. With each pulse the girls glowed and then the glow faded until the next. They too floated on air as if weightless. Each girl possessed her own unique beauty. One was tall and well-built with long, flowing, vibrant pink hair. Her features were soft, but well defined with high cheek bones, a dainty nose, and small full lips. Her skin was pale and in the setting sun seemed to shimmer like the moon itself. She appeared to be someone of status and grace. The other was almost in complete contrast to her. She was smaller and slightly shorter with less defined features and a more noticeable jawline. Her hair was shaped around her face, but not short. It lifted every time the wind blew in quick rust colored flips brushing softly on lightly tanned skin. She looked the part of a strong exotic warrior. She was beautiful and much more athletic looking rather than lithe like the other young woman. Hanging there in the air they looked like frozen angels or sleeping goddesses.
The crystals pulses grew slower, their glows dimmer as the song grew increasingly depressing and softer. Then she appeared surrounded in stardust that covered her like a flowing dress. An astonishingly breathe taking woman whose beauty outshined that of both girls. Her hair was pure white, her eyes a crystal clear blue that looked as though they were a sea of purity and hope, but they were sad eyes. They were eyes that had seen too much and lived too long. The wings on her back were that of an angel. They were seemingly soft, vibrant white, and shining. She began to walked, but it seemed like floating, to stand between the two girls. Once there tears began to stream down her naïve looking face. She put her hand to her heart and in it a crystal shaped like a flower appeared. It didn’t pulse or shine like the others, but instead it had a warm and soft glow. She held it out before her in cupped hands and then as she stopped moving she spoke these words calmly:
“With the last of my strength, all that’s left of my life force, and endless hope I sacrifice myself so that you may live again and right your wrongs…”
A pause and then in a sad, sweet voice with undertones of pity and heartache she whispered:
“I love you both the same. Your anger and hate breaks my heart.”
Her crystal pulsed and sent a wave of warm light through the air.
“Forget my children and begin anew.”
It pulsed again with grater force.
“This is all I can do for you now…one more chance to live with love and in peace.”
A final pulse, a flash of light, and then darkness hit again.
