Chapter 14 - The Destruction of Everything
By Angel Love
Author's Notes: This is another chapter that takes something from Finding Destiny and expounds on it. In fact, a lot of this chapter is taken directly from there. I hope you enjoy the read anyways.
Standard disclaimers apply. I don't own Sailor Moon, the Greek Gods or any of the characters that I have used to fashion them after. However, the Guardians are mine. They are trained to kill the bad guys. If you steal them, that would make you the bad guy.
The years passed rather quickly as all of the senshi were given their powers and became the Moon Kingdom's Sailor Scouts. I watched with pride and joy as they each grew into beautiful young teenagers.
Sailor Venus I think would always be my favorite to watch. I had loved her from the moment I held her in my arms as a young child. There were times that I wished that I could just break the rules and come out into the open and reunite with the younger senshi of love. She was quite a beautiful, if mischievous young lady, turning heads with her long blonde hair, the front always worn back with a gold clip, and her large blue eyes that shown with kindness and love. She was also an accomplished leader to the Inner Senshi, which included Mercury, Mars and Jupiter and were chosen to be the personal protectors to the royal family or more specifically Supreme Princess Serenity. As a leader, Princess Mina shown in her role, always knowing when someone needed a little help with something or simply just a hug. I was so very proud of the child that had flourished into such a wonderful, giving person.
Not all of the senshi were light and completely friendly to everyone. Sailor Uranus was almost a complete opposite. Princess Amara was indeed an impressive senshi. Her powers were more powerful than that of the Inners because when she fought she was completely focused on her mission and nothing else, with the exception of maybe Sailor Neptune, her partner in every way. Her blue eyes held such intensity that she often scared those whom she was displeased with and her whole persona from the way she wore her blonde hair short to the way she carried herself demanded attention and respect. She was a true soldier but with compassion that continually surprised me.
However intense the senshi of the wind was it never seemed to scare her partner, Sailor Neptune. It amazed me to see the way love always found a way to make itself known between them, because it seemed to give them such strength. Unlike Princess Amara though, Princess Michelle was very graceful, fluid in her movements like the power of water in which she wielded. She awed everyone around her with the brilliancy of her blue eyes and her wavy sea-green hair. As graceful and beautiful as she was, she was like her lover in the aspect that she held all others besides the Outer senshi, Uranus, Pluto, and Saturn, at a distance, with the exception of maybe their Moon Princess. All of the girls seemed to have a special bond with her.
The senshi that inspired the most fear, besides my little sister, was Sailor Saturn, the senshi of death and destruction. Princess Hotaru was a quiet girl, keeping to herself most of the time. Many viewed her as dark and gothic because of the dark clothes as well as the violet eyes and the shoulder length raven hair, probably isolating her even further. But who could blame her for keeping herself at a distance? She held within her young body the power to destroy worlds. Of course, Rose had taken the precaution that this power would only be used as a last resort because wielding the Silence Glaive, Saturn's weapon, was a double edged blade because it came at the price of the senshi, killing her as well as whoever she used it against.
The Outers demanded fear and respect from all those around them, just as the Inners demanded the proper respect, but each of the Inners were softer and more approachable to those around them. Their lightness of heart and joy for life made them people that all of the subjects in the Moon Kingdom were always delighted and honored to see.
Sailor Mercury was well known as the senshi with the brains and the insatiable need to know more. In fact she was the only one who had any inkling of us because Princess Amy had asked Trista just where their powers had come from, so by permission of us and a solemn promise of the senshi of ice, Trista gave her a small book telling about the Guardians and our fight to bring about what they had now. The small blue haired, blue eyed girl was by far the shiest of all the senshi, turning bright red at any compliments given to her. I had to admit that I rather liked her.
On an almost complete opposite to the shyness of Princess Amy was Sailor Mars. Princess Raye was never afraid to tell anyone how it was. Her attitude was as fiery as the fire in which she yielded as a senshi. The raven-haired girl was deeply spiritual and could sense things with her mind, visions of the future and evil yet to come. The violet-eyed beauty was also one that refused to hear anything negative said about her princess or fellow senshi from anyone, usually giving them a peace of her mind before storming off, leaving the person feeling as if they were hit by one of her magical blasts.
Much like Sailor Mars, Sailor Jupiter was well known for her protectiveness of her princess. In fact Princess Lita was much worse about the way she reacted, since she was more likely to swing her fist first and ask questions later, not afraid to take on anyone, not even Sailor Uranus. The senshi of lightening was tall for her age, but quite a beauty with her beautiful curled brown hair, usually pulled back in a ponytail, and her emerald eyes that held a passion for life and love for those close to her.
I watched as the four Inner senshi and their princess fell in love with Prince Endymion of Earth and his generals, Malachite, Zoicite, Nephlite and Jadeite. I had to admit that I had been very aware from the moments of their births that the Princess of the Moon and the Prince of Earth were meant for each other, I just had no idea that the depths of their love would be so deep. They were awe-inspiring. Even the love of between their protectors was amazing, although none of them held the depth of the royal couple. It was a shame it was all coming to an end.
I sighed sadly and turned to look at Rose as Trista summoned us through the Gates of Time, her plea clear. We had known for quite some time that the Silver Millennium was coming to a swift, horrible end. We had begged Hera to let us help our senshi, but she calmly told us that we had to let this era fall in order for the next to arrive. She also pointed out that it wasn't just the realm of our solar system that was falling but all of the others as well. So with heavy hearts we watched as Beryl found Metellia and helped her begin to come into power again, although the evil entity was still without a body of her own. Now things were so escalated that they were beyond our control. We could only go and help clean up the mess that was made and give each of the senshi a chance at a new life, another time to shine again.
"It is almost time, Ang," Rose whispered to me, knowing that we couldn't answer the summons quite yet.
I nodded quietly, closing my eyes to the tears that wanted to fall. I had felt the death of my senshi, their pain of the betrayal of their loves ripping through me, as well as the pain they had felt when they had gotten back their loves in their dying breaths. I could also feel the deaths of three of the outer senshi, somehow my sister's senshi were connected to me emotional just as much as my own. I knew that Trista was now our only senshi left and she was no longer battling because the fight was lost. "We will give them a new life, a brighter one," I whispered. "They deserve so much more than what they got. The fates were cruel."
She put a hand on my shoulder, squeezing it. "Yes, they were. We couldn't stop this, Angel. All of the worlds are falling as we speak. All of us are forced to watch as our senshi die. We gave up the right to jump into the battle when we made them. They will live again, Angel. Queen Serenity will use her powers to do that. It is our jobs to guard their souls until their time comes again."
I nodded again, covering her hand with my own for a moment, taking in her quiet strength, knowing that she was hurting as much as I was even though she wasn't showing it. "I know, Ro, I know. I just wish I knew why things have to be this way. What is causing all of this? Who was behind all of the negative things that happened all at once, in such short time, we are without those whom we have watched and loved for years. It is almost like someone got tired of the peace and decided to play evil with all of our lives, destroying everything in one fell swoop."
She nodded. "I know. I've seen the destruction of this era and another rising in my visions. I can't see what the force is behind it though. I just know that the Supreme Princess is a key role in all of this. She is the one that will make everything good come around again."
I suddenly gasped for breath, hearing the Princess' voice in my head. I could tell by the way Rose had closed her eyes and looked so sad that she was hearing it as well.
"I just want to help. If I could fight, I could have saved them. I wish that I could protect my friends," came the voice inside my mind. The whisper of Serenity filled with such pain and misery that her pain was ripping through me as if it were my own.
My sister wrapped me in her arms tightly, soothing my back, knowing that my empathetic skills were at work. "Let us honor her wish, Angel."
I looked up at Rose, already seeing what she had in mind. "She would make an excellent Sailor Moon, but we would have to repress their memories, all of them including those of the guardian cats."
She nodded, her eyes distant and I could tell that she was getting glimpses of the future she was proposing. "It is better that way. No one should see their deaths of a past life and be faced with so many questions and no one to answer them. This way they have a chance to be free."
I nodded in agreement, gasping again as I heard the last words of the Moon Princess and her Earth Prince before they too joined the world of Hades.
Rose looked very pale, since she too could feel their deaths, unlike me though she did not feel the pain and the emotional impact that came along with it. She just felt their lives being ripped away through her powers.
She slowly opened her black eyes and held out a hand to me, signaling that it was time. I slipped my hand into hers, squeezing it a little as I took a deep breath, regaining my composure. We stepped through the Gates, both of us a little startled to see the ruins that once used to be such a beautiful castle. The skies were black, the sunshine now lost. Bodies of the dead littered the ground everywhere and the bodies of the senshi were being taken to the Earth.
The Time Key glowed a few feet in front of us and we raised ours in response, a soft glow coming from the stones. Destiny and I moved towards the sad Guardian of Time and the dying Queen Serenity with heavy hearts.
"Rose, Angel... it has been awhile." Pluto said with a smile. We had not been able to see each other since Saturn had received her powers four years prior.
We knelt down on the opposite side of Serenity than Pluto, getting a confused look from the Queen. I giggled softly as I took one of her hands in mine, noting that it was becoming cool very quickly. "Hello, Queen Serenity. I am Sailor Love, the Guardian of Love."
Rose placed her hand on my shoulder, telling me silently that everything would be okay. "Greetings, Your Majesty. I am Sailor Destiny, the Guardian of Destiny."
The Queen looked over to Pluto with a confused look on her face. "More scouts?"
Pluto nodded, deciding to make the explanation as simple as possible. It was clear in her eyes that she wished that she had told her friend the truth a long time before then. "These are my older sisters, Serenity. They are fraternal twins. They are better known as Angel, Love, and Rose, Destiny, to me. They are extremely powerful." She beamed with pride at us. "Although they rarely use their powers anymore. Angel is the one who originally gave the inner scouts their powers, as Rose gave the outers, myself included, their powers. Together they forged the silver crystal."
The Queen turned and looked into my hazel eyes filled with warmth for her since I had grown to care about her a great deal as well. I smiled softly at her and squeezed her hand in affection.
My twin cleared her throat and brought everyone's attention to her serious form. "We have important things to take care of."
"Always one to get straight to business," my younger sister joked slightly. It was clear that she was happy we were there, even though we all knew she had hoped we would've come to stop the destruction of a place that she had called home for almost two centuries. She knew though from one look at us both that there were reasons why we couldn't come and that we would tell her everything later.
"Of course, she has no time for fun," I half teased, half pouted slightly.
Destiny smiled briefly at my attempts to lighten the Queen's heart. She sobered quickly though as the queen started to cough. "Pluto, could you do something? I fear we may need more time than we have."
She met Destiny's eyes and nodded before she raised her staff. The garnet orb glowed softly as she put her magic to work, carefully weaving it in an effort to not cross the lines of time and cost Pluto her life. It was obvious that it worked because everything around them seemed to move in slow motion. "I have slowed time."
Destiny nodded her thanks before she turned back to the matters at hand. "Your daughter wished to fight, Serenity."
"What do you mean?" Both Serenity and Pluto asked, startled by this fact.
"She wished that she could protect her friends," she answered softly, not at all fazed by the wide eyed look she was receiving. "Her exact words were "I just want to help. If I could fight, I could have saved them. I wish that I could protect my friends"."
"If you give her the chance to fight for her destiny, she will be the most powerful fighter in the galaxy. For she will be as great as her love for other people." I held up her hand and concentrated on my palm, forming an image of Serenity. I concentrated again, this time of the images that I had received from Rose through our mental link. The image in my hand shifted to that of Serena, Serenity's future self, then to Sailor Moon, then each of Sailor Moon's power ups, finally stopping at the image of Neo-queen Serenity.
"Are you saying that if she fights she will be queen in her future?" Queen Serenity asked, her voice shaking a little.
"If you give her that chance, yes," the darker Guardian answered, waving her hand over the image to reveal an image of Sailor Cosmos. "The scouts are not powerful enough alone. They need Sailor Moon." She waved her hand again, removing the image from my palm, glancing at me to make sure I had not worn myself out with the magic I had used.
"Sailor Moon..." the exhausted woman rolled the name on her tongue, obviously testing the weight of it as well as the responsibility she would be putting on her daughter. She smiled weakly at them. "I like the sound of that. If she wished to fight, then I will grant her that."
"But will the scouts allow her to fight? Or Luna and Artemis?" Pluto questioned, knowing very well how protective each of the scouts were of their princess. "It is their duty to keep her from harm."
"Well, that is easy," I crowed, grinning because we had already thought of this problem and had a solution for it. "We awaken Sailor Moon first and erase the memories of the princess from everyone's minds."
The Moon Queen's eyes went wide. "How will she rule if no one remembers her?"
"We won't erase their memories," my sister glared at me, calling me a baka mentally when I ignored her, "more like suppress them. They will all be able to access them with the help of the princess."
"You will be the one to awaken the princess," I added softly.
"But how will I be able to do that? I am dying." She pointed to her weakening body, showing that she knew that she wasn't going to last much longer.
"We will retain part of your soul in the crystal. Princess Serenity will call you when she is ready," Destiny answered soothingly, not wanting the Queen to give up hope. "We will divide the crystal into eight parts. We will hide one in her and the other seven in the bodies of the seven shadows. That way those people will be able to lead good lives in their next life. The crystal will come together when it is time."
"I can watch over her until she awakens," the green-haired scout offered, wanting to give Serenity some peace before she passed on into Hades' realm.
"Actually you will have to guide them all to the right time," she responded, pulling her staff into her lap.
"We will guard the scouts and their lovers once they get there," I told my little sister, promising her with a look that we would not sit by again and watch them die.
"Unfortunately, there is nothing that I can do about the generals being under Beryl's control. Only their loves can break them of that spell," Destiny said sadly, her knuckles turning a little white as her hand tightened on her staff.
"But you can protect their souls," I said, placing a hand on Destiny's arm, knowing just how badly she was hurting and how angry she was that this was happening in the first place. "Beryl cannot completely corrupt them if you do that. They have a chance for redemption that way."
She nodded, giving me a small smile of thanks.
"Time is running short," the other senshi warned us as Serenity went into another coughing fit.
"Then let us get to work." My twin stood up, pulling me up with her, giving me a look that we had much to be done in a short time.
Pluto helped Queen Serenity into a standing position, wrapping her arms around her to balance her, silently giving her strength.
I pulled the half-locket from the threads around my belly, causing the threads to disappear, sending a small shiver up my spine. "With the power of Love, I grant the Moon Princess the gift of the Champion of Justice. Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, and Venus shall grant her power." The half-locket glowed with the symbols of the inner scouts. I turned to my sister, smiling at her.
Destiny removed her half-locket from her gold threads, also causing them to disappear, closing her eyes as a shiver went up her spine as well. "With the power of Destiny, I grant the Moon Princess the gift of being the Champion of Love. Pluto, Uranus, Neptune, and Saturn shall grant her power."
The purple symbol of Pluto blazed brightly on Pluto's head. Then it joined the symbols of the outers on the half-locket in Destiny's hand.
Queen Serenity raised the silver crystal with a shaking hand, obviously calling upon the last of her strength. "In the name of the moon, I wield the Silver Imperium Crystal to the princess. Only she may use it to its fullest extent, until she passes it on to her heir."
The crystal floated in the air to combine the two halves of the locket, which turned slowly in circles in the air, waiting for the rest of the words needed to complete its intended spell. It had obviously been waiting for this moment since the first moment it appeared on our bellies.
"Sailor Moon, you are faith, hope and love. You are the Champion of Love and Justice. You shall right wrongs and triumph over evil," Destiny and I chanted together. The red locket seamed together and turned pink, showing that its mistress was now another soul. The locket glowed before disappearing.
After a moment, the red half-lockets appeared at the bellies of Rose and me again. Both of us closed our eyes a moment as we felt each of the lives and souls within us, touching us in ways that had never been before. They were now a part of us, a part of our souls.
"The crystal has been dispersed," the Guardian of Destiny said quietly.
"I'm so weak, Pluto," Serenity whispered, her body slumping against Pluto, no longer able to hold herself up. She gasped for breath, as she tried to thank us for our help.
"Don't speak, they know," Pluto whispered, she laid the dying monarch back down as we moved away to give them privacy. She wiped a tear from her cheek as she gazed at her friend. "I will miss you, Serenity."
"Thank... you...for...everything...Trista," she gasped out.
Pluto had another tear escape as she heard her civilian name; no one knew it except us and Serenity, not even the other Sailor Scouts. "You are more than welcome, my friend. I will protect your daughter, I promise."
Serenity smiled softly at her. Then she closed her eyes for the last time, her breathing stopped, her face relaxed in death. This time the death didn't hurt me half as much, since Serenity had been at peace when she died, but I still felt Destiny reach over and squeeze my hand lightly in comfort.
Tears of grief flowed down my little sister's face, causing me more sadness than I had ever known. "Goodbye, Serenity." She watched as she faded away slowly. When she was gone I moved to her silently and put a hand on her shoulder. She looked up to see my sad eyes looking down at her.
"I'm sorry. I know how much she meant to you." I gathered the shaken soldier into her arms and let her cry. For a brief moment I cursed myself again for forcing her into this life in which she would loose so many people.
Destiny knelt down and rubbed her back. Her crimson eyes met mine as a tear escaped her eye, showing so much more emotion than words could ever say. "I'm tired of saying goodbye," Pluto whispered.
I nodded my head, knowing that our long lives have been filled with tearful good-byes. The only constant that we had was each other, we would never loose that.
My sister buried her face into my cropped top and sobbed quietly for a long time. After a few moments she looked up when she finally stopped crying. "Thanks."
"Not a problem," I said giving her a squeeze of reassurance. "What are sisters for?"
"We will stay with you for awhile. But we need to get to work soon," Destiny brought our attention back to the matters at hand. She didn't want to ruin the moment but our time was limited before we would be called to duty once again.
"Kill joy," I muttered.
Destiny stuck her tongue out, causing me to giggle and Pluto to raise an eyebrow but a smile to grace her face.
Pluto nodded. "I am going to led them to their new lives in a new time."
"I will guard over the Princess and her inner scouts," I stated.
"And I will guard over the Prince and his generals. You will have to guard over your fellow outer scouts as well, Pluto. Can you handle that?" Destiny asked.
"Of course." She raised her staff and the gates of time appeared, the mists covering the area all around us, making it seem like the death and destruction had just been a dream. "Let's go."
The three of us walked over to the gates. We stopped as Pluto took on last look over her shoulder. Pain filled her as she said goodbye to a time of happiness and joy. The Moon Kingdom had been around for almost all of her long life. She had been a teenager with Serenity, when we felt that she needed to be with others. And then returning as the Immortal Senshi of Time when we had again felt the need to change her life and offer her the powers to protect others.
Now she looked at the blood-stained ground and sighed. A tear fell from her eye as she said goodbye to that life. Loneliness filled her soul, a feeling that she knew would never go away completely. She turned back and gazed at the gate. Her head bowed slightly.
Rose and I wrapped our arms around her, knowing very well the feelings that she felt since we had felt that way for so long. Then we stepped inside the gates. It closed and disappeared, leaving the moon without life for the first time in hundreds of years. Sending us along a new path in our lives, one we had not expected.
To be continued...
