Chapter 15 - Destiny Finds Her Soul

By Angel Love

Author's notes: This is quite a bit of time after the fall of the Silver Millennium based. The story is going to steadily move along towards the current time in Sailor Moon. All of the dresses were fashioned after real costumes and were quite beautiful. If anyone wants to see what they look like please email me and I will send you a link as to where you can find them.

Standard disclaimers apply. I don't own Sailor Moon, the Greek Gods or any of the characters that I have used to fashion them after. If I did the Stars season would have ended so much better, and I would have a real Duo Maxwell (Hades) as my whipping boy! However the Guardians are mine, please do not take. Vega really does have a whip, and he is not afraid to use it! (As if you couldn't tell!)

Rose and I had taken it upon ourselves to search through each age, looking for just the right time for our senshi to live again. As each year passed without us finding a place it seemed that our hearts became a little more weighed down. We were in desperate need for something good to happen for us. That something happened when we found ourselves in a time that people refer to as the Renaissance era.

We were wandering through one of the many market places in Western Europe, not taking any interest in the people who would stop to watch us pass through. We did our best to fit into the times by dressing as those around us did, but somehow we always stood out because of the way we carried ourselves and what one person termed as our `exotic beauty'.

I had decided to pull my golden curls back and tie the flaxen mass with a red ribbon so that only a few ringlets escaped to frame my face under the beautiful red velvet coronet that was pinned to the top of my head, fine-looking pearl beadings along the top of it. My dress was also made of red velvet and white satin. The red sleeves where puffed to my elbows where they were drawn in tightly just to flare out with the classic Tudor style with the white satin visible with the pretty golden brocade running along it. The corset underneath my snug bodice pushed up my breasts enough for it to be fashionable of the time but not enough for them to be spilling out of the top. The skirt had a hoop underneath so that it seemed to flow around me as I moved, the red velvet coming three quarters around before it parted to show off more of the pretty white satin. On a thin gold chain sat my rose quartz, waiting for my command in case it was needed, which didn't seem at all likely in this time period.

Rose walked next to me, mentally grumbling about how tight her corset was, making me giggle at her. Her black hair was pulled back similar to mine with curls framing her face, since we had taken a hot iron to the front of it, but her hair was tucked half way up so that it didn't fall beyond the pretty veil that hung from her white satin coronet that had a large pearl in the center of it. Over her chemise, she wore a dark blue velvet overdress that laced up the back with fitted sleeves to the elbows and then they flared out in the poet's style to almost cover her hands. The front panel of her dress was white and covered with a beautiful design of beads. Her rose quartz was held on a silver chain to rest quietly, but somehow seeming to catch the light whenever she moved.

We had stopped at a place that sold breast daggers since one of them had caught my eye. The man let me see the pretty jeweled dagger so that I could test the weight of it. The jewels tinkled up at me from the gold handle. It was very pretty although it was quite heavy.

My sister glanced over it, taking it in her hands before she shook her head. "No, I think it would be a bit too bulky to keep hidden. It would only be good for a collection item."

I handed it back the disappointed retailer and began to move away, laughing softly. "Goddess knows that if we started collecting all the pretty things we have seen we wouldn't have any place to sleep."

She laughed softly and nodded. "Rosely would not be very amused if that were to happen." She started to say something else when she went completely still, her breath catching in her throat.

I looked over at her with concern before my face softened as I saw the way she looked like she had been struck by a large chariot with the way her eyes had glazed. I knew that look. I also knew the feeling that had swept through her. I slowly turned to see that there was a similar look on a man not far from us, who had stopped dead when he had seen my sister, ignoring the men around him that were still bantering loudly. He was gorgeous, I noted. His blonde hair was tied back with a blue ribbon, as was fashionable during the time, and his fine clothes of blues, whites and golds spoke of his noble birth. He slowly moved towards us, his sword swaying a little from where it was fastened to his waist, every move of his tall frame was graceful and fluid.

His blue eyes didn't look away from my sister's face as he bowed before her, taking her hand and kissing it softly. "I know it is not proper to introduce myself to a lady such as you, alas your beauty arrested me and I could not help myself. I am Count Waywridge, but I would be honored if you called me Allen."

When Rose remained staring at the Count for a moment, I cleared my throat softly, putting on a polite smile when I really wanted to giggle at how flustered my usually calm twin was. "You are correct, it is not proper." When the young man blushed sheepishly, I did giggle a little. "However, it is proper to be introduced, my lord. May I have the honor to introduce you to my sister… Lady Rose."

I nudged her just slightly so that she snapped out of her stupor to smile at the man as he kissed her hand again, her black eyes locked with his blue ones as he again kissed her hand. "It is a pleasure to meet you, Lady Rose."

She blushed and lowered her eyes slightly. "The pleasure is mine, my lord."

He shook his head, smiling at her, her hand still held in his as his friends watched curiously, obviously taken back by the count's actions. It was very evident that he had been struck with love at first sight of the dark, mysterious woman before him. "Please, call me Allen. Would you two ladies mind joining us for a walk? I should like to get to know you both much better."

She looked over at me, knowing that we weren't supposed to be socializing with the people because we were here scouting to see if this was the proper place for the senshi to be reborn, but for the first time she did not want to think of her duty first. Her eyes pleaded with me silently, but I could tell that she did not dare mentally ask me if this was okay.

I smiled softly at her, mentally answering her unasked question. `You only find your soulmate once, Rose.' Then I spoke aloud. "Of course we shall be delighted if you would escort us around."

Rose gave me a relieved smile as she linked her arm through the Count's, unable to take her eyes from him as we began strolling throughout the market. One of the count's friends, who I later discovered was his younger brother, took my arm to escort me as our siblings fell head over heels for each other. Both of us enjoyed watching as he fawned over her and bought her little trinkets.

I had never seen Rose happier. She was positively glowing as we stayed on Earth for several months while she and the Count continued to see each other. Until one day she came in from a stroll that they had in the garden in tears. I instantly went to her side with Trista, who had decided to come and stay with us for a few days. "Rose, what's wrong?"

She shook her head even as we heard Allen knocking on the door, begging for her to let him in. I glanced at Trista and then I looked at Rose, quietly speaking. "Rose, what happened?"

Rose looked at me, her black eyes swimming with tears. "He asked me to marry him."

Trista blinked slowly, not understanding why that would have upset the usually calm Guardian. "I would think that would be a good thing, Rose. He loves you and you obviously love him. Why don't you marry him?"

I looked at Rose for a long moment when all she did was continue to cry. Finally I understood and spoke softly. "You have not told him the truth about what we are, have you?" When she shook her head, I continued, "You also haven't told him that we are unable to have children, have you?"

She shook her head again. "He was talking about how he wanted to have a house full of children and then he just looked at me, went down on one knee and asked me if I would be the one to give him those children, if I would be his wife. I… I couldn't answer him, I just ran."

I hugged her close, sighing with soft understanding. "Oh, Ro, you should tell him the truth. You will always wonder what would have happened if you hadn't."

Trista nodded in agreement, gently running a hand up and down Rose's velvet covered back. "Mortals say that life is short all of the time. You should enjoy this time that you have with him. He will still love you after you tell him that you are a senshi."

She looked up, her red rimmed eyes looking a bit lost. "Do you really think so?"

I moved over to the door, putting a hand to the knob, knowing that I would find the very upset Count of Waywridge on the other side even if it had gone quiet. "There is only one way to find out."

She looked at the door for a long time and I could tell that she was weighing her options. Finally she nodded her head, wiping her face as she tried to get rid of the traces of her tears. "Alright, I will tell him." She blushed slightly. "I love him. I'm willing to risk everything for him."

I smiled softly, encouragingly at her as I opened the door, to find a disheveled, very upset Allen looking back at me. His eyes were desperate as he took a hold of my shoulders, pleading with me. "I have to see her. I have to apologize. I pushed her too fast. I can't loose her, Angel. Please, let me see her."

I smiled softly, gently quieting him by holding up a finger to my lips and then pointed over to Rose, who stood quietly, watching her love with almost as desperate eyes as him. He rushed to her, gathering her in his arms as Trista and I left the room quietly to give them some privacy.

They had talked long into the night. He had taken the news that she was an Immortal senshi over two thousand years old rather well. In fact, he had seemed to know all along that we weren't normal. He was a little upset that we could not have children. As they had called us back into the room, his eyes were still sad over that fact, but it was obvious that Rose meant enough to him that he was willing to not have his own children, in fact by the time he had gone home they were talking about looking into adopting.

Rose looked up at us as she closed the door behind him, beaming brightly. "We are going to be married in two weeks." She bit her lips, shifting a little. "He said that the other Guardians can come to the wedding, but um… he asked me to stay here with him, not to go back. I agreed."

Trista and I were both a little stunned and we stared at her. "You are going to give up being a senshi?"

Rose shook her head. "No, I can never give up being a senshi. It is my duty and I will come if and when I am needed. I just… I…" She looked at both of us, whispering, "He won't live forever and I want to spend every moment with him before I have to give him up to Hades."

I looked at her for a long moment before I nodded. "I would not be doing my job if I did not protect the love that you found with him, both as a senshi and a sister. Alright, I will go inform Rosely of your decision and give the invitation to the wedding to everyone."

Rose hugged me tightly, whispering, "Thank you, Angel."

I nodded as I pulled away slowly, wishing that I could beg her to change her mind since her staying would mean that she was leaving me as well. As she began to talk about what kind of dress she wanted to wear I could not bring myself to break her heart, instead I smiled at her and added my own ideas. I had let others go in my life, including my little sister, who sat quietly next to us; I knew that it was time for me to do the same with Rose. It was time for her to be free and happy and to live the life that she wanted away from the darkness and the seriousness of her powers with the man who was the other half of her soul.

To be continued…
