Chapter 3- Nephlite and Lita:...I Danced With You

Two weeks have gone by since Darien's and Serena's time-travel to the
Silver Millennium.

Lita has finished baking some cookies to take to home economics
class. "Mmmm! These smell delicious!" Picking one up, she took a
bite. "Yummy! They taste delicious, too."
Finishing the cookie, she carried the cookie tray to an open window
in her apartment. Then she walked over to the sofa and plopped down.
"I think I'll take a little snooze before I decorate them." Closing
her eyes, she relaxed into the soft cushions.

In another part of Tokyo, a man with thick, long brown hair was
teaching in a dance school. Clapping his hands, Neil signaled for his
students to stop their dancing. "All right, everyone! That was
excellent! I'll see you all next week."
Saying or waving goodbye to their teacher, the students filed out of
the classroom. Neil walked over to a cooler box and fished out a
soda. Leaning back against a mirror wall, he slid down to sit on the
floor. Opening the can, he took a swig and wiped his forehead with
the ice cold can. "Whew! What a day! I think I'll take a rest, then
I'll hit the showers." Setting the can down next to him, Neil leaned
his head back against the wall and closed his eyes.

DREAM BEGINS

Romantic music was playing. A lady dressed in a strapless satin green
gown placed her hand into the hand of a man dressed in a dark blue
uniform. Swirling her out onto the dance floor, he pulled her close
to him and placed his other hand at the back of her waist. She
placed her other hand onto his shoulder. They gave each other a kiss
and proceeded to glide and waltz across the floor. She stared into
his clear blue eyes, and he stared into her pure green ones. They
started to spin as they danced and continued spinning, faster and
faster until...

DREAM ENDS

Lita woke with a start, panting. 'I'm dreaming again,' she thought,
sitting up. 'It's been a week.' Then she smiled, wistfully. 'What a
hunk! Those eyes- so clear and blue. And that long brown hair! I
wonder who he is. I feel as if I knew him.'

Neil woke, hitting his head on the wall. "OW!" he growled, rubbing
his head. Yet he forgot the pain as he stood up and headed for the
showers. 'That dream again,' he thought. 'For the past week. Who is
that girl. So beautiful with fair brown hair and lovely green eyes. I
met her before but where?'

As she walked to the kitchen to get the cookies, Lita felt her
Jupiter symbol glow on her forehead. "Huh? What's going on?"
Then she gasped, remembering that this happened to Raye and how she
found her true love with the help of...
Rushing to the phone, Lita dialed Serena's house.

Fresh from his shower, Neil was finishing getting dressed when he
heard a humming from his gym bag. Looking in, he was shocked to see
a certain object glowing. He reached in and pulled out a piece of
stone. "My nephlite gem," he wondered, then looking around to make
sure he was alone. "It's glowing. The last time this happened was..."
He broke off, remembering a nightmare he had five years ago. He was
sitting under a tree with a young school girl, tending his wound with
a strip of her PJ's. "I must have saved her from something if I got a
wound in order to protect her." Smiling, he remembered a conversation
about chocolate parfait and holidays. He and the girl started
laughing.

Neil then frowned when he remembered three creatures led by a man in
a gray uniform attacked them. He swore he knew that brownish blond-
haired guy from somewhere. Fortunately, three girls in sailor suits
arrived and destroyed the creatures, but not before one of them
struck him with wooden spears. As his life was slowly ending, he
remembered the way the young school girl cried, begging him not to
leave her.

Blinking, Neil looked at his stone. "This was floating before me when
I woke up. But what does this have to with the girl in my recent
dreams? She was tall and a brunette. The school girl was short and
had red hair."
Walking out of the school building, Neil noticed his stone's humming
grow louder as he walked in a certain direction. He pointed his stone
in another direction, and the humming grew fainter. 'It's acting like
a monitoring device!' he thought. 'Maybe I will find one of the girls
in my dreams.' He started walking.

Serena and Lita were walking to the area where a certain Negaverse
general died in the arms of Serena's friend, Molly. As they stood
over the spot where he disappeared, there was silence for a while.
Lita finally asked, "So, what happened after he died?"
"You came, Lita, and were reawakened as Sailor Jupiter," Serena said,
softly.
Sighing, Lita took out her Jupiter Crystal Wand and stared at it.
"I've never met this evil Nephlite. I guess I'm lucky because I
didn't see the horrible things he did."
"There was some good in him because he saved Molly," Serena said.
"Maybe some good of the real Nephlite rubbed off on him when he was
created." Looking closer at Lita's tense face, Serena figured out
why. Placing a hand on her shoulder, she said, reassuringly, "It was
the Negaverse Nephlite who cared for Molly, not the real one."

After a moment of silence, Lita nodded. "I know that now. Um, Serena,
can I be alone for a while? I need to concentrate on finding the
answers here."
Nodding, Serena turned and walked off. Lita then raised her wand and
proclaimed, "Jupiter Crystal Power, Make Up!" After she became Super
Sailor Jupiter, she held up the wand and closed her eyes. Focusing
hard, she began to see a vision: a man with long, brown hair rescuing
a short red head in PJ's from three creatures...

Darien was heading toward the park where Serena asked him by phone to
meet her and Lita. Then he noticed a man standing in front of the
abandoned building, Rag Time. As he came closer, Darien noticed that
he had a glowing object in his hand. Neil sensed that he was being
watched and quickly turned to face the observer. Darien's eyes
widened as he recognized him. Smiling, he nodded at Neil.
"Hello, Nephlite, good to see you again."
Neil narrowed his eyes at the stranger before him. "I think you got
the wrong man. My name is Neil, not Nephlite."
"No," replied Darien. "I got the right man."
Wanting to disagree, Neil was going to deny again but stopped.
Somehow he knew this man was telling the truth.

"Why are you here?" Darien asked. Neil sighed loudly, and shrugged.
"It's this building," he responded. "It was in a dream I had. A young
girl was trapped in there with some creatures. I rescued her, and
then I carried her..."
"To a park where she tended your wound." Darien finished.
Appalled that this man knew his dream, Neil confronted him. "How did
you know that? Who are you?"
Darien smiled. "If you want the answers, follow me. I'm meeting
someone." He started off. "By the way, I'm Darien."
Neil wasn't sure about all this, but, when his nephlite stone started
pulsing in Darien's direction, he ran to catch up.

As they reached the park entrance, Serena was coming out. "Serena!"
Darien called out. Smiling, she flew into his arms. Watching the
couple embrace, Neil had the sense that he met these two before.
Noticing him, Serena broke the embrace from Darien and smiled. "It's
been a long time, Nephlite."
Frowning, Neil shook his head. "I'm sorry, but we've never met. My
name is Neil."
"In this present time, you are," Serena agreed. "But, a thousand
years ago in the Silver Millennium, you were General Nephlite to
Prince Darien of Earth." Taking out her Silver Crystal, she
transformed herself and her love into Princess Serena and Prince
Darien. Then she changed Neil's clothes into a dark blue uniform of
a general.

Neil was in shocked silence the whole time since the Silver Crystal
worked its power. Finally, he snapped out of it and looked at the
clothes he was wearing. It seemed so familiar wearing it. Putting a
hand to his head as if in weary, he said, "I-uh-I, I'm so confused."
Serena then pointed to the park. "Go. She's waiting for you."
"Who?"
"When you see her, you'll know."
"And you'll find your answers," Darien added.
Arching his eyebrow, Neil thought they were crazy, but he knew that
they were not lying. As he entered the park, his stone began to
pulse. He continued on.

Jupiter's tears fell down her cheeks as the vision ended. 'Poor
Molly,' she thought. 'At least she has Melvin now. And she's happy.'
Then something occurred to her. "Oh," she said, aloud. "If the real
Nephlite sees her now, will he fall for her? Will he have the same
feelings as the evil one did?"
"I doubt that," a voice said behind her. Jupiter whirled around and
gasped. 'It's him, from my dreams!' she thought, her heart pounding.
"How can you be sure?" she asked.
Neil stared at the pretty girl who had haunted his dreams for the
past week. 'It's her,' he thought. "Because I fell for you in my
dreams, Sailor Jupiter. I'm Neil. Forgive me for startling you, but I
have a feeling that we met before."
Jupiter couldn't believe that this handsome dream hunk was standing
before her. "If we had, then why don't I remember?"
As if to answer that question, Jupiter's Crystal Wand and Neil's
nephlite stone flew out of their hands, met above them and began to
encircle within one another. A glow within began to grow brighter and
brighter until there was a bursting flash of light.

Jupiter and Neil found themselves in a ballroom where many people are
dancing. "Where are we?" asked Neil, amazed.
"We've traveled to the Silver Millennium's past, just like Serena and
Darien did!" Jupiter exclaimed in wonderment. "Look!" She pointed to
the royal couple dancing.
"Can we talk to them?" Neil started forward, but Jupiter stopped him.
"We can't because they won't hear or see us." Then she pointed at a
familiar couple. "This also happened to Raye and Jedite, but we call
him Jared."
'Jedite? I've heard that name before,' Neil thought, then he saw
someone from his recent dreams. Taking Jupiter's arm with one hand,
pointed with the other. "Jupiter, over there by the balcony doors.
It's you."
They saw Princess Lita, wearing a satin green princess gown and
looking out at the starry sky through the balcony windows. Jupiter
and Neil noticed that they could see the Earth outside.
"We're on the moon," Neil observed, and began remembering. "I know
what's going to happen. This is the night when..."
"...we had our first dance together," gasped Jupiter, as she pointed to
General Nephlite in a dark, blue uniform, making his way through the
dance floor right to where Princess Lita was standing.

Princess Lita turned to stare at the waltzing couples and sighed. 'So
lucky,' she thought, sadly. 'Everyone has someone, except for me. Oh,
well, it's not like every guy is lined up to...'
She then noticed and recognized one of Prince Darien's Earth Generals
approaching her. 'General Nephlite! What a hunk! Is he really coming
towards me?' Her heart beat rapidly.
'I'm actually going to meet her,' thought Nephlite, excitedly. 'I
hope she'll dance with me.' He had seen her as Sailor Jupiter, and,
although everyone said she was a little tomboyish, he believed that
she was more than that. And he was right. 'So beautiful!' he thought,
his heart thumping fast.
As he stood in front of her, Nephlite looked into her green eyes and
asked, "May I have this dance, please?"
Letting out a small gasp of disbelief, Lita stared back into his blue
eyes. "I would love to," she answered, taking his offered hand.
Swirling onto the dance floor, they waltzed to the lovely music
playing.
'How graceful she is,' he thought, holding her close.
'How gentle he is,' she thought, snuggling closer to him.
Holding each other at that moment, they knew...

An explosion of light occurred. Lita and Neil found themselves back
in the park in their normal clothes. "I remember now," Lita began.
"You were very persistent after that night. You wanted to be with me
at every chance you got."
Chuckling, Neil pocketed his hands. "You didn't want to believe I
took you seriously just because they said you were very tomboyish. I
had quite a time, convincing you how much you meant to me."
"You never gave up until you won me over with these." She touched her
pink rose earrings. "And you said I was beautiful while you were
putting them on me, then you said..." She trailed off, blushing.
"I loved you, and I kissed you." Stepping forward, he cupped her face
with his hands and kissed her deeply. Lita placed her hands on his
shoulders to receive more. When they broke apart, she smiled at him.
"I loved you, too."
Taking her hands, Neil mumbled, "I know this sounds silly, but I feel
like dancing right now."
Lita giggled. "Me, too."
Holding out his hand to her, Neil bowed. Curtseying, Lita took it and
Was swept into his arms. Listening to the beat of their hearts, they
danced celebrating their rediscovered love for each other.
