THE FIRST TIME EVER...

Chapter 4- Zoicite and Amy:...I Held Your Hand

Three weeks have past since Darien's and Serena's time travel trip to
the Silver Millennium.

Sitting in her bed, Amy was reading her medical book. She looked at
her clock and saw that it was very late. She closed her book and set
it on her nightstand. She turned off her small lamp and settled
against her pillow, placing her hands behind her head. 'Serena told
me to slow down on studying and start concentrating on my love life.'
Sighing loudly, she thought, 'What love life? I mean, there was that
time with Greg, and Taiki is gone with the Starlights...'
Making a sad face, she turned on her side and snuggled deeper into
the covers. 'Let's face it. No guy would take me seriously because
I'm a brain, not a popular person.'
Closing her eyes, she drifted off to sleep.

In another part of Tokyo, a fashion show was ending. Zander,
the famous designer, was holding a press conference. When he was
done, the audience clapped and cheered, mostly from the female
section. Zander waved as he exited from the stage. Going straight to
his dressing room, he flopped into a chair, exhausted. 'What a
night!' he thought, breathing hard. Then he smiled to himself.
'Another successful show! Those new fall outfits will be the fad by
the end of this year.' Then he frowned. 'Although I wish the press
would ask me more serious questions. I mean, they always want to know
if I'm dating one of the models."
Looking at himself at a mirror, Zander shook his head. 'I'd rather
speak what's on my mind. The fashion show, for instance. It was
created in order to make donations to save the rainforests. When I
tried to make an opening conversation, the press drowned me out with
personal questions on my life.
Leaning back in his chair, he felt his eyes grow heavy. 'Let's face
it. They're only interested in my social life, not my mind.' Yawning,
he got comfortable. 'So tired. I'm gonna rest a while before I go
back out there.' Closing his eyes, he drifted off.

DREAM BEGINS

A young lady with short blue hair was sitting on a marble white stone
bench, looking at a fountain sprouting water in lovely ever-changing
designs. Sensing someone approaching her, she turned to her left. A
red-golden haired man had stopped at her side and was offering her
his hand as if seeking permission. Nodding in acceptance, the lady
places her hand in his. The man gently helps the lady stand up. As
they faced each other, he softly squeezes her hand and she squeezes
in return. Pulling her gently toward him, he leans down to kiss her.
As his lips touch hers...

DREAM ENDS

With a start, Amy woke up, sitting upright. 'Oh, my!' she thought,
slapping a hand to her forehead. Then she felt a sensation and knew
that it was her Mercury symbol glowing. Realizing that this happened
to Raye and Lita, Amy knew what was going to happen. She will meet
her one true love. With growing shock, she knew who it was. Zoicite!
'But I don't understand,' she thought. 'If Serena and Darien's theory
was correct, then the Zoicite whom we encountered five years ago was
a clone. But he was involved with Malachite!'
Leaning against her pillows, Amy took a deep breath and let it out.
'I wonder if the original Zoicite had any connection with the
original Malachite in the Silver Millennium?' After a long moment of
reflection, she laid back down to go to sleep, deciding to call
Serena tomorrow and have a talk with her.

Zander woke, nearly falling off the chair. "What a dream!" he
wondered. "Who is the girl? She is certainly somebody I know, but I
don't know where or when." Then he heard a humming sound coming from
inside his tuxedo jacket. He reached in and pulled out the object
that was not only humming but glowing as well. "My zoicite stone," he
murmured. "It's reacting again."
He remembered the last time it reacted five years ago. He had a dream
that was so mysterious. He was standing next to a man with shocking
white long hair before an evil-looking woman with a crown. The woman
was furious at him and blasted a beam at him, knocking him down. He
saw the look of horror on the other man's face as he fell down. The
scene changed with Zander lying on a stone platform and the man with
white hair, bending over him, apologizing and mourning. 'I must be
dying,' thought Zander as he felt the man hold and hugged him. Then
Zander disappeared in a flurry of pink flower petals.
Looking at the stone in his hand, Zander said, "This stone appeared
in front of my chest after I woke up from that dream." Placing his
chin in his hand, finger over lip, he thought hard. "What does this
have to do with my recent dream?" He left the dressing room, and the
stone hummed louder. "It's acting like a tracing monitor!" he
exclaimed, astonished. "If I use this stone, I'll find out what my
dreams are all about." Satisfied, he nodded to himself. "Tomorrow,
I'll find the answers."

At the Starlight Tower, Serena, Darien, and Amy were standing in
front of the building. "This was where you blasted the evil Zoicite
with your Crescent Wand after you became the Moon Princess," Amy
reminisced.
Serena nodded. "Then Malachite came and took him and Darien away from
what you girls told me. How horrible it was." Making a sad face,
Serena reflected when a brainwashed Darien tried to steal her
Imperium Crystal. Darien sensed what she was thinking and placed an
arm around her. 'It's in the past,' he thought, as if reading her
mind. 'You saved me, and I'm here.' Serena looked up at him and
smiled, feeling better. Then she turned to Amy. "Are you sure?"
Amy shrugged. "I have to know what the real Zoicite was like. I guess
he'll meet me there, won't he?" Serena and Darien nodded. Then Amy
lifted her Crystal Wand in the air. "Mercury Crystal Power, Make Up!"
After becoming Super Sailor Mercury, she said, "I'm ready."
Darien and Serena changed into their royal selves of the Silver
Millennium. With the Silver Crystal in their hands, they formed a
glowing orb around Mercury, and she disappeared in a flash of light.

Zander was nearing the Starlight Tower with his humming zoicite stone
which began to pulse like a beating drum. As he hurried, he suddenly
saw a flash of light, but not before he caught a glimpse of a Sailor
Scout with blue hair. 'Blue hair!' he thought, breaking into a run.
He stopped when she disappeared, and in front of him stood a couple
in royal clothing. "Who are you?" he asked, in awe.
"I am Princess Serena of the Moon," said the blonde girl, smiling at
him. "Hello, Zoicite."
"The moon? Zoicite? What's this all about?"
The man with black hair spoke, "I know you're confused, but that was
your name in the Silver Millennium. You were one of my Generals of
Earth. I am Prince Darien."
Zander put up his hands as if to hold them off. "Wait a minute, wait
a minute! I don't know what's happening, but my name is Zander, and
I'm not a general. I'm a fashion designer, and I came here to-"
"Find out if the girl in your dreams was the one you just saw vanish
before your eyes?" Serena finished.
Taken aback, Zander blinked. "How did you know she was in my dreams?"
"If you want to know, we'll send you to her," Darien offered.
"Do you trust us?" Serena asked.
Zander had never encountered anything like this in his life. Yet he
knew that this was really happening, and he wanted to know more.
Nodding, Zander said, "I do."
The royal couple then raised the Silver Crystal in their hands and
transformed a surprised Zander into his blue general uniform. "Hey!
What the-" He never finished when the couple flashed a glowing orb
around him, and he disappeared.

Mercury found herself in a large, dark cavernous room. Spotting a low
stone platform in the room's center, she walked over to it. Leaning
down, she placed her hand on the platform. Her crystal wand glowed,
and a vision appeared before her, showing what happened to the evil
Zoicite after the evil Malachite took him and Darien away.

Zander appeared in the room and looked around. Then he noticed a
figure in the middle of the room. As he observed her very closely,
his eyes widened. Although her back was facing him, he recognized her
blue hair. 'The girl from my dreams!' he thought. 'And she's a
Sailor Scout!' She was leaning over, touching a low stone platform.
Curious to see her face to face, he walked towards her.

When Mercury's vision ended, she slowly shook her head. "I don't
approve of violence, but maybe that Zoicite got what he deserved."
Hugging herself, she sighed. "I just hope the original Zoicite living
today is not as vindictive and heartless as that evil one was."
A voice behind her replied, "I'm not."
Whirling around, Mercury gasped as she faced the intruder. Zoicite!
'But wait,' she thought as she inspected him more closely. 'It's not
the evil one. He looks harmless, and his face looks gentle and kind.'
"Don't' be frightened. I won't hurt you." Zander held up his zoicite
stone. "This gem led me to Starlight Tower. My name is Zander. Your
friends, Serena and Darien, transported me here."
Mercury relaxed. "I guess it's true, then. You and I must have been
involved a long time ago. However, I find it hard to believe."
"Why?" Zander asked.
Mercury folded her hands behind her back and bent her head down.
"Well, first of all, the evil Zoicite had a relationship with a
general named Malachite. Do you know someone by that name?"
Turning his head to one side, Zander thought for a moment. "The name
is familiar, but I don't know anyone with that name."
Mercury continued, "Then there's this fact that I'm a ordinary girl
who studies a lot. You look like the kind of guy who goes out with
popular girls. Why would you be interested in me?"
Zander then lifted his head, realizing something. "You know, I think
we had a conversation like this before!"
"We had?" Frowning, Mercury lifted her head to look at him. "From
long ago?"
"Yes!" He snapped his fingers. "I remember now! I was an Earth
General, and I fell in love with you."
"Me?" Mercury couldn't believe it, yet she knew he was right. At that
moment, her Crystal Wand and his stone floated from their hands. They
met and started to encircle with one another until there was a glow
and a flash of light.

Appearing in a large hallway, Zander and Mercury noticed beautiful,
small white statue figures on one side of the hall and large, balcony
windows on the other. The view at the windows showed lovely gardens
and a fountain gushing clear, blue water.
"We're on the moon!" Mercury gasped in wonderment. "I remember that
this is one of my favorite places to read quietly. We're in the
palace of the Moon Kingdom in the Silver Millennium.!"
Zander pointed to one of the balconies. "Look! There you are, sitting
on a bench."
They watched Princess Amy, reading a book as she sat. Then there was
a commotion as a group of people enter the hall. It was a menagerie
of ladies-in-waiting surrounding a red-golden haired man in uniform.
Princess Amy raised her head to look at the chattering group and
recognized the man as General Zoicite of Earth. Making a sad face,
she turned back to her book and tried to resume her reading. The
group passed Mercury and Zander as if they weren't there. "Hey, what
gives?" Zander asked.
"This is what happened to Serena and Darien and my two friends, Raye
and Lita," Mercury explained. "No one can see or hear us."
Zander then observed General Zoicite noticing Princess Amy, and some
thing clicked in his mind. "Mercury, I remember what will happen
here. I was going to ask you out..."
"...on our first date," she finished saying.

Spotting Princess Amy at one of the balcony windows, Zoicite smiled
happily. He had been looking for her, but the ladies with him kept
him from seeking her out. He noticed her looking up at him and then
returning to her book. Clearing his throat, he politely asked the
women to excuse him so that he may speak to Amy. The girls looked at
him, then at Amy. Giggling, they scurried off.
Frowning at their retreat, Zoicite was annoyed that they could not
accept the fact that he, a General and popular with women, would want
to be sociable with the timid and quiet princess of Mercury. 'Who
cares what they think?' he thought, as he approached her. 'I don't'

Hearing footsteps coming towards her, Amy looked up and gasped, "Oh!"
General Zoicite stood before her. Taking a deep breath, he began,
"Good day, Princess."
"Good day, General."
"You look very lovely, today."
'Me, lovely?' she thought, surprised. "Um, thank you."
"Uh, Princess Amy, I know this is short notice, but would you
accompany me to the ball tonight?"
Amy's mouth dropped open, and she dropped her book. Kneeling, Zoicite
picked it up and gave it to her. Then he grasped her hands with his.
"Princess Amy, I hope you say yes. I think you're very special, and I
want us to get to know each other."
Amy smiled and Zoicite smiled back. Squeezing his hands, she replied,
"Yes."
At that moment, they knew...

An explosion of light occurred, and they were back in the cavernous
room. Mercury let out a deep sigh. "After our first date, we were the
gossip on the moon. What was brainy Amy doing with charming Zoicite?"
Zander chuckled. "On the Earth, they couldn't understand why pretty
boy Zoicite was hanging out with serious Amy. And I remember my best
friend Malachite telling me to go with my heart. I did. I didn't want
to be alone. I wanted to be with you, the one I love."
"I didn't want to be alone anymore either," Mercury said. "I wanted
to with the one I...love." She placed her hands to her lips as if she
couldn't believe she said that. Zander reached over, took her hands,
and kissed them. Then he pulled her to him and kissed her deeply.
When the kiss ended, they nodded in silent agreement and took out
their wand and stone. Holding hands and closing their eyes, they
concentrated.

They found themselves alone and back in their normal clothers when
they appeared in front of Starlight Tower. "I would like to meet my
old friends again," said Zander. "But first, I like to go out with
you again." He shifted his feet nervously. "So, uh, would you go out
with me?"
"I'd love to," Amy said, breathlessly. "Do you like carnivals?"
"Yeah, I do."
"There's one downtown. We could go there now."
"Great." Smiling, he held his hand out, and she took it, also smiling.
They walked off down the street.
