True Love is Not Cliche: Mirai Trunks and Mina

Part 8: Trunks vs. Arctica

Goku arrived up at Korin's tower only to find that Korin didn't have a crop of senzu beans ready. 'Man, I've got to get her to Bulma or she's not going to make it' thought Goku. He thanked Korin anyway, and teleported to CC. "Bulma! I need to get her in the regeneration tank quickly or she's not going to make it!" called Goku. "Oh my Mina! Come to the lab Goku," she said. Bulma and Goku rushed to the lab. Bulma quickly filled the tank with the solution water and submerged Mina in it placing the breathing mask over her mouth. "Goku, what happened out there?" asked Bulma. Goku quickly explained how Trunks had lost, and then how Arctica had tried to kill Mina, and how Trunks had transformed to a new power level. Bulma was relieved to hear that everyone was still alive. "Gotta go see how everything's going Bulma, bye," he replied as he teleported back to the battlefield.

"Oh Vegeta, Trunks, please be careful. I just got you back Vegeta, and I couldn't bare to lose you again," sighed Bulma

Goku arrived back at the battlefield and was immediately bombarded with questions from the scouts. He assured them that Mina was recovering and that she was going to be fine. Trunks glanced over at Goku. Goku winked at him and Trunks smiled inwardly.

Trunks turned his attention back to Arctica. Trunks continued to fight Arctica fiercely. They appeared to be matched, but what Arctica didn't know was that it was Trunks who was toying with her this time. 'It's time to end this fight' thought Trunks. He increased his speed and began to pummel the alien. His punches and kicks began to devastate the tyrant's body. Arctica knew she had to think of something fast or she was toast.

Vegeta stared at his son and smirked. His son had surpassed him in strength as well as Kakarot, and Kakarot's brat. The strongest saiyan in the universe was of royal blood. 'The way it should be' though Vegeta. Although he would never admit it, he was very proud of Trunks.

Arctica began building for a huge attack. Her plan was to hurl it at the super saiyan, and then let it sink into the crust of the earth, and eventually having it make it's way to the core. She would take out the super saiyan and earth with one attack. The energy ball grew enormous in size.

'Won't these baka changelings ever learn, that attack is not going to be enough to destroy me. And I won't let it sink into the earth like she wants it too.' he thought. Trunks smirked as he positioned himself to receive the attack. He hovered directly above Arctica's ship, but Arctica was too blinded by raw power to notice what she was about to do. Arctica yelled out as she hurled the gigantic energy sphere at Trunks. "Take this you bastard saiyan!" she screamed. Trunks' smirk grew wider into a trademark Vegeta smirk. At the last second, Trunks blurred out from under the blast. The energy ball landed directly on Arctica's ship totally destroying it.

Arctica's mouth dropped open at the realization of what she had just done. She was snapped from her reverie at the sound of spiteful laughter. Trunks laughed at her stupidity. "Awe, Was that your ship? Sorry bout that," he said with dripping sarcasm. Arctica growled. "You little bastard monkey!" she screamed in rage as she began releasing sporadic ki blasts. Trunks knew she was done now, she was no longer a challenge to him. Although, he was thoroughly enjoying her idiocy, he knew he needed to end this now. He couldn't let himself make the same mistakes as his father and Gohan had done in the past. That was one thing Trunks had learned. Eliminate the enemy as swiftly as possible. Trunks decided it was time to unleash a new attack he had been working on. He was now strong enough to handle it and it would be more than enough to destroy Arctica. Trunks began powering up for the new attack. He began to flash on and off with blinding white light. He began to draw energy from the sun. Heat began to radiate from him as a bright white ki sphere began to form between his hands. The sphere grew rather large, and Arctica could only look on in frozen fear. Trunks finished gathering the ki he needed and smirked saiyan style. "This is for Mina!" he yelled. "Super Burning Eclipse!" he called out as he thrusted the burning ki at Arctica. The sphere made a direct hit on the alien. It burned away the white flesh and engulfed her in flames. Arctica screamed out in pain. Trunks was still controlling the energy and finally twisted his hands together making the ki explode in flames and smoke. A hush fell on the scouts and saiyans, as they transfixed their eyes on the explosion waiting for the smoke to clear and reveal the verdict. The smoke cleared, and revealed ashes falling to the ground. "He did it," stated Goku calmly. "Yeah! all right Trunks!" called Gohan. The scouts cheered and Vegeta smiled. Yes he smiled, not smirked, smiled! Miracles happen every day you know. Trunks let out a relieved sigh as he descended out of super saiyan.

'I knew you could do it Trunks,' said someone inside his head. 'Mina?' he thought. 'Yeah, it's me Trunks. I'm not sure how I'm talking to you, but somehow I am, and I can hear your thoughts too,' she replied. 'I heard my father talking about this once. It's a bond. We can talk to each other telepathically, and hear each other's thoughts. One of us can't live without the other,' Trunks told her. 'Well, you better get home if I can't live without you. Hopefully, I'll get to come out of this dumb tank soon,' she said as she started to ramble on in his head. Trunks chuckled and shook his head.

"Let's go home guys," he told everyone. Everyone nodded happily and gathered in a circle. Goku put two fingers to his forehead and teleported everyone to CC.

They all arrived in the backyard of CC a moment later. Bulma rushed out to them. "Oh Trunks! Are you okay? You don't look so good," worried Bulma. "Don't worry mom, I'm fine, nothing an hour in the regen. tank won't take care of," he told her. "No need for that. I forgot that I stored a bag of senzu beans away for the times that you decided to go challenge the androids," she said as she handed him one and started passing them around to the others. "Thanks mom," he replied as he ate the bean. His wounds were healed and his energy restored. Trunks then rushed off for the lab.

Bulma gave Vegeta a senzu, and hugged him tightly. "Woman! Not in public!" shouted Vegeta. "Oh come on Veggie," she laughed. "Don't call me that stupid name woman," he shouted again. And so began their over due shouting match about anything from nicknames to which is better, Puffs or Kleenex.

Trunks rushed into the lab upon hearing the alarm on the regeneration tank go off. The water began to drain out and the lid opened. Mina opened her eyes. Deep blue eyes met clear blue ones. Mina removed the mask as Trunks lifted her out of the tank. Trunks flared his ki, drying her off. Mina hugged him fiercely, resting her head on his chest and breathing in his musky scent. Trunks buried his face in her golden locks and inhaled her lavender scent that he had etched in his memory. Trunks stroked her cheek with his thumb as he stared deeply into her eyes. He lifted her chin up with his first two fingers, bringing her lips to his. They kissed sweetly, tasting each other's sweet essence. The reluctantly broke the kiss, due to the need to breath.

They heard Bulma squeal with delight and they cringed. "Now that you beat that stupid alien, we can get back to the wedding plans," started Bulma who didn't stop talking there. Vegeta began mumbling about baka women and baka weddings.

'Man, maybe we should elope,' Trunks told Mina telepathically. 'Yeah, no kidding. I think I'm going to like being able to talk to you with my mind' she told him.

'Me too' he told her back. Mina and Trunks left the room, ignoring a ranting Bulma and Vegeta. Bulma and Vegeta eventually quieted down and went to bed like everyone else had. Once again the Z fighters had over come a menacing evil. But evil would never disappear entirely and they would always have to be ready to defend the earth. For now peace was restored to the earth, and the evil had been extinguished.
