[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]

Just to warn ya, it get's kinda gross in this chappie. Ewwwww…>_< As in bloody gross, pervs! This story's gonna be kinda Anita Blake-ish for a few chapters, I reckon. ( Good series, but for mature minds for some…stuff. Ick >_<) Geeze, I gotta stop reading Rebirth and all those other books too…>.> Maybe I should raise the rating due to my gore…? O.o

And REVIEW, I'm not seeing a lot of that! ^^; Do I really suck or something? X.x

Bakunetsumaru awoke the next day in exhaustion. He didn't know why he was; he just was! He groaned while sitting up from his bed, holding his head. He hoped he had a good night's rest, since he didn't recall any dreams last night. Though, he did have a strange feeling he should remember something…

He shrugged. " Well, I better get up," he coached himself, then stood up, and walked out of his room.

***

Later that morning, he went through his morning pre training drills, but with a bit of difficulty. He couldn't stop thinking that he had forgotten something he should know…

He shook his head and sighed. He drew out his swords, and started training with them. He then gave a slight jolt, remembering what it was once he saw his swords; the mysterious guy in the carriage. Why the swords reminded him of that, he didn't know.

" I got to tell the others about him…" He sheathed his swords, then went to Shute's house.

*

" So, that's the story…" Baku muttered while he and his friends sat outside on the grass.

" …That reminds me of Vampire Hunter D…" Shute murmured.

" V-vampire hunter?" Baku repeated in a squeak.

" Oh, right. You have a thing about the undead and dead, don't ya?" Baku nodded.

" Scary…" Baku shivered. Captain nodded. " Indeed. I suggest you stay near here and the base, so we can keep an eye on you," he suggested.

" What?! But what about Kikumon!?" Baku exclaimed while standing up.

" Well, that guy said to stay away, so stay away from her." Baku looked at the human. " But it was only for that night, Shute. That doesn't mean she'll spring a trap on me the next time!"

" Actually, there is a 97% chance that she will," Captain stated. Baku groaned. " But the base isn't safe! I told you, he somehow got in!"

" Well…" Shute thought for a moment. " Maybe it was someone from the base?" Baku shook his head.

" No, his voice does not match anyone's at the base." Captain shrugged.

" Well, just don't go anywhere without an escort."

Baku looked at Captain. " What?!"

" You heard me."

" B-but, that's …I mean, I'm a samurai! I do not need an escort like a maiden does!" he huffed. Captain's eyes narrowed dangerously, making Baku flinch.

" You will not go anywhere outside your room without an escort. That's an order," Captain stated with an authorial firmness. Captain was the leader, and he DID have the last say in things…

" Ohhhhh," Baku moaned. " Fine!" He then crossed his arms angrily. Shute chuckled at Baku's pouting.

" Oh, lighten up," Shute said while leaning his arms on his knees. " It's not the end of the world!"

Baku ignored Shute and kept pouting, grumbling something intelligible every now and then. Captain shook his head with a sigh.

*

Baku walked out of Shute's kitchen with an armful of rice balls happily. He then saw Captain reading a book on the couch, while Shute was spinning around in circles as fast as he could. Baku sweatdroped.

" Uh…Captain?" Captain looked up from his book. " What's wrong with Shute?"

" He's just wearing out some sugar he ate…" Captain said nonchalantly. Baku laughed.

" This is the third time this week! Where did all this sugar come from, anyway?" Baku asked while sitting down next to Captain.

" His mother," Captain answered, returning to his book. Baku looked at the cover, and it was called ` The Tale of Two Cities.' Baku had never head of that book. " There was a candy sale at the store…" Baku sweated again.

" Geeze…that's not cool."

" Mmm, hmmm," Captain hummed while he read. Baku grabbed the remote from the coffee table, then glanced at Shute.

" Good thing I don't get hyper easily…" he muttered, then turned the TV on.

" In today's news, three young women were killed last night. All three of them had no relation to the other, except they all were coming home from work late." Baku blinked while Shute stopped spinning, and Captain shot his head up.

" It is uncertain how they died, but there was barely any blood left in them when the bodies were found, and there were two puncture holes in their necks…" Baku changed the channel when they showed a picture of one of the women, with long, blonde hair with her eyes opened wide in dead horror, her mouth opened slightly, and two holes in her neck, where some dried blood was smeared about.

Shute shivered. " God! That's scary." He then gave a yelp as he thought of something. " Vampires of the middle ages used to ride in mysterious carriages!!"

" H-how do you know this?" Baku asked.

" A friend of mine at school is a demonologist at training," Shute said. " So she knows some stuff about vampires and ghouls."

Captain blinked. " …Remind me to ask who you spend time with at school, later on…" Baku shivered at the thought of Drain being a vampire.

" But who would it be? And how would they know me?!" Shute went to the wall with the light switches. " Maybe…" He turned out the lights.

" He's out to drink your blood!!"

Baku screamed in the dark while flailing his arms around in horror. Shute turned the lights back on, and chuckled.

" Relax! I was kidding!" Baku stopped screaming, then clutched at his heart. " Shute! You know how I feel about the dead!!" he snapped.

" But it could be a accurate assumption," Captain said while putting his book down.

" Then why didn't he kill me then?"

" Some vampires play with their food," Shute said. Baku twitched.

" What a lovely thought," Baku droned in sarcasm, " Being someone's food!"

Captain stood up, then headed to the door.

" Where are ya going?" Shute asked. Captain stopped and looked at him. " I'm going to ask Haro for special permission to look at those bodies," he said.

" Why?" Baku asked. " They may have some sort of clue to that carriage rider. If he is a vampire, we must know immediately. He maybe a threat to Neotopia, after all." He looked at Shute. " Shute, go call that demonologist, and ask her about vampires and their behaviors." Shute nodded. " And Baku, you come with me."

Baku groaned. " Okay…" If there was one thing he hated other than ghosts, they were dead bodies!

**

Bakunetsumaru looked about skeptically. He doubted this would help revile the true identity of that weird guy from last night. " Captain, I really don't think this shall help at all..."

" Every little bit helps, Baku," Captain said simply while the two walked over to the alleyway that was cut off by police tape. There were detectives and police swarming about. Baku never really understood why they have more people then what they need at these things. A police officer spotted them, then walked over to them.

" Sorry, but the public isn't allowed here," he said. Captain held up two ID cards. " We are with the SDG, sir, and we have been granted special clearance to come here," Captain said. The guy frowned at them. " Fine…go on…" Captain nodded, then he and Baku went into the alley.

It was like any other alley, if you didn't pay mind to the many people hustling about for no reason.

" Captain!" Captain and Baku looked over to see a tall man walk towards them. He looked like a computer nerd from the eighties with his large glasses, pale face dotted with freckles framed by messy blonde hair, and slim figure.

" Hello, Detective Mateo." Mateo smiled

" `Been a while since you went into the detective work, eh, Captain?" The Gundam nodded.

Baku blinked, looking at the both of them. " You were a detective, Captain?" he asked. Captain turned to Baku.

" For a while, yes. It was part of my training." He then motioned to Mateo. " And he was my partner."

" Yep, we were the best `till Captain got his training done with…" The detective shrugged. " So anyway, the body's in the back. I got everyone to give you space to check it out."

" Thank you. Have you any thoughts on what might have happened?" Captain asked as the three headed towards the back of the alley.

The man scratched the back of his head. " Not much, just that it sure as hell was a messy murder…maybe her attacker wanted to have a late night snack, or something."

" Mateo, be serious." Mateo laughed. " Alright, alright. A few of the boys think it was vampires, but I don't believe it."

" Then what do you think?" Mateo bit his lower lip.

" Not really sure. It could be a number of things." They then saw a large dark cloth over something. " There you go. Have fun." Captain nodded, then went over to it.

" Oh, uh, Captain?" Captain looked back at the human. " Yes?"

" This one is the first, and, uh, it's quite different from the other ones…" Captain blinked.

" How so?"

" Go take a look for yourself…" Baku swallowed hard. He was getting a really bad feeling about this. He waited back with Mateo as Captain knelt next to the lump under the sheets. He then peeled it aside, and gasped. " What the…?"

Baku's eyes bugged out as he made a little sound of detest. " That's not right!!" He then covered his eyes, feeling sick.

The body was a bloody mess. You wouldn't have thought this slab of meat belonged to a human if the head wasn't there. The body's skin was ripped off, and a big lump of bloody muscle and a human head were the only things there. No arms or legs. Just a female head attached.

Bakunetsumaru took one more glance at it, despite his urge to throw up. He took in what he saw, then fainted. The detective looked down at Bakunetsumaru, then at Captain.

" Uh…Captain?"

" I know; he fainted." Captain studied the body for a moment. " Mind if I move it?"

" Sure, we got all we need from it."

Captain swallowed, then tilted the victim's head back slightly, and brushed back some hair from her face. It wasn't blonde like the woman's on the TV; it was strait, smooth black hair. He moved the hair away from her neck, and saw two little holes there.

" Interesting…" Captain muttered as he looked. " So, tell me a bit more about this one," Captain said while examining the bite marks more.

" Well, she's the only one with blood," Mateo started. " Though, those markings on her neck are there like the others."

" Any sign of her limbs?" Mateo shook his head. " No, no indication of them being here what so ever."

Captain saw that the skin from her neck up was the only bits of skin on this body. All the rest of the skin had been cut off clean, as well as anything that would have given her a female shape. He then saw the caved in chest. There were rib bones poking out of the meat, where a big hole seemed to have formed. He peered in, and didn't see any sign of where the lungs should be.

" Strange…"

" What?"

Captain pulled away at some of the bloody meat to get a better look. The lungs and the heart were missing.

" The vital organs are not there," Captain stated, stating to feel sick himself. Mateo blinked. Captain then activated the com link to Shute's communicator in his helmet.

" Shute, did you find out anything new?"

" Yeah, so what do you need to know?"

" The first body here has been bloodily mutilated. The limbs are missing, as well as the organs."

" Then it wasn't a vampire. They don't eat meat, just blood."

" But I found bite marks…" Shute paused for a moment. " Huh, weird. I'll ask her about that. I'll call you when I know what that is."

" Alright." Captain then looked over at Bakunetsumaru, who was still unconscious.

" So?" Mateo asked. Captain shook his head. " I don't know. Couldn't be a vampire, since Vampires don't eat anything but blood…and to my knowledge, humans cannot do this sort of thing either…"

" What about mechas?" Captain thought for a moment. " No, this was too neatly done for a man, or something manmade to do…It would've taken time to cut all the skin off like that."

" Well, they did have only three hours to do all that…" Mateo paused. " What about the marks?"

" Well, some serial killers like to mark their prey." Mateo sighed.

" So, nothing."

" No, sorry." The man shrugged. " Well, this is kinda tough….er….what about your friend here?" He pointed down at Baku.

" I'll take him home."

" Is he squeamish or something?"

" No, he just doesn't like the dead or anything to do with it." Mateo shrugged. " I still say he's squeamish…"

***

Bakunetsumaru groaned irritably as his eyes blinked open. He sat up and looked around him. He was in his room. Damn, did he faint again? He then remembered the body. He started to feel a bit dizzy. Oh right, he did.

He stood up, and stretched his legs. He yawned, then saw something lying near his window.

Baku swallowed his shriek, then slowly walked towards it. It was another bouquet. He picked up the card.

" Bakunetsumaru,

I bid you to come to the south edge of the forest where the land meets with the cliff hanging over seas.I will answer some questions you may have."

" Oh man…" Baku swallowed. He was told to stay, but he wanted to go. He wanted to ask Drain if he knew anything behind this mess. Wait, did Drain know he wanted to know? Oh man, a psychic stalker! What next, evil potatoes with radioactive sour cream?

Fine, he'd go. But how would he get by everyone unnoticed? He was a samurai, not a ninja! He sighed, then looked at his window.

" Ah, that's it! I'll just go through the window, and climb down." Baku blinked. " Man…this seems kind of cliché…" he shrugged. " Oh well."
