To Go On Living Without You
When I awoke the next morning Mari and Macchi were still lying on top of me. Somehow Macchi had managed to slip one hand inside of my front pocket, so she was coming pretty close to touching my crotch area. The other hand resided in my back pants pocket feeling my nicely toned buttocks. She had also situated herself so that we were sleeping cheek to cheek, her lips inches from mine. Mari was no better, doing the same thing to the other side of my body.
They were both awake, I could tell, and they had been for some time. They had probably been up doing unspeakable things to me in my sleep. “I am awake, you know.” I smirked at them without opening my eyes.
Both the blonde and the redhead jumped, consequently falling out of the bed made for one person. “Master!” They quickly clamored to their feet and awaited their punishment for feeling me up without permission.
“Mari, Macchi. Hand me my shoes.” They did as I asked (more like ordered) without any hesitation what so ever. Once I had gotten my shoes on I started for the tent door; they followed behind me like sheep following a shepherd. I stopped before exiting the tent so that Mari and Macchi were on either side of me, close enough to hit them…or in my case hit on them. I lowered both of my hands and squeezed their butts at the same time, earning scandalized squeals of delight from the both of them. “Next time you want to hit on me, make sure I'm awake to enjoy it, okay?” I smiled seductively down at the two girls.
“Yes, Master!” I gently nudged them out of the tent as they giggled and blushed.
“Idiot womanizer…” I glared at Hao's perverted behavior. “Well, he sure feels better, and I haven't been dead two days yet! `Only you, Ivy' my foot! Hmph!” My glare softened as I noticed Hao's smile fading.
As soon as they no longer could see me, I dropped my false smile. I walked over to the drawer with Ivy's stuff in it, and I took out Ivy's sketchbook. I flipped through to some of the pictures she had done of herself. There was one of her with the wind blowing gently lifting her skirt, one of her sitting upside down in a chair with her hair slightly falling in her face, one of her asleep with her hair flowing out over the pillow, one of her sitting up in the branches of a tree, and one of her leaning up against a door post looking damn sexy. They all looked just like photos of her, and they were the only thing that could make me truly smile. I didn't have any other photographs of her.
`Oh Hao…let go of me…please for your own safety…'
I skimmed though the other pictures and found one of the two of us that I really liked. In the picture I was trying to kiss her, but she was obviously fighting me off for all she was worth. The look on her face, the angles, the shading, they were all so true to life.
I smiled sadly as I returned the sketchbook to its drawer. `God I miss you so much…'
“Please don't say that…You're supposed to be getting over me and moving on with your life.” `It's not supposed to be like this.'
As I was putting the sketchbook away, my eyes fell upon the snapped red hair ties that lay in the bottom of the drawer. I picked up two, tied them together, and used them to tie back my hair in a ponytail. I looked into the mirror at my reflection, and smiled bitterly when I noticed how similar I looked to my younger twin. `Why not?' I shrugged my shoulders and rolled my eyes at myself.
I slipped on a different pair of pants that looked identical to the ones I always wore, but I didn't grab a poncho before heading outside my tent.
“Master Hao?” a small voice from beside me asked.
I looked down to find Opacho standing right outside my tent door. “Yes Opacho?”
“How is Master feeling today? Is his neck doing okay?”
“I'm fine Opacho, thank you for asking. My neck should be fine, but it might leave a scar.” I replied nonchalantly as I walked off to the kitchen area for lunch.
“Opacho is glad. Opacho was very worried about his master. Hao doesn't take good care of himself, and Opacho doesn't want to lose him…Opacho is still very worried.” Opacho walked along beside me, taking three or four strides to my every one.
`Opacho is not the only one who's worried…' I sighed as I watched my suicidal X-fiancée enter the kitchen area.
“I'll be fine; trust me.” I rolled my eyes at his concern even if I did know it was well-placed worry. I was a danger to myself and everyone around me. “Hey Luca, what's for Lunch?”
Luca turned around from the stove and looked skeptically at me “Ah, so you're eating of your own free will today. I'm glad that I won't have to use mouth-to-mouth to shove food into you. Of course, we could always have Mari or Macchi feed you; not that you would mind. Come to think of it, they wouldn't mind either.” Luca turned back around and waited for my rebuttal.
“Can I just have some toast or something?” I ignored his teasing. I figured that Mari and Macchi had told everyone they knew about the little feeding incident the other day; not a lot of girls are lucky enough to be able to say `I made out with Hao-sama while feeding him dinner!'
“You need to eat more than toast, Hao. Are you trying to starve yourself?” Luca didn't look away from his stove. “You need to start taking me seriously and doing what I say.” It was so hard to take Luca seriously when he was wearing a little chef's hat and an apron that said `Kiss The Cook'.
“Whatever you say Luca.” I rolled my eyes as he set down my plate before me. Pancakes, eggs, toast, and diced pears. “How am I supposed to eat all of this?!” I glared up at him.
“That's up to you to figure out.” He pat me on the head like a dog as he smiled broadly.
“Fine, but after this I'm going for a walk.” I picked up a fork and tried to eat at least half of what Luca had set before me; however, my efforts were futile, and I could only manage to down a little more than a fourth of the gross amount of food.
I sat there and stared down the remaining food, glaring at it. Luca was treating me like a child again, and he had said that I wasn't allowed to leave until I cleaned my plate. Most everyone else had already dispersed as I sat there sulking. “Damn them all to Hell. Treating me like a child! I'll show them…” I muttered under my breath.
Suddenly a low whine broke through my concentration on grumbling. I looked around for the source of the sound, but no one was present. I sneaked a look under the table, and almost fell out of my seat when I came face to face with some sort of furry creature. I suppressed a scream as the being emerged from beneath the table. It was an odd looking creature, definitely not human. It was covered from head to toe in fur. White fur with brown and black spots. It had two floppy ears, and a cold, wet nose. It wasn't very big; I could have picked it up and carried it around in my arms with ease. I found myself wondering how this little creature survived out in the harsh desert climate. It wagged its tail fiercely as it looked me over. I stared it down, not sure what to make of the thing. Its tongue lolled out of its mouth, and it looked expectantly at me as if waiting for me to do something. It sat up on its hind legs and held its front paws in the air, and still it waited for me to react. When I continued to do nothing it sat back down and cocked its head to one side at me. It sort of reminded me of Ivy when she was confused.
“AWWWWW!!!!! CUUUUUUUUUUUUUTE!!!!!!! It's a Jack Russell Terrier!!! Kawaiiiiii inu!!!!!!!!!!!” I smacked Gabriel when I saw him rolling his eyes at me.
`Oh, it's a Jack Russell Terrier; a dog…wait where did that come from?' I could have sworn that I had just heard Ivy's voice cooing over the dog. `Oh well…I am going insane after all. It's only natural that I begin to hear voices.'
The dog continued to stare at me, and it was starting to get on my nerves. “How did you get here, and what do you want?” I demanded even though I knew I wouldn't get an understandable answer.
The dog had been very patient up until this point, and he had put up with my stupidity, but now he seemed sick of waiting as he nudged my leg and barked pleadingly looking from my food to me, then back to the food.
“Ohhhhhhhhhhh! You're hungry! God, I'm stupid.” I rolled my eyes at myself yet again. I checked to make sure Luca wasn't watching as I picked up my plate and set it on the ground for the dog. “Here; it's not like I'm going to eat it.” I left the dog to happily enjoy his meal as I teleported to a local pond just on the outskirts of my camping grounds.
I sat down, took my shoes off, and dangled my feet into the water as I contemplated how long it would take me to drown myself.
“Hao, if you even dare…I swear I will hurt you when I get my hands on you!”
“Sooo…I've finally found you, Asakura. I've come to kill you for what you did!” I slowly stood up and smiled at my aggressor.
Just then the picture of Hao faded, and a new picture popped up onto the screen. The picture showed the inside of the Church, and everyone was gathered around my body, watching the professionals take it away.
I could hear the rain still pounding outside the Church walls, and I wondered what time it was and why people were still there.
“It's about an hour or two after your death. We angels are allowed to watch and re-watch any given moment in time since the beginning of time, and we can watch them in any order we wish. There is no time in Heaven.” Gabriel's authoritatively serious tone reminded me scarily of Marco…
“What he means is that we were just watching Hao, right?” Michael tried to clarify what Gabriel meant.
“Yes.” I nodded for him to go on.
“Well now we can watch what other people are doing at the same time.” A warm smile graced the old man's face.
“Oh, I see!” I smiled back as I settled down to watch my brother.
