Chapter 2

While Sonic was pondering thoughts to himself, Shadow had not overseen Sonic's troubling expression.

"He's such a brave friend...how he still manages to keep his life in grasp is beyond me...yet, why is it that this Sonic is a different one then I thought I knew?" Shadow said to himself.

Sonic had not only been thinking of Michael, but also his wife, Amy. He had not seen hide or hair of her for some time leaving him the question of whether she was still alive.

"I know everything is going to be alright, Sonic, they've always turned out perfect in the end!" Shadow said to a depressed Sonic.

"Its just that I don't know what to do...Tails is still in the hospital...I haven't heard from Amy...and my son is dead...you just don't know what its like-"

"Take that back, Sonic!" Shaodw lashed at Sonic.

Sonic looked at Shadow and saw that he had hurt Shadow deeply somehow.

"I-I'm sorry, Shadow! I forgot about..."

"It's ok, Sonic, its ok..." Shadow calmed down after Sonic realized his mistake.

"I forgot about Maria..." Sonic said.

"I know, its fine...I, myself, have had losses..." Shadow said to Sonic.

Sonic knew that this Shadow was a freindly one, and a Shadow he knew he could trust deeply as he motioned for them to move on ahead.

Shadow nodded and the two were off to find a city of any kind so they could rest and try to contact Amy.

As Shadow and Sonic were walking along the dirt path, the same two figures that had been spying on them before were, once again, following the two of them.

"So, the blue one has also lost track of his sweetheart..." Lark said.

"That means that the two of them are alone with no help whatsoever...we must act quickly for we will not get another chance like this!" Frieta sai to Lark as the two of them followed Sonic and Shadow.
