Life...Elevated

Chapter 13

<Nine months later>

Shadow had carried Gina to a local hospital in the city, being careful not to harm the baby in the process. When Shadow had arrived, Gina was just entering labor, so Shadow quickly brought this to the nurses and surgeons attention.

"Lets go!" One of the doctors yelled at the others, putting Gina on a strecther gently, taking her to a back room along with Shadow.

"AHHH...Would you...AHHHHHH!!" Gina screamed from pain. Childbirth was one of the most painful experiences for any female, which was why Shadow was glad he was a guy (no offense to you ladies!).

"Ok, baby, keep on pushing! You're doing great!" Shadow said to an angry female hedgehog.

"WOULD YOU PLEASE GET THIS FUCKIN' CHILD OUT OF ME?!???!?!?!?!??!" Gina shouted at Shadow, collapsing back on the strecther in pain.

"Alright, Gina, keep on pushing! You're doing fantastic!" a nurse said to Gina, trying to get her to calm down.

"Alright, almost got it...! One more push! Ready?" another nurse said to Gina.

"One, two, three! PUSH!!!" another nurse said to Gina, forcing Gina to push as hard as her bodily muscles would allow.

"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!" Gina pushed so hard that the baby came out easily with no problem whatsoever.

After removing the cord, the baby was wrapped in a blanket and handed to Gina to see.

"He's...perfect!" Shadow said, crying with happiness for Gina.

"I know...! He looks like you...!" Gina said, tired from the labor procedure.

"What should you name him?" one of thne nurses asked Shadow and Gina.

"Hmmm...since its a boy, what do you say, Gina?" Shadow asked.

"Well...how about Flash?" Gina asked.

".....I like it!" Shadow gave Gina a hug, looking at their new baby boy hedgehog with pride and happiness.

<Meanwhile, outside Motople>

"Man, that professor is crazy!! He almost got us!!" Frieta said to Lark, exhausted after a long escape from Proffessor Calhoun.

Frieta noticed that Lark's expression hadn't changed since they had arrived back in Motople, after failing to bring Shadow, Calhoun almost killed them himself.

Although it had been given them two weeks, they were given an additional eight months because of Calhouns injury when he fell down the stairs.

However, Lark and Frieta had spent nine months trying to get Shadow tih absolutely no success whatsoever.

Lark looked at the setting sun, the boldness of the colors reminded him slightly of his past.

"Why is it that whenever I look at a sunset...it reminds me...of him...?" Lark asked himself, his thoughts tracing back to his youth.

Frieta had not overlooked Lark's expression, however, and knew that something was troubling him severely.

"Lark? You haven't spoken in an hour and I'm really starting to get worried! Are you still angry at that bitch, Gina?" Frieta assumed that was the cause.

"...No...thats not it, Frieta." Lark said in a monotone style.

Frieta was getting extremely worried for her comrade, she was, infact, his sister, and she knew Lark very well. However, she had never seen Lark like he was now; something was going to go down, and she knew it, but Frieta wasn't sure what it was.

"I just don't understand what this strange...prescene is that I feel...Frieta..." Lark said again in monotone.

"Prescence?" Frieta asked.

"Its...not just any energy either...this is........what is this thing...?" Lark pounded his fists through the grass, growling a bit from frustration.

"What are you talking about, Lark?" Frieta asked, very concerned about the way Lark was speaking.

"I just hope...that this energy signiture isn't who I think it is...thats all I can say, Frieta...thats all I can say..." Lark said with more emotion this time, watching as the sun began to creep slowly below the horizon.

<Meanwhile, back at Amy's hotel>

"Room service!"

Amy opened the door to find not a waiter but Shadow at the door.

"Shadow? What are-!!" Amy was about to ask Shadow why he was here when she notcied the baby in Gina's arms. "OH MY GOSH!!!!!! SONIC!!!! SONIE!!!!!! SUSAN!!!!! COME QUICK!!!!!!!!!!" Amy squealed with glee when she saw the baby boy hedgehog in Gina's arms.

"What is it, Amy?!" Sonie reached the room first followed by Sonic and then Susan.

"Look! Gina had a baby!!" Amy said with tears in her eyes.

"Oh my gosh!!!" Sonie said, tears welling up in his eyes as well.

"Oh, Shadow!!! You have no idea how much this means to me!!!!" Sonic shouted, clinging to Shadow like a teddy bear.

"...Sonic...please...! I can't...<grunt> breath!!" Shadow said to a very happy Sonic.

"Sorry..." Sonic released the grip he had on Shadow and getting a laugh out of it.

"Shadow...this means that...you're a father!" Susan said happily, glad to see that Shadow was now a daddy.

"Well...I must admit...I didn't think I would be a father so soon, you know...but, I do know that there is...something that will last forever!" Shadow said as his ring was glistening in the light.

"You're right! You guys are married!" Sonie said happily, proud of Shadow.

"Well, if only Michael were here to see this as well..." Sonic sadi to himself.

As Sonic finished these thoughts, Michael was heard by Shadow only.

"Oh, but I did see it, dad, and Shadow is going to be a perfect father for Gina! I just know it, because...I too am a father."

Shadow nodded to himself when Michael spoke to him, grinning with anticipation and happiness for Gina and himself as he knew that life was just beginning for him and Gina.
