Chapter 17

<Meanwhile, near the hotel>

"Damn that Lark, I only wanted to help him, but he didn't even care...he didn't care at all!! Thats just who he is and what he is...just an uncaring...unloving...no-good bastard!!" Frieta shouted to herself as she noticed the blackening sky.

Suddenly, a bright flash in the sky startled Frieta as she looked up at the sky, noticing the darksky.

"Shit...I need to find a place to protect me!!!" Frieta shouted in fear as she ran as fast as her legs could carry her, hoping to find a shelter before the storm hit.

Frieta was about to reach the hotel that Amy and the others were in when she nearly got struck by lightning. Frieta screamed as her heart was pounding fster then it ever had before, making Frieta breath very heavily.

"AHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!"

Frieta covered her eyes as the night sky lit up with lightning, and the image of a twister could be seen from the lightning flashes lighting up the sky.

"No!! It can't be!!!" Frieta saw the twisters outline from the lightning and ran as fast as she could, the size of the twister itself would have been enough to make her faint, but she hoped to outrun it.

Frieta ran as best she could, but the storm itself was too much for her body to take as she got struck by lightning, causing her to collapse to the ground.

"L-L-Lark...h-h-h-h-h-h-help...me.memememememeeeeeeeee......... ......." Frieta managed to speak as she then blacked-out.

<Meanwhile, inside the hotel>

"Oh my god!! Did you see that?! That girl just got struck by lightning!!" Sonie said, risking the danger by going to the window.

"Don't even think of it, Sonie!" Sonic said to his son, grabbing him by the waist, knowing full-well that his son would try and save her.

"We gotta do something or she'll die!!" Sonie roared, trying to pry himself from his dad'sgrip.

"Not at the expense of your life!!" Sonic replied to his son's arguement, refusing to let go for even an instant.

Michael was uncertain of what to do, his mind fighting between saving her or leaving her to die.

"Damnt! Why do things always end up the hard way...?!" Michael yelled at himself as he dashed out the door before anyone could even react.

"Did he just-?!" Amy asked, thinking what Michael was doing was suicide.

"Tell me he didn't just go out there!!" Sonic yelled, releasing his grip on Sonie slightly.

Sonie ran back to the wondow to see if Michael had gone out there but the rain was obscuring any view he might have.

Suddenly, a bolt of lightning crashed through the window, missing Sonie by a fraction of an inch. Sonie, however, was scared stiff as his dad grabbed him and put him in the shower, telling everyone else to do the same.

"Now! Get in, its the best chance we have!!" Sonic yelled, Susan, Amy, Shadow and Gina, along with Flash, rushing into the bathroom, hoping to avoid the main force of the storm as the window shattered from the lightning bolt.

<Meanwhile, outside the hotel>

Michael was covering his face with one hand, while trying to shield his body from the rain with the other.

"Hello!!!!?" Michael yelled as loud as he could, but the puring rain made any form of communication nearly impossible. "Is anyone there?!" Michael yelled again, finally getting a very low moan from the east.

Michael's hearing was very sharp even in pouring rain, and he soon found the source of it as Frieta.

"How did she-?" Michael had no time to finish that thought as a bolt of lightning struck a tree nearby, causing it to fall right where Michael was standing. "SHIT!!!" Michael grabbed Frieta's limp form as he barely dodged the falling tree.

Michael ran as fast as he could back to the hotel, hoping to get back up to the room before the main fury hit the hotel itself.

<Menahwhile, back on the fifteenth floor>

"Where IS that boy?!" Sonic yelled to himself as he could heard the loud claps of thunder and rain unleashing its full fury on the city.

Suddenly, Sonic was able to hear a knock at the door, unaware that it was Michael at first.

"Someones there!!" Amy shouted, realizing it was Michael.

Sonic quickly opened the door to the room and let Michael inside, telling him to bring the girl into the bathroom.

Michael closed the door as the storm continued to punish the city.

"Is she ok?" Susan asked.

"I don't know...she was out like a light when I found her, I'm not sure if she's still alive..." Michael said grimmly as Sonic gave a closer look at the girl.

"Thats Frieta!! What's she doing here?!" Sonic asked.

"I don't know, I found her there and thought the same thing!" Michael replied.

"I don't want her in here!! Get hber out of this hotel!!" Gina yelled, getting Michael and Shadow's attention.

"You mean to tell me that you'd just throw her back otuside in that storm with no regard for her well-being?!" Michael commented.

"She tried to kill me!!" Gina responded to Michael's question.

"That doesn't mean you should do the same! We need to forget about what she did to you at the moment because we have a storm to survive!" Shadow said to Gina, notcing her expression change.

"Shadow?"

"I know she's a bad person, but she is still a living, breathing person! How would you like it if someone who didn't like you just threw you back outside in a bad storm?" Shadow asked.

"...I see what you mean, Shadow..." Gina said, realizing her error.

"We need to forget about the past and try to move one, otherwise we won't make it!" Shadow said.

"You're...you're right, Shadow...I-I'm sorry...please forgive me..." Gina said with a tear in her eye.

Shadow saw this and wiped it away with his hand, embracing Gina and Flash lovingly.

Amy was sound asleep in Sonic's lap as was Susan next to Sonie, all three of them were exhausted from the recent events of the day.

As the storm continued to pound the city, Michael had stepped outside the bathroom and went near the window to see if the rain had slackened up at all. What he saw, instead, was something far worse.

"NO!!" Michael yelled as he ran back into the bathroom and locked the door.

"Whats wrong, Michael? Has the storm weakened any?" Sonic asked.

"No, its much worse...theres a twister heading right for us!" Michael yelled, that comment waking up Susan and Sonie immediately.

"WHAT?!" Sonie commented at Michaels statement, shaking with fear as Michael went over to Sonic and Amy, telling the others to huddle together.

Michael grabbed all the towels from the room and covered everyone with them, hoping to avoid any debris that might come their way.

However, as soon as Michael got on the floor, the lights went out, and then complete silence. The silence seemed to last for an eternity as the rain slowly started to dissipate.

"What happened...?" Susan said quietly, getting up slowly as she couldn't see anything infront of her. She felt the rain falling on her head, and she had no idea where she was. When Susan got up, she tripped over something round, but she couldn't tell what it was she had tripped over, so she ignored it.

The sky was still dark and there was no lighe whatsoever, so complete darkness was the only greeting Susan got.

"Shadow...? Gina...? Michael...? Sonic...? Flash...?" Susan scared when she got no response from them, shaking very violently from the cold rain and the total darkness.

Suddenly, the night sky slowly started to get brighter, the sun was rising ever so slowly over the horizon, revealing the damage done by the storm.

"Oh my...!!" Susan gasped in terror as she was able to faintly see the damaged city infront of her, debris was everwhere and the hotel she had been in was leveled to the ground. "Where is everyone?!" Susan screamed out, her voice echoing in the distance.

Susan looked at her body and almost fainted: her right arm was bleeding, she felt an object near her left leg, pulling it out as she screamed from the pain the object had caused.

"Where...? Where am I...? Where is my family?!" Susan started crying uncontrollably as she felt alone, hurt and empty, unaware of where she was or what had happened.

Suddenly, the sounds of rescue vehicles could be heard in the distance, but Susan had fainted from fear and exhaustion, unaware of the total damage done to the city.
