Chapter 18

Susan awoke to find herself on a bed with white walls and a constant bleeping noise ringing in her ears.

"Ohhh...my head...!" Susan felt like a giant ache all over, unaware that she was in a hospital.

Susan then heard a knock on the door and thought it was one of her friends so she told them to come in, soon realizing it was a doctor who had come in to check on her.

"WHAT?! I'm where!?" Susan yelled as the doctor told her the situation.

"You are at the Motople City Hospital, it was one of the few buildings that survived the storm, fortunetely, so you were transported here as fast as we could so you might get better." The doctor explained to Susan, who simply nodded in response.

"Where is my family?" Susan asked the doctor, realizing that they might be hurt as well.

"Family? You were the only one we could find...were there other people with you?!" The doctor spoke in a nervous tone, hoping and praying that the rescue team hadn't overlooked this girls family.

"...Don't tell me you...forgot..." Susan felt like beating the doctor up right then and there but she was too weak to do anything, much less cry.

"Please, you must rest, you are not to be moving around like you are right now!" the doctor told Susan plainly.

"You gotta be kidding me! You tell those bastards to go back out there and find my family!! NOW!!!!!" Susan shouted at the top of her lungs to the doctor who left the room rather hastily.

Susan flung her head on the pillow, crying slightly from her situation, not seeing her family as well as not being able to do anything about it.

<Meanwhile, underneath the hotel's debris>

"Help!! Someone, please, help us!!!" Amy shouted as loud as she could, unable to be heard above from the thickness of the debris she and Sonie were trapped under.

"Its no good...they can't hear us...we're gonna die before anyone even finds us!!" Sonie said as he started crying, pounding his fists on whatever he could find, soon feeling Amy's hand slap his face.

"NO! We are NOT going to die! You understand me?!" Amy shook her son, trying to snap some sense into Sonie.

"How-how are we gonna s-s-survive?! No one can hear us, they all think we're dead!!" Sonie yelled, getting another slap from his mother.

"We are NOT going to die!! We are gonna get out of here, they are GOING to find us, they WILL find us, even if its the LAST THING I DO!!!!" Amy said with emotion, getting Sonie's attention.

"SOMEONE, PLEASE HELP!!!! CAN ANYONE HEAR US?!!!!!!" Amy yelled at the top of her lungs, her voice was getting hoarse from yelling for three straight hours underneath the pile of debris.

<Meanwhile, over twenty miles away>

Sonic slowly started to get up, unaware that he had been flund over twenty miles away from where he had origionally been.

"Where am I?" Sonic questioned to himself, looking around and seeing a desolate environment: buildings desolated, power lines toppled and water mains burst. "Is..is this...Motople...?" Sonic asked to no one in particular, the cold air seemed to bite his fur, making him clatter his teeth and shiver all over.

Sonic walked slowly from where he was, soon finding out that he had a serious problem with his left leg.

"OW!!! Oh, god!!! It hurts!!!" Sonic yelled out as he fell back onto the pile of debris he was on, holding his left leg tenderly as he saw that a piece of bone was sticking out of the kneecap.

Sonic winced in pain as he tried to get back up, the bone stopping when he got theat leg moving, causing him to stumble.

"Oh, no...it hurts so bad...SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!!" Sonic yelled, hoping someone, anyone would hear his pleas for help, but he didn't egt any response.

Sonic started crying as he realized that he was alone with no idea where he was in Motople or if he was even going to survive.

<Meanwhile, near the hospital>

"Frieta?! Where are you?!" Lark shouted out, hoping he would find his sister.

Lark felt like killing himself after being so mean to Frieta like he had been before that storm hit.

"Damnt! Why do I have to act like such an ass?! <grunts> Ugh...why can't I just move on...?!" Lark yelled mentally to himself.

Suddenly, a low groan could be heard from underneath a pile of wood, Lark investigated and found who he had been looking for.

"FRIETA!!!" Lark picked Frieta up and pushed a button on his wristwatch, teleporting him and Frieta away from the desolated city.

<Meanwhile, near a blazing gas main>

Shadow had woken up twenty minutes ago, looking desperately for Gina and Flash, unable to find or hear any trace of them.

"No...please, don't leave me...please, where are you at...?!" Shadow mentally screamed as he moved pile upon pile of debris, hpoing to find Flash and Gina, but only came up empty-handed.

Shadow sobbed as he threw his fists into the ground, cursing himself and the storm for what happened.

"WHY?! WHY ME?! WHY COULDN'T HAVE HAPPENED TO SOMEONE ELSE?!?!?!" Shadow yelled, crying uncontrollably as he was about to give up looking for Gina and Flash.

However, after two minutes of sobbing, Shadow was able to discern a grunt and then another one to the west of him.

"Gina?! Flash?!" Shadow ran to the source of the noise and threw the pile of debris like a madman, praying and begging that it would be who he was looking for. "...!!"

Shadow went wide-eyed when he finally found Gina, who was still clutching Flash to her chest.

"GINA!!! ITS YOU!!!" Shadow shouted as he embraced Gina, who was still on the ground, breathing slightly. " I thought I had lost you!! I thought you were dead!!!" Shadow said through tears, all his emotion being poured out of him as he continued to embrace Gina.

<Meanwhile, near Sonic's position>

"Dad?! Where are you?!" Michael yelled out, his voice echoing in the distance.

Michael had been looking for the others for about thirty minutes, but being unable to find anyone.

"Dad?! Are you there?!" Michael yelled again.

"Michael..."

Michael perked his ears up, after hearing his name faintly, he lifted his hearing senses to the maximum, hoping to recognize the voice.

"Michael..."

"DAD!!!" Michael recognized it as Sonic's voice and ran to where he heard it, soon finding his dad on the ground, his left leg bleeding profusely.

"...Son! Its you...thank goodness!" Sonic said wearily as he was helped up by Michael, who put Sonic on his back and running towards the hospital.

"Hold on, dad! We're gonna get you to the hospital and they're gonna get you better!" Michael said confidentely, checking on his dad's expression to make sure he was still awake.

<Meanwhile, inside the hospital>

The doctors were fully loaded with patients and people with injuries, but they somehow had enough room for over fifty people.

Suddenly, the doors to the hospitals main lobby were opened and an orange hedgehog carrying a blue hedgehog on his back could be seen entering the lobby.

"Get him to a hospital bed, now!!" Michael shouted to the doctors and nurses who readily complied with Michael's order.

Michael realized that the others might be around somewhere so he ran bak outside to try and find the others.

<Meanwhile, underneath the hotel>

"Help...please...help..." Amy said weakly, her voice getting near to nothign from the lack of oxygen and energy, Sonie had already nearly collapsed from lack of oxygen.

"They aren't going to find us..." Sonie said weakly, about to die from oxygen depriviation.

"...No...they will...find us...we can't stop...trying to be heard...must...keep going!!!" Amy said with as much energy as she had left in her, yelling as loud as she could, pounding as hard as she could and doing her best to be heard.

Suddenly, Amy was able to hear a faint response from a person above her.

"Someones here! Hey!! We're down here!! Help...please..." Amy felt her lungs collapsing as she was finishing the statement.

Amy was about to collapse when her lungs suddenly filled with air, she took it in hastily as she inhaled and exhaled heavily, taking in as much as she could.

"Thank you so much!" Amy had no idea that it was her son that had saved her until she turned around.

"Mom!! Thank goodness you're alive!" Michael shouted, getting Amy's attention.

"Michael! Y-y-you saved me?!" Amy was about to cry her eyes out after seeing her son infront of her.

When Michael nodded in response, Amy flung herself at Michael, embracing him and kissing him all over, crying loud enough to wake a bear.

"Mom...I thought you were dead!" Michael said, crying as well, but not nearly as much as Amy was.

"I can't believe you saved me! Thank you, Michael! THANK YOU!!!" Amy embraced Michael as much as she could. "You...you are like an angel in disguise!!" Amy said through tears, pounding her fists on Michael's chest, crying on his shoulder.

"C'mon, Amy, lets go find the others..." Michael said softly, soothing Amy's emotions tremendously.

"We need to get Sonie to a hospital!" Amy said quickly.

"What about you, Amy?" Michael asked.

"I'll be fine, I'll stay right here! Go get our son to the hospital!" Amy said to Michael.

"Alright, if you say so...be careful, mom!" Michael said as he grabbed Sonie and sped off towards the hospital, where Sonic and Susan awaited them.

<Meanwhile, inside the hospital>

"Put him with Sonic and Susan!" Michael said to the doctors who put Sonie on a strecther.

Michael sped back outside and went to find Amy and the others.

<Meanwhile, at Amy's location>

"Amy!!"

Amy ran to her son and embraced him yet again, crying on her son's shoulder.

"Amy? Whats wrong?" Michael asked, concerned that Amy was still crying after she had been found.

"I-I don't know where Susan and the others are!" Amy cried out as she cried on her son's shoulder.

"Dad's in the hospital as well as Susan, they are all accounted for...but we still need to find Shadow, Gina and Flash!" Michael said.

"Lets go!" Amy said as she grabbed Michael hand and the two sped off to find Shadow and the others.

<Meanwhile, near the blazing gas main>

Shadow had fallen asleep on top of Gina, unaware that a gas main was blazing out of control near them. The resulting explosion would be enough to kill them if they didn't get out of there soon.

"Shadow!!"

Shadow slowly opened his eyes to see Michael coming towards him.

"Gina! Gina! Wake up! They're here!" Shadow shook Gina, hoping to wake her up, but Gina was motionless on the ground where she was.

Shadow looked to see if she was still breathing, and was relieved when he heard her breathing, not much but still breathing.

"Guys! Hurry! We need to get them to a hospital! Gina's almost not breathing!" Shadow yelled out, grabbing ahold of Gina and Amy grabbed Flash as the five of them were going to the hospital.

Suddenly, the gas main that they had been close to exploded, shattering the debris even furthur away from them, Shadow knew that could've been him and Gina.

"Thank goodness they found us..." Shadow said to himself as he, for the first time since he arrived in the city, breathed a sigh of relief.

End Chapter 18
