Part III: Living a Nightmare

Ch 24

[NOTE: five months have passed since Part II]

"Lark, what do you think Professor Calhoun is doing?" Frieta asked.

"I don't know and I don't really care to find out..." Lark said angerly. "Whatever he's doing right now is his business...besides, the last time we saw him he tried to kill us!" Lark shouted to Frieta. "I think its best if we just focus on the task that is before us: to destroy Shadow and the others!"

Frieta nodded in agreement as she started to walk towards Motople, but Lark's hand prevented her from going anywhere.

"Lark? Whats going on?!" Frieta yelled at Lark, upset at his rudeness towards her.

"Hold on...I sense someone approaching..." Lark said quietly as he looked around for any signs of the oncoming threat.

Lark then noticed a flash of light out of the corner of his eye and saw the form of a hedgehog in the sky.

"What is that?" Frieta said nervously, taking her gloves off, ready to fight whatever it was approaching them.

It didn't take long for the figure's form to reveal itself, hovering in the air as it cast a death stare on Lark and Frieta.

"Who are you?! And what do you want?" Lark shouted, unaware that it was Blade infront of him.

"My name is Blade...I thought you might be Sonic and the others but I guess I am mistaken..." Blade said almost in monotone.

"Well, I don't see how you could think of us as being the people you are looking for..." Lark said sarcastically.

Blade stopped in his tracks, turning around towards Lark, who was flexing his muscles at Blade.

"You don't want to mess with me, boy...you don't know who you're dealing with..." Blade said to Lark.

"What makes you think I'm gonna back down from you?!" Lark said, not intimidated by Blade.

"Boy...you just made the biggest mistake of your life, you know?" Blade said, his face showing an evil grin as Lark lunged at Blade.

Blade took a swipe by Lark and merely laughed it off, Lark's face told the story.

"Now that you've started this, I'm gonna make sure that you finish it!! No, you WON'T finish this because I'm gonna kill you and feed your carcass to the birds!!" Blade said evily as he lowered his claws towards Lark, about to pierce Lark's chest.

"Lark! Watch out!!!" Frieta shouted in horror as Blade started to run towards Lark.

Frieta closed her eyes, expecting to see Lark dead on the ground with Blade's claws having pierced his chest, but instead got a long silence. Frieta opened her eyes and saw not Lark on the ground, but the body of Calhoun infornt of Lark.

"Oh my god!!!!" Lark screamed in terror, backing away from Blade as he saw the saddistic smile on his face.

"Consider yourself lucky, boy, I could've snapped your spine faster then a blink, but I broguth you the body of your good 'buddy' Calhoun!" Blade shouted in Lark's face, almost making Lark piss his pants.

"You sick bastard!!" Frieta shouted, getting a cold stare in return from Blade.

"I don't have time to mess with the likes of you two weaklings...it would be a waste of time and energy and it wouldn't be any fun...so, I don't want to see your faces ever again, or next time you won't be so lucky!" Blade said with a bit of laughter in his voice as he hovered in the air and towards Motople.

Lark was frozen with fear and shock from Blade's death-threat addressed towards him and Frieta.

"Lark, lets get out of here!!" Frieta shouted, yanking at Lark's arm in an attempt to get him as far away from the scene as possible.

"Michael, we have made the final checks on Sonie's considtion and he may leave the hospital" a nurse said to a relieved Michael.

"Thank goodness..." Michael said to himself.

Sonic, Shadow, Gina, Flash, Amy and Susan were all ready to leave as soon as Sonie left his room.

"Finally, we can get out of here..." Susan said, relieved to know that they were finally going to get to leave.

They didn't have to wait long, because five minutes later Sonie came running out of his room, energetic and ready to go.

"Lets get!!" Sonie said happily, looking better then he had ever looked before.

"Ready to go, guys?!" Michael said, grinning at Sonic and Shadow.

"More ready then I'll ever be! Lets go-<explosion outside>...What was that?!"

"Lets check it out!" Michael said, dashing towards the exit as fast as he could.

"This building is going to burn to the ground!" Blade said as he fired a red beam at the bottom of the hospital, making it sag and lean dangerously.

<meanwhile, inside>

"W-w-w-whats going on?!" Amy said, scared from the shaking of the hospital.

"Somethings...h-happening!! We need t-t-t-to get to g-g-ground level!!" Shadow shouted as the group got to the bottom floor.

"That accursed Sonic and his qorthless son are going to feel my pain!!" Blade said to himself as he fired a huge blast at the top ten floors, decimating them.

"WHAT WAS THAT?!" Michael said as he fell to the floor from the aftershocks of the explosion.

"This building is falling! Everyone out!!!" Gina shouted as she found herself being carried by Shadow outside the hospital with the others right behind.

Michael made it out just as the building fell completely to the ground, a huge dust cloud rising from the impact.

"Burn you fools..." Blade said evily, flying off away from the ruined building, unaware that Michael and the others had made it out safely.

"That bastard! He's gonna pay dearly for that!!!" Michael said, extremely pissed off at Blade.
