Chapter 19

<Meanwhile, back at Michael's house>

"Did you find them anywhere?" Tikal asked a very nervous Sonic.

"No...he probably went after Bill to get Susan back...I just don't understand what he would want with Susan...it doesn't make any sense..." Sonic said.

"Well, if we are gonna find out where Michael is, we are gonna need to make haste; Michael's fast speeds will make it nearly impossible to track him down if we don't hurry now!" Tikal said.

"Well, lets go!" Sonic told Tikal to grab ahold of his hand and the two were off to find Michael.

<Meanwhile, hundreds of miles away>

"That asshole...who does he think he is?! He isn't going to get away with this!" Michael dashed off towards a distant castle a few hundred yards from him and kicked the door down with force only he could pull off.

Michael inspected the walls of the castle: they were old and ragged with spikes extending from many portions of it, skeltons and rats were everywhere, and Michael absolutely detested rats.

"Filthy rodents..." Michael said to himself as he felt his left shoe step on one, crushing it.

Michael went up three flights of stairs and found what he was looking for, Susan.

"Susan!!" Michael thoughtlessly dashed for Susan, only to get kicked in the gut for his efforts.

"Foolish boy! Did you really think I was just going to let you have her?! IDIOT!!" Bill kicked Michael in the face, busting his left eye open some.

"Bastard!!!!" Michael punched and kicked Bill all over his body, however, each blow hardly did anything to the super-charged Bill, who merely kicked Michael into the wall, his blows being mere blurs to the naked eye.

"Ahh! You bastard!!!" Michael wanted so badly to hurt Bill, but he knew he was no match for something like that.

Michael was about to call it quits, when the wall behind Bill fell on him.

"What the hell?!" Michael was shocked to say the least, but then saw his good buddy, Kyle along with Tails in a unique biplane.

"Hope in, Mike!" Kyle said happily, Michael complied and the plane dashed across the sky with ease.

"This a new model, Tails?!" Michael asked, having to yell because of the fast speeds they were traveling.

"Yes!! Its the first of three upgraded biplanes!! This one can travel at speeds half that of Sonic!! It also has a large mounted bazooka cannon on the propeller! It can blast through solid steel up to 100 feet thick!!!" Tails said as loud as he could as the three were already back at Michael's house in less then ten minutes

"Good to see you again, Mike!!" Kyle gave his teacher a hug, Michael returned it.

"I thought you had been in the training sessions with Rouge and Krayton!!" Michael said.

"I was! They saw how much I had improoved and they knew that I was ready to fight!" Kyle said happliy, his bright red fur gleaming in the light of the sun.

"I can already see a difference!" Michael saw his partners stature and tone; he had matured significantly since he last saw him, and his body had gained a little weight, but it was mainly muscle. "I'm very proud of you, Kyle...I guess that seeing you grow up into a young, strong hedgehog like me fills me with envy and happiness...I guess this is how my father feels about me..." Michael said.

"I guess so!" Kyle said. "Hey, Mike...I was wondering...since you haven't yet found a way to beat Bill, I would like to test out my skills in a battle with you!" Kyle said happily.

"Wow! You have gotten very bold my friend! Its on!!!" Michael said, shaking his partners hand which sealed the deal.

<Near Michael's house>

"Just because you're my partner doesn't mean that I'm gonna go easy on you, so don't expect it, Kyle!" Michael warned his bud, getting a grin in reply.

"Don't underestimate me, either!" Kyle shouted back as he prepared to try out his skills on Michael.

Michael struck first, nailing Kyle in the face with a kick, making the red hedgehog grunt some.

"Nice one, Mike! You've gotten much stronger as well!" Kyle said, getting back into a fighting stance.

"Thats not even a sample of what I can dish out!" Michael dashed at Kyle with speeds nearing the sound barrier, but was very surprised to see Kyle not infront of him anymore.

Infact, Michael couldn't find Kyle anywhere.

"Where did he go.......?" Michael perked his ears up so as to detect the faintest noise.

Michael never saw the blow coming, though, he knew Kyle was near him but he couldn't dodge the blow in time and was sent sprawling to the ground hard.

"Damn...how did he get so strong?" Michael was saying to himself, completely amazed that his partner had increased in strength so much in such a short time.

"Had enough?" Kyle taunted his teacher, clinching his fists and grinning at Michael.

"You gotta be kidding me! If you think I'm gonna wimp out after a single kick, you're mistaken! I must admit, though, you have gotten very powerful!" Michael complimented.

"You've gotten stronger yourself!" Kyle said as he was about to deliver a roundhouse punch to Michael's face.

"Michael! Kyle!! Come quick!"

Michael and Kyle stopped training when they heard Tikal's voice nearby and dashed towards the door to see what Tikal needed.

"Look! On the TV!" Tikal pointed to the screen, Michael couldn't believe who was on it.

"Citizens of Eagle-Eye! Lend me your ears and pay attention to my words! My name is Bill, and I have been waiting and waiting for this accursed city to get its ass off the burner and get serious with this town, but its become all too apparent to me that that will never happen! I'm taking matters into my own hands now!" Bill shouted as he shot a ball of fire from his fist and burnt up a building nearby. "That was just one building!" Bill said as he then addressed Michael. "Michael...you stupid bastard...you and your friends are going to pay for defiing me!! You and this city will pay for their ignorance!!" Bill said evily as the screen went black.

"What are we gonna do, Michael?!" Tikal was about to lose herself as she was completely uncertain of what to do.

"We need help...not just any help..........I see what Shadow meant..." Michael said.

"What do you mean?" Tikal asked.

"I now know what Shadow meant when he told me about the sacrifice that would need to be made...Tikal..........." Michael was crying as he knew what had do be said.

"Michael......" Tikal said.

"Tikal...I am the key to Shadow's revival..." Michael said.
