Chapter 23

As the dragon was approaching the four three figures in front of it, it was sent flying by an energy ball from the ground.

Sonic and Shadow went to see who had done it, to find that Monic had thrown the ball of energy at the dragon.

"Stupid...mothafucka!" Monic's eyes were half open, his left arm was bleeding severely as Monic struggled to maintain his balance.

In a matter of seconds, the dragon was back, except he had brought something with him as well.

"Whats that in its mouth?!" Shadow yelled.

What Shadow saw was a truly horrific sight: Kyle had been caught by the dragon and was dangling from its mouth.

"KYLE!!!" Sonic shouted, watching in horror as Kyle's left leg, the leg which was dangling, come loose from Kyle, who plummeted 100 feet to the ground.

Sonic and the others could only watch in disbelief as the dragon landed right infront of them, roaring in triumph over Kyle.

"Kyle..." Tails said distressingly.

Tails was getting teary-eyed, Kyle was his friend and seeing him die like he did was too much for the young fox's mind to handle as Tails lost all control over his emotions.

"You mothafuckea, you gonna burn!!!" Tails shouted as he did a new attack on the dragon: a red energy beam.

Tails' beam hit the dragon with so much force that the beam actually exploded upon contact with the dragon.

The screeches of the dragon were deafening to Sonic and the others, but it had done more then its share of damage to the dragon: its wings were gone, grounding the dragon for good.

"Now he...can't fly!" Tails said, catching his breath as the attack had also drained much of Tails' power.

Sonic and Monic took advantage of this very quickly, hitting double beam attacks on the dragon's prone form, causing extensive damage to the creature.

When the dust had settled, the dragon was motionless on the ground, its wings gone and part of its face peeling off, which was a truly gross site for Sonic and the others who had to look away from the horrid site.

Monic, however, wanted more of the dragon and hti it with multiple kicks and punches, none were meant to do any damage, but were meant to get his licks in.

Monic then got serious with the threat and destroyed the other half of his face with multiple beam attacks, the flesh was simply peeling off the dragons face as the battlefield was getting blood all over it with each passing second.

"Monic, don't!!" Shadow yelled at Monic.

Shadow's warning came too late, though, as the dragon suddenly awoke with a flurry of rage and anger as Monic was completely helpless before the monsterous beast.

Before Monic could react, the dragon burnt him with a flame attack, it was so hot that the ground around Monic actually collapsed from the intense heat.

Monics screams were heard as Sonic and Shadow watched in agony as Monic was burnt up, nothing was left of him.

Sonic and Shadow then realized that it was up to them to defeat the dragon: Tails was out cold after his attack, Kyle was dead, Monic was dead, and Michael was dead.

"No..." Shadow muttered to himself as he had to quickly jump out of the dragons path of rage.

The dragon had lost all control of itself, atacking anything within its range of sight.

"We need to stop this thing before it destroys the entire city!!" Sonic said to Shadow.

Sonic nailed the dragon with a homing attack to the head, hardly even phasing it as Sonic almost became a well-done hedgehog.

Shadow hit the dragon with another Chaos Spear, hitting the dragons' exposed flesh on its head, causing the dragon to go completely berserk.

Shadow kept hitting the dragon with numerous Chaos Spears, each attack doing massive damage to the dragon, but also pissing it off more and more.

Finally, Shadow hit the dragon with another Chaos Spear, however, the dragon deflected the attack with a beam attack, sending Shadow's attack right back at him.

Shadow had to move fast to avoid his own Chaos Spear, moving fast enough to miss the brunt of the blow, but not fast enough to avoid any effects of his attack: his left ear was cut badly.

"Shit!!!" Shadow yelled as he felt pain going to his ear, forgetting about the dragon temporarily, leaving Sonic to deal with the monster himself.

Sonic delivered a Sonic Wind to the dragons exposed flesh, causing the dragon to roar in pain as it was getting weaker by the second as it was being bombarded by attacks from Sonic and Shadow.

Sonic and Shadow thought they had turned the battle in their favor, then the dragon did something completely unexpected...

"Whats it doing?!" Sonic asked a confused Shadow as they saw the dragon glowing brightly.

Sonic and Shadow heard a long, high-pitched scream from the dragon as the light that had engulfed it began to slowly fade away.

When the dragon was in view of the two, what Sonic and Shadow saw was completely terrific.

"What the fuck?!" Shaodw backed away when he saw the dragon infront of his eyes.

The dragon had transformed into a two-headed dragon, it had a whole new pair of wings, but the same badass temper as before.

"No...not like this..." Sonic looked frustrated when he saw the rejuvinated dragon for himself.

Sonic and Shadow continued the assault on the dragon, but the improved dragon was simply too much to handle as they were blasted by a wave of intense flames from the dragon.

Suddenly, just as quickly while they were hit with the flames the attack stopped.

Sonic and Shadow looked to see what happened, and saw the one person they didnt think would be on the battlefield.

"TIKAL?!"

Sonic and Shadow watched in amazement as Tikal was behind the dragon, attacking it with some kind of beam of sorts.

"You're gonna die you fucking bastard..." Tikal was attacking the dragon with an attack Sonic and Shadow had never seen or heard of before: Final Justice

Tikal was hitting the dragon with a devastating attack, it was apparent from the dragons face.

The dragon was roaring in pain as it was being sapped of its strength with each passing second.

Sonic and Shadow watched in amazement as Tikal was actually doing this to the dragon, surprised at the power within her.

"I never knew Tikal had such power!" Sonic said.

"How did she manage to hide it so well?!" Shadow asked.

"I don't know! I wonder if Michael knew about this power..." Sonic said to himself.

However, the attack, as powerful as it was deadly, took a lot out of Tikal, who was down to one knee while still attacking the dragon.

Finally, after thirty seconds of the attack, Tikal just collapsed, wasn't breathing, wasn't moving and not showing any signs of life in her.

"NO!! TIKAL!!!!!" Sonic shouted as he rushed up to Tikal, checking for a pulse but finding none.

Sonic started crying on Tikal's lifeless form, devastated that Tikal had done such a bold deed to try and save the earth.

Sonic let his rage come forth as he attacked the extremly vulnerable dragon, hitting it with wave after wave of kicks, punches and Sonic Wind attacks.

Shadow merely watched in shock seeing Sonic explode with such a flurry of offense against the dragon.

"I never knew he had that much power in him!" Shadow said to himself as the dragon was getting extremly weak as each blow connected to its body.

Sonic was on a role until the dragon blasted him with a rush of fire, sending Sonic sprawling near Shadow, who was still in shock of seeing Tikal and Sonic's explosive attacks.

Shadow looked around him: Sonic was down, Tails was down, Kyle was dead, Monic was dead, Tikal was dead, Eagle-Eye lay in shambles, and he was the only thing keeping the dragon from destroying the world.

"Its all on me..." Shadow said to himself, feeling the surge of energy course through his veins, giving him renewed vigor and determination against the task ahead of him.

Shadow knew what he had to do and knew now that he would either die killing this thing, or he would die trying to.

"No matter what...I can't lose hope!" Shadow said to himself.

Shadow transformed into his superform again, wasting little time on the dragon, who was very weak from all the assaults it receievd.

"You're gonna fry you bastard!" Shadow shouted to the dragon, hitting it with a Chaos Spear, its effect was more powerful from him being in his superform.

The dragon roared in agony as it was almost done with, but not yet done with.

Shadow nailed it with a barrage of kicks and punches, realizing the end was near.

However, no sooner had Shadow thought this, the dragon had one last surprise in store for Shadow.

Shadow went to deliver another Chaos Spear, but, instead, got not a flame attack but was hit with a black beam, sending him to the ground hard.

"Damnt!! What the fuck was that?!" Shadow was shocked that the beam had done so much to him, noticing that he couldn't get up.

Shadow was desperately looking around for something to help him back up, but the energy beam had pinned him down on the ground.

Shadow turned around to see the dragon directly infront of him, pissed off more then ever as it prepared to deliver the final blow to Shadow's helpless form.

"Maria...Michael...Tikal...Sonic...Tails...Kyle...Monic...forgiv e me..........." Shadow closed his eyes as he felt the rush of heat engulf him, making Shadow scream in pain as he knew that he was done for and so was the earth.

Shadow waited for that final chord to stirke, but instead heard the dragon raoring in pain as Shadow managed to open his eyes to see what had caused the dragon to be in so much pain.

"SONIC!!!"

Shadow saw Sonic infront of the dragon, hitting it with some kind of new attack, Shadow quickly got up to help Sonic out as the two of them were attacking th dragon at the same time.

"When I say 'Now!' hit it as hard as you can, Shadow!!" Sonic yelled to Shadow.

Shadow awaited Sonic's word, not having to wait long.

"NOW!!! SHADOW NOW!!!!!!!!!!!" Sonic yelled as loud as he could.

"Here goes!" Shadow charged up his energy into one attack, delivering the most powerful Chaos Spear he could muster.

Shadow fell limp the ground as he saw the attack nail the dragon straight through the chest, piercing its heart.

After the attack, Shadow and Sonic were sent flying when the resulting energy shift caused an explosion that killed the dragon in the process.

"Its..................over...................................... ..& quot; Shadow muttered as he blacked out.
