Miles `Foxy' Prower! Chapter 6: “Shady Saviors”

(This chapter is a special one. I'm taking a break from humor for this one, and making it a bit more serious, and action packed. It's a bit dark, but it all ends well, just read.)

“How about this one, Cheese?” Cream asked her pet, whom was flapping his little wings a few feet away. The chao examined the dress she held.

“…ChaoChao!” The tiny blue one stated, showing off his profound intelligence. Cream smiled, however fakely. The little creature was smart in his own right, but he obviously didn't have any taste in evening-wear. She'd picked the most hideous dress she could find in order to test her suspicions.

She set it aside, and began to think. She needed somebody to tell her which dresses looked the nicest. But it had to be a boy… one that could really admire which ones looked right and which didn't. Cream looked around at the various males in the store staring at her. She was pretty sure that the only one that wasn't was gay, the manager, who seemed to say `fabulous' every 3 seconds. Cream couldn't trust these people… she became uncomfortable around strangers. In fact, she was beginning to feel a bit unsafe. She was, afterall, completely defenseless, not a can of mace or anything.

Normally she went shopping with Amy, whom she always felt safe with. She pulled out her cell phone, and dialed her number. The phone rang once, twice, thrice… no answer. Well, there was, but it was from a machine. Cream hung up. What could Amy be doing right now, she wondered?

Cream put the cell phone away, and started looking at dresses again, aimlessly walking around. All of the sudden, however, Cheese seemed got rowdy. In fact, he seemed to actually be hostile all the sudden. She looked in his direction. The chao seemed to direct his aggression toward a very large man. This guy was HUGE. Probably 4 times larger than her… the worst part was this man was staring at her, a disgusting smile plastered to his hideous face.

Cream eeped. The chao didn't growl at just anyone… Cheese only did that when he sensed danger.

Not wanting to take any chances, the bunny shuffled in the other direction nervously. The chao followed close behind… and the man stalked.

Unfortunately, instead of shopping at a store of only dresses, Cream had to go to the mall… where all SORTS of people pop up. She walked swiftly out of the door of the Mall's dress shop and turned left, going into a different store. She was scared… she didn't really care where she was as long as she could evade this man… she sensed the evil intent in him, too… and it chilled her very blood.

She almost peeped in terror as she saw the man walk in, trying to look inconspicuous, but obviously stalking after her. She made sure to stay on the opposite side of this store as far away from him as possible. It was a toy store, so Cream hid behind various toys and picture boards, until she had enough space to slip out of the store. She ran this time. Until she ducked into what appeared to be a skateshop. She didn't even realize how easy it would be to find her bright colors in the sea of black wearing goth-punks, she was far too frightened to think rationally.

A moment passed, and she stared at the entrance, dreading the image of him walking in. She no longer saw the man, however. He seemed to be gone. She let out a breath of relief. But then, just as she started to walk out the door… she was grabbed by powerful arms, her mouth covered entirely.

She released a muffled shriek of horror from behind the massive forearm. Cheese snarled and flew quickly toward the man, with a chao-like battle cry, hard set on saving his precious friend. The fat man, however, was surprisingly quick, and he swatted the poor thing away with his free arm. Cream tried to scream, but to no avail.

This was BAD… The poor girl had never been so scared in her entire life… she'd never been in this much danger before. They were in the darkest, blackest part of the skateshop, and there didn't seem to be anybody within proximity to help her… the man chuckled softly as he began to take one of his utterly disgusting hands and…!!!

“Let her go.” Came a young, but dashing voice, just when all hope seemed lost. Cream thought she almost recognized it. The man snapped to attention, looking to see where the voice came from.

“Grrh, who's there…?” The man grunted in an utterly repugnant, bull-like voice.

Out of the shadows stepped a young man, his face concealed by the large black hood of his sweater. In his hand was a silver axe guitar, which he had hoisted over his shoulder. The utterly brilliant instrument seemed to reflect light, despite a certain lack of it.

Cream examined the mystery character. She wondered what he thought he was doing. He had a very skinny build, and he was probalby only about 5,6” in height… He didn't intend to FIGHT this monster, did he?… She hoped, for his sake, not. As usual, she became more concerned over a complete stranger's well being than her own. The man that held Cream in a deathgrip was nearly twice his height, and probably 30 times his mass. She tried to speak, but the man muffled her again.

The `cloaked knight' looked up a bit, something within that vast hood flashed for a split second, then faded.

“I'm not kidding you fat tub of shit, let her go, or I'm going to make your life even more pitiful than it already is.” The heroic enigma stated, his voice completely serious, even tinted with a bit of rage, and at the same time, utterly calm and focused. Cream thought, for just a moment, she felt her heart skip a beat. He was willing to face this monster for her? She shook it off, this was not the time to be thinking about such things! This kid's life was at stake here!

The large, nameless man, seeming to be nothing more than a sheer embodiment of society's corrupted outcasts, Grinned.

“Stupid boy… think you're somethin'…? If you don't leave now, and forget you saw any of this, I'll snap you like a tw-…” The man was interrupted, as the shady youth leaped into the air, quicker than lightning, and backhanded the man right on his fat face. It was obviously intended to be nothing but a sheer insult. Cream would've gasped if her mouth wasn't being covered. He was the fastest human she'd ever seen. The boy stood there, not even honoring the huge man by turning around. His back turned, he spoke:

“… You can get off with just that, you know… but this is your last chance, you disgusting pig. You'd better let go of her and get out of my sight. And I mean NOW.” The mysterious hero demanded. Cream felt like she was gonna be sick, as she gasped for air, the man's grip on her tightening with rage. His face twisted into an appalling scowl.

Not waiting to say a word, the man released the bunny and raised one massive arm in preperation to strike. Cream hacked helplessly on her knees, as she watched, praying that her young savior would turn tail and run before he was pulverized.

The man attacked with a vicious right hook, which was, with amazing agility, dodged with a jump, and a very high one, quite impressive for a human. Time froze for a split second, before the irregularly swift mystery boy twirled once in the air, his axe extended, gracefully connected into a downward, airborne guitar strike, gravity and the obvious weight of the huge axe smashing the man directly on the skull, full force. The instrument blared with the impact, as the man fell to the ground, motionless. (FLCL baby! Fear the axe!)

The hooded hotshot landed with the utmost perfection. To Cream's surprise, his Axe was completely unscratched, where any normal guitar would have broken in half. It appeared to be made of some kind of metal… even the neck. She'd sworn she'd seen it somewhere before…

A crowd of people immediately rushed over and gathered around, the final blare of the instrument of both music and justice sounded at length, and finally faded. People in the crowd started mumbling to themselves. The mysterious youth walked toward Cream, and spoke in the calmest voice:

“Are you ok?” Her savior asked. He offered her his hand, and she took it. Although he was somewhat threatening… Cream couldn't quite explain it, but she wasn't scared. She felt an aura of extreme benevolence coming from this stranger.

“FREEZE, PUNK!” A cop shouted, making his way through the crowd, his backup following. He pointed his pistol at the youth with the guitar. The boy let go of Cream's hand gently and turned to face them.

“You idiots, I should have you all fired.” The young man said, angrily walking toward the hefty policeman. The cop seemed intimidated.

“Hey, put the instrument down NOW! Don't move! I said don't move!” The cop commanded, hiding behind his gun.

“It's ME, you nitwit…” The boy said, removing his hood, followed by a pair of silvery goggles under it. His brown and blonde tipped, spiky hair spread out wildly, no longer constricted by the hood. Everyone in the crowd gasped, Cream being the loudest.

“Chris!” She shouted. He looked back at her and gave her an assuring smile.

“…M-m-Mr. Thorndyke?!” The cop stammered. He immediately put his weapon away, and the other cops did as well.

“ Yeah, that's right. You'd better be afraid, because you're all in big trouble. Do you see this man?” Chris sounded like a scolding father. He pointed to the incapacitated criminal. “I just stopped him from doing something sick to that poor girl right there. You know, YOUR job. What's wrong with you, letting scum like this into my family's property?” Chris scolded the policeman, whom gulped, fearing for his job.

You guessed it, the Thorndykes OWNED this place. They pretty much ran the whole town, being rich super celebrities after all. It was technically his Mom's, but everyone there recognized Chris as a VIP. He had to wear that hood just to keep from being disturbed by everyone. He rather enjoyed being treated like a common person whenever possible. Fame and authority were nice, but they were also a hassle.

Cream, amidst all of this, was simply put, flabbergasted. Chris had just saved her life… she had no idea he knew how to fight, it was unbelievable. She'd only seen Sonic do things like that… she always thought of him as the more peaceful type… but his scornful attitude suggested otherwise. The policeman's neglect of their job had nearly cost him a dear friend, and he was, quite simply put, pissed. Yes, Chris was generally laid back and passive, but he was certainly not spineless.

The rock star lectured the officers for a long time, so irritated that they let something like this happen, he almost smacked one of them. Cream didn't know Chris felt so passionately about her safety… it really made her think. She crawled over to where Cheese was and scooped him up.

“chao…” it muttered, a bump forming on it's head. The bunny comforted it, relieved to see that it was only a scratch.

Later, Chris ultimately decided to close the mall for the day until the people in charge of the officers could deal with them. The policemen found out that the man was an escaped convict, and they put priority on sending him back to prison immediately. The law enforcers' badges would surely be in peril when word of this got to the police department, which it inevitably would, as the punk-rocker would make sure of it.

As people left the mall, all complaining, Chris finally turned around to check on Cream again. They were still in the skate shop.

“Chris… thank you so much…” Cream said, holding back tears. This was, though over, still very upsetting. The young teen's anger faded into a deep concern.

“Cream… what were you doing here all by yourself?” He asked, gently.

“I was shopping for dresses. I'm sorry…(sniff)” Cream answered, her voice beginning to waver. Chris put his hands on her shoulders.

“No tears, please. You've got nothing to apologize for. It just …happened… it's really no one's fault, ok?” He said, trying to be gentle. However, a few tears drizzled down her cheeks. Poor thing… She really was trying to comply, but she couldn't hold it back. She was far too sensitive. Chris frowned, deeply saddened, just as he knew he'd be if he saw her cry.

But she did what any girl in her situation would do, and released her emotions, softly sobbing into his shoulder. There was no notable relationship between the two, nothing beyond the platonic, that is, but we all need shoulder to cry one at one point in our lives, don't we?

Chris had a crush on Cream, and he cared about her a lot, so this was very upsetting for him as well. He somehow felt responsible, as he pet her sobbing head, comfortingly. Cheese fluttered around, looking very grim as well. At that moment, the room was filled with a thick sadness, it was a very depressing moment. A small clear drop found it's way out of Chris' eye, something that didn't happen often. He gently wiped it aside, glad nobody was present to see it. He hadn't cried in the longest time it seemed.

“Cream, stop. Please. It's ok now… you're safe, I'm here, and there's no reason to be upset anymore… ok?” He said, trying to see her face. She sniffled.

“B-but s-still…” She stuttered. Chris looked her right in her huge cocoa eyes.

“Listen. You have to move on. There's nothing more that can be done about it. All that matters is that you're ok, and I'm not going to let anything like this ever happen again. Ever. You have to understand, Cream, if you live in the past, then you'll never have a future. So you have to move on, and be happy again.” He said, his blue eyes glimmering with passion. He had just said something profoundly insightful, not to mention moving, to her…. she wondered if he realized it?

“…Well…” She trailed. She really wasn't sure what to say… all the sudden Chris seemed like a different person… she'd never seen him for the hero he really was… She owed him her life, and it was a strange new feeling that confused her intensely. Chris smiled, trying to infect her with a bit of optimism.

“Hey… tell you what… I'll buy you and Cheese an ice cream cone, and we can hang out for a while, try to wind down, catch up. Whaddya say?” He offered. Cream wiped her face as dry as she could and nodded with a smile. Of coarse, Cheese seemed to have forgotten the whole incident at the very mention of the word `ice cream', as he twirled in the air joyfully….

----------============++++++++++___________

Tails simply couldn't believe his misfortune… first he was practically raped by Amy, now Rouge had him under her boot, literally. Not only that, but it was now night-time, and nobody seemed to be around.

She looked at him with what he assumed was lust. He was horrified… the bat had a whip for cryin' out loud… What did she intend to DO to him?

He would find out soon enough… As the bat removed her foot from his skull. He immediately started to scramble up, but the action was ceased by a sharp pain on his butt region. Hearing a loud snap, it was doubtlessly the whip that was to blame. Did she just SPANK him???!!

“Ah, ah ah… You stay right there you sexy little thing… you're going to be my toy now, whether you like it or not…” She stated, confirming that things couldn't possibly get worse. Tails was afraid. That whip really stung… but unless he could get in the air, he couldn't get away from the bat… she was faster and more powerful than he was… he really didn't even know if he could outfly her. He had to think of something, anything.

(Dang… it's gonna be really difficult for me to keep the rating of this fic at T if Rouge has her way…:p)

The jewel thief knelt down close to Tails and bared her fangs in a smirk. Tails really, REALLY hoped she wasn't a biter, like Amy, or he was toast. She seemed amused that the fox was trembling. Figured Rouge would be in to that sort of thing.

“SOMEONE HELP!” Tails yelled, got out before being whipped again.

“Toys don't talk… now be a good boy, or I'll do something no decent lady should do…” The bat said in a silky, yet demanding voice. So much for talking his way out of it.

The bat circled him once, then perpetrated yet another aggressive action, lifting her `toy' off the ground, and forcing him against a wall, facing her. She turned around, holding him in place with her backside. She sighed in ecstasy, while most of the noises Tails was making were gulps, praying that she wasn't turned on by bloodshed.

She then began grinding her backside intensely and slowly over his groin. He gasped a little bit, unable to keep himself from looking down at it. He wanted to resist, but for some reason, his body just wouldn't let him. In fact, his body not only refused to obey him, but it seemed to welcome the touch quite openly.

Tails suddenly found himself battling a new force… his own libido. He couldn't believe he was actually, in a sick, twisted way, enjoying this… he'd never been subjected to sexual contact, even as dry as this, before…

His morals cursed his hormones. He did have to admit, though, Rouge had a really nice rump… He mentally smacked himself for even thinking that! This was ROUGE! Not only was she waaaay out of his age league, but she was RAPING him! Not to mention she wasn't his type… Unfortunately, his other head seemed to disagree.

…Just when it seemed he was about to lose the battle against his own sexual activeness, something sheerly miraculous happened.

A swooshing noise could be heard, and something large slammed into Rouge, knocking her off of him, with enough force to send her sailing in the other direction, with a loud, OOPH.

Tails fell on his behind, surprised, nothing suspending him to the wall anymore. After a brief moment passed, he regained his senses, and looked up to see what it was…

He simply did not believe his eyes.

Before him stood a familiar hedgehog, with a jet-black body and scarlet red eyes. It was none other than the ultimate life form, Shadow the Hedgehog.

His face wore no emotion, and his presence reeked of mystery. He wore a very large, tattered cloak, red as blood. Tails hadn't heard from him since he disappeared many years ago.

Tails remembered the first time he found out that Shadow was alive. It was on the news all the time, and in the papers…descriptions of a shadowy replica of Sonic, hiding in the shadows, and fighting crime for the better good in the dim of the night. At first, many thought it was Sonic, of coarse… later, though, some of the witnesses and various people he'd saved began claiming that it was a black hedgehog, in a red cloak. Sonic immediately knew it was Shadow, and he often times went out searching for him… but never turned up any results, not even over the years.

And yet there he stood, perfectly calm, resonating with enigma. Was it possible that Shadow was THAT stealthy? Tails could only watch. The ultimate life-form finally turned his head and looked down at Tails, wordless, emotionless.

Tails looked over at Rouge, whom had been hit with what was probably Shadow's homing attack. She was out cold… Amazing… Had he become that strong? To put the formidable bat down with one measly blow was quite a feat, and it had the fox intimidated. He looked back to Shadow helplessly.

However, the ebony hedgehog did not appear at all hostile. He seemed somehow… more peaceful, and tranquil. Tails felt almost safe at his presence.

Shadow suddenly moved a hand, making the fox flinch. The hand was offered to him in a gesture of kindness, it appeared. Tails timidly took it, and Shadow hoisted him to his feet. There was a soul-calming, yet unsettling silence. A soft breeze blew the cloak, making the overall picture of Shadow look even more tranquil. The two stared at one another.

Honestly, Tails was waiting for Shadow to speak, but he remained ever-mute. Tails finally spoke:

“…S-Shadow…? I… where have you been all these years…?” The fox asked, vastly curious. However, Shadow still did not speak… it was peculiar.

The black hedgehog made a strange gesture. Not like a little hand-jive, or a shrug, or anything simple like that, but a very complicated one. Tails cocked his head.

“Shadow…? What… are you doing…?” He asked, perplexed.

Shadow paused for a moment, then pointed to his mouth. He then shook his head no. It seemed like he was miming something out to him. Tails caught on quick, not being a fool.

“Shadow…? You're trying to tell me something… I don't understand, though. Why don't you just tell me?” Tails inquired.

Shadow shook his head again in response. He made a gesture to suggest the ability to speak, and then shook his head again. Something in the fox's brain was beginning to click…

“…Wait a second… Shadow, are you telling me you're mute…?” Tails asked him, his face expressing disbelief. Shadow silently nodded.

Tails shook his head and made an almost piteous face. How did Shadow lose his voice, he wondered… too bad asking wouldn't help.

After a long moment of deep thought, only the sound of the wind blowing the trees audible, the fox boy had a mental breakthrough. Suddenly, he remembered something that would help vastly. He'd never before had any purpose for it, it was just something he was compelled to learn on impulse.

Tails used his hands to form a character. Shadow instantly recognized it as sign language. He looked at Tails and actually smiled, although it was practically invisible under the scarf-like part of his cloak that covered his neck.

Tails smiled back, mentally praising himself for being such a genius. He used his hands to spell out a question. “H-O-W, D-I-D, Y-O-U, L-O-S-E, Y-O-U-R-E, V-O-I-C-E?” He spelled out, with some difficulty.

Shadow pulled out a gloved hand and did what Tails did with his hand, only much, much faster, and more precisely… Tails squinted, looking at the characters, trying to connect them to letters and translate what Shadow was saying to him… “I'm mute, not deaf, Prower. You don't have to do that, I understand your words.” was what he said.

“Oh… right… Okay then… this could work… can you tell me where you've been all this time? What you've been doing? Why didn't you come and find us? How have you been living all these years?” Tails asked all the questions on his mind. Shadow showed no expression, but still somehow seemed mildly aggravated.

Slow down. I'll explain everything. Firstly, I'd like you to take me to your home. It's not safe here.” He signaled.

Tails nodded excessively. He couldn't agree MORE. Rouge or Amy could, either one, come to at any given moment. They were not themselves… and the fox had to get down to the bottom of why, but he could do that later… right now, he had to take Shadow to his workshop and get some answers.

“You're right. Do you want me to fly you there?” Tails asked. Shadow looked pensive.

Do you think you can lift me?” The mute gestured out. Tails nodded. I mean, he could lift both Sonic and Knuckles at the same time. It was a matter of his tail strength, rather than his arms, as Sonic generally held on to the fox's forearms instead of his hands when the two flew.

Tails flew off the balcony of the apartment and hovered there, his hands extended toward Shadow.

The swift hedgehog leaped with the utmost simplicity, and clasped hands with the flying fox. Tails grinned. Shadow was far lighter than even Sonic. With that, the two-tailed wonder sailed in the direction of the Mystic Ruins, at an impressive pace…
