“Sonic, don't you remember?” Elise then kneeled down and whispered in Sonic's ear. Though Tails was interested in the conversation, he couldn't hear anything.

 

“Oooooooh yeeeeah, I remember now!” Sonic exclaimed, receiving another kiss on the cheek. “Sorry `bout that Tails, I just didn't realize you'd beat me here.”

 

“It's no problem Sonic. Besides, your girlfriend's really nice! She gave me this little scratch behind the ear and it felt really good!”

 

“Oh she did, did she?” Sonic playfully looked up at Elise. “and why don't I get one of those `little scratches behind the ear?'” Sonic had a playful grin on his face, while the princess crossed her arms while standing with her weight on her right hip.

 

“Well, Sonic…do you want the scratch on the ear, or the thing I promised for tonight?” Elise playfully asked, grinning coyly like she did right outside of the doors. She knew she had Sonic right where she wanted him.

”Ok, ok, ok, you got me!” Sonic surrendered playfully. “Can I get a kiss at least?” Elise bent down and kisses Sonic's lips passionately, as he returned the favor.

 

“Eww, Yuck! GROSS!” Tails sat down, quivering and covering his eyes with his hands and his ears with his tails. Sonic and the Princess were hovering over Tails' quivering body, sharing glances and chuckles. Then, after some time of doing that, Sonic gently poked Tails on the shoulder with his index finger. Tails, quite literally, jumped five feet into the air and let out a scream of bloody murder. He then landed, his two feet thumping against the ground on impact and his heart racing. He looked over his shoulder to see Sonic and the Princess laughing their heads off.

 

Once the intense laughing died down, the Princess led Sonic and Tails around the foyer, where Tails was looking around in absolute awe.

 

“Woooooooooow, Sonic! I've never seen anything this pretty before!” He started to slowly walk over to a glass case filled with exotic glass sculptures. “Sonic, take a look at this one” As Sonic began to make his way over, Tails was tapping on the glass right in front of a statue that involved two people having sex, though he didn't know it. “What is this one all about, Sonic?”

 

“Uhh, you'll learn about that when you're older, Tails.” Sonic said, trying to keep Tails from learning anything about sex at his young 8 years of age. Sonic guided the young fox back to a chair, while he and Elise sat on the love seat adjacent to it. Sonic wrapped his arm around Elise's shoulder, and Elise did the same. Tails started to tear, and his head sagged.

 

“Awww, what's up lil' buddy?” Sonic asked consolingly.

 

“Sonic…how do you do it?” Tails asked.

 

“Do what, bud?” Sonic responded, not knowing what Tails meant.

 

“Find love, Sonic. You and Elise are so good together, it makes me jealous…” Tails remarked, being not at all hesitant to drive his point home. Sonic looked over at his friend's slumped posture, and couldn't help but walk over to him.

 

“Aw, don't worry lil' bud. You'll find love some day. It took me fifteen years to find Elise.” Sonic motioned to Elise, who blushed wildly. He then wiped the tears from Tails' eyes, just before Elise interjected.

 

“Tails, good things come to those who wait. Sonic and I waited a long time to find eachother, but look at us now. You'll find true love someday.” Elise also walked over to Tails, and softly put her arm on his right shoulder. Tails looked up at them, as they smiled back, Sonic giving his usual “thumbs up”. However, this tender scene was interrupted by a mini-earthquake.

 

“What was that!?” Elise shrieked.

 

“I don't know, but I'm gonna find out!” Sonic said. “Tails?” He gave Tails one of those “come on, let's do this” nods of the head, and Tails nodded in response. The trio dashed toward the back of the castle, where their troubles were just about to begin…
