Ch 3: Doubts

As Sonic continued to think, Knuckles walked up infront of the blue speedster and patted him on the back.

"You know, Sonic, you shouldn't stress yourself out, you just saved the earth! You also made it back safely, and Amy is-"

"-Please don't talk about Amy..." Sonic interrupted, getting a worried expression from not only Knuckles but Tails as well. "You wouldn't understand..." Sonic muttered.

"Yes, I think I do, Sonic! You're so absorbed with running from her that you've probably never once thought about the fact that she loves you, never thought of the fact that you might be hiding something, never thought that it might be Amy who is being the hero!" Knuckles forcefully said to Sonic, getting merely a chuckle from the hedgehog.

"You are so mistaken, Knuckles...that assumption is far from the truth, you don't get it, do you? I origionally wanted Sally...we met in our childhood, we dated in our later years, and even furthur..."Sonic cringed when he finished this statement. "Then she found someone else...I swear, Knuckles, that day forever changed my life...I have already been heartbroken once before...I don't plan on being done so again..." Sonic said with a tear forming in his eye.

"Sonic, you've gotten Amy all wrong! She would never leave you! She loves you, and she always has! The more you avoid her the more she is hurt by it! Today you finally pushed it too far, Sonic, she's emotionally depressed! You realize that when you were on the ARK and Eggman launched you into space that Amy ran to the window and cried your name when she saw the capsule explode?! Do you truly understand what that means, Sonic? I don't think you do! I say that what you are doing is completely out of paranoia and fear over something that should've been forgotten about long ago!" Knuckles said with emotion as he sat down on the floor.

"You know, Sonic, Knuckles has a point, as much as I hate to admit it: Amy loves you dearly, and the way you've been avoiding her has really stressed her out! Sonic, Amy cared enough to even make you a cake at her house even after you broke her heart today, you know that? If I had been Amy, I would've stopped loving you that very instant. Amy still loves you, Sonic, and her heart still wants to be with you!" Tails said to an emotionally confused Sonic.

"Guys...I don't think you guys see that trying to persuade me into loving Amy is not working, I've made my point very clear: I've been heartbroken once before, I don't plan on haveing it done to me again! Even...even if what you're saying is true how do I know that it isn't some scam on her part?" Sonic questioned as he was about to dash out of the house.

"Don't you dare leave this unfinished, Sonic T. Hedgehog!!!" Knuckles shouted. Sonic smartly complied and sat back down on the couch. "How can you even perceive that Amy would scam this? I would love to know how you can think that that girl who has loved you so long would possibly be kidding around...Sonic, I pity not you, I pity Amy! She's trying to show you that she loves you, but her efforts are in vain!" Knuckles stated as he grabbed Sonic's left hand, forcing the hedgehog to hear him out. "Your such a selfish bastard, that you won't even acknowledge her being there!" Knuckles said with a little bit of regret in his voice as he started to loosen his grip on the speedster.

"Hmph...Even if what you're saying is true, I have no reason to believe in love! Love broke me, and love won't ever break me again, because I'm not going to even give it the chance!" Sonic proclaimed as he bolted out the door before Knuckles or Tails could do anything about it.

"Poor Amy...how can she possibly still believe that there is something about Sonic that brightens her heart? I just don't understand it..." Tails said mournfully. 'Sonic, why are you acting like this? This isn't like you...I just hope its not going to last forever...' Tails thought to himself as the rain dissapated outside.
