Chapter 7
A warm trickle of blood ran down Amy's chin, landing on the plush pink carpet in a small puddle, seeping through the surface and embedding itself in the absorbent fibers. Sensing the presence of a liquid on her face, the formerly unconscious hedgehog awoke with a start, sitting up and slapping her face continuously, her eyes squeezed shut. Within a couple seconds her mad smacking stopped and she looked at her hands-lightly covered in a sheen of dried blood-and gaped at them, frantically rubbing them against the carpet in an attempt to rid them of the discoloration.
"Up so early?"
Amy whirled around, seeing an utterly surprised looking Shadow standing at her doorway, his eyes wide open and staring at her questioningly.
"Um, yeah." She shook her head, running her fingers through her quills. "Do you know anything about what happened?"
Shadow shook his head. "No, but I do know that you had one hell of a nosebleed!"
With a sincere looking smile, he walked over to her, kneeling down and revealing a white handkerchief and dabbed the tip of it with his tongue, coating it with his saliva. Then, with a mother's precise care, he carefully wiped the flaky trail of dried blood from around her nose and mouth.
"There!" he exclaimed happily, sitting back on his haunches and admiring his handiwork.
Amy rubbed her nose and stared at the weirdly acting hedgehog in disbelief, sighing softly to herself. "You mean you didn't see anything?"
A dark, ominous cloud descended upon Shadow's face. "Didn't I say no before?!"
"Why are you acting so rudely?"
"Why are you accusing me for everything bad or strange that happens? Just go on ahead and admit it, you think I killed those people! Just go on ahead and fuckin' admit it!"
Amy's eyes narrowed to tiny, angry green slits. "LIKE I SAID BEOFRE, IF I THOUGHT YOU WERE A MURDERER I WOULD HAVE NOT LET YOU STAY IN MY HOUSE!"
"Well, it seems like you keep blaming me for everything unusual that happens!"
"I'm not, Shadow!"
"Really…"
"Yeah, I'm not accusing you of anything." Amy said, knowing deep in her heart that she thought otherwise.
"Hn. Whatever." A tiny smirk appeared on Shadow's face. Amy's face lit up.
"Are we at an understanding?" Shadow asked, taking Amy's right hand in his left.
"Yeah." Smiling, Shadow gave her hand a squeeze and quickly let go, standing up and walking away quickly. Just as he was walking away something fell from his right hand, falling quickly to the ground, its polished surface reflecting the lights overhead. Curious, Amy crawled over to the object-which was only a couple of feet away-and picked it up, examining it closely in her hands. What she saw shocked her. There, in her hand was a razor blade-silver and sharp-the sharpened end slicing easily through her tanned flesh.
There! How do you like that? I know that the plot right now is at a standstill but there will be a plot twist around Chapter 9 or so. I'm also sorry for the shortness of the chapter. Bear with me please.
