“So, What do you think?” Amy twirled around in her new dress, Showing it off giddily to her best friend Cream. It was a delicately colored dress; a light blue skirt and bust with a light orange midsection. The fabric clung to her stomach and chest lightly, fanning out past her hips. She wore a matching headband of light blue with an orange flower. Cream smiled at the cute hedgehog's appearance.

 

“I love it Amy; Sonic will be blown away!!!”

 

Amy blushed slightly at the comment, remembering what he had told her only a few days ago. It sent chills up and down her spine; just thinking of him was enough to make her fall in love all over again. What did Sonic have to say? It had to be a confession of love, it had to…

 

The petite hedgehog smiled at her young friend and replied, “Thanks Cream; you look pretty cute yourself! Think you'll catch a certain fox's eye?”

 

Cream blushed deeper than Amy had. She'd had feelings for Sonic's trusty side kick, but didn't necessarily understand them at such a young, tender age. Cream looked away from her best friend, full of embarrassment and confusion.

 

Amy smiled wider at her reaction; as close as the two were she still always loved to tease the little rabbit.

 

“Don't worry Cream; you don't have to feel so embarrassed,” Amy said in a chuckle as she grabbed her house keys along with her purse. She motioned for Cream to follow her as she headed for the door. The party didn't start till later, but Amy had decided it would be best for them to arrive before Sonic and Tails. That way, they would be prepared.

 

 

~Ah,… I can't wait for you, Sonic…~ The two walked light-heartedly in the direction of Cream's house, where the party was to be held.

 

 

--Meanwhile, At tail's workshop--

 

The sound of drills, music, and screeching engines blared through Tails' workshop as he attempted to get some last minute repairs done before the party. Sonic leaned against a nearby wooden table as he watched his little buddy drill away, uninterested in helping out. He'd just woken up from his usual nap, which he was still sluggish from. Over all the noise the two chatted away about what the evening could possibly have in store.

 

“So tails, when do you think you'll be done? I'm really excited to get to the party…” Sonic smirked as he thought about the imminent evening. He'd been nervous at first; those feelings were now out-weighed by excitement.

 

“Gimme another 45 minutes, Sonic… it would go a lot faster if you'd help me though…” Tails attempted to start up the broken engine again, its screech high pitched and obviously not good. “Come on… work… I've tuned you at least 78 times now…”

 

Sonic shook his head and shot Tails an apologetic look. “Sorry Bud… it wouldn't be very cool to smell like motor oil tonight of all nights…”

 

Tails sighed, placing one of his tools on the floor beside him. “Well then at least twist this part here as I pull this chain against it. It doesn't have any oil so you don't have to worry about it. The stench is probably stuck in your fur already anyways,” The little fox ordered, obviously tired of trying to make the engine work.

 

Sonic did as we was told; he had no intentions of irritating Tails any further. “Like this?” he asked, twisting the part slowly yet tightly. “Yeah, just like that; now gimme a minute…” Tails replied, stringing the chain along the previously twisted part. He then hooked it into place and attempted to start up the engine again. EURIKA! It worked!

 

The young fox collapsed on the ground, letting out a sigh of relief. “Finally! I thought I'd never get this engine going!!!” he wiped the sweat from his forehead using his forearm, then lifted his goggles away from his eyes.

 

Sonic smirked. “Alright! Looks like you just needed me all along, eh?” Tails rolled his eyes, but smiled as well. “Whatever; I'm the one who figured out what to do anyways…”

 

The two sat there for a moment, silent. Tails broke the brief moment by asking a question that had come to mind. “So Sonic… what made you wanna do it, huh? I must say I'm surprised… I didn't really know if you were shy or if you were just telling the truth.”

 

Sonic knew that Tails was referring to his feelings regarding Amy, of course. He leaned back on his elbows, supporting his weight and replied, “Well, to be honest I didn't know what to think at first when she'd made so many attempts… but after we became closer and closer friends, I guess I realized that maybe I feel the same way too. Well, that I definitely feel the same way too. So, it makes sense to confess now, right?”

 

Tails chuckled. “I knew you'd have to admit it sometime!” Sonic punched his sidekick's arm playfully, laughing along with him. “Shut up; its not like that okay? I didn't ALWAYS feel this way!”

 

“Sure you didn't!”

 

“Well what about you and Cream?”

 

“What about her??”

 

“I'm sure you're gonna confess sooner or later, eh? Maybe I'll give you the courage!”

 

“Whatever!!! Shut up!!”

 

The two wrestled playfully, laughing as they did so. They both fell on the floor, still laughing, so hard that their stomachs hurt. It felt so great, so great that they could be carefree. That alone was enough for them to feel this happy. They didn't have to worry…

 

 

After the two were done recovering from their aching stomachs, they brushed themselves off and decided to head out for the party. It was getting dark, and Vanilla wouldn't be too happy if they were too, TOO late. Tails threw on a dark blue jacket to keep him warm in the midst of the cool evening breeze, but sonic preferred to go without one.

 

~Tonight is gonna be great…..~ the speedy hedgehog could only think about how tightly Amy would hug him once he confessed, and how great it would feel, for once.
