The next morning, Albel had decided to let Dodger wake up on her own and to not make any attempts to do so himself. But something bad was happening right now in the town of Airiglyph. It appears that a drunken soldier had not locked up the stables properly when leaving it last night. The town was in a panic for they had dragons rampaging throughout the entire city. And to make things worse, Dodger was currently sleeping through the whole thing. What a heavy sleeper she was! Being the captain of the Black Dragon Brigade, Albel was first informed of the dragons' escape. Every single soldier in all of the castle was then rounded up to hunt down and capture these beasts and have them put back into their stables where they belong. Albel was in rage.
"This is a load of-"
"Sir, we've caught two dragons in the butcher shop, they're being sent back to the castle as we speak."confirmed a soldier as about 5 others pulled along two large dragons both still with large chunks of fresh, raw meat in their traps."
Backin the castle, "Dodger, wake up!"Moca was shaking the sleeping, little menodix. Dodger stirred.
"Huh? Wha?"she was still a bit sleepy. "What is it Moca? Breakfast?"
"No, no no! This is serious. The dragons are reigning over the city! You must help the other soldiers."
"Whoa! Are you serious?"she jumped out of bed revealing her nude body. "I gotta get out there! They need me!"she opened the bedroom door and ran out slamming it behind her. Moca twitched.
"Uh....Dodger...."she started.
"Yeah, I just remembered...."said Dodger coming back into the room and closing the door with her face all red. "Sure glad the hallways were clear."
"Hold him! Dont let him break free!"ordered Albel as 2 soldiers tried to gain control over another dragon. This certain dragon was strong and struggling so much to be released from the mens' grasps. With a loud cry, it flashed open its wings, causing both men to fall back on their butts and before they could even react, the monster was flying away. "You idiots! Such weak excuses of soldiers!"
"We're sorry, Lord Albel!"said both soldiers in unison.
"Quick! After it!"
"Hurry, Dodger, I think they need help out there!"said Moca who was watching from out the window of their room.
"Okay, okay, Im trying!"said the little menodix hopping on one leg putting her other boot on. "This sucks, no breakfast."she ran out the bedroom door. "Ugh...I wish I had some food in me..."she thought to herself as she raced down the hallway. Due to this unfortunate event, the entire castle was empty of its soldiers. Dodger was a bit miffed that no one cared to wake her up. Being that she too was a soldier and all.....or at least a soldier in training, that is. She started to run down a flight of steps, only to slip on an apple core and come tumbling down.
"Hunt every single one of them down!"commanded Albel to all of the other soldiers though his voice couldnt be heard too well over all of the panicking townspeople.
"Yes sir!"replied each of the soldiers in unison before scattering off to search for the winged creatures. The stables held about 100 dragons or so. Unfortunately, they had caught about 10 or 20 if they were lucky. That meant that at least 90 or 80 dragons were still out there. Didnt need a brain surgeon to figure that out though. You could see them all over the town.
"And you!"scolded the Airiglyph soldier turning to his own dragon and violently shaking the reigns. "You know better than that! I should take away that bloody carcass that was suppose to be your dinner today." Blade the dragon lowered his head in sorrow wanting forgiveness from its master. "Nothing can possibly make me more pi-"without warning, something rammed into him from behind knocking him face-flat also letting Blade escape again.
"Im here, Im here, Im here."said a dazed Dodger rather quickly. He violently pushed her off of him.
"Get off, you idiot!"he screamed.
"Ouch....you dont have to be so mean! It's too early for that crap, you jerk-off!"
"Dont you talk to me like in such a way!"
"I'll talk to you anyway I want,....pube head!"she put her hands on her hips. "You better be nice or I wont help you get the dragons back!"
"Like you could be of any use!"
"Yeah, well actually, I can! Better than you too!"
"Would you stake your training on that?"challenged Albel. He thought that maybe this could get him out of training her and sending her back to wherever she had came from.
"Of course. And I'll even make it more interesting."
"Keep talking."
"Not only will I leave, I'll give you my life savings like in our bet from before."
"I accept. You have exactly one hour to gather all of these dragons up...by yourself."he pointed to the sun dial.
"Pfft! One hour? Try 5 minutes."
"Confident, arent we?"
"You better believe it. Now step back and watch a pro."she walked off into the middle of the area. She cleared her throat. "It's show time!"the next thing heard throughout the entire town was a beautiful voice singing "Dancing in the Streets"but this voice didnt catch just anyone's attention. Oh no, but the dragons'! Each stopped what they were doing and came rushing towards the beautiful voice of the menodix singing in the city. Large groups of them were surrounded Dodger as her lovely musical voice filled the air. A near by soldier was quietly counting each dragon.
"Ninety dragons. I believe that's all of them, sir."he said to Albel.
"Shut up."he crossed his arms. Out of all the dragons who were enjoying this number, Blade was the one bobbing his head to Dodger's singing. "Blade! Get over here!"ordered Albel. With a small whimper, the dragon lugged itself over to it's master. Now that each dragon was gathered, Dodger happily froliced....back to the stables still singing with each and everyone of them bright and bushy-tai....uh...I mean bright and scaley-tailed following her behind. None of the soldiers(who were ALL watching) could believe this sight before them. It was a jaw-dropping thing to see indeed! Each dragon in a single file line! By now Dodger had made it back to the stable with each of the dragons entering of their own free will! It was just amazing! With that, she closed the door to the stables and securely locked it.
"All done!"she announced.
That night, in honor of Dodger's noble deed, yet another feast in her name was being held. Before anyone else could, Dodger had already had her lips wrapped around a large turkey leg. "Here's to Dodger!"shouted a random soldier holding up his glass.
"To Dodger!"yelled all of the other soldiers at the enormous table in unison raising their glasses as well. Where was Albel, you ask? Making another dent in the wall with his big head. During that entire feast, everyone wondered what that loud pounding sound was.
