Thoughts—`Conscience Talking'—~“Electronic Speech”~—“Words from a note”
----------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------
Once the Titans entered the club, they were immediately greeted by loud music and blinding lights, played by a new DJ that knew how to please the crowd, unlike the last DJ. Magnum had to come in last, seeing how he had to go through the gun check at the door, but he was still allowed to enter with it on him, as long as it remained hidden from view.
The Titans regrouped, and then they split-up, and went in different directions: Rob and Star went to the second floor, the couple's zone. Magnum and Jinx went in the basement, `The Lover's Zone'. Cy went back outside, but he headed to the racing arena, where there was a big racing tournament that night, to practice. BB went to a table near the bar, in hopes to solve the “mail” mystery. Raven hid amongst the shadows, trying to think about her feelings for Draco and to see if he really does care about her. That left Draco to stand around--like a moron--and try to figure out what to do. After some thought, Draco decided to try to befriend Raven, again.
Once I find her…where did she go? And he set off to look for her. Unfortunately, on the way he spotted an arcade that had DDR in it, so he played around for a little bit, more like an hour.
BB's POV…
BB sat at a tale near the bar trying to figure out who his “old friend” was. Terra, who was there by coincidence, saw BB, but he didn't recognize her, because she got a hair cut and now had neck-long hair, like Raven (You'll see why later ^_^) and was wearing a black long sleeve shirt and yellow hiking shorts and boots (like on “Titan Rising”). She wanted to sit and talk with him, but she remembered that he told Robin about her problem controlling her powers, or so she thinks. She decided to write him a note, and give it to him in a way that he won't be able to know where it came from.
Back at the table, BB was trying to combine his four clues he got from xxgirl: I live near you; I'm as tall as you; I'm very skinny; and I have short hair.
After about 5 minutes, a paper ball landed on the table, seemingly from nowhere, and BB was about to ignore it, but he noticed that it was loosely crumpled, and there was writing on it, addressed to him! He opened it up and read it:
“Dear BeastBoy,
It's me again—xxgirl—and I think you've had enough clues to figure out who I am. But incase you haven't, here's a clue; My eyes glow when I use my powers. Oh and here's some tips for you:
1) Get a new outfit (the purple doesn't do much for ya).
2) Redecorate your room and keep it neat.
3) Learn some new Jokes, no offence.
4) Try some new fighting styles.
5) Stick with one girl, preferably me ^_^!
Ya know, I think I'll forgive you about telling the others about my problem; I'm over it now. To tell you the truth, I care about you. Call me some time @ (555)-013-3815.
Bye! XOXO
An old friend”
“Holy shit!! She cares about me!?! Man, I thought only my conscience cared about me.”
`I don't! I just pretend to, so you don't mess up as much as you already do.'
“Oh, that's supportive!”
`Hey, you know I care. Who else is gonna keep ya goin' when times get tuff. Ya know, ya should give her a call.'
“I think you're right, so I will! But, where's a phone?”
`Beats me…Why not ask Draco, or the bouncer dude in the black and orange?'
“I think I'll ask Draco first, and if he doesn't know, then I'll ask the bouncer.”
`Good idea. But what are you tellin' me for? DO IT!'
After a minute of looking, BB found Draco leaving the hallway that lead to the basement and the restrooms.
“HEY, Draco!!” BB yelled at him, Draco barely heard him.
“Huh? Oh hiya! Wassup?”
“Do ya know where the phones are?”
“Yeah there down there, past the `dude's' room, and to the right. Do you know where Raven--”
“I'm right here.”
Draco and BB both jumped, and BB landed on Draco like Scooby-Doo does when he's hanging onto Shaggy. Draco turned around, BB still in his arms, and found Raven, with her hood still down, standing right behind them.
Man, she's pretty. Maybe she should smile; maybe then she'll be a nicer person. I just gotta let her know how I feel… Draco thought.
“Oh, there you are, Raven…Uh BB, you can get off me now, and don't you have a phone call to make?”
Once BB re-entered reality, he jumped off Draco and headed to the phones. Once he was gone, Draco asked, “So, uh, where were you? I looked for you over in the shadowy areas, but when I checked, you weren't there, and then I looked all over this club for you, after I played some DDR for a bit…”
Raven, with her thumb, pointed to a door to her right, labeled `ladies'. Draco felt so stupid and regretted asking that question, out of embarrassment.
Raven asked, “Why were you looking for me? I can't dance, so don't bother asking me to. And no, I wasn't in there the whole time, just now.”
“Don't worry, I can't dance either. Besides, I was actually going to see if you wanna be friends, or at least…talk.”
“Why do you want to be friends, or even talk with me? I thought that you were here to party, not stand around for pointless conversations?”
“Well, uh, why don't we go somewhere a little more, private?”
“Fine. It's too bright and loud in here anyways, so why not outside?”
“OK, that'll do.”
So outside they went, in hopes that Draco will finally express himself to Raven. Raven hoped to do the same, and the two soon-to-be lovebirds walked outside, arm in arm. Once they were outside, they went to an area that was relatively dark, due to lack of lights, to finish their `conversation'.
BB's POV…
Meanwhile, BB made a phone call, trying to talk with the girl who sent him those letters personally.
~“[ring…ring…rin g…] Hi, sorry I'm not here to take your call. So leave a message, I'll get back to you ASAP—”~
As the answering machine's recording was playing, BB thought, Damn, she's not home! Oh well, that doesn't mean that I can't say a few things.
~“—[beep]”~
“Hi, it's me, BeastBoy, I'm callin' to say thanks for the advise, but regretfully, I still don't know who you are, I'm sorry. Ya know, I don't know where we met before, or what I did that day, but whatever I did, it nice to know that someone cares about me enough to give me a second chance. And I was wonderin' if ya wanna um…go on a…NO! I meant hangout at the movies? If ya don't I'll understand. Bye!”
BB hung-up the phone, and thought out-loud, “What the hell was I thinkin? Oh, well, I just hope she accepts. Maybe then I'll know who she is.” With that, he went back into the main part of the club to finish off the night, while Terra went on home.
Meanwhile, outside the building…
“So,” Draco began, unsure how to start, now that he was alone with the girl he secretly adored, “How was your night so far?”
“It was more on my `Why-the-hell-did-I-agree-to-this?' side, but the Banshee ride made it worth it. How long did it take you to finally learn how to fly that thing anyways?”
“Eh, it took me about a week or two. But before that, I mostly relied on my dragon form for flying around. After that, I became even more `dangerous', no one's dared to come near me before, and they don't even think about it. However, I look as cool as the Master Chief when I'm fighting either way.”
Right… Maybe you're as much of a show-off as I thought, she mused to herself, but he read the thought and caught the gist.
“Yeah, I am a bit of a show-off. So, you wanna try to flying the Banshee?” he asked.
“I told you, not yet, I still need to adjust to the damn roller-coaster feel! I don't go to amusement parks often, you know,” she teasingly said, giving him a playful angry face.
“Oh well. So, uh, ya wanna, um…uh…um…” It was quite obvious to Raven that Draco was getting nervous, again, and that he had something on his mind that he wanted to tell her, but he was afraid of something. Raven tried to read his mind, and probe for answers, but his mind was too jumbled and nothing could be read clearly. She decided to try to calm him down, so she put her hands on his shoulders, and went forehead-to-forehead with him, and that seemed to work, he wasn't so nervous now. In the background, the club had a slow-song playing, at Draco recognized it as “Be A Man” by Aqua (if you have no clue who they are, try Nabster or Yahoo Music).
“What are you trying to say? You can tell me,” she softly said, trying to get him to say whatever was bothering him.
“Well, it's just that I, uh…um…I…want you to know something,” he said, still a little on edge.
“What is it?” She did her best to remain patient, but the experience she was about to have was increasing her anxiety.
For Draco, just he couldn't take it. After a second of trying to find something to say, he just took her hands in his, and tried to say what his mind was screaming at him.
“Well, I happen to like you, maybe more than a friend, but I want you to know, that that has to do with what I'm trying to say,” while he was saying this, he let go of Raven's hands, and embraced her, and she embraced him.
Draco took a deep breath before continuing, “Well Raven, its just that I wanna let you…know…that…I…” as he was saying this, he was slowly movin' in towards Raven's lips, and she was unknowingly—yet willingly---doing the same.
Come on, I now know your feeling for me, and I'm feeling for you too. Just go on and say it! Come on, your only so cute! Raven thought to herself, as she was coming closer and closer to her first kiss. This time she was hoping that he was reading her mind, but unfortunately, he wasn't. Just when their lips were barely an inch apart, the moment was ruined for the two lovebirds, and the little romantic mood they were in was shattered by then end of the song and a booming voice...
~“LADIES AND GENTLEMEN!”~ the speakers outside of the warehouse blared, causing Raven and Draco to jump, bringing them back into reality. The announcer continued to talk, as if nothing was happening outside, ~“WE HAVE A SPECIAL TREAT FOR YOU TONIGHT! WE ARE HOLDING OUR ANNUAL RACING TOURNAMENT!”~
Applause was heard from within the building, and Raven and Draco reluctantly let go of each other, wanting to admit their feelings to each other more than anything.
Raven started walking away, with light tears in her eyes, then she felt a hand on her shoulder. She turned around, and saw Draco holding onto her.
“Raven, please, don't go,” Raven could easily sense the heartbroken tone within his voice, “I want you to watch me race.”
“You entered that race? Why?”
“Well, I wanted to see how my racing skills are in real life, not just on a video game.”
“But, you don't have a car, do you?”
“Not exactly, my real car is in a shop getting' a few more upgrades on the engine and stuff. But I have another car I use for racing that I keep here. And it's hidden from anyone and everyone.”
“Fine, but you gotta take me back to the Tower afterwards.”
“Deal.” They hugged, and then went in separate ways, Raven to the viewers' stands, and Draco to the parking lot. But when Raven was half way there, she noticed that there was an opening spot for a `cheering gal' (Ya know those crazy chicks that cheer on the dudes that are racin'), and she decided to be one of the girls that cheer on the racers, Draco in particular, and she went to the racing arena's office, and signed up.
Meanwhile, back inside the club…
As the announcement ended, telling everyone that the racing part of this night was about to start, a big screen TV started rising out of the floor, with the racing arena on the screen.
“I guess that's my cue,” the bouncer mused to himself, and he headed outside, towards the racer's parking lot. Along the way to his car, he saw the Banshee there.
“Well now, what's this? Last time I checked...oh! Well, well, well, what do ya know! He's taken residence in Jump City? I shudda stayed in L.A.”
`Why not stay and say hi to him? After all, he's in the race too?'
“Later, I have a race tournament to win, again. I wonder if I'm gonna race him in the finals? Oh well, that'll be for later, but now, time to breakout the Skyline. I hope the paint-job gets the black-haired babe's attention.”
Once he got to his car, he saw Raven and Draco hugging, then Draco walked over to his Banshee, and put on his helmet, and the rest of his gear, which was basically the rest of his MJOLNIR armor, the same as the one the bouncer was wearing, except for the bouncer's was black instead of sage. Draco left for the arena, while the bouncer watched on from the inside of his car.
So, he's usin' the Civic…good luck bro. I know ya gonna win the Goth-gal's heart, but that won't mean I'll take in easy on you in the finals, he thought.
Back in the arena…
Cy was impatiently waiting for the other seven racers to get their asses in the arena, “Where the hell is everyone? I've been waitin' here for ten minutes.” After another minute, the other racers made there way into the arena.
“About time,” Cy mused out-loud, “Hold up, Draco's racin that?! Well, it looks like I'm gonna half to use those five tanks of NOS in the T-Car if I'm gonna beat him. I've seen his racin skills, and how he handles that Banshee, but I haven't seen how he does in a real car. At least he knows how to modify a car…”
Sure enough, as the racers made a slow approach into Crash Alley's racetrack, Cyborg saw a dark-green Honda Civic, with green neon, a bright-green lightning bolt vinyl along the sides. The car had a body kit that made the car look like it had a mouth (if you have an RX-7 or -8 on Juiced, last front bumper mod), and the hood added to the effect. The muffler tips made the car look like it had four tail pipes instead of two, but the car looked overall awesome.
After everyone settled into their spots, the racing preparations started.
