Vash paced back and forth in the hospital waiting room. Nick stood against a wall, smoking another cigarette. Mill and Meryl were fast asleep on the couch.

"Vash. Just sit down," Nick said as he inhaled. Vash glared.

"It's been fourteen friggin hours!" Vash snapped. Just then, a nurse came in with a smile.

"Mr. Stampede?" she asked in a sweet voice. Vash ran over to her.

"Is Aerith okay? What about the baby?" he said all in one line. Nick grabbed him to calm him down.

"Oh, she's all done! You may see her now," the nurse said happily. Meryl and Milly ran past them before they could even move an inch.

"When did they wake up?!" Nick asked as he and Vash followed. Vash shrugged.

Meryl opened the door to Aerith's room and stepped in. She could hear a baby's coo.

"Aerith honey?" Meryl said as she saw the sweaty Aerith cradling her baby. Aerith looked at her mama with a tired smile. Meryl sat in a chair beside her bed while Milly stood.

"It's a boy mama. His name is Delano," Aerith said tiredly. She handed her child to Meryl before collapsing in sleep. Meryl smiled as Aerith slept. Her attention was then pulled to the infant in her arms. She stared down at the child with shock. The little boy was going to be a spitting image of his father. He had no trace of his mother on him. Vash and Nick soon came in.

Late in the night, Aerith's eyes slowly opened. She was in a hotel room. Quietly, she slipped out of bed and went to her son who was in an infant's cradle. He was sleeping as Aerith knelt down to get a better look.

"Hi my little boy," she whispered. Delano shifted slightly and sighed.

He's so beautiful! My baby Del-

There was a sharp click in her mind. She could hear Legato's voice ring in the emptiness of her mind.

Aerith, come to me…bring our son to me…

Aerith slowly picked up her son in her arms. She made her way out the door and to Vash's room. Opening it, Aerith quickly grabbed his silver gun and left, leaving behind only a note.

Aerith didn't remember how she got to her old room or who put Delano on her bed (who sleeping peacefully). Aerith could hear someone in the shower. Realizing she had a gun in her hand, Aerith took the opportunity to try out Vash's gun.

Silently, she crept to the open bathroom door. Glancing at her son one last time, she slid in, yanked the shower curtain open, and aimed her gun. Her eyes widened as she made a terrible mistake.

"Aerith, I congratulate you," Legato said in a smirk as water dripped down his naked body. Aerith's arms felt heavy and she lowered her arms. She tried to run to her son but Legato's arm blocked her way. Another one came on the other side of her. Legato drew his body closer, pinning Aerith against the steamed bathroom wall.

"No! Stop this! Oh no-" Aerith tried to escape but resulted to drop her gun. Legato simply picked her up and placed her under the shower's water.

The water's freezing! How can he bathe in this water?!

Legato quickly but carefully removed her clothes. He then put shampoo in his hand and rubbed it into her hair.

"Hmm?!" Aerith was startled to feel soap in her hair run down her shoulders. Legato put her under the water again to wash it out.

"Why are you doing this?" Aerith whispered. She braced herself as she saw his hand come up. But instead of feeling a slap, he put conditioner in her hair. Her skin became oily and soft; Legato lifted her up and set her against the wall, resting his head against her chest. They sat like that for a minute or two.

Aerith opened her mouth to say something but was interrupted by Legato.

"Aerith. Do you know why I serve your father?" he asked, tightening his arms around her torso. Aerith muttered a "No,"

"I was only seven when I lost my parents. It was a blessing though. My mother was a whore as my father, a drunk. Knives killed them and took me in," Legato said in a low tone. Aerith's eyes softened. He had no family?

"You have bore me a son, you are my wife, you have given me a family," Legato said in almost a chuckle. That's right… Aerith looked down at her left hand, were a ring was on her wedding finger. The ring had a large Emerald with two Diamonds on each side. I was married to him. Although I was under his control, I can still remember it.

She looked at his ring, which was quite simple. It had a large Sapphire and Diamond in it to fit a man's ring.

"We will be leaving tonight to a special occasion," Legato said to rid Aerith of her thoughts. He let go of her and got out of the shower. She was about to follow but realized the conditioner was still in her hair.

"Finish your shower," Legato said firmly. He left with the door closed behind him.

Aerith stood in the shower, and then rinsed out her hair.

Getting out of the shower, she then remembered…

"I left the baby on the bed!" she squeaked. Wrapping a towel around her, Aerith dashed out of the bathroom and into the bedroom. She stopped in her tracks.

On the bed was a shirtless Legato (he has pants on!)…and on his chest laid Delano. Delano was wide awake and was touching Legato's face with curiosity. One of his small hands held on to his father's thumb. Delano then dribbled on Legato's chest.

"Uh oh…," Aerith giggled. She went into the bathroom and got a wash cloth. She came back and whipped the baby drool off of Legato, who had a smirk on his face.

"Ooo you silly," Aerith cooed as she picked Delano up. Delano gave her baby laughs as he was delighted to be with his mother.

This is what Vash and Meryl must have felt when I was a baby…

Aerith was too busy with Delano to notice that Legato set out an outfit for her.

"Aerith," Legato said seductively in her ear. Legato gently took Delano from her and gestured to the bed. Aerith looked to see the most gorgeous dress ever. It was white with long loose sleeves that had a red rose pattern here and there.

Aerith took it and quickly put it on in the bathroom. She came out a little shy. The top was a bit tight around her bosoms. Probably intended to.

Legato turned to look at her. Aerith could see the fog of lust in his eyes as he nodded his approval. Delano started to fidget and whine on the bed, trying to get his mother's attention.

~Vash's place~

"NOT AGAIN!" Vash yelled. Meryl came into the room with a note in her hand. Vash snatched it from her.

"What's this?!" he yelled. Nick hit him over the head. Meryl sighed.

"Vash, the letter is from Knives,"

Vash read over the letter. It was an invitation to an opera that night. It also said that Aerith and Delano will be there.

"Were going but what the hell was he thinking? An opera?" Nick commented.

"I wonder too," Milly said as she put a finger to he chin. Meryl looked uneasy.

"Were going to get her back Ms Meryl. Permanently!" Milly said to comfort her. Meryl smiled weakly but felt something wasn't right.

~7:30 at the opera~

The opera was gigantic. It was the biggest opera house on Gunsmoke, and the most expensive too. They didn't bother to dress formal but whished they could. Every woman was dressed like a queen; old ladies with huge diamond rocks on their necks and fingers.

Aerith was a few levels above Vash. She held Delano in her arms as people mingled. Legato stood beside her as Knives was somewhere else.

"Ooo Delano, your being such a good boy!" Aerith cooed to her son as he laughed. He gurgled and held on to her pinky. Aerith wiped away his baby spit and kissed his forehead. Behind her, Aerith could hear women, old women, talking about her.

"What a young girl, carrying a child. Is she the mother?" they whispered.

"Oh God forbid! She is way too young!"

"Oh what about that young man beside her? Hey may be the father?"

"He's very handsome, I must say!" a woman giggled.

Aerith felt hurt. Legato must of sensed it because he put an arm around her waist and pulled her close, earning a gasp from the elderly women.

At the sight of his father, Delano cooed and reached for Legato. Aerith smiled.

Aww! He knows who his daddy is!

Legato showed his affection for his son by letting Delano grab his favorite toy, his father's thumb. Aerith thought it surprising he showed any affection what so ever.

Knives came over with Zazari following eagerly behind. Legato greeted Knives with a bow of his head. Knives looked at Aerith with an expressionless face.

"Aerith, congratulations on your son," he said casually. Delano tightened his grip on his father's thumb as Knives took a better look.

"Mrs. Aerith! Um-" Zazari glanced at Legato. Aerith knew what he wanted.

Getting on her knees, Aerith bent down for Zazari to see Delano, who was forced to let go of Legato. Zazari's eyes widened as he saw a baby version of Legato.

"Lets go," Legato said as he put an arm on her shoulder. Aerith stood up and let Legato steer her to their seats.

Once in their seats, Delano became fidgety and tried to pull down on his mother's dress. Aerith got the message. She searched for a blanket to cover him, but couldn't find one. Delano began to wail a little as he was getting hungry.

"Okay-okay," Aerith whispered as she tried to find something. Delano started to cry.

"Okay, shhh," she said to try and calm him. She looked over to her side to were Legato was and was surprised to see him removing his trench coat. He handed it to Aerith, who pulled it over Delano. She pulled down her dress a bit for him to eat. Aerith braced herself as he latched on to her, drinking his dinner.

She began to rock him slowly as he ate, fully aware that Legato was watching. Scooting forward a bit on her chair, Aerith looked over the balcony to see if she could find Vash. It wasn't hard to find him since he was one of the tallest down there.

The lights dimmed and the curtains opened. A man dressed in a tuxedo walked out onto the stage as people clapped.

"Ladies and Gentlemen. I welcome you tonight's opera," he started out. People clapped harder. The man moved to the left side of the stage and held his hand out before leaving.

"May I present, Sarah Brightman and Georgian Chant Masters!" people clapped.

A woman walked out onto the stage as men behind her sang a series of notes. A pare of drums calmly played the harmony as cellos and violins played the melody along with the chanters. The woman, who must be Sarah, began to sing.

"Did you ever think of me, as your best friend?"

"Did I ever think of you? I'm not complaining…,"

"I never tried to feel…I never tried to feel, this vibration,"

"I never tried to reach…I never tried to reach, your Eden,"

As Aerith listened, Delano began to slow down his feeding. His little hands curled in front of him and his eyes were sagging shut. He stopped sucking and lay motionlessly.

Aerith straightened her dress back and lifted the coat from her baby's head. She was expecting Legato to take his coat back, but he didn't.

"Did I ever think of you, as my enemy?"

"Did you ever think of me? I am complaining…,"

"I never tried to feel…I never tried to feel, this vibration,"

"I never tried to reach…I never tried to reach, your Eden,"

"Your Eden…,"

"Your Eden…,"

"I never tried to find…your Eden,"

"I never tried to…,"

"Your Eden…,"

The chanters played their part as Knives took out his gun. The music drained out the cocking nose it made. As the song ended, he fired it at Sarah, who fell to the ground with blood all around her.

Aerith clutched Delano as he fired again at one of the chanters. People began to rush out of the opera.

At the bottom, Vash frantically searched for his gun.

"Were is it?!" he yelled. Meryl took out two of her derringer guns, Milly with her stun gun, and Nick ran to get his giant cross gun.

"I can't find it!" Vash yelled again. Meryl gave him a pointed stare at his left arm.

"Alright! I'll use it," Vash said to her. The clothing around his left arm ripped off as his hand detached itself and swung to the bottom. It grabbed a hold of a handle as the hidden barrel shot out were his hand once was.

Aerith stuck her head out from on top of the balcony. She was about to yell out to them but was forced back in her seat by Midvalley. Knives aimed his gun at Vash and fired. Vash dodged it, just barley.

That's it! No more damsel in distress! Aerith's mind screamed. She quickly slid her arm under her dress and pulled out Vash's gun that was strapped to her leg. Holding her son tight, she aimed and fired it at Midvalley. It hit him in the shoulder.

She quickly stood and ran out of the box. She ran down numerous halls with her baby woken up and crying. She could hear people running after her and gunshots from upstairs.

"Aerith! Over here!" Meryl called as she ran out from inside. Milly came after her, then Nick.

"Hurry!" They all ran outside the building and kept running as far as they could. Aerith could see Legato and the others run out of the building too.

"Why are we running?!" she asked. They all stopped after a good seventy yards away. Just as she spoke, the building blew up from the inside.

"Vash's Angel Arm…," Nick said quietly. The building started to collapse. Aerith just stared as Vash began to walk from the crumbling building.

"Thank god!" Meryl breathed. Aerith was about to run to him, until she felt a gun against the back of her head. Vash froze as Knives cocked the gun.

"How the hell did you get out?!" Nick yelled in shock. Vash glared as Knives began to laugh insanely.

"Let her go!" Milly screamed. Aerith held Delano close to her.

"You know what brother, I really don't give a damn about her," Knives said in a cackle.

"Say bye-bye!" he yelled. Instead of feeling pain, someone pushed her out of the way and got them shot.

"IDIOT!" Knives yelled as Legato fell to the ground. The bullet went right through his skull.

"Did you see that?!" Nick yelled to Vash. Vash stared, taken aback. Aerith gave Milly Delano and ran to Legato's side. His head turned slowly to her. He mouthed some words to her before his head fell all the way to the side. He was dead.

A tear fell from her cheek.

He died for his only family…

"DAMN YOU KNIVES!" Aerith screamed in anger. Knives pointed his gun at Vash this time and fired, but didn't hit him. Aerith ran in front of the bullet and it hit her skull. She fell over onto Legato's chest, dead.

"NO! OH GOD NO!" Meryl screamed. Milly began to cry as she fell to her knees. Knives began to run, Vash followed. Knives didn't get too far because Nick tripped him. Vash jumped into the air, aimed. Knives watched in horror as Vash pulled the trigger. He broke his promise to Rem. Knives fell one the ground dead.
